my normal massage guy was sick, and I was having terrible body pain from my job working in commercial refrigeration. So I made an appointment online for the same day. So easy. I like that you can see what each therapist offers and that's why I chose this location because Derek offers deep massage and that's the really hard pressure and no one at Brentwood offered that. The service and check-in was easy and smooth, parking was easy, and the entire process was very streamlined and professional. Derek is an amazing healer and a great conversationalist. He makes you feel special, like you're hanging out with a friend and not just receiving a service. I can't think of enough good things to say about him. I just know that I had a great time and my body doesn't hurt anymore. Thank you everyone involved, this was a wonderful experience. I may look into a membership in the future. read more

I Will never step inside a Massage Envy ever again. About a year ago I canceled my membership and asked that they stop charging my bank account. They ignored my request and each time they charged my account, my bank charged me a fee. ME told me I had to in personally and sign their cancelation form. This CANNOT be legal. If a client verbally asks for you to stop charging and asks to sign virtually, hence we live in the world of work from home, they are doing this purposefully, so they can keep charging your account. GREEDY! It gets better. When I canceled I still had one or two more credits. I recently went to another location in Ladue, and what a shit show. The massage therapist took me all the way back to the room to take me back to the reception area because the gentlemen working at the front desk gave unclear direction to me and the therapist. When I arrived, I gave my phone number which must've never been documented because I don't understand how I could've been confused with another guest. AND once he finally did pull up my account, he surprised me by stating that he did not find any credits on my account. So the Lindbergh location did me wrong. Two locations, plenty of bad experiences, never again. I'm going to Massage Luxe or Every Body Massage where they only charge $80. Not everyone is greedy. read more

Best. Massage. Ever. Amanda is amazing! I have a huge knot in my upper right shoulder that never goes away no matter how many massages, but she did make it feel quite a bit better. Usually my back is really sore the next day but that wasn't the case this time, and I left feeling 100% relaxed and blissed out. Heated beds are my absolute favorite so I was glad to find one in the room... Amanda did the perfect amount of talking to where it wasn't too much but she also always checked to make sure everything she was doing was right. She was nice, too, and oddly enough I liked chatting with her throughout (usually I just want to say shhhhhh.) Only cons are that the lobby was completely silent... usually there's some sort of music playing. It made it kind of awkward sitting there with others while we were waiting. The other was that the woman who checked me out afterwards tried to sell me memberships for a good five minutes. I literally had to tell her to give up. If you want a relaxing massage that won't break the bank, so see Amanda. But maybe wear a t-shirt that says "I don't want a membership" for afterwards! read more

This was my first massage at massage envy, and will probably be my last. It's relatively expensive, so I was expecting the best care possible for the time I paid for. I paid for a 90 minute massage that ended up starting 5 minutes late (even though I arrived 20 minutes early) and ending 15 minutes early. All together, that's 20 minutes of massage time that I paid for and did not receive. The massage itself was fine. I just was really disappointed with their time management, especially when I told her that this is a once-a-year treat I give myself. To top it off, she brought me a cup of water as I was leaving and there was a bug floating in it. read more

Very friendly staff, my problem was with the man that did my massage. He wasnt rude, but he wasnt the friendliest either. I payed for a full body massage & he focused on my neck & shoulders the ENTIRE time. It was painful. He massaged my legs for less then 2 mins WHILE I WAS STILL UNDER THE COVERS!. not skin to skin massage. Woke up this morning in more pain then I walked in there with. The therapists are awesome. Since new management started at this location a few months ago, the front desk experience has been atrocious. After being a member for 6 years, I have terminated my membership and gone elsewhere, not another ME clinic. I had an appointment with this location which was cancelled by the clinic but I was not informed of the cancellation. You can be sure if I ever was a no show, I would be charged accordingly. If you want to be a valued client, go elsewhere. read more

I just visited the Clayton MO store today and the service was fine. Not the best as the masseuse did not focus on the area I asked about, but still a good massage. When I checked out I handed over my gift card and and the woman at the front desk said I owed $77 more. It was a $100 gift card and was never used. Service as it was my first time was $113. When I indicated the gift card had 100 on it she then applied my gift card and stated that there was actually a credit on my account for $37. Not only was she not trying to apply my gift card she charged the my fiancés card for $37. This seems like a huge scam and if I didn't say anything/realize we'd be out $100. I will definitely let people know to watch out for this tactic and just know operating a business like this will eventually fail in a very nasty way. Stay shady! read more

