I cannot overstate how negative my experience has been with this franchise. I noticed a charge of $ 121 on my card. When I contacted a representative of this location, I was told that I scheduled a same day massage for 11:30am at 11:06am and then no showed the appointment. Logically, this makes absolutely no sense. Additionally, I received no phone call during the HOUR AND A HALF that I supposedly booked to alert me to said no show and give me the opportunity to present to the location. Furthermore, I received no email or text confirmation of the appointment to alert me to the fact that an appointment was scheduled to begin with. When requesting a refund, I was essentially gaslit on repeat and told that I consented to the cancellation policy when I made the appointment (that I didn't make!) There was never even remote entertainment of the idea that their technology may have malfunctioned and absolutely no responsibility taken on their part of the issue despite the seemingly clear error that occurred. All of this to say, I would not go here. If you do, I would not use their online booking system. If you make an appointment and don't receive any notification, call immediately. Otherwise, I fear you too will be erroneously charged. read more

Our normal therapist was amazing. However, the front desk and management are horrible to work with. They continuously booked us incorrectly, promised us upgrades to negate them Messing up and then told us they hadn't promised anything, and messed up cancellation paperwork and overcharged my husband. The Hyde Park location is awful! It's mainly with the staff and owner...the worst!! The staff entered in the wrong date on their computer system and then charged my CC $140 when I didn't show up to an appointment I never made! The correct date was 2/15/21 and she logged in 1/15/21. I am a new customer and bought massages for myself and two sons for Christmas and they treated me so rudely. The staff kept saying we no-called no-showed and I kept saying, please stop saying I no-called no-showed to an appointment I never made! It was staff error. No problem we are all humans and make mistakes but the owner would not make it right and authorize a refund. He said, who should I believe, my staff or you? I was so offended. I said I am a new customer and purposely made it on Presidents day when my kids were off school. There was no mistaking what the correct date should have been as me and one of your staff had a very detailed conversation about it needing to be on a day when my kids were off school. I am a new customer...what ever happened to customer courtesy?! I said the 3 of us were going to become members and asked him if he would rather lose 3 customer memberships over refunding my CC for a charge that shouldn't be there in the first place. He said yes! Err. Bottom line is that I was charged for a service I never received and an appointment I never made! I then looked up this locations reviews and they are not good. And it has nothing to do with the massage therapists...its all staff. One reviewer even went as far as to say they were thieves. The bad reviews consist of not cancelling memberships when requested and then not refunding the extra months they were charged, etc Look it up for yourself. Awful reviews for the staff/management/owner. The good news: Since I bought the three massages in gift cards, I went to the Newport location to use them on President's Day as originally planned. They were fantastic! It was going to snow and they went out of their way to call me and to stay if I wake up Monday morning and there's snow and i want to reschedule..it would be no problem. I should have read the reviews before I signed up at Massage Envy Hyde Park for a year contract! SImply AWFUL! Here is my experience: After my first contact with Massage Envy Hyde Park location I should've known better than to continue my relationship with them. I physically walked into Hyde Park location to make an appointment and specifically asked for a female therapist. The person who made the appointment said that he would absolutely make sure I had an appointment with a female. That weekend I went out of my way to go to my appointment in Hyde Park and low and behold they put me with a male therapist and there was no female therapist available. I was rerouted (out of my way) to get a 30 min massage. I was so aggravated and should have made a review (which I rarely ever do) at that point. But instead of giving a review I just decided not to go back to that location ever again. Months went by and I found out that I needed to have surgery and then I was unable to have a massage for a couple of months. I contacted the office and they said that I needed to fill out a freeze form and send it into their office. I did fill out a freeze form but he said the email system wasn't working properly and they didn't have it. He also informed me that I needed to update my CC information as well. I asked him to resend me another freeze form and I'd send it to him again and I'd give him my CC information only if he didn't charge my CC for the total amount due since it wasn't my fault that they their system wasn't working correctly. He told me that once he received my freeze form he would speak to his manager and let them know that it wasn't my fault that this had happened. I then gave him my cc information over the phone but then low and behold he contacted me and said the information wasn't saved??? What a Joke! He