My LMT talked about herself the entire massage. Did not ask if I wanted conversation, she initiated it and I felt obligated to engage. I wanted to leave a tip on a one hour massage but 20% came up as over $30 tip! I inquired and was told the machine is set for a 90 minute massage, I stated I had a 60 minute massage and that I was not leaving a $30 + tip on a 60 minute/&90 massage. Receptionist changed the machine to 60 minute massage and a more reasonable tip was issued. Massage was mediocre at best, never returning. Having had a ME membership a a different location for years our family was very disappointed when the location closed. Even though it was not the most convenient location, Clackamas was the only ME that had an appointment available when we needed it. My husband gifted one hour massages for my daughter and for me. When he booked both massages about a week ago he assumed that it would be the same price as our previous massages a month ago, $85. for each one hour massage. After my massage was complete I was told it would be $145. Thinking I was being charged for a longer massage I asked "For What"? The receptionist said for a one hour massage. She said their prices had gone up but, that if I wanted to sign up for a membership the charge would be $85. Let me get this straight! Your prices went up in the one week between the booking of my appointment and my arrival for said appointment and you did not inform me when I confirmed the appointment, or, better yet, call me before I made the drive, or even after I arrived before I received the massage that your prices had gone up so that I could make the decision whether I wanted to pay for the up charge? Clearly this is deceptive business practices because there are reviews here expressing the same complaint that are well before the booking of my appointment. Our daughter was ill and instead of cancelling she gave the appointment to our son (who was also charged $145.) and she rescheduled. In light of the up charges, my husband called today to ask what the charge would be for the rescheduled appointment and when he was told it would be $145. He asked why is was no longer $85. He complained about the uninformed nature of the charges from our service yesterday and was told a different story than I was. He was told by the same receptionist I talked to that they assumed we knew that if we did not have a current membership the first service would be $85. the second would be $145. and the third would be $218 for a one hour massage. How could we have possibly known this? If true we should have been informed even before we had the massages a month ago or at least when booking the second massages. There will be no third service because we were never informed of this practice and certainly will not be extorted into paying for a membership at this location because of it. The text message on my phone to confirm my appointment stated that they use Tippy service for the gratuity for their therapists. I used this separate terminal for my last service. Lacks professionalism and is extremely difficult to cancel a membership. The site requires a card on file while the cancellation is long and requires calling the store during store hours, you are then sent an email that arrives in 24-48 hours, you then have to fill out the form and email it back, FINALLY they will cancel the membership after you complete all of that. This process is way too long and the owner Laszlo Szalvay is very rude and used mine and my mother's first and LAST name when responding to my her review which had nothing to do with me. The appointment process, cancellation process and front desk is a total nightmare. I tried to call and take my credit card off an account that wasn't mine and I received an answering machine. I left a message and asked for a return call- which I never received. I had the person who was on the account call as well and cancel his membership, which he did. They were asked to sign cancellation paperwork- that was filled out by message envy, which they did--but now message envy says they never received the formal cancellation and wants to keep two unauthorized payments on my credit card. They knew we wanted to cancel, sent the filled out paperwork, and never followed up as they continued to charge a card that was no longer authorized or the members card! No apologies or accountability - they only have one person at the front desk is their reason‍ Terrible customer service at best!! I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. Terrible customer service. I had car issues, and was going to be "too" late, so they cancelled it and charged my credit card, even though I was almost there. I asked why I couldn't just have a shorter massage (not asking anyone to stay later than my originally scheduled end time). No flexibility at all in the policy to the customer's benefit. Complete chaos with their computer system. Showed up for a 330PM appt; was told it had been cancelled (sick therapist). I was text - I was not. Also was told I would have paid out of pocket because my account was cancelled - it is not. Found out they still have not changed my account to my new number - they cannot do that there - so while account is not cancelled, it is suspended because auto charge did not work - they text me about that but since that is not my number, never got that text either. This has been one of the most poorly managed customer experiences I've encountered. I signed up for a Massage Envy