I had to update my review of this location again. This specifically relates to my experience with a deep tissue massage on this visit. I had major tension in my lower back and right leg on Saturday night. On Sunday morning, I checked the therapists available for Monday. I noticed Marc was a deep tissue expert. I booked an appointment and was so happy I did! I even added an additional 30 minutes to my appointment, after the first 60 minutes, based on his technique and precision. I was lucky that he had the next hour available. He worked with me throughout the session to ensure I was comfortable with the pressure and the areas worked on. I walked out feeling great! I even stopped by to talk to the manager, Jean Paul, and complemented him on another great employee on his staff. Four stars.. but I would say more like 4.5! Just had my first "ME" experience. Let's chat about it.. The waiting space is calm and comfortable. Lighting is relaxing and conducive to creating a chill atmosphere. Could use a bit work in the area of curating relaxation. In my opinion. Offering or encouraging the part of the forms should be done prior to coming into the build with a quick run through, at establishment. It seemed business and gave very working space. The staff is very nice and accommodating, I can tell they are well trained in service, enjoy what they do and are skilled. Now, I'm giving 3 stars for the following reasons, Intake area is very small and the space is tight in my opinion. Which brings me to my second issue with the space, which is it makes you feel like you're in a doctor's office. The waiting area is not welcoming and seems cold. Definitely not how I wanted to start my relaxing message. The whole experience felt transactional. Could be that I am used to Resort spas, it was a promo service, or maybe it was just an off Sunday...whatever it is, I am not sure a membership at M.E is for me. Again, the staff was very nice and friendly. My session was mid but my therapist, Beth was super nice and very informative. Absolutely done with Massage Envy. The turnover rate at this location is insane -- every time you go in, it's a completely new staff with little to no consistency or professionalism. The quality has gone downhill dramatically, and it honestly feels like customers are paying premium membership prices for inexperienced, undertrained employees. The final straw was trying to cancel my membership. I was told there is apparently ONE person in the entire branch who can process cancellations and she only works Thursdays. Convenient. Corporate claims they "can't help" because it's franchised, while the franchise makes canceling unnecessarily difficult. This business model feels intentionally designed to keep charging people rather than providing quality service. I would strongly recommend thinking twice before signing a membership contract here. read more

Love this location. I have started going to this one since my move closer to this area and have seen Whitney. She's amazing! She actually does a slightly different technique than most where she continuously moves into your muscles and I'm here for it! Not sure if it's a thing, but it definitely feels different than others, in a good way. This location is still big on masks and keeps the quiet room spaced out. Facial was good, but the front desk was extremely insistent on getting me scheduled every month, asking for the zip code of where my college is to search how many massage envy's would he closest to where im living at school (even after I said I could figure it out after I move in) and asked multiple times if I was purchasing the skincare routine they used even after i politely declined. Also came around from behind the desk multiple times, and sat next to me to ask about my personal life when I was filling out the questionnaire about my skin type. I'm sure there was kind intention, but it was overbearing and I left more stressed and overwhelmed than I came in lol. Who doesn't like massages? I mean, when it has been a stressful week and you just need an hour to avoid your phone and adult responsibilities, a massage is a fantastic way to do it. This location usually has appointments available the same day or next day, which is really nice for people like us, who don't really know their schedules weeks in advance - or have a fluctuating schedule due to being a part of a few organizations and such. Front desk staff is welcoming and friendly. Waiting room is serene and peaceful. There is a fish tank playing on the television, which I find a touch odd, but my husband finds relaxing, soooo there's that. HA! Michael is a great masseuse and truly listens to your needs and what kind of massage you are looking for - whether that be a relaxing, fall asleep to the music massage, or a deep tissue, I'll suffer through the roughness for an hour if you can get my muscles to unlock, massage. I got my nails done afterwards at my nail salon and they were complementing my skin without even being told I had just gotten a facial, once I did tell them they were completely astonished that my skin was not at all irritated, inflamed or the least bit red! I used to be a member at Massage Envy downtown SoDo and it was always a positive experience. Unfortunately in the last year (2022-2023), the whole experience has been disappointing. I try to book online, but they don't have much available. So I book 3 weeks out, and the past 2 times in a row my appointment has been canceled with a couple days notice. There's no priority to get me into a different appointment, and when I mentioned this time that this is the 2nd time in a row that this has happened to me, the front desk agent said, "Well, life happens." I am very understanding as I run my own business of over 25 staff, but for this to be a pattern it's not the best business model. I will not be going back to this location. read more