emailed me the next day saying that he needed my CC information because my account wasn't up to date? Excuse me??? Did we not have a whole conversation about this? Waste of time! I went out of town for Thanksgiving and came back to messages from Massage Envy Hyde Park stating I needed to call them to give them my updated CC information. When I called them back today, I gave them my updated info AGAIN but then before I could even remind the person that I needed to send in my freeze form still and once I did that then they could reset my membership. This did not happen. She charged my card for the entire amount due (even though they should've had a freeze form). She put my on hold apparently to call the person I spoke to and ask about the situation and evidently he told her he never said that to me. I would like to never ever ever deal with this location EVER again. They have horrible customer service and when you call to speak to a manager and you're told they will call you when they get back into the office that day but then they don't call you until mid the following week threatening to discontinue your membership and lose my 4 massage sessions that I've already paid for but hadn't used. Come on! You have got to be better than this. Where is the customer service? This is the WORST location. I repeat...THE WORST! Find another location or just find another massage salon. I have really enjoyed going to this location the last year. Rose is my favorite massage therapist. She is amazing and always listens to what I want. I've also had Shelby before and she is also very good. This is also a great place to get a facial. Laura is really good and she also gives you a good little massage while your facial mask is sitting. Called me to basically cancel my appointment an hour before I was scheduled. They claim that who I was scheduled with was sick, which I'm assuming means she didn't come in. Then she tried to move my appointment to 4pm. If I wanted to come in at 4 I would have scheduled that. Then she asked if I would rather book for a massage. No, if I wanted a massage I would have booked one in the first place. Kinda wanted a facial. So I canceled but they still have my credit card info on file which makes me really uncomfortable. Awful experience, let me set the stage. I scheduled an 1 hr whole body massage, facial and sugar foot scrub. Walk in and I hear the 19sh yr old counter girl on phone asking for a Dr.s excuse from a package purchasing customer in order for them to get out of the multi massage contract they got suckered into. My facial started off with the esthetician putting on a hair band around my face. Ok , I am a 47 year old guy with barely enough hair to sport a crew cut. She said it's just a habit of hers. Ok, just went with it. She proceeded to add one product after the other an kept rubbing my jaw like a Jeanie was going to pop out. She missed most of my face. Put some stuff on that felt like acid. I ran to the bathroom to wash off. Came back and hoped it would get better. The jaw bone rubbing continued but she paid some more attention to my forehead but forget most of my face. I doubt she had the 600 hrs of training that this chain advertises. Finally she finished, that was a ruff start. The masseur comes in, I tell her I would like a firm massage. She starts to gently rub the left side of my back like "wax on wax off" motion. 15 minites into it I ask her if this is the warm up. She says "would you like it stronger" YA! Then she starts to do the old forearm, elbow lean into the same left side of my back. This is the lazy persons approach to giving a massage. She kept on with this approach on the same area of my back for the next 30 min. I am thinking, should I just walk out now? I tell her to work on my Traps. She had no idea what I said so I pointed to my Trapezoids she started the old forearm lean again. Then she starts rubbing my triceps and says "this will help out your traps". REALLY! Decided to fight it out just so I could write a complete review for Yelp. 45 min into it she says "should I sit on your your back or move on"? Are you kidding me? Ask her to work my calves. Hear we go again with the lean. I could have given a better massage with one thumb. I was into it for $110. Told the cashier that it was stressful from start to finish. I was not going to leave a tip. They took the facial off of the bill so I tipped $20 for both of them. It's the managements fault for hiring such bad techs. Buyer Beware!! Although my massages at this particular Massage Envy have been "good" I would like to make all future buyers aware of their contract policy. Each month I was charged $59.99 for 1 massage and it was set on an auto renewal payment for a year. I received no notification via email, phone, or when I was present in the establishment, that my yearly contract would be up this February. I had accumulated 2.5 massages while I was traveling for 3 months and wanted to use them today. Unbeknownst to me... When your membership "ends" you loose all accumulated massages. My credit card had already been charged and paid in full but no representative, manager or operations manager- was willing to even honor the massages I have already paid for UNLESS I was willing to sign another year long contract. After Massage envy essentially stole $150 I had no intention on paying for their services again. Especially since no one was willing to make good on the massages I have already paid for. These are bad business practices and I am disappointed that I flushed $150 dollars down the toilet. read more

