Was seeking a local gym for classes while visiting the area and came across this place not too far from the hotel that we're staying at. So happy I did! Drop in rate is 10.00 per class. A variety of classes are offered 7 days a week but unfortunately this past Sunday's were cancelled due to some special event they had (website's schedule is up to date). To book a class is super easy; choose which class you want and it tells you how many open spots are left. You pay via credit card and receive an email confirmation. Upon arrival you just go to either of the studios where the classes are held. I booked a spin class and the instructor came up to introduce herself and asked my name and said she saw it on her roster. As for the class, it was very good and the instructor (Jill) was super nice and chatted with her a bit after. Facility is very clean and the bikes were in excellent condition. The only con is it is very hard to find as there is no signage indicating where the center is located (you see the theater upon arrival). I stopped and asked what appeared to be some city road/construction workers and one was able to give me directions. Saw the building with a huge parking lot and assumed that was it as I saw some people going in who were in workout gear and carrying gym bags. Once you initially find it you are good to go and know what/where to go. read more

I just received an email from Dearborn Parks and Rec regarding my gym membership. I've been a faithful member of this gym for several years. It's understandable that they need to raise the rates but it's more than a quarter higher than what it initially used to be. In addition to that they're charging a $40 nonrefundable enrollment fee. All these cost combine make it un affordable for the majority of people in the city. I can see increasing the rates but to add a $40 enrollment fee for something that takes the lady behind the desk 30 seconds to issue. Your enrollment fee is ridiculous. I will be seeking my membership elsewhere and it's such a shame because the facility itself is beautiful, although I'm also frustrated with staff that they don't enforce handwashing or wiping down the machines after use so increasing risk of staph, Mrsa, and other illnesses and disease read more

What a beautiful venue to see a show! We went for the Boar's Head/Dearborn Choral Festival, and it was fantastic for only $20. It's easy to park and walk in; my elderly Grandad did fine with his walker and all of the ushers were very helpful. It's decorated pretty inside and was such a fun evening. I'd love to go back and see something else there. We only went to the theater area, but it was very nice. read more

The workout machines and walking track are great. The pool is huge but has only 3 lap lanes. Women's locker room is average. However after a workout and swimming laps, I like to reward myself with time in the jacuzzi. I was not comfortable doing this because the jacuzzi was packed with all middle-aged men and no women. Despite tens of children playing in water, I also realized no adult women were inside the pool. This rec center is not a comfortable place for adult women who want to enjoy the pool and jacuzzi. read more

We came here for an Expo, but was 1 day early! Womp...Womp. Decided on a tour of Whats New at the Campus!! And there it was, da Wall-of-Phun!! "Com'On lets DO IT!!" Sooo, I roped her into Rock Climbing....Heights?! I laugh at the Thought! LOL...she joined in and HAD GREAT Smiles doing it. Our INstructor was Awesome. 'Left Foot here, Good!' 'Put your other Foot there, Alright you Got It!!' Gotta love her!! Great Upper Body Strengthing too....hunt, hint!! Great for Family, Groups, Events or Just a drop-in!! I've got a gym membership here and it's perfect for what I need. It's not super-busy and the price is right (with my corporate discount). I usually run on their track upstairs. It's kinda small (about 11 laps to a mile) but I've never seen more than 10 people on it at a time, so it doesn't get too congested. One annoyance is that the track overlooks the basketball courts where kids are constantly playing. Bring earbuds if only for this reason. There aren't many machines or weights here, but the ones they have are in excellent shape. There's a really nice lap pool, along with a slide and kid's splash area. I've never been in the pool so I can't comment on it. The locker rooms have many different sized lockers and are kept clean. They also have shower stalls. Additionally, I've been to an event in the theatre. There's really no such thing as a bad seat in this place. It's small but comfortable and the sound and lighting is professional. I wish more acts made their way to their theatre. read more

