As someone who has been getting regular pedicures since my teens, I cannot say enough good things about L'Amour Nails in Happy Valley. For starters, it doesn't smell like a nail salon in here. No overwhelming smells of acrylic and polish. Tons of colors, services, and a great beverage menu if you're looking for a cocktail/mocktail (I love the Vietnamese coffee, but maybe that's just me). You can also book online which makes getting an appointment super easy. Tbh, I love anywhere I don't have to call and speak with a human to book an appointment. The technicians themselves are very skilled and professional. Tina is my go-to for an amazing pedicure. I always get the Elite Pedicure with gel color ($90). The appointment takes 60 minutes and includes extras like a callous scrub, paraffin wax, hot stone massage, etc. The pedicure chairs have built-in massage rollers and the technicians always use a new bowl liner, new tools, and wear gloves. For a manicure, Danielle is amazing. I get the L'Amour Manicure ($60) with Builder Gel ($60). With the builder gel, my nails last four weeks -- and I have really soft, bendy nails and am incredibly physical with my hands so definitely get the builder gel if you have issues with nails chipping. The L'Amour manicure includes a sugar scrub, massage, paraffin wax, and moisture mask. If you just get the builder gel, they will still clean up the cuticles but it doesn't include the other manicure services. Is it more than other places? Yes, but you get what you pay for. The overall cleanliness, atmosphere of the salon, quality of services, the ease of booking, and the consistency of the technicians make this place worth every penny. read more

I would never, ever recommend this place if you don't want all your plans ruined!!!! They constantly call and change either the appointment time or the nail technician!!!! Even when you come at the time THEY changed it to, you still have to wait around 25 minutes!!!!!!! Horrible attitude, and the tools are not sterilized!!!!!!!!! You constantly have to watch and remind them to open a package of clean tools in front of you!!!!!! HORRIBLE!!! I kept thinking maybe it was just one technician, but no -- I changed technicians. Then I thought maybe it was just a coincidence, but at this point it's unbearable. This is the worst place and the worst service in all of Portland. read more

When I was checking it I was charged $31.99. For less than 20 min. I called and requested to talk to a manager and was told I would get a call back and no one has reached out. I had my nails done a week ago three nails have broken in the last week. I went in and paid for a fill to have them all redone. Because they kept breaking off and one broke on the way home I didn't even make it home before the thumbnail broke off. I spent over $200 in the last week at this place and my nails are broken. I would not recommend this nail salon. I've gone to several different nail technicians here over time, and I have been cut during multiple appointments. After one visit, I even developed an infection. What is most frustrating is that I continued giving this salon chances after the infection, hoping it was an isolated incident. Unfortunately, I have continued to be cut during appointments, and the area that was previously infected has been repeatedly irritated and re-inflamed. I've had my nails done for many years and have never had these kinds of issues at other salons. Being cut occasionally can happen, but when it continues to happen with multiple technicians, it raises serious concerns about technique, care, and sanitation practices. At this point, I no longer feel comfortable getting services here and will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

I have been to this salon three times now and this last time was a terrible experience. I was scheduled for a gel fill and Nina (sp?), who sits at the first nail station, immediately started asking me how long I have had my full set and stated I needed them taken off and redone. When I told her I just wanted the fill as the nail she was referring to had been broken several times and HAD been redone, she proceed to do a half assed job. It was very clear she wasn't going to put any effort into my fill since she thought they needed to be redone anyways! It's been one day and my nail polish looks like I did it myself. My husband and I went for our one year wedding anniversary. It was his first time getting a pedicure. We were treated so well, they were very attentive without being overbearing. His basic pedicure was really well priced and I got one with a lot more bells and whistles and it was still under $100 without tip. It was really clean, the music was a nice level and the massage chairs were very lovely. We live right down the street and my husband can't stop saying that we need to go back, we definitely will! The salon has an upscale vibe and they offer several services on the menu including permanent makeup, waxing, and eyelashes. If I lived in the area, I would absolutely come back. They take time to explain things and ask questions to clarify our preferences and never make us feel rushed. The employees are very kind and I don't want to talk badly about anyone's work, but everyone has strengths & weaknesses which is why I intentionally book with techs who are skilled at long acrylics & french tips. Today I had a very nice technician, but my acrylics are all different shapes, my cuticles were cut, & the tips are not as even as I'd like. I would like to say this has been my top #1 nail spot. When you enter the space is well lit and encourages light, airy and happy energy. I tend to set up an appointment when I need to get a fill or start a new set. The staff are the nicest people there. My set last long 3+ weeks long before I go back in for another appointment. Originally was recommended Lamour by a friend of mine last year and have been going since. My go to nail techs are Jenny Bui, Kim and occasionally Julie. I have recommended this place to my sister as well and it has now been her go to nail place as she is going out her natural nails. The process for her has been nice and smooth. The finish was also uneven and bumpy. I asked for builder gel, but the technician suggested just regular gel instead, saying it would be better, but it did not turn out well at all. They have a variety of services and a lot of colors to choose from for your nails. The prices are what I feel are the typical manicure/pedicure price. The cheapest for toes is the vintage pedicure at $45, which comes with a sugar scrub and a nice massage. The staff are super nice and make you feel comfortable, always asking if everything is okay throughout your service. They serve complimentary drinks (water, mimosas, champagne, wine, soda), plus have cocktails for a price. It is a spacious place and a good atmosphere. read more

Great spot in happy valley for nails. It's got fancy aesthetic on the inside and the staff were welcoming enough and I got a free drink with my pedicure. They were pretty keen on sticking to the time limit set for the services though and felt a little rushed for the price. Still had a great pedi that lasted a few weeks. When I checked out, they didn't tell me my total until after they charged me. I was told $41 for a fill before I decided to get my nails done. My bill was $129!! What the heck?!! I had a dip manicure done while out of town. It was a disaster. Lifting, chipping... just awful in every way. They took it off and put on a fresh new dip. It looked fantastic. They have a ton of colors to choose from in dip and shellac. Then I got their basic pedicure option (called The Vintage) and it turned out great. One thing, in all the times that I've been here, I've never been offered a drink. I see other people with them, so it just seems odd to not be asked. Small thing, I know.. just worth a mention.