membership upon the recommendation of a friend. From the outset, the experience was frustrating. The online scheduling tool never worked, I had to call in to schedule all of my appointments which was very cumbersome because this location would only pick up their phones about once a day, and would return calls at absurd hours when I was not in front of my calendar. They agreed that the scheduling tool did not work, and that there was no plan in motion to get that fixed. Additionally, even when we were finally able to make voice contact, there would be no available appointments for 1 to 2 months, and I was told that even though there were no appointments available to book, that I would still be charged monthly, and though the credits would accrue, I would only be able to use them while I had an active membership. In other words, because of their lack of appointments, I would have to somehow fit in two appointments each month in order to use these credits that were just piling up. I finally canceled my membership out of frustration, and was told that these credits would simply disappear because I was no longer paying a monthly fee. After months of battling this, The manager finally agreed to let me use my credits which I had paid hundreds of dollars for at this point. We scheduled my remaining 6 credits, once a month, six months into the future. Four of those 6 appointments were canceled by Massage Envy, less than 24 hours in advance, not even with a phone call, but via an automated email simply saying my appointment has been canceled. I then had to call in, leave a message, and wait hours for contact before even learning The reason for the cancellation, or whether this was just a glitch in the system. In all 4 cases, the practitioner had either suddenly quit, or was calling to cancel due to sickness (with far less notice than they will accept from a customer). In all 4 cases, we were able to reschedule the appointment, but now booked even farther out, due to their lack of availability. In all 4 cases, I was assured that my credits would still be valid, given that these cancellations were all on the part of Massage Envy, not myself. Then this morning, only six hours before my appointment, I get a phone call from them confirming my appointment, but saying that because my credits have expired, I will have to pay the full price of $145. I left a message reminding them that these are extremely old credits that we are simply still just trying to get on the calendar, I am informed that they are under new management and nobody has left any notes or information about this, and that they will not honor this extension. Instead of weighing the facts of this circumstance and honoring these credits which I paid for in full over a year ago at this point, I am simply given 100 excuses about how they cannot make any of these decisions because they are bound to corporate, unprofessional complaints about how hard their jobs are (wading through the mire of previous mismanagement) and was told that these 4 massages that I spent hard earned money on are now simply staying in the corporate pockets. I know my story is not unique; I think we have all heard the horror stories about dealing with this company, not to mention the fact that every time I actually did go in for a massage, my entire waiting room experience was colored by listening to other customers, in the exact same position as myself, struggling with the front desk there in person. It's not great business when your customers who have already been taken advantage of by this company are having to listen to other customers in the midst of being taken advantage of, while you are literally in the waiting room. I understand the struggles of new management, and it sounds like because there was zero continuity or communication between old management and new, that obviously many things slipped through the cracks. What is surprising to me is that this new management, while I'm sure they are already struggling to clean up the reputation of this location, and of Massage Envy as a whole, would not make a bit of effort to make this right, which could have turned my final few interactions with this company from sour to tolerable. Lastly, it is not lost on me how ugly it looks to be complaining about a massage, and honestly, that is not what this is about. I learned within my first couple of visits that when you pay for a fast food massage, you get a fast food massage. At this point it is not even worth taking time out of my day to cash in on these supremely overdue credits. It is about voicing frustration of how this situation was handled. I was seen here in October 2023 (birthday treat for myself, using a gift card I had received and finally got to use!) I got a facial, with chemical peel, and eye treatment. The experience itself was not bad. The after was. I waited to wash my face as I was instructed, I was given wash and moisturizer in a lil cup to use. I had a horrible reaction when I woke up the next morning. My eyelids and face were swollen and red / blotchy. My eyelids were so swollen they were touching my face. I had to pry my eyes open. I called and left message for the manager or anyone from the office to call me back. I submitted a contact form on the website also and still have not heard back. I could not get help from my own doctor for the allergic reaction cause I never found out what brand or ingredient list (which is what I was needing from them) so I would know not to use it again. I just threw away the stuff I was given. I paid for some other products but afraid to use it. My eyelids have not been the same since, they still sometimes stick together. read more

