This was all on February 24 ,2023 I return on 05/06/2023 to find the stone completed but as a standard cover . The photo of my love one is not on it as well as no one available to offer an explanation on the matter . I have all the text conversation between someone from there group and myself. She told me this pathetic paper would be sent to me two weeks after my payment...5 MONTHS FOR SOMETHING DONE INCORRECT and the stone wasn't even started, I had to approve this paper first. I have called and texted her non stop. I have no problem taking them to court for breach of contract and fraud since a 3 month job has taken almost a year and I still haven't received a response on an ETA for this stone. Standing…read moreguard over the carnival workers of the Miami Showmen's Association Rest at Southern Memorial Park is the life sized statues of an elephant and two lions imported from Italy. A motto on the elephant's blanket reads "Show folks. May they always be right, but right or wrong, Show folks." This is the final resting place of many of south Florida's carnival workers who follow the fair from place to place. In life they drove the trucks, guessed peoples weight, operated the rides, and manned the concessions. These nomads are now together in one place for final rest. People interred here include David Endy, the first president of the Miami Showmen's Association. He died in 1982 after more than 50 years of living the carnival life. There are 1,000 graves in all divided by peoples faith, Catholic, Jewish, and Protestant. Many of the markers contain peoples nicknames. "Peanuts", "Lively", "Porky", and "Duke". The first Showmen's Association of circus and carnival workers was founded in Chicago in 1913 as the Showmen's League of America. They organized to fight for insurance and health benefits for workers. The tradition of associations selling burial plots started after a deadly train wreck in 1918 killed more than 100 people from the Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus. The Miami Showmen's Association was formed in 1944 by Endy as a social and benevolent organization. There are three showmen's groups in Florida, but this one is oldest. Through the years it's membership has dwindled. In the 1950's cemetery plots were sold to members for $50 to make sure that no one was buried in a potter's field. The elephant can be seen from just about everywhere in the cemetery. I love the story of this place and how everyone took care of each other. Carnival workers stick together and support each other. It is definitely an of the beaten track stop if you are in the area.

This is a historic cemetery located in the City of Hallandale Beach. This seven acre cemetery is…read moreover a hundred years old and contains many of the city pioneers. A handwritten work order for the cemetery dates back to 1904. I walked around the older part of the cemetery and I found a veteran's grave from the Spanish American War ( (April 21 - December 10, 1898). The graves on the older side have people who were born in the 1800's. Unfortunately the location of a lot of the older graves have been lost through the years. If a family didn't purchase a headstone, there was no marker on the grave site. Other names eroded on concrete stones from decades ago. The city has made an effort to preserve as many graves as possible and the cemetery is neat and free of debris. There aren't monuments like Woodlawn in West Palm Beach but there is a lot of Hallandale history if you dig in. The cemetery is still accepting burials and the newer graves are on the other side of the cemetery. Visiting hours are from 7:30 AM to dusk daily.

They decided on a 2 hour viewing so everyone could say their proper goodbyes. They have a screen available to play video or pictures if you have a USB. They can also play your loved ones favorite music if you provide a playlist or a CD etc. It was nice hearing some of the music that brought us back sweet memories. The facility was clean and the staff only came out to greet everyone in the beginning and at the end to give their last condolences. Giving us our privacy. Everyone appreciated that. R.I.P.
