I am updating my review because my girlfriend was nice enough to get me an hour massage and reluctantly I gave them another chance. I do appreciate the kindness displayed by the front desk lady and the lady that gave me my massage, as I return I will continue to be more strict on my reviews but they are slowly redeeming themselves. I am only giving two stars, because my masseuse was so nice. However, overall, I will probably patronize another location. Overall customer service, leaves room to be desired. Upon arrival, the receptionist was nice however, when it was time to walk me to my massage room, she only opens the door to the hallway of the rooms. She does not walk me to the room I need to go to. Instead, she says "go to the room on the left" and closes the door. Logistically speaking, I'm referring to the door that separates the massage rooms from the lobby. I ended up waiting in that room for 20 minutes before my masseuse was able to locate me. Insane. He also tells me how his schedule has been misconfigured all day and he has walked in on to other massages in progress because of poor scheduling. I end up making it to my massage room and get my massage. The massage was probably a one out of five stars. I didn't feel like it was a professional massage rather than someone acting out the training they received at orientation. I live in the Washington DC area and I have never experienced this from a massage therapist. Overall two stars because of her how nice my masseuse was. Thus far I've been to this particular ME three times and all three times have been excellent experiences. The massage therapists actually listen to what my needs are for particular muscle groups, and are very receptive to inputs on techniques that work better for my highly damaged body. This was my first ever professional facial, and I LOVED it. The atmosphere is relaxing and beautiful, along with the soothing music. I was paired with Sydney, and she was wonderful. Well, I get here and now I have a 4pm appointment. WTF. If they used a reminder service maybe I would have caught their time change or had evidence of my 3pm appointment. By far one of the best things I have subscribed to. Jaqueline is now my permanent massage therapist. She is super gentle but awesome strong with the elbow when needed. She has my pressure points and knots burned into her memory and she gets them every time. She even remembers personal things I tell her about my life and finds a way to actually care about what's going on with me. I really enjoy those hour sessions, even tho they fly by faster than a 30 minute break lol. I recently tried the rapid tension with that hand heals machine and I could stop giggling at how much it tickled but felt oh so nice. I had John, he did the perfect pressure and really cared about making my leg feel better (I've been having some really bad problems with my leg recently) I also have a pinched nerve in my shoulder blade and he helped it feel SO MUCH better!! If you go to this location and are comfortable with a male massaging you, then I HIGHLY recommend John. The only reason I'm giving this a 3 start review is because when I tried to call they didn't even answer to ask me to hold or let me know they were working with someone else, they just put me on hold immediately and then didn't pick up the phone for 10 minutes! If you're looking for a rub-down, fluffy massage, you can see anyone you want, but my five-star review is definitely centered around John. If you have tension issues, he's your guy: he puts the THERAPY in Massage Therapy. I feel so much better after seeing him, not just immediately or for a couple of days afterward, but (with regular treatments) for weeks at a time after an appointment. I joined Massage Envy to get regular facials -- if you're a fan, you'll know that $60/month is a steal! -- but my massages are what I look forward to most now. That's not a knock on the facials. John is just that good. Be prepared: he can put as much pressure as you need/want. If you're feeling tender or have an injury, let him know and he can help work it out or be more careful around it. For instance, I have knee issues stemming from muscle atrophy. Working out those muscles means they're tighter than other parts of my legs. John can focus on those muscles (just above and to the inside/outside of my knee) and I feel like a million bucks when he's through. It's an incredibly important part of my physical therapy, even if it wasn't doctor recommended. Too, I'm a pretty uptight person. (I'm self-aware about it at least?) After a session, John can make me feel like I'm practically a Type B. Things to note: TELL HIM if you're having an issue. He can help. Be honest: if you're stressed and just want a quiet session, he's genuinely okay with that and won't take offense. (As an introvert, I really appreciate this about him.) read more

I was given a gift card as a present, and decided to use it on a facial. The only reason I give this place any stars is my esthetician meant well and was sweet, but she should probably seek employment elsewhere. It's clear my extremely basic facial is more of a sales tactic than an actual wellness service. After my facial, which did not give me the additional services I requested, I was given a sales pitch, and when I denied it I was asked why. When I explained to the sales associate it wasn't necessary she became curt, and almost rude. Please visit an actual medical spa for the same rate, instead of this joke. read more