Horrible Customer Service!! Horrible people working there. Canceled my appointments with less than 24 hours notice. They also canceled my future appointments because the two so called managers are completely useless and rude. They had attitudes on the phone and when my wife went in to see why they canceled two other massages after telling me about the previous ones already canceled they proceeded to be petty and cancel all of my appointments that I had scheduled through January and February. I have been a client of Massage Envy for over 15 years. I always had exceptional customer service and experience at the Sherwood clinic since I've transferred over to the Sunnyside clinic. Everything has gone downhill quickly. Every time I schedule an appointment it gets canceled and yet they have no hesitation on billing me every month. I use this for medical reasons and can't seem to get an appointment for the life of me. They might as well close down because they are useless. It appears I will have to drive all the way across town to go to the Sherwood clinic. I do not recommend this business. read more

My partner and I joined Massage Envy with the promise that we would be getting a massage with the membership once a month. At first this seemed to be a great deal. The first thing that I noticed about Massage Envy is the front staff seems a bit unprofessional. While i have sat there on many occasions waiting before or after my massage I have overheard the front staff badmouth clients. I also have the sense that they are not really happy about their jobs as they seem bored. The massage therapists are usually good. The only really complaint I have is that a lot of the staff seem to want to talk while giving you a massage. The last thing I want to have while getting a massage is someoone talking about the party they were at last night or about their children and girlfriend. Looking into the company themselves I do now know they pay their staff crap wages and basically rely on tips which they really do push you to tip a lot which leads to the massage not being as affordable as you may want. Save your money and find a non-corporate therapist that will make you feel relaced and as oif you are #1. read more

There's a few very nice things about being a member here-the biggest being last minute appointments. When you need a massage after ie: falling down, moving, stressful day etc. etc. you kinda want one right away not in 2 weeks. The down side is I think that most of these therapists that are available last minute aren't the best. The technique is rather sloppy and rushed and I think one of the therapists forgot about me for about 10 minutes. My other big complaint is that your massage never goes for a full hour-it's more like 45 to 50 minutes. I'm starting to think that this place just isn't worth the money. My advice is that if you find a good massage therapist that you like, write down his or her name and request them. There are some good ones-but most are mediocre at best. read more

This location is terrible for available appointments. They don't tell you they are having difficulty making appointments until after you sign a contract. I think they don't have enough massage therapist after Covid. However, they should be transparent about the difficulty in making appointments so you can make an informed decision about signing an annual contract. You pay a monthly membership, but it is almost impossible to get a massage once a month, especially with a regular masseuse. They don't open their books for making future appointments until one month ahead. I.,e, you can't make an appointment in April until March then good luck getting one at all. The availability of appointments is atrocious. They also cancel appointments and don't give you notice until about 10 minutes before your appointment. BAD experience - buyer beware! Was quoted $80 when I scheduled a general massage. Told the girl I was using a $60 gift card and she was all happy for me. The full body massage turned out to be back only. Then when I declined to sign up for one of their packages, I was charged $145. When I explained I was quoted $80 the response was "yeah, our prices went up, but if you buy one of our packages it will be less." Apparently they go up enough to make the gift card worthless - no loss for them. I couldn't charge the tip because that would take too long to get to the therapist. UNPROFESSIONAL. I made an appointment at the end of a massage three weeks ago (July 2nd). I showed up to my appointment today, on time. When I arrived the girl at the front desk said, "Oh, you must be Jean!" I said no, but that I was Ashley's 3:15 appointment. The girl at the front desk informed me that my appointment had not been scheduled and that I had no other appointments scheduled (ahem, I was standing right there when it was put into the computer three weeks earlier). The girl at the front desk then called the person who had been put into the slot I had been scheduled for to see if they were still coming... Um, rude much? I am on time... I was scheduled for the appointment three weeks earlier... And now I'm on the back burner while I am standing right here? The person on the phone said they were still coming, so the front desk girl said that I wouldn't get an appointment. She then said