I was given a massage gift from my daughters for my birthday and received the most wonderful massage from Melissa. This was the most wonderful and quite frankly the BEST massage I have ever had. I have had many but none have compared to the work by Melissa. She was gentle but with enough pressure to help with areas I have been experiencing difficulties. She was not rushed, her techniques were that of a very well experienced and professional massage therapist. I would without a doubt refer Melissa to anyone. She was so wonderful and I cannot wait to schedule with her again really soon. This location was also very clean, inviting and the waiting areas were very relaxing and soothing. I can't speak about the massage services, however the facial I received was nothing to write home about. I had what was supposed to be a 1 hour facial. It started a few minutes late, ended a few minutes early and at least 20 minutes were spent giving me a forearm massage. I brief hand massage with moisturizer and warming gloves is what I'm accustomed to, but this just seemed to be a time killer. The facial was basic and something I could have done myself at home. No information, product recommendations, or specific treatments were recommended. It was "fine"....that's about all I can say to describe it. My fiancé and I got a couples massage from Alona and Anthony and it was fantastic! My back has been killing me and Alona relieved so much pain. My last review got deleted for not being specific enough, so here we go again. My husband and I did not have a good experience at this location of Massage Envy. I have had better experiences at other locations and places nearby. The reasons why are as follows: 1. I called 3 times prior to schedule the massage. They must not have many people working at this location. Additionally, we were booking this massage with a giftcard. The person on the phone, kept requesting credit card info on file in case of a cancelation. I do not give that kind of info out over the phone and I refused to give it out when I'm paying for a service with a gift card. They allowed me to give the giftcard number because they wanted to get the booking. 2. When I requested a couples massage, they said we had to have a male and female masseuse. I normally prefer a female masseuse but because it was so hard to schedule, I figured we would just take the time they had available. The masseuses that we had did not have any reviews written about them, which I believe should have been a red flag and not a good sign. 3. When we got there, we were the only people in the waiting room with one other person who was on the two person couch. Normally when we have a couples massage, they put you in your own room or give you a glass of champagne. They sat us across the room from each other and only offered us a cup of water (not even in the bottle!) 4. When we saw who the masseuses would be, we both looked at each other in fear. My husband had an older lady, who was quite heavy... in person and heavy handed during the massage as well. My masseuse was heavily tattooed, up both arms and just didn't look the part. He also smelled weird. I immediately felt uncomfortable and probably would have left if I was by myself. The massage tables were not next to each other. They were in two separate rooms with the door open in between. 5. When they asked us what areas to focus on, I said neck and shoulders. We both got full body massages and some of their massage tactics are rather unique and downright strange. I had the strangest face massage of my life and left there legitimately bruised. My husband was extremely sore as well. 6. Someone reached out to us over email and offered us a massage enhancement for next time. No, thank you. We will pass. I can't see this place staying in business for much longer. The people of Birmingham have better people and places to get massages from. read more

I bought a membership because I had such a good experience in the previous state I lived in but this location I have gone 4 times and I have had a very subpar experience. I received a facial this last time and my therapist had to be told that I was there and my session started 10 minutes late, the water used on my face was cold because they did not have warm water, there was no relaxing music playing and at the end of the session my therapist told me she would meet me in the lobby with water, she was not there, she also left the table up so high I stumbled when I got off the table (I'm 5"0 tall). I watched videos and read lots of reviews about cupping massage. When I saw that massage envy offered it, I set an appointment. When my therapist Cheryl and I walked into the therapy room for our prechat, I had mentioned the bruising that I saw on peoples videos. She quickly educated me, telling me that it's not bruising. She then told me that she did not do anything deep tissue and then explained what she was going to do. She told me how to undress and get on the table, and she stepped out of the room. When she came back to the room, she knocked and asked if I was ready, I said o yes. When she came in and shut the door before she even touched me, she said my energy was telling her that she needed to focus on my legs. That blew my mind because I had not mentioned the pain and cramping that I had had in my legs lately. I was so excited and looking forward to the rest of this experience. She skillfully glided those cups across parts of my body, leaving a couple sitting in areas that needed more attention. And oh my goodness, those little cups have some power to them. She had asked me many times about any pain and the pressure. When she mentioned that our time was up and that we were done. I was sad to see it end, but I felt very good. She reminded me to drink plenty of extra water and handed me a cup. Thank you, Cheryl. I will be back real soon. I would highly recommend him. I hesitated about getting a Wellness membership but the gal in the front office carefully explained how I can use my FSA account so I don't have to pay out of pocket. Don't waste your time or money here! They care nothing about their customers. I cannot afford to get a massage more than every 6 months and I booked last night online hoping to get one with all the stress of the holidays