Convenient monthly massages at a chain spa but nothing spectacular. My experiences with these type of massage places is always mixed. It all depends on who you get or the staff that is working that day. The ladies are a little scatter brained. One time they entered the wrong tip amount and another time, they charged me incorrectly and I didn't realize until I checked my credit card. It was billed for an extra massage appointment for the month, not as my monthly credit. My massage therapist is Eric and he is super sweet. He is considered deep level massage and though he is pretty good, I still feel he doesn't quite get all the knots out like I would like. Due to last minute schedule conflicts and their confusing booking site, I called the location to cancel my appointment. The receptionist, was not helpful at all in helping canceling my appointment and told me I would be charged a fee. It shouldn't have been a hassle to cancel an appointment when I called to do so within the first 10 mins of booking the appointment. I had an excellent experience at Massage Envy. I booked an appointment online on my phone the day before and picked out a time most convenient for me, and I picked the massage therapist as well. I arrived for my appointment, I did the online check in right before walking in the door. (They send you a text message with a link) I walked in and was greeted immediately and they confirmed my check in. They had me fill out a form on an iPad that took about 5 minutes. Then, I proceeded to do my massage and stretch session. Both were relaxing and excellent. Room lighting is low and dim, there is relaxing low spa music in the background, no noise at all, and love the aroma therapy options. I ended my massage with an exfoliating foot massage as well. I feel relaxed and brand new. Everything is clean and sanitized, and staff wear masks for Covid precautions. I love how easy it is to book an appointment online hassle free and just walk in to get your massage. I also did all the payments online while booking the appointment as well which just leaves room for you to just focus and walk in to your massage on the day of your appointment. I finally found one good masseuse after trying a few and then she left as I hear it is common there. I tried someone else and she messed up my shoulder not long after I had a nerve block and caused a problem with my hip which was fine before I had the massage. Although I am writing this review late, I received a massage from this location back in July of 2021. I specifically booked this massage for relaxation, peace of mind and to release some tension as I was in the fire academy at the time. This review/rating isn't about the quality of message (which are just fine), it's about the company's draconian and antiquated policies regarding memberships. My wife and I were talked into a membership. We were there frequently enough that we thought it might be worth it. For the first two months or so it was. Life got a little complicated and we weren't able to go for a while. We were told this wasn't a problem as the monthly messages would "roll over" and accumulate. Great, right? Yeah not so much... Over the course of the next two years (or so) we accumulated like 20 messages each (having paid ~$2,400 in monthly memberships). This is when the problems really started. First; my sister asked if she and her boyfriend could use one (each) of our accumulated messages. Message Envy allows this if they pay an additional $10. Well I never gave my sister permission but she and her boyfriend waltzed in and got their messages (taking one each from my wife's and my accounts) without ANY authorization. A few weeks later my wife decided she didn't want to keep paying for this back-log of messages that were piling up so she canceled her membership. They didn't give any hassle in the cancellation but, also, didn't give any warning of what was to come. If you cancel your membership THEY WILL NOT LET YOU USE THE MESSAGES YOU HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR! That's right... they just steal your money. Unless you continue to pay them you cannot use the messages you have already paid for. THIS IS STEALING. There's no way around it. It's theft, pure and simple. I called them to tell them I needed to cancel my membership as well but that I would not be losing my accrued messages and they said that I would, indeed, lose them. No wiggle room. They simply don't care. Just kept spitting the old, "it's company policy, sir" nonsense. Eventually my bank issued new cards so the account was canceled anyway. I called them to get the situation resolved and I'm told I need to talk to the manager. Fine. She actually called me back a few days later but I missed the call. The her (their) credit she has made a few more attempts to get in touch with me but I've been very busy and she always seems to call when I'm in the car (and I don't use the phone in the car which NOBODY should either). If they make good and let us use the massages we have already paid for we would be happy to reinstate our memberships (if they change their policy) when we've used up the back-logged messages and update this review to be more favorable. As it stands now, I would advise EVERYbody to avoid a membership at this place. TL:DR; Do not pay for a membership. They won't let you use the messages you HAVE PAID FOR if you cancel the membership. read more

After an extremely stressful day, I decided to stop by Massage Envy in Mission Bay. The front desk associate who was helping me could tell that it was a rough day and was so sweet. She was genuinely concerned that I wasn't feeling well. I do have very bad anxiety so she suggested I use the Aromatherapy called anxiety release & it was amazing! They mix the oil into the lotion and the smell, with the massage, made me feel so much more relaxed & less anxious. Was a plus that I got to take the rest of the oil/lotion mix home. Deplorable service. Long time member I have seen constant turnover on the therapist side as well as front desk. There is little to no accountability from the front desk or therapists. Therapy sessions are typically 40 minutes long in an hour session. They no longer tell you check in our check out times. I gifted a massage to my coworker and the therapist stated how unhappy the staff was with there pay and really depended on tips to live. If there is an issue don't bother the manager they don't care. As well big problem with same day cancelations from the therapist!!! Good luck in the Mission Bay Plaza they only true care about signing up new members after the intro for sales numbers. (in mission bay plaza) i was given a membership quote of $39/month and many months later found out they were charging my credit card $59/month. when i called to report this the manager said whoever quoted me $39/month no longer works there and the charge is $59/month. so they chrged me for the rest of the year at a rate i never agreed to and never would have agreed to AND they said i wasnt able to get all the massages they owed me. they charge you a monthly membership and will charge your card without fail every month whether you get a massage or not. i was told if you didnt use your massage the credits would "roll over" and you would get 2 the next month etc. but its simply not true because when i went to use them up, i was told "you cant do that, i dont know who told you that but that person no longer works here" they tell me this every time i have a problem. or they say "i dont see that noted in your account file, the last person you spoke with didnt write a note or anything" how convenient. yet they charged me full price for 4 massages i never got!! when i called to complain the front desk girl said they would be "doing me a favor if i got any massages back" (which i didnt get). i asked her "what part of giving me what i paid full price for is a favor?" the front desk girls are very rude and talk down to the customers. they just steall your money. i didnt renew my membership with them because i always came out of there more stressed out than before i went in. also, they end their massages 10 minuted early if youre a member. when i complained about this to the front desk i was told the skipped time was to give me time to change and have quiet time. i can change my clothes in 30 seconds, what do i need the other 8 minuted of quiet time for? i wanted a full massage because i paid a full price. one pro is that the massage therapist vanessa is amazing! i wish i knew where else she worked because i refuse to set foot here ever again. very high turnover and whatever youre promised, they will tel you "the person who promised you that or said that or claimed that or helped you last time no longer works here" I found a much better place called massage circuit in boca raton and i'm much happier. their front desk staff was very professional, courteous and didnt pressure us into their membership at all. I have been with massage envy for years and while the masseuses are fine, after my last experience with the owner, Nina, I am cancelling my membership. After booking an hour and a half massage and then calling to confirm, I was told they made a mistake and only booked an hour. The owner said Hakuna Mata, it can't be changed. Her attitude is terrible and she clearly does not care about customer service or stand behind her appointments. If you were at a restaurant and the food came out spoiled, would you expect management to say it is in the past so just deal with it.