she would give me an "upgrade" for my troubles. Gee, thanks, a $15 upgrade on a scented product I don't want totally justifies me walking out of a meeting early to be on time, rearranging my week to have this time available and being treated like a second class citizen! She and the masseuse (who is actually very good, and honestly I hope she starts working independently because I would hire her freelance in a heart beat!) then proceed to start looking into scheduling me at another time- including moving other clients around without checking with those clients to see if it would be okay- and WITHOUT ASKING WHAT MY AVAILABILITY IS. I am a professional with an extremely restrictive schedule- hence the necessity of massage in the first place. I had to ask twice about what times were being considered before the girl at the front desk even acknowledged me. She told me Monday- again, did not ask what my schedule was before working with the masseuse to rearrange other clients to get me in. I told her that I had no availability on Mondays. They asked about Saturdays. I have no availability on Saturdays. I finally told them that Friday afternoons are the only possible time I have and they couldn't get me in for a month- and that is assuming they don't put someone else in my place again. The whole experience was an absolute joke, completely disrespectful of my time and the time of the people around me, and disrespectful to the other clients who were going to have the same experience I had because the staff here can't manage a booking system. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else where its clear that the owner(s) and support staff actually value their clients. PS: they charge you for tipping your masseuse. Very immature, clearly has no business being in customer service or sales. She called to "remind me" of my appt that was scheduled for May 6. Which I booked back in March. In her voice mail, the reminder was for a massage that I already had back in March. What? Clearly no intelligence nor attention to detail for her role. When I called back I explained that I received her message and was concerned because I had a 2 hr massage scheduled for tomorrow at a different time then mentioned in her message. When I asked her to just let me talk and stop talking over me and pointed out that she was coming across condescending, she said "well, you are too. You need to show respect." Whatttt? If you are a health care worker, DO NOT schedule a massage here. I arrived to the facility wearing a mask, as I do everywhere, especially since COVID cases have been exploding again in recent weeks. I was the only one in the facility with a mask, which I expected, but did not expect what happened next. I mentioned that I was a health care worker, which apparently created a panic, and the massage therapist waited until I was on the massage table before informing that they would not provide me with any services. I explained that I wear full PPE, incluring protective eye wear and an N95 at work and that I don't go anywhere without a mask, and that I routinely test for COVID, but they were uncomfortable with my presence. They acknowledged that there was no policy, and had I arrived without any mask, without routine COVID testing, and as a person who was constantly being exposed to COVID in restaurant, bars, or at the spa, there would have been no concern, as they didn't do any COVID screening, wear any masks, have any clear hand hygiene protocols, or any other infection disease prevention protocols. Either you care about protecting your staff and clients by following well established COVID protocols, or you decide to just exclude health care workers from your practice. At least you could post the policy ahead of time to save everyone time and energy. Again, please all nurses, doctors, social workers, other health care workers who provide direct patient care, don't waste your time here. Your safety protocols and well-established evidence-based infection prevention protocols will not be appreciated by folks who take no other precautions by excluding health care professionals. But, if you are a person who doesn't mask, doesn't test, and acts as though the pandemic is over, you should be absolutely fine receiving care here. read more

Fathers Day Gift was a 90 min appointment right before our reservation dinner. It was timed perfectly. I made the reservation several weeks in advance. This gift was for my husband- a newly retired vet, now full-time stay-at-home father. He really needed 90 minutes to himself. He suffers from constant back and shoulder pain, so that Father's Day gift was special and something he was excited about. However they call him (not me) and cancelled the day of. They didn't even give him an option of rescheduling in the near future. Everything was booked. How about compensation for the gift now lost? Not to mention, I as the giver wasn't even notified. Not even a heads up. I specifically mentioned when I book the appointment that this was a Father's Day gift using an extension of our membership. You don't have a system that helps one to familiarize themselves with your so called "members". Membership here is not about "service" -it doesn't even guarantee me service or a make up for one. So if that's the case why stay? Sometimes it's not about the discount. We have had a membership off and on for the last six years. The only time our membership is ever interrupted is if we move to another base and aren't sure if there is a massage envy near us. I can assure you we are looking to be members elsewhere. read more