DO NOT USE THEIR MEMBERSHIPS! I purchased the membership down in Pensacola, FL and asked specifically how easy it is to transfer service from one branch to another due to being in the military. I was assured it was an easy process but after 3 and a half months of them needing more information is ridiculous. I had to submit more information to track my location for this place then I did to get my security clearance. YOU ARE A MASSAGE PARLOR why do you care where I lived and how many times I have moved in the last year? Then we try to use the Hampton location in the Peninsula Town Center. Its terrible. The masseuse really just did an oil rub down vice a massage. We paid for the aroma therapy and they didn't do it. Then we schedule appointments and the masseuse doesn't even bother to show up. We were left waiting in the waiting room for 30 minutes before they told us that she wasnt there today. Then we were told sorry we can reschedule. That's it. Now I'm trying to cancel my membership and the local store tells me contact the corporate office. The number is on the website. You are not able to contact corporate directly. Its a bunch of chains and redirections. The only corporate number on that site is their survey number, and they don't deal with memberships or have any contact information for the business they service. They don't even easily allow you cancel your membership if needed. This is terrible business practices and I would never recommend anyone ever go here. For the price you pay to relax this place doesn't cut it. read more

Having had back pain for decades due to a car accident, I got accustomed to just dealing with the pain...until I met John at Massage Envy. His technique is unparalleled. I get absolute pain relief with each visit. One time, I injured my arm walking my dog and it caused acute pain in my shoulder and right arm. I told him before the start of the session and he worked in that area very well. I left completely relieved of that pain and haven't had it since. If you are looking for a "spa experience," then you will get that with other massage therapists who are very good and professional. Though John can deliver the same, his gift is definitely pain management and I continue to book him. John is highly skilled, professional, and thorough with his service. This locations is beautiful and the staff are amazing. Even the therapists are nice and great at their job. My complaint is with the owner. My husband is deployed and I was added in to his account. I was told that with a copy of his orders I could cancel the account in full. I just had to provide the paperwork BEFORE my next charge on December 26, 2015. I emailed them a copy of my husbands orders on December 20, 2015. Somehow my credit card was still charged. When I called I was told that the owner said I couldn't cancel. Now she's giving me a hard time saying that the copy of the orders isn't good enough. I don't even live in the area anymore. I'm beyond stressed already and she is making it worse. At ten minutes past my appointment time, I'm told that the therapist isn't coming in because they have been on medical leave for a while and I "shouldn't have been booked" ok well y'all booked me and confirmed me sooooo....I was told I could wait or come later or go very far out of my way. I said no I booked this appointment for this location and this day and time and took the whole day off work for this, and they didn't really care "can I incentivize this for you?" No you could've just told me Saturday when you all called and confirmed and when I called back, or even when I walked in the door today. This is my FIRST time at this location. I don't recall the guys name but also a FIRST time having let a guy do my massage. Guess I should have known better. I think my 3 year old cousin could have done a better job then him. I hate that I don't know his name but I was already a little uncomfortable when he came to get me and was more relaxed than I was when I left since he was shoeles. I'm just not sure if that should be allowed or if even appropriate. Sadly I left the same way I came still needing a good massage and like my gift card was stolen from me. I've been to other locations and have never left feeling like this and always thought the person did an awesome job. Well where do I start.. the customer service here sucks and I mean it is clearly a very low standard on how they treat their customers! My wife has had a membership to them for awhile now approximately 20 months and when we called on the first occasion to cancel the membership we were told they would have to talk to the manager who is NEVER onsite apparently and fill out a cancellation form! We did just that and still the next month they still drafted our account for their monthly fee for a membership that we cancelled previously with filling out the form. Only to find out it was a different form to fill out. Again when we were given this information they said they would have the manager who is NEVER onsite again! Call us only to NEVER have received that call! When we called again the next day the customer service representative hung up in our face and then when we called back they screened our calls. I came to Massage Envy because I had pain in my right shoulder blade that ran all the way down my right arm and right side of my neck. It hurt to move my right arm and to