After having a 102 mile cycling weekend, my body really needed help! So I put my feelers out there for recommendations and had a bunch for Massage Envy in Sodo. I got in touch with JP, who's the friendliest dude I've met, and explained my situation. With some more questions he recommended half hour stretch session (it's a 10 point stretch from head to toe followed by a 1 hour massage) or a 90 minute massage with a enhanced muscle therapy. The EMT session comes with a hot towel and then biofreeze for the area being worked out, this session being my calves. I ended up getting the stretch with Mayra and EMT session with David (Thanks JP). Mayra definitely knows what she's doing and needless to say I'm going to be stretching more often, plus she made me laugh. David was chill and boy can he do deep tissue, like really it's like he has a sixth sense for finding a knot and working it out. It's been about half a day and I'm feeling great! Check your google reviews before booking here! THEY ARE KNOWN FOR NOT REFUNDING MONEY!!!! Cooperate never calls you back and no one at this store has answers!!! I have been waiting for a refund since 1/3 because one of the girl up front checked me out under someone else's name. I waited past the 3-5 business days to call the location after calling my bank. I have spoken to multiple people and managers and keep getting a run around. One of the people I spoke too was really really rude getting an attitude with me when I tried to explain the situation. No one ever calls back when they say they are going to and here we are on the 19th and I now have to wait again until Friday for an answer. I have been going to this establishment for years but the customer service for paying members has apparently gone to the wayside. I'm sorry, but gentleman at the front desk now is a complete moron and is a poor representation for the first face of Massage Envy you see when you walk in. I scheduled my appointment online, to which upon check in when I arrived 15 minutes prior to my scheduled time, I was told I didn't have an appointment by this guy. Giving me attitude as if I was an idiot and booked wrongly. Turns out he was the idiot and couldn't figure out how to find my appointment block. I finally got my massage, which was great and much needed, but the whole experience was ruined when the same guy charged me full price upon tipping out even though I pay monthly payments and have more than ample credits. That was the last thing I wanted to deal with after a massage, and because of his incompetence, I was delayed inconveniently when all I wanted was to enjoy my relaxed state from the massage I just walked out of. Talk about buzzkill...having to deal someone with such poor customer service takes away from all the pleasantry of getting a massage that we come there for! I have never even stepped foot into this location and have received the worst customer service of my life. My home store is in Sanford but I recently moved to the area where now the this location is closer. I transferred some of my credits to this location for a friend. I paid $10 for the transfer and was quoted $20 extra for the add ons to the service (which was no problem) and my friend was going to take care of that. When my friend was done with their service the front desk said it was actually an additional $30 for the add ons. My friend paid it with no problems & without even mentioning we were misquoted. Cash was exchanged for the add ons & the change was suppose to be the therapists tip. I called my friend after the service to see how it went and he was not pleased because the therapist talked the entire 90mins of the massage, & he was not able to relax, but didn't mention it to avoid causing any problems. Later on I noticed I had a $30 charge on my card & immediately called to ask why since my friend said it was already paid for. Apparently there was a miscommunication between the front desk and my friend...the front desk gave all the cash as a tip to the therapist and charged the add ons on my card that was on file. I know that these things happen so I was understanding and explained what the transactions was suppose to be. I was later contacted by a manager who explained that my friend told them to charge my card (which is not true) because if that were true that would mean the therapist got a $40 tip. Why would my friend give a $40 tip if he wasn't happy with his service ? Anyways