The massage itself was average, at best. And that's pushing it. Tremendously overpriced, I almost wish the could have automated check-in. You could see what time was available and just submit what time you'd be in with your credit card, they'd charge if you didn't show. The staff is okay, and my massage therapist is alright. I have been getting massages for years now. I usually get them from my chiropractor's clinic but since that is more than 45 minutes away from home, I decided to try this Massage Envy near my home. After my first massage that I found in the mail for $49, I decided to give them a shot. At the end of my appointment, the lady up front talked me into getting a membership. My fault for not fully reading that long contract and signing my life away. The part she left out was the cancelation policy of doing it 3 days after I sign or ELSE I M STUCK WITH THEM FOR A YEAR! even phone companies have early termination policies with a fee, THIS PLACE FORCES YOU TO STAY WITH THEM FOR A WHOLE YEAR for a total of $720 they want from you. It has been only two weeks and I did not even get a massage from my planned membership yet and they wont let me cancel! What in the world? I dislike feeling stuck, I would not mind paying them a few hundreds to leave. I can't stand stupid policies that makes no sense but to keep you. Now I know how it feels to be a guy that gets a girl pregnant and is stuck with child support for 18 years. I should have never left my massage therapist from my chiropractor's office, at least she allowed me to try other places and come back. Now I am just stuck with this chain cooperation. How lame!!!! I would love to give them more stars. But the front desk was not friendly at all. You walk in and they don't say hi. I stood at the desk for awhile before I was acknowledge and they could stop talking to each other. And then when I was done with my massage the same thing happened. How it works: You roll in and get a $39 massage. Then the hostess tells (sells) you all about the great reasons you should enroll in the monthly massage program ($49 EBT for one year). This lil plan gets you a 50-minute massage every month and unused massages rollover or you can break up the time to add on to massages later. I was an easy sale, because my doctor said I needed to do this to help manage my stress. I can only speak to the Clackamas branch. This place was such a disappointment. I've been a few times and have had the worst massages here. I guess it depends on who you get, so if you do decide to go here make sure you let them know before coming in what you need/want so they can find who they think would be the best match for you. Tough though because it seems that turn over is high there and you never know who you are going to get or how long someone you actually did like will stay. I told the people that I needed a deep tissue massage and got the worst people. I couldn't relax because the whole time I had to tell the person to please press harder. Reading the reviews prior to coming here I was expecting the worst. However, I walked away pleasantly surprised by my experience. The staff was friendly and professional, I was checked in and seated in the "quiet room" immediately. My masseuse was professional and focused on my trouble areas and applied appropriate pressure. I think the price is a little spendy for what you get. I paid $39 (one-time introductory rate) but it is typically $50 per month with membership or $65 without. The manner in which they get through clients is very fast and almost doctor's office like to where they call you in, do the massage, and quickly get you out. Wow, there are some harsh reviews on here! I have to wonder if people are exaggerating, hard to please, or just like to complain. Perhaps all of the above. This was my very first massage EVER! I have nothing to compare it to, so that may not give me the right to judge other reviews as too harsh. My experience was great, however. The front desk staff was very helpful and explained everything I needed to know. When I got called back my massage therapist Nicole explained how everything would work and didn't make me feel dumb or lost. She even gave me the chance to use the restroom first, which is great because I have a bladdar the size of a mouse. The massage itself was great. She asked how everything felt, how the pressure was, etc. I didn't feel awkward which is what I was afraid of most. It was quiet and relaxing. I'm not a fan of small talk and didn't feel a need to fill the silence. By the time I got up I was so relaxed I felt high and stumbled over. I suffer from chronic headaches, tension headaches, and migraines. When I went in I had a headache and a stiff neck and afterwards the headache was gone and my neck felt much better. This is the worst place you can possibly go for as massage. Boyfriend tried to cancel his joint account with ex, they kept charging him. Then after a huge hassle, they agreed to cancel and transfer remaining credits to him if he signed up for an individual account. He did and the credits vanished completely from both accounts. Manager refuses to call him back and deal with him. This place is a scam, even the people that work there aren't happy. Don't waste your money, the massage can't relieve the stress they cause. And good luck trying to get any customer service. Avoid this business at all cost!!!! read more
