You know, I often call myself, Fortune's Daughter and the fact this business is just down the road from my is one of the reasons why. More than 20 years in the Massage Therapy world as a therapist giving massage and I love the work and receiving the work more each year. I have gone to Massage and Healing Center 6 times and each time had a different therapist. What I marvel at specifically is the excellence of each individual therapist. I have sent friends here as gifts and they report back to me their therapists were also excellent which makes me so happy. The professionalism Is beyond reproach. The rooms are cozy and super clean which is important . Often the owner is at the front desk and so gracious and warm, it's a pleasure to just show up or stop by to book. My one suggestion is, if you're like me and like to take advantage of all the possible add ons or specialties, make sure your therapist is aware of the details booked. I like to add an extra half hour of foot reflexology to the end of my main massage no matter what I booked and one time somehow therapist didn't know. She did do the whole time I paid for and she was wonderful and it was just an epic massage, period. I just need the reflexology for my neuropathy from diabetes. I can only sing the praises of the full time I received but if you're like me and need something specific tell your therapist before you start. This is a minor snafu that can happen in any high end business that offers such a plethora of therapies. I drive past here on my commute to work daily so naturally I was curious to check it out. My family has a history of professional massage therapists so I love to get a good massage. I set up my appointment online which was very easy and got a confirmation for my appointment right away with details on time, massage therapist, and address. I showed up 10 minutes early for appointment to fill out paperwork. My massage therapist, Dawn, was very approachable, kind, and helpful. The clinic is very small, clean, and comfortable. I had a 60 minute $70 therapeutic massage. Dawn really focused on my desired areas and was fantastic. I felt so relaxed and better after my visit. I'll definitely be back in the future. read more

I don't get 'relaxation' massages. I go for a massage when I'm in pain and I need a good therapist to help break up scar tissue, release triggered/knotted muscles, and get me back into the various activities I enjoy. Over the years, I've had numerous sessions with practitioners of Rolfing, Airrosti, various modalities of massage, chiropractic, acupuncture, etc. - and it's been extremely rare for me to feel a notable difference the same day of treatment. Today I had a massage with Kevin, and I can't say enough about his professionalism and effectiveness. He truly listened to what I told him was bothering me - a specific area under my shoulder blade as well as a little known muscle called the "pectineous". In the couple of minutes while I was changing, he did some research on the pectineous, in particular, and came in ready to address my issues. Not only did Kevin address those areas for me, but he seemed to have a true sense of all of the other surrounding areas that needed attention and just how to get them to relax. I honestly don't recall ever having felt so amazed about the results of a massage before this. With that said, I have a lot of areas that have been chronically knotted up, so I have already booked another session with Kevin for later this week. I really can't thank him enough nor overstate just how effective his technique was as resolving my pain. read more

The best massage l ever had! Excellent deep tissue application over entire body exceeded my expectations. My body still feels revitalized several days later. Kudos to Allie and her staff of superb therapists. Trust me, they are relief specialists. Their healing techniques through an alternative approach to the medical approach has been a godsend. They have addressed a chronic illness that l have suffered through for years that medically had been treated unsuccessfully with medication. Honestly, I found this place because my previous massage therapist came here, and I tracked her down! It's actually a bit closer to my house than where she was previously. It's a pleasant surprise when you walk in. The general area is a little sketchy, I'm not going to lie, but I've been around the east side long enough to know that sometimes that's okay. It's a cute standalone building that reminds me of a house. It almost doesn't fit in to the neighborhood which I prefer! I walked in on a gloomy, rainy evening, and the entry way is small, but it's softly lit with lamps and is bright enough to fill out your initial forms, very cozy. There are Young Living essential oil posters on the walls so they use high quality oils when you receive services that include them. The building is right on Shadeland so you can hear traffic while you're in one of the treatment rooms, but the massage you're getting totally makes that a non-issue. The tables are nice and warm too! They don't have a lot of hot towels, but you can request them or heating pads from your therapist. You can sign up for appointments online which I prefer. Back in February, my fiance and I both desperately needed a massage. We went online and found the Massage & Healing Center and booked a couples massage with some extra service, I think it was hot stones. First bummer - the gal who made our reservation missed the extra service and when we showed up, the 2 gals who were there were not trained in that service. Oh well. We just paid for the service we got. My cousin is a massage therapist, and she typically gives me a combination deep tissue and swedish massage. I carry tons of stress in my neck and shoulders. The gal who I had tried very hard to work those muscles, but I never felt like they got fully relaxed. Not sure if I can just relax better with someone I know, or what the deal is. Overall, a pretty decent experience I guess. I wish I could give 3.5 stars. That's more what I feel like. I would recommend this place over Massage Envy any day (the last massage I had there, the guy scratched my back all up - EW!) read more

My wife and I went here recently for a couple's massage on out anniversary. I should have been tipped off by the fact this place is basically located in a shack next to a dry cleaner's. But I thought I'd give it a shot. I went to the restroom to get cleaned up beforehand expecting the typical shower setup... Nope. Ok, no big deal, but I was kind of bothered that they had adds and pamphlets of the "miracle antioxidant cure" they were selling plastered all over the walls. Very tacky and not relaxing. Next warning was the waiver they made you sign. These are typical, however theirs made specific comments about how they do not provide any sexual services and a line that they will legally prosecute you for non-payment. All of which are fair, but it made me wonder what type of clientele they get if these things have to be put in writing... Oh well, perhaps the massage itself would be good. Nope, I specifically requested a deep tissue massage and asked for more pressure numerous times throughout the session. Also, the woman clearly did not read the form I filled out referring to my current areas of stiffness. I asked multiple timed for her to focus on these areas and even pointed to them for her. She replied "I will in a minute" and never did. She focused mostly on my soft tissue and the only places I got any real pressure were over my hip bones and on both of my upper arm bones. Not sure if you've ever had someone press hard and massage your bones, but it is not very pleasant. My wife did find her massage relaxing, but ironically she claimed her masseuse was too rough. Well, I did pay, but I will not be back and I'd recommend others to stay away as well. Too bad. read more