OMGosh....I love this beautiful venue! It almost reminds me of a smaller version, and a bit less ornate version of the Fox Theater in Detroit. We were invited to see a show from India and about Indian Culture. I am so sorry I cannot remember the proper name of it because I suffer from an MTBI, due to a car accident in 2002. I believe it was called something like "Yantra" or "Yatra"? Maybe someone who knows can write and tell me and I will fix it. But it doesn't stop the fact that we just enjoyed ourselves immensly and met so many nice people. A little girl who was a former student of my husbands (he's a 4th grade teacher) danced in 4 of the dance performances. Her parents emailed us and invited us to go and watch her dance. We had no idea what to expect but wanted to go and see this family. We also wanted to see their daughter in her dances. It was such a wonderful show! The music, dancing and performances were spectacular and the people working there were so kind and helpful! The person who looked at our ticket, even told us the best way to get to our seats; as I am disabled and it was very helpful advice. I can attest that this venue is very pretty and the temperature was perfect. It wasn't too hot or too cold. The one Yelper, Mel B., is right about the aisles, it would be better if there were aisles in the middle or some other way to break up the long ones. It's hard if you are disabled because even though there's and elevator for the floors, when you get there you still have to climb more of them and for me, that is very painful and difficult. That's why they lost just one star, otherwise it's a lovely place to go and the the seats are very comfortable with plenty of leg room! I'd like to add that it is also a very clean place and the stage was easily seen wherever you sit in the theater. read more

The first time we came here was for a high school graduation. The ushers seem to always be nice and ready to escort you to your seat. The atmosphere here reminds you of an ole fashion theater maybe back in the 30's or 40's. Very classy and elegant. The equipment is great, the place is spacious, comfortable temperature, nice people. I'd love it EXCEPT that staff does not monitor the upstairs floor exercise area well. I quit my membership years ago because too often I had to confront kids acting up there (upstairs). Went back this morning to give it another try. Nothing's changed. Teenage boys playing dodge ball while I'm trying to do sit-ups? No. Simple solution: a camera monitored from the front desk could squash that behavior...don't know why they don't do that. We went here for a Sleeping Beauty Ballet we were in Row L and pretty much in the middle, great seats. But really it looked like every seat was a great seat, it was a pretty intimate theater. And I should point out there is no middle isle to walk down, only a isle on both sides of the theater. So if your in a middle seat, your in the middle of like 15 or so people on both sides of you. They served alcohol and non alcohol drinks that you were able to bring in, no food or snacks. The only thing I didn't like about this place was the ushers letting people still go to their seats after the show had started. I mean its one thing that they can go to their seat between the dancers scenes, but I don't enjoy 6 people walking in front of me while I'm trying to enjoy the ballet JUST because they don't know how to be in their seats on time. Let them wait between scenes...it's that easy. read more

I absolutely love the gym here. It has everything, every kind of class, tons of machines and equipment, a couple of pools, a slide and a lazy river, and even a rock wall. It has an indoor track and basketball courts. The place is clean and the staff is super friendly. If you live or work in or around Dearborn, it's worth joining. read more

The theater itself was fine. I attended an event last night. Unfortunately there were not enough restrooms for women. All of the women spent their entire intermission and preshow time in line to use the very few bathrooms they had. Even in the balcony there were only two stalls. I would rather attend a theater where I can get in and out of the restroom, have a glass of wine, and speak with the people there from Michigan radio. The show itself was fantastic. read more

Venue is way too small! The close proximity adds a nice touch but this place could use at least 200 more seats. The design of the theatre could have been a little more opulent which it lacks. The stage is nice but once again it takes over the venue more than the audience. Box office does a nice job and at times it can be hectic. Overall this venue could get a bigger name or bigger celebrity if the theatre had more seats. read more

Civic Center is a great place to hang out with friends and kids. It has basketball courts, rock climbing, a fitness center, a pool, and many more. Civic center Accepts credit cards Bike parking Wheelchair accessible Good for kids Last time I went was September 14, 2019. The weights and the machines they have are in excellent shape and look good as new. The basketballs and the basketball rims and backboards are also in grade A shape. However, Civic Center does have a few flaws. A majority of the people that go there are either Very cocky and rude Very loud and annoying Start lots of brawls for dumb reasons. The workers are also a problem. Sometimes they take the ball and start shooting in the middle of the game while other kids are playing. Sometimes they don't even work they just hang out with the kids that go there. Besides the flaws, overall it is a great experience if you want to take your kids and have fun with friends and family. You won't regret going there and you'll have a great time. read more