In Clayton, mostly the staff is very very friendly. You feel welcomed 80% of the time. There is room for improvement. It is not a location related problem perhaps, but they do not have any special treatments for your birthdays, which I find very disappointing as a member for more than 3 years now. They are usual questions like, what problem areas do you have, what's your daily/weekly routine, allergies, etc. ok moving forward I had a 2pm message scheduled with Corneisha (sp?) and if you the chance, choose her! It was my first time getting a massage here. The therapist started 15 min late. The massage itself was great however I paid for 1 hour and only got 45 min. I thought it was because he was late but when I asked the front desk about it they said "oh actually it's a 50 min massage and 10 min to get dressed/ undressed." This is very misleading as I paid for 1 hour and they advertise a 1 hour massage. I won't be back. read more

I cancelled my appointment much more than 24 hours in advance and on the following day I get a call from Massage Envy, Clayton telling me that I was no show to my appointment. When I told the young person about my call the previous day, instead of apologizing, she told me that they have a 24 hour policy and the office will do what needs to be done, to rest assure, they will use what ever credit I have to cover the appointment that was a no show..... I then told her that I can send a screen shot of my call to confirm my cancellation .... but she insisted on her point. In addition, when I asked to speak with a manager, another person or even my therapist, she refused. I had Natalie and she is awful. I've been getting massages for over 10 years now and I've frequented luxury spas in the past. With that said, any budget massage will not be that great, but Natalie shouldn't be a masseuse. I asked for more lotion three separate times and despite these repeated requests she would continually run dry and continue to pull and tug away uncomfortably on almost dry skin. Her pressure level was okay but my thighs are swollen now which means even though I didn't think it hurt the pressure was too hard for such a tender muscle group (I work out a lot) and there's mild bruising beneath the skin. Her technique does not vary and she is very awkward in how she moves your arms and legs out from under the sheets. She is so concerned about tucking the sheets under your legs so as to avoid your private places that she pinched my skin as she shoved the sheet too hard under my thigh. Besides Natalie being an awful masseuse, the bed or headrest smelled like hockey equipment or gym socks. It was so strong that I thought it was Natalie's feet at first, but once she moved to the bottom of the table I realized it was the bed itself. I paid the introductory rate since I had never been to a "chain" place for a massage and boy am I glad I did. It was hardly worth the $50 as it was. As I checked out they tried to tell me to come in 2x a month like a sort of prescription and then gave me the spiel for the monthly membership. This practice is just unacceptable. I don't care if you're a corporation or not. I don't want to be hassled by a sales pitch after a massage (that presumably was more enjoyable). Overall I literally just waited for it to be over, which is an awful way to experience a massage. I won't be back. Spend more money and treat yourself to a higher class spa massage at one of the STL hotels. read more

Honestly, the worst massage and spa experience I've ever had. I've been getting massages for years and it has NEVER been excruciating. My shoulders and neck are tight but good grief I thought I was going to scream a few times! She was sweet and I think she really was trying to help but it was torture. It's the most pain I've felt in recent memory and I have a VERY high pain tolerance. Also, I arrived 20 minutes early to fill out paperwork and was not taken back until 10 min after my appointment time. After the consultation, undressing, etc. I maybe got 25 min of massage time so she didn't have time to do any other part of my body, just my shoulders and neck. This was yesterday afternoon and I woke up this morning feeling like I was in a car accident. I will never, ever, ever go back and in all honesty I should demand a refund. read more

I've been to a few Massage Envy locations and unfortunately this was my least favorite experience. I had a gift card from Christmas for a prenatal massage, so I figured I'd better use it! My experience began with me arriving for my appointment about 10 minutes early to fill out the necessary paperwork. As soon as that was done, they escorted me into their "relaxation room" which wasn't too relaxing. The woman who took me in wouldn't stop chatting about my job, my pregnancy...etc. She was perfectly nice, and on any other occasion, I would've been totally inclined to indulge the conversation, but I wasn't interested in talking. I wanted to relax! She finally left after about 10 minutes and then the waiting really began. My 10am massage seemed to be slipping away with the minutes. It was now almost 10:20 and they finally called me back. I walk into the room and the bed doesn't look any different than a normal swedish massage. The masseuse told me to undress and lie face down. Hold the phone. I'm 8 months pregnant. This doesn't seem right. I asked if that was still the case for a prenatal and she looked at me like I was crazy. She had no idea I was getting a prenatal massage. Excuse me?? When I scheduled the appointment, I said prenatal, and then I had to fill out an extra 2 pages worth of paperwork 30 minutes ago regarding the same thing. How was that missed?! Needless to say, I had to wait another 5 minutes for her to grab the necessary pillows and put pillow cases on them in order for us to even begin. It's now 10:30 and what's running through my mind is that she is going to stop the massage around 11 and I'm going to be screwed out of my time because of their miscommunication. The massage itself was fine, but not the best I've had. Certainly not worth the hassle of the morning so far. I know it seems silly to complain about getting a massage, but you come to relax and I wasn't! Luckily I got my full 45 minutes or so, but again, the whole experience was a little weird and not really up to my standards. Even though I'm sure these were all honest mistakes that never happen on a regular basis, it left a sour taste in my mouth. I probably wouldn't come back to this particular location again. read more