turn my head. My therapist listened to my concerns and addressed the areas in need as well as my entire body. I left there after a 60 minute session feeling like a NEW woman! Thank you Rachel so very much! Not a place for great, or even good, customer service. My son booked us massages today. We showed up earlier than they asked. I filled out survey for first timers and had seat in tranquility lounge. My son was called back, a few minutes late, but I digress. After waiting several more minutes of waiting (knowing the delay was going to shorten my hands on time) I went out to inquire about absent/late therapist. Meghan, the receptionist, never had to wait for question as she knew who I was not in room. She half heartedly said that the therapist I was booked with was not even due in for another hour and a half! She then went on to say o should have never been booked at all, due to availability, and that her coworker made a mistake. Being that this was several minutes after my start time I asked them someone planned on informing me. Agsin, completely unapologetically, she let me know she had just gotten off phone with therapist. As she had been discussing something with another employee at the time I was not happy. She excused herself to go speak with someone. Upon her return I was offered a later time. So I wait for my son and then he has to wait for me!?! The time was not doable due to my scheduled flight. I am very upset over Massage Envy's lackluster scheduling and weak response to a problem of their creation. Once they know you have signed the dotted line they just don't care. Unless of course you want to upgrade this or that (i.e. spend more $) then they care a little more. But only for the moment your wallet is open. The worst part will be telling my son to make sure they did not charge his account as it will upset him and stress him out right after his massage. He tried to do a nice thing for us and I don't want it all to be for not. But screw Massage Envy for allowing this to even be possible. I believe the are franchised, and If so, I hope the powers that be change done things. Therapists should be on site several minutes be before session start time to avoid this. Front line customer service people should be MUCH better trained for problem resolution. I doubt they will even compensate him for my my inconvenience. If I could give this place no stars I would! The professionalism is horrible here. I booked an appointment well ahead of time and thought everything would be fine. On the actual day of my appointment one of the employees called my phone and told me TWO HOURS BEFORE MY APPOINTMENT that the person who was scheduled to do my massage called out sick and wanted to see if I could reschedule for a completely different day! This was a huge inconvenience due to the fact that this was a part of a birthday celebration plan! They didn't even offer to compensate me in any way! If you have tension issues, or consistent injuries or pain go see John! I have RA, fibromyalgia, and migraines and have been seeing John for over 2 years. The tension my back and neck holds is incredible, but John keeps it in check with his trigger point therapy. You know those knots you get... those are trigger points - and John woks on those and relieves the pain. As a very active older person, I have had injuries in the last few years (torn pectoral muscle, sprained ankles, elbow issues, and general soreness from horseback riding falls) - John helps my body recover faster. While I enjoy most Massage Envy experiences, today was not that. After not being able to schedule massages due to my work schedule I finally had some time available. My normal location was booked so I called the Hampton location. I spoke with receptionist letting her know I needed a morning appointment. She booked me for a 90 minute session at 0830. This morning I show up about 810 - knowing there is paperwork needed...doors locked. Business hours indicate 0800 opening. At 0828 an employee finally shows up to open. She asked if I had an appointment to which I told her 0830. She then told me they don't take appointments at that time. After calling the receptionist that worked yesterday we discovered she scheduled me for 830 pm. So here I am heading home after wasting a full hour of my day. Take head of the other reviews...this location is lacking in customer service. Update: Crystal made a great attempt to repair their first impression. While she is crediting my account it dies not fill the need I had for some relaxation time or my 90 minutes wasted driving there, waiting, and driving back. read more

Mmmm.... I have been to a few massage envys, this one ranks number two on my happy list. But number one may have been just because it was my first massage ever, i will have to do some research. The staff is always friendly and fast. I think there should be a no phones in the relaxation room policy though. Some guy was blaring sports and that just kills the calm feeling. Every other time though, I want to fall asleep as soon as I walk in that room. It's so peaceful and I just love the salt lamps. If you are lucky enough to find an opening in mr johns schedule, book him! He is by far my favorite. Followed by ms faith. Both have firm pressure. But john pays special attention to each and every knot. My last massage was the closest I have ever come to falling asleep during a massage. Yep... now I need another one. read more