This is a quaint venue for a play. I highly recommend that if there is a play or show to watch here, go! We had seats in the balcony near the rear, and I was pretty satisfied. I felt I had a great view of the stage. I do not believe there is a bad seat in the auditorium. The only strange thing about this auditorium is the seat numbering. Even numbers are all on one side and odd are on the other side. So, don't be alarmed if your seat numbers are 111, 113, and 115 you will be sitting next to each other. There are vending machines in the lobby area . Parking is very easy. There were even plenty of restrooms, too. read more

My sister wanted me to check out the pool with her and my niece, so I thought I'd give it a whirl. I was a little distraught that it cost $11 to use the facilities but what the hell, I was already there. The workout equipment was really nice and new and there was a huge wall for climbing which was kind of impressive. The pool area was pretty nice, there was a lazy river and spa, a water slide, lap pool, and a nice big hot tub. My only complaint was that there was about 5 lifeguards staring at you the whole time. With the lazy river and other contraptions going on, it kind of made me feel like I was in the Chocolate River in "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory", and the lifeguards were the Oompa Lumpas. read more

In terms of the rec center at the Performing Arts Center, you can't get a much better gym for this price. For less than $20 a month, I have access to dozens of cardio machines, weight machines, free weights, running track, pool, locker room, and basketball courts. The downside of this place is during the summer and when school is out kids run a little wild sometimes and no one tells them not to. A few of the other patrons like to bring their little ones into the cardio area and let them run around the machines because they're kids and they don't want to sit and watch mommy on the treadmill for 30 minutes. For the kids, there is a day care center, a whole pool just for them complete with water slides and lazy river, and a rock climbing wall--so there is stuff for them to do. I've also taken a few of the classes and they were all good. This place serves its purpose very well. read more

You're also never too far from the stage to get engrossed in the performance. Clean restrooms - Check. Not only were they clean but there's a crew waiting for intermission to be over so they could clean them again. So they stay clean. That's pretty awesome. read more

Gym is great here. Not many lunks, so no lunk alarm lol. The spin and body sculpt classes are my favorite. The trainers are all super nice and attentive. I love the track on the second floor where I can just run in my own frame of mind. I'm not a fan of treadmills and ellipticals. And this gym has plenty of them. read more

I wanted to overview an experience of what i (moreover my 5 yr old kids) faced during her swimming lessons. There is a lady instructor who teaches for "Sunfish" on both tuesday/thursday (don't remember her name, but she wears glasses and can see rudeness on her face every time). we had very bad experience with her, she treats my 5 yr old daughter as an untouchable thing (shows racism) and always try to avoid her to be in her class.. She tried to dump back my daughter to old class (Seahorse) where she passed once and we agreed thinking my daughter was not ready for "sunfish" but even second time she tried to dump my daughter to same class after she attempted to pass for second time. instructors who taught Seahorse twice to my daughter were asking us why she is being dumping back to same class.. I had same conversation with her and reported this incident twice to the management but there was no change in her behavior, except that i had to quit those classes and join my kid somewhere where kids are not treated with racism... Over all please avoid that lady (with spectacles and you can see that rudeness on her face). Advice to management: Dearborn is a place where Americans, Asians, African Americans live so please make sure such (the one instructor that i reported) doesn't come into picture especially for group classes... Took my son and a few neighbors for swimming. The receptionist was very nice and polite. She registered us and showed us the way to the locker rooms. The locker rooms were clean and so was the swimming area. Not a lot of space for visitors to sit as I wasn't swimming but there is if the place isn't packed. My son and his friends enjoyed 2 hours of swimming and utilizing the lazy river. I would recommend this place. read more

Evening front desk staff is incredibly rude. Reminds me of high school girls and their clicks. Always nasty on the phone when I call to ask a question or sign up for something. Thinking about canceling my membership and going elsewhere. read more