I calmly went back a forth with the manger and even put my friend on a three way call to maybe put any misunderstandings at ease...at this point the manager got extremely rude out of nowhere and said that the situation was out of her hands and she'll have the district manager call me. I have yet to get a call and I have called to follow up and still nothing. At this point it's not about the money it's the principle. From the beginning I've been nothing but corporative and understanding with all the mistakes that were made during my experience and I've been brushed off & disrespected. I honestly don't wish this kind a treatment on anyone. I had a busy week at work and I was feeling a bit knotted up from desk jockeying all week, so my Message Envy membership came to mind for a Friday after work treat. I get there 5 minutes early and go to the waiting room. I don't mind a short wait for my masseuse but don't jip me of my full hour. The clock said 6:12pm when my message started and said 6:57 when the masseuse left. That's a 45 minute massage in my book and not an hour. I didn't mention it to the masseuse or the front desk. I just didn't feel I had the energy to complain. I'll continue to moniter the situation and let you know how my membership experience is going. Really have no complaints about this location at all. I look forward to my visits and arrive early to find parking and unwind in the quiet room. The quiet room is a treat. Low lights with calming music and underwater scenes in a screen. I usually also have water before my appointment. All my appointments begin and end on time. I have been pleased with every service received. I have had very disappointing massages at other spas in the past, but I've not had one here, and I've been seen by 3 different therapists. Facials have also been quality as well. I was hesitant to purchase the membership because of the mixed reviews here, but very glad I joined. My husband gave me a massage and facial for my birthday. My disappointment started when the very young receptionist came around the desk to ask me some pre appointment questions. When I told her I have been having some knee issues her response was "oh yeah, my mom has those issues too" My facial was good, not the best I've ever had, but decent. My main reason for not returning is the upselling. I really don't want to hear about their package deals while I'm getting a massage. I'm in sales and know that there is a time and place for everything. During the massage is not the time to hear how awesome it would be if I bought a membership! The upselling continues throughout the appointment right up until checkout. They sent me a survey by email afterwards which I filled out and after I wrote my concerns about upselling, the final pages states, would you like to schedule your next appointment!?! Any day at the spa is a great day for me but unfortunately, like a lot of people, it's not always in the budget! My favorite pampering session is always a massage. I'd take 1 massage over 100 pedicures any day, especially with a great masseuse. I first heard about Massage Envy from my mother, who was helping me try to find a solution for a back injury. I'd been through every specialist that ever existed; chiropractors, physical therapists, orthopedists, spine specialists, rheumatologists, accupuncture- you name it I tried it. I really thought of a massage as a relaxing way to pass the day; I was a bit skeptical about a discount massage clinic, but decided to give it a shot. I've been a Massage Envy client for just about a year now, and am a lifelong fan. It is well worth the $39/hour, and when I can, I even sneak in extra time or additional sessions. My back pain has gone from completely unbearable to a blip on the radar. After three years of throwing money and time away on special cures, ancient remedies, and crackpot specialists, I'm FINALLY feeling better. The multiple locations, late hours, and weekend appointments are life-savers. While I originally signed up in Altamonte, the SODO store was happy to swap my appointments- and I've booked more then a few at the wrong location! They also work with you to provide you the best experience, whether you're looking for a bit of TLC from an injury, or a stress reliever from your 9-5 job that lasts way past quitting time. As an added bonus, I've absolutely loved what Massage Envy is doing for the community; they are active on the social networks and recently held a fundraiser for the Susan G. Komen foundation. My only gripe would be to beware what you're signing up for. Use your massages- while they carry over, it's all too easy to end up with several unused sessions and not enough time to take advantage. The sessions are non-transferable, and you can't use them if you decide to cancel your membership. I wish they'd come up with some options for members in this situation (it happened to a friend of mine), but all in all the pros DEFINITELY outweigh the cons. read more