Massage Envy is my only experience with massage. I go about once a month and have had a few different girls, and have been very happy with all of them. So far they've all been knowledgeable and friendly, and good at their jobs. I have a full time office job and a custom painting business on the side, so I spend a lot of time sitting at a desk, often slouching, and my back and shoulders just kill me. An hour here helps with the tension and aches. This place is clean, smells good, and the massages are worth the price. For me, they lost two stars for two reasons: first, of my five massages here, one has started on time. One. I show up on time, if not early, to my appointments, I think it's fair for my appointment to start at the time I scheduled it for. It's a little frustrating to sit in the lobby (or once they put me in a relaxation room?) for 10-15 mins waiting. My massage seems to end on time, or early, so I can't even figure out why they start late. Second, they really push memberships on you. I get it, the price is better for members, but after a massage I want to go home and relax, not sit there and calculate if I can fit a massage into my budget. I finally caved and got one, thinking they would stop pushing for things but then they found more products and services to bug me about. The last time I was there they tried to convince me to come in every two weeks. There is no possible way I could afford to come in that often. Plus I just don't have the time. I don't know who does! I know that they're a business and they're there to make money, they just come on too strong and don't offer realistic suggestions. Side note: the parking is horrible. It's street meter parking right on Ladue/Maryland and you've got to risk opening your door to oncoming traffic and you need to have $1.50 in quarters and dimes on you. The girls in massage envy are really nice about breaking a dollar if you bring them one for change, but it's still annoying. I really, really wish there was a side parking lot. If you aren't lucky enough to score a spot in front of the actual building you have to look for one either by nearby buildings or across the street over at Brown Shoe or Straubs. It just isn't easy to relax during my massage when I'm spending the whole session wondering if my car is currently being towed. read more

I belonged to Massage Envy for several years. This was my home location, but I used services around the country. To me, whether you have a good experience is primarily luck of the draw of therapists. If you find one you like, stick with them until they leave Massage Envy for more lucrative gigs. I think that Massage Envy serves as a bit of a training ground for new therapists. Best thing to do is ask a lot of questions before your massage about how experienced the therapist is and what kind of pressure they use. I've had a few great massages, a few terrible, and a lot of OK massages at Massage Envy. After one too many mediocre experiences at this location, I finally decided to quit. In my last massage appointment my therapist was totally zoning/spacing out (his hands on me, but not moving) and actually robbed me of a half hour of massage I had paid for because he forgot that it was supposed to be 90 minutes and just concluded the massage after an hour. At that point, I was just done with Massage Envy for good. read more

I've been struggling with painful/chronic neck pain for months and she's helped me immensely. Also, I'm very physically active and she's done a remarkable job at identifying where my exercise-related pain/tightness is centered and treats me accordingly. I've read my fair share of terrible massage envy reviews, so I was pretty skeptical when I went to Massage Envy for the first time. That being said, I had so many knots in my back that I felt desperate enough to give them a try-AND, I was thoroughly impressed! Pros: Sarah at this site is INCREDIBLE. Seriously, she worked wonders on my back. They also have a student discount which is nice. I had to cancel my membership, and despite a lot of people having horrendous experiences, mine was quick and easy- I filled out a form and got a confirmation email. Cons: yes, they kind of pressure you into the memberships. Be prepared for that when you go in the first time. I felt like I was suckered into it, but you can always be stronger than I was and say no! If you're going to a MassageEnvy, go to the Clayton site. Peter is my massage therapist that I request and he is beyond 5 stars. He tailors the massage to your needs at each visit. The staff here are really rude. I have been going here for years and they used to be better. They changed my appointment time without informing me and did not tell me when I checked in that I was 15 minutes "late" to my appointment. The therapist (who was not my regular one) ended my massage and when I asked her why it was so short, she said it was because I was late. No, I came at the scheduled time. Also, why wouldn't anyone tell me if I was checking in 15 minutes late? Why wouldn't the therapist mention it either? I thought I was there a few minutes early. The front staff and manager just kept insisting me that they had called me on a particular day and left a message so they "assumed" I knew. I have my phone out, which shows no voicemails or texts from them on that day. No apologies, just rude insistence that I was late, especially from the manager, who was awful. The only reason for two stars is that one of the massage therapists, Shaniece, was really good, but that does not make up for the terrible customer service. read more