and everything else in life going on right now. I had a family emergency this morning and unfortunately had to cancel. I was told that even though there were several hours before my appointment I was still being charged half the rate for the inconvenience so $90. I am appalled that this is a corporate policy. If you are even a little bit busy in life don't book here. I was told I couldn't change it after 9 pm. I booked at 945pm. I'm without a massage and can't afford another one now after paying the fee. Wow! The front office did a great job with pairing me with a new massage therapist. This location was super convenient for me. My new massage therapist, Bobby, was absolutely incredible! He asked about the table temperature, lighting, pressure and multiple times with that being said he was already on par. The pressure was awesome, his technique is flawless. Top notch! Awefull experience. After having my face burned from a malfunctioning steamer during a facial, nothing was done, except to aski for the next appointment. No refund or anything. The asthetician even confirmed it malfunctioned with the OM. Cancelled my membership after 5 yrers due to deteriorating staff and professionalism, was told that I had 6 massages left to use, but ONLY had 8 weeks to use them up. Then 2 months later my CC is charged, go into review my cancellation agian with proof, but the mng who "supposedly" proccessed the cancellation no longer works there...canceled a second time. I had an appointment today at 3:30. In new to Michigan so I accidentally put an different location on apples maps. When I got there I realized my mistake and called back. The employee said he had to charge my card and I asked since it was an honest mistake if that could not occur. He put me on hold to talk to the manager. When he got back on the line he asked if he could change my card cause unfortunately he had to. I said no I'd like to speak to a manager. He put me on hold again and came back and said he already charged my card after I had said no I wanted to speak to the manager! I did not consent my card to be charged especially because I booked a massage to the other massage envy I went to. When I asked after my card was charged can o speak to a manager he said he was the only one there. I am disappointed because how did he get consent to charge my card if his manager wasn't there without my permission. Had the 60 minute massage with hydration boost, foot and hand exfoliating treatments. It was less than impressive as a whole. The staff was decent. My masseuse was very subdued (I think he may have been tired based on the yawning). The music was kind of bothersome but I tried to tune it out. The hydro boost, hand exfoliating and foot exfoliating were ok. I didn't feel like they really added anything noticeable to my experience, so I wouldn't do them again. Perhaps I would have done better using that extra money on the 90 minute massage. My overall assessment is "meh". It wasn't horrible but it wasn't great either. Okay so I'm very picky when it comes to massages. I like the idea of getting a massage but I don't like being in pain while they work out all my kinks. I know. I know. Getting the kinks out is kinda what a massage is all about, right? Wrong! In my opinion, it should be about relaxation AND getting some of the kinks out but not in a deep tissue massage type of way (been there, done that, not going back!). Well, I purchased a membership with Massage Envy. My home base was the West Bloomfield location. The people there were nice but I never left feeling like they made it worth my while and I've gone there quite a bit. My husband and I decided to try a different location and Birmingham was the chosen one. Man! What a difference. Not only was the setup a bit different but when I tell you I received the best massages of my life there, I mean it! I've only had 2 but both times I left feeling like I wanted to marry each masseuse. Danya and Demetrius are magic. They both listened to what areas I said I wanted them to focus on and then (get this) actually focused on them! The WB location never did that. I was a little skeptical about Demetrius only because he is a man and what not but I let that go real quick once he laid those hands on me. He even stretched me out a bit. I could literally go on and on about how amazing they were. If you are looking for an amazing massage experience, check out this location and ask for those two. I will never go here or any massage envy location ever again. My massage was horrible, the front desk said they would give me the intro rate again. Set an appt and had to cancel due to an emergency they said on a Saturday 2 weeks ago they would refund my money. They never did. They said it would be refunded that day. Following Tuesday I called in as I hadn't seen the refund and the lady said sorry the manager wasn't in Saturday (contrary to what I was told saturday) and was in then Tuesday and would refund it right away. Never happened. Called today the manager called me back and said "we can't get into our system to refund it, it may be a few days or few weeks for a refund" sounds like a scam and lie. She walked me to the waiting room, and asked if she could get me anything while I waited. Shelby, my esthetician, is the best! I would have left ME awhile back but the manager had a delightful sense of business and explained some of their reasons for silly membership rules that if you did not sign up again you LOST (in my case something like 5) unused massages. Say what? she explained some people had tried to "milk" their system and get freebies...but she understood i was not interested in any such thing so i guess she "bent" their silly rules about taking away unused sessions. when i had to transfer to Birmingham i got a call wondering about coming back. I said is the manager that took care of me before available. they said she was gone. I explained that was sad because she was the only one i thot that understood ME policies on unused massages was CRAZY. they said "thats why she's gone" THEN SHE HUNG UP ON ME. Short story. I was more sore on my left side than I thought, and asked for less pressure and he was very responsive. He used some hot/warm towels, and also had me do some deep-breathing - both of which I loved.