It can take a little time to find the "right" masseuse that fits what you're looking for. The nice thing is that they have several. The staff at the Dr. Phillips location are fairly useless. My first time going, they barely acknowledged me while looking at one of the girls' personal pictures on the computer. When I got done filling out the paperwork, I had to get their attention, since I was tired of waiting for them, and we were cutting into my massage time. Once back in the room, it was peaceful, quiet, professional and clean. The temperature of the rooms is good, and they can adjust if you need to. Price is much cheaper than a spa massage, but be sure to read the fine print of the contract, and understand it thoroughly. Although you sign up for a 12 contract, it renews automatically. read more

I was on vacation in FL and saw the $39 first massage deal as I was walking past. I inquired about it, and the receptionist was friendly and professional. I called back later to book an opening, and she actually remembered me. When I came in for my appointment fifteen minutes early as I was told to do, I filled out some forms and waited in the darkened waiting area inside. It would have been a really calming atmosphere except the AC was blasting so it was frickin' cold. When I met the therapist I asked if the thermostat could be adjusted, so she went to ask the front desk people. Thank God there was a heating pad on the table! That thing was amazing! Anyway, my appointment started at 4:07 and ended at 4:57. When I realized this, I told the therapist, and she sort of just smiled and said "Sorry about that" without really addressing anything. When I asked the front desk about this, they said that the one-hour massage only includes 50 minutes of massage time. Well excuuse me to expect an hour's worth of massage from booking a "one hour" massage. The massage itself was okay. She did listen to my requests of more pressure but didn't provide much explanation when I asked what style of massage she was using at one point. All I know is that with the masseuse I go to back home, I just about always feel like she's working some magic with her fingers, whereas this was very mediocre. read more

He truly cares for his clients and wants you to understand the process. He talked about all the products he was going to use on my skin and why, and we set goals for my skincare as well. I got a certificate for a 1-hour facial and massage. I received my facial first which was nice. I don't have any complaints about my facial. She knew when to converse and when to just allow me to relax. She talked about my skin and suggested a product but I never felt like she was trying to sell me anything. My massage was a whole other story.... The meet and great was fine. They did exactly what it say's they will do on the website. They inquired about the reason I was coming in and I told them it was a gift for my birthday. Things changed when I started my session. My massage therapist leaded me to a room and instructed me to undress to my comfort level. The room was cold and the table had not been warmed up. When my massage therapist reentered the room she informed me she had gone to the wrong room by mistake which made her feel awkward. Tranquility and comfortable are not what I received from this massage. I prefer to relax without conversation. She kept asking me questions which I answered to avoid coming across as rude. I want to say she stopped talking about midpoint through the session (about the time I flipped over). I requested medium pressure and got very hard pressure instead. The technique she used was not smooth and flowing. She was not consistent from arm to arm or leg to leg. Another thing that bothered me was that she did not massage my entire legs. She went half way up my thigh and stopped and the same thing with my back. At the end of my session she ended abruptly. I am not a confrontational person, so when I got up front and they asked me if everything was okay I said yeah just so I could leave as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, they did not get the hint. The front desk associate wanted me to purchase some $69 nighttime cream and $60 daytime cream. Then she wanted to get me started with a monthly membership. I politely said no thank you and she jumped right into the high-pressure sales tactics. She asked me what was holding me back and informed me when I come back the price would be more expensive if I don't get the membership. I find this to be extremely annoying. If you decide to go here, I would be very carefully on choosing your massage therapist and be prepared to get hammered for a monthly membership at the end. Or you could skip this place altogether and go somewhere that focuses on the massage instead of selling a membership. read more

I have been to several Orlando locations but this is my "home location". I came here after receiving a gift card for a massage and ended up buying a membership. I felt pretty pressured to buy one in comparison to other locations. Luckily, my membership is up next month as it is a luxury I can no longer afford (let's be honest, I never really could). Overall, I have had great experience with most of the therapists here. Since I'm petite I have a feeling they are scared to hurt me even when I say I would like deep pressure.
