1 Star - An Unforgivable Mess of a Service Experience! We booked a couples massage at Massage Envy on North Shore two to three weeks in advance to celebrate a late Valentine's Day. My wife and I took an entire day off work and even arranged for 45 minutes of travel (one way) 1 1/2 hours in total, to drop our son off for childcare, all to make this appointment at 9 AM. We received two confirmation messages from Massage Envy the evening before, so we were all set. The morning of the appointment, with barely an hour's notice, the manager--Jordan--calls to cancel our appointment. Her excuse? That it was "unsafe to drive" due to snow and "ice on the road." Let me set the record straight: We live on top of Lookout Mountain, drive a rear-wheel drive pickup, and the temperature never even dropped below 36°--hardly freezing conditions, making ice formation IMPOSSIBLE. The roads in Chattanooga and surrounding areas were perfectly clear, and I personally woke up at 5 AM to get ready and drove our son to childcare, ensuring we could make our appointment on time. Instead of taking responsibility, Jordan spewed a weak, laughable excuse about unsafe roads and then had the gall to offer us facials or individual massages at different times as if that could ever make up for the massive inconvenience and wasted day off work. We explained our entire situation--our meticulous planning, the sacrifice of work and time, and the real disappointment of having what we had been looking forward to ruined. Yet, she showed zero empathy. When I asked her to escalate this to her boss and compensate us with two free massages for the utter disruption, she called back and flatly refused, offering a pitiful upgrade for a facial or hot stones instead. I asked for the 60 minute massage to be upgraded to 90 minutes, to which she said she could not do that because of their "system". To add insult to injury, she arrogantly tried to correct me when I pointed out that, per their own website, we would have been charged for canceling the appointment--if we'd canceled ourselves, that is. But because her team "couldn't come in," she tried to rewrite their policy on the spot claiming we would not have been charged. Finally, I requested a full refund of our gift card due to the worst customer service experience I have ever received, and she dismissed us entirely, claiming she could do nothing since we purchased it online. This is not only unacceptable; it's an outright scam of a customer service experience. Massage Envy on North Shore, under the management of Jordan, is a total disaster. Their bull**** excuses, complete lack of accountability, and shockingly poor customer service have ruined what was supposed to be a special day. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this place if you value your time, money, or sanity. read more

Before the massage, it is awkward because they give a tour of the building and show you a couples room massage and what a massage room looks like. I found that odd, but maybe people that haven't been there before may need it. I am always hesitant to go to massage envy because of the sales tactics to get the membership and your hour massage is cut down to 50 minutes so you can change for five minutes before and after. The massage itself was great, but other massage places really work and actually care about the client, massage envy is on such a time schedule that if you have areas that still need to be worked, they still cut your time instead of working a little longer or helping you feel completely better. Just a different experience. Also, my therapist was a few minutes late to pick me up from the room and ended a minute early. So that was annoying. After the massage, they made me feel pressured into getting the membership and wanted to sit down to show me pricing plans. I told them I wasn't interested, but still kept trying to sell me the membership. That should not be done after a massage. I understand gently offering the membership, but they were robotic on a sales call to get you to buy the membership. But next time it will be $37 more if you don't upgrade. Pfft. I'm never going to massage envy again, I should have listened to my gut. This company is the same every time and doesn't care about the clients, just about getting them to purchase the membership. read more

This location was able to fit me in for a last-minute massage appointment. I was traveling in from out of town and my neck and back were super sore from the flights. My therapist was excellent and really worked out the trouble spots. The location is very clean, large and well-equipped, much more so than the location I usually visit in my state. I asked for a deep tissue massage and I definitely received one. The girl is strong, charming, great personality, totally wonderful at her job ! First time going to a massage envy over the Christmas break. I can promise you I will not be going back to one. Do not go! I've always been to more local places rather than a major chain. I scheduled a 60 minute facial... and it wasn't even close to that time. I got there at 245,15minutes before my start time (3 pm). I waited in the lobby until 309 of which I asked the lady to confirm I was in the right spot since no one got me yet. After which I was brought into the room to answer the Exact same questions I answered prior in the lobby on the tablet. I undress and look at the clock when she comes in again. It's 318. The massage ended at 345 because I looked up thinking that was fast. So I paid for a full hour massage and I completely get that you need to allow time for pre and after to get situations. However, I would expect the facial would be longer 27minutes.... I get that places run behind but what really got me was that I asked the esthetician about the timing and she ensured me it was fine because they budget for 10 minutes before and after ( of which I'm thinking this still doesn't add up). I went into the lobby to ask the front desk and express my concern with the timing of it. Their response was no we monitor the timing they can't finish before time is up. Clearly, they don't because I'm pretty good at a reading clock! They don't care about your concerns nor do they care about customer service! Just called to reschedule mine and my daughters message. I have been going to the frazier avenue location for 5 years. My therapist is no longer there. It's like picking out a doctor, daycare, a lawyer, etc... My issue is that NO ONE had any intention of calling me to give me the human courtesy of letting me know she no longer worked there. they know I only see her and would not see another therapist, I have tried several others they still currently employee and was not impressed. So many mixed reviews on Yelp, maybe that is due to the large amount of masseuses they have there, so il go ahead and give my review of Ashleigh: I had a relaxation massage with a slight focus on health relating to sports injuries in my shoulders and upper back. She did a great job at accommodating my every need. It's important to communicate with your masseuse and I found Ashleigh listened and modified her massage to suit my requests. The business also does a good job at preparing you for your massage and providing time to slow down and relax before jumping in (ie the quiet room).