I'm still not convinced that the message went the full hour and I actually ended up leaving in more pain than I left because of the weird places that she chose to focus on. I wish I could give a better review, but I never got to experience my massage. I booked two prenatal massages for a friend and I who were both visiting from out of state. I received an email confirming the date and time for our appointment. When we arrived we were told our appointment was 3 hours earlier and we had to leave because there were other customers coming in. I showed the confirmation email to the gentleman working because it stated the appointment was at 2:30. He basically just shrugged his shoulders and said he had it listed as 11:30. Since we had driven almost an hour for our massages only to be turned away when we arrived 1 star is the best I can give. read more

They offer online scheduling, but the last 2 times I've used this and received an email confirmation, Richard calls me an hour before I'm scheduled and tells me that I am not booked because it should not have shown available. They can't get their online and phone schedules together, so I am done trying. Have had decent massages here, but their scheduling is a mess. Guess they don't need business bad enough to fix it. I decided to try to make an appointment for a massage (someplace) last minute. While looking on Yelp, I came across this place. It's close to my house, but I couldn't picture it. I called and they got me in within a few hours. I must have driven by dozens (maybe even hundreds) of times over the last 11 years, but never paid the sign and building much attention. (It's a small, stand-alone brick building.) I booked a 1 hour massage for $65. The girl was fantastic! I loved the fact that they got me in quickly, they're close to my home, and it's clean and nicely decorated in the rooms. (Oh, and I LOVED the heated table!) I will definitely go back. read more

I love Allie and Richard. I started going to Allie when I had hurt my hip and knee. I had been to the Dr and all I got were pain pills and muscle relaxers. They helped as long as I was on them but as soon as I quit the pain returned. After a few treatments with Allie I was totally out of pain. My mother had been experiencing horrible and debilitating headaches for 6 months she had had MRIs, CT scans and plenty of pain medications. Nothing was working. I was able to convince her to give Allie a try. And after just a couple treatments she starting noticing a difference. She continued to go for a month or so and is no longer in pain and is back to being my "Mom". I have had couple massages also. WIth Allie and Richard. Richard does a GREAT job also. As far as the comment on the office. Its wonderful. Its clean, professional and relaxing. There is never up-selling of additional treatments or services. They dont push any of their products. They are not "just" a massage center. They actually care about their patients/clients and want to help them live a better life, pain free. read more

I have a mixed reaction to my first appointment here. I went in for a nice relaxing massage but made the mistake of indicating that I sometimes feel pain in my neck and have tension headaches -- which changed my massage to deep tissue, but I guess that's what I needed instead of a soft peaceful one, so that's on me. My therapist's cellphone rang on two separate occasions during the session which was very unprofessional, and when someone came in the building during my massage, she opened the door to greet them which I found uncomfortable as most of my body was exposed. It might help to sound proof the rooms or something, I could hear everything going on in the front room. I could tell my therapist really wanted to make me feel better and she seemed nice, but I won't come back because I want to find a quiet, peaceful environment where I can't hear people talking or the doors slamming when I'm paying $60 (plus tip) to relax. Also, after I did their survey and told them about all this, I got an e-mail from them that "we will contact you as soon as we can" -- that was May 17 -- not really sure what that was about. read more

My husband and I had booked a couples massage for my birthday. To start things out, the girl at the desk didn't have our names on her sheet and she had to call the owner to check the hard copy and hers had one of our names down right, so they let us have our scheduled time. It took them a very long time to set stuff up so it was good we showed up early after the appointment debacle. The massages were ok, but the male owner wanted to work on me since there was a woman therapist with him to work on my husband. I wasn't really comfortable with the idea and I wish they would have mentioned it on the phone that I would have a guy...I would have requested a woman. I just kind of got the feeling from them that it was our fault that their schedule was not right and that they were doing us a favor by "fitting us in" (as they said). I thought the massage itself was just OK. I have definitely had better. However, that is not what turned me off of this place. The whole place is disorganized and chaotic, creating an almost claustrophobic feel. They need to completely rework the studio and remove the clutter. Also, the water, which you can hear clearly come on and off during your massage is a nuisance. While having the massage, I specifically told him where to work on and I feel like I was ignored. He also talked, a lot. Which is fine to start out, but I come to relax and for the peace and quiet. My sister, who had another masseuse, put on her paper she specifically did not want her feet done and she did it anyway's because she did not look at the paper beforehand. Overall not impressed, and for the money you could go somewhere with better atmosphere and masseuses'. read more

I have been going to the Massage and Healing Center myself on and off for 3 years now and have been taking my boyfriend regularly for the past year and we are always pleased with our experience. The facility is a mostly brick stand alone building and is kept very clean and neat. Whether we had a couples massage or I had one alone our therapists were always professional and very effective.
