The rest: 1) There is a waiting room but the front door is kept locked for safety, I assume and understand. So, you have to wait in your car. The waiting room does not have chairs anyway. 2) Appointments are scheduled back to back. This means that if you are ready to go to the massage room instead of taking a restroom break, your room is not ready. 3) I scheduled a 50-minute service, arrived 4 minutes earlier (all time points are based on my phone clock for precision). The front door was opened in a couple of minutes, the massage therapist was letting out and had a small talk with the previous client. Then, said that the room needs to be prepared and gave me veeeery long time to get myself on the table, only to come in without knocking. The massage ended 5 minutes before my scheduled end time! I assume that all dressing and undressing are considered a part of the massage time . That's the first for me! 3) The most important part: Massage itself was Swedish, so I didn't expect any deep tissue pressure. However, I have been getting massages for over 20 years including massages at the Deep Creek Lake area. I could simply tell that my muscles groups were not worked during this massage. They also have crystals all over the ceiling. My masseuse told me they literally take them down a few times a year and bury them to charge them. This was probably one of the more expensive massages I have had, but if you arrive early or stay late and make the most of the spa it feels more worth it. All the amenities you need to freshen up are provided and the robes are OH so soft. When you book a service, you have access to the pool, saunas and whirlpool. There is also a fireside lounge on the third floor where you can also reserve to relax in. Kim, the aesthetician that gave me my facial took the time to explain everything, was very thorough in evaluation of my skin and took my concerns in mind in her treatment. She didn't rush the appointment and made honest recommendations without trying to sell me any products. She was great! They have biologique recherche products, which provides another type of facial experience. Cons: really not too much. Would be nice to have a common waiting are for men and women, especially a couple waiting for treatments. Men's steam sauna was broken at the time. For the women's, there was a strong smell of chlorine in the Eucalyptus steam sauna. For such a luxury place, felt like these small details add up when you are paying 600+ for experiences. Likelihood of returning: high when at the resort again. However, it's not open to the public if you're not staying on the property.

But this is rural Maryland, so go with the right attitude and expectations and you will love it. The couple who runs Haley Farm are down-to-earth, sincere and friendly without ever being intrusive. It is very much like staying at your favorite Aunt's house; she busies herself cooking and cleaning and fixin' for you, but she's always happy to set down her apron or dusting cloth and have a nice, long chat. The many, many animals who live on Haley Farm are no slouches either; they start your stay with a hearty welcome and a willingness to let anyone hold them, pet them and feed them. They are quite adorable and no small part of the charm there. Haley Farm would not be so very Haley Farm without them. The breakfast is delicious and bonus, there's a frig upstairs for the guests in case you need both brownies *AND* cheetos *AND* a coke at 2 a.m. which we did. You can also keep your own stash of wine in there, or whatever else you need refrigerated. When I think about Haley Farm, I think of the classic Americana cross-stich, "Home, Sweet, Home." And if you think of it that way too, instead of trying to compare it to more urban venues, you will really relax and feel like part of the family there.