Very disappointed. Today would have been the first appointment of my new membership. I was told on the phone that I was all set for an appointment AT 2PM. I arrive about 7 minutes early and am told that my operator called in sick but they don't have my phone number. I don't know why, I was just there last week. They have my email from a previous membership and my credit card number. I initialed a 2 page form in 7 places just 7 days ago. How do you have my email and not my phone number. I went to this location for my first massage almost a year ago, and while it was okay I was disappointed recently to discover there was a small charge on my account. Since I knew I had not been there in a year, I worried it was a skimming charge. I tried calling the store several times during their hours of operation and no one answered so I called my bank to have my card cancelled and filed a dispute against the charge. I finally received a call back from Massage Envy and apparently someone with my name had paid for something and my account was accidentally pulled up. I find this very ridiculous that my card was kept on file and used a year later for someone who's identity was not even verified. Have been a member for years and going to this location for last 3 years. Definitely reconsidering my membership at this location following events of today. Clearly asked desk clerk to charge the credit card in my hand. Instead she charged the card on file. When I asked which card she used she confirmed the one in my hand and not on file. Receipt machine is broke. I leave and check my account and see payment was made to wrong card. I go back and ask for payment to be refunded and added to correct card. I came to this location last month after a stressful week. I called on a weekend to see if they had any last minute openings and to my surprise they did. Overall, the massage was very good, and I would come back for that. However, when I called, I specifically asked the woman how much the massage would be and I was quoted $52 (which seemed low to me). Much to my surprise, when I looked at my signed receipt once I got in my car the total charged was actually $83. I don't mind paying for a good massage, but clearly I was given the wrong information, and hence I gave my masseuse a pretty poor tip (unknowingly). I wasn't a regular massage person but after a great one on a vacation in MN, I decided to join a spa when I returned home. Massage Envy has been great, especially masseuse Nick. I feel awesome after each visit, and can't wait for my next one. Nick is well skilled at working out all the knots in my neck, shoulders, and back, and always concerned when he might be using excessive pressure. This used to be my go-to place. This past time I went it became clear to me that their priorities have shifted to one thing - sales. My masseuse tried to sell me a facial during my massage, the sales speech at the check out desk was LONG. And when I said I wasn't interested, the lady wanted to know why instead of just leaving it at that. Worst of all, I could see their sales goal board sitting in the office with the amount of facials each worker has sold and how much income they've brought in. It was uncomfortable and annoying. On top of all of that, they tried to charge $101 for an hour. HA! That's $20 more than Mitchell's with a fraction of the professionalism and ambiance. I will not be going back. read more

The therapists have been great. The service has not. Stop working on selling more memberships. Start servicing who you've got so you can keep them. Get your written materials accurate. I wanted to transfer a massage to my son. I have a card which clearly states "members can share their accumulated massages with friends and family." I was told there was a $10 fee to do this. I found it buried in the contract, but it's not what is stated in the marketing piece (which is used to sell memberships). I called at 6PM to confirm if I had an appointment either at 7 or 7:30. And I was told by machine that I would be taken care just as individually as whoever they were too busy working with to answer my call. No call back. At 6:35, I called them and after voicing my displeasure, they told me "they were just getting ready to call me back." Aaargh!! We were visiting from out of town and just found this M. E. on our phones. I needed a frozen shoulder to be worked on so we were walk in customers.I was not expecting much but was super impressed with Micah who worked very hard on my left arm. He did things that my physical therapist did plus massage. He knew all the muscles and was very very good with deep tissue massage as well as helpful in teaching me what was going on. I also appreciated that he was very clean, honoring and felt safe enough that you could send your daughter. I wish Micah lived in my city because i would go to him regularly for massage therapy. I have had a few massages at this Massage Envy location - each with a different therapist. I have not been impressed at all by the quality of the massage I received. The low price made it difficult for me to give up on this place, so I tried to keep an open mind. After my last experience, I will not be back. I paid for an hour and only got 40 minutes. The therapist spent a lot of time teaching me about how my muscles connect with hand gestures, vs. focusing on loosening my tight muscles. I was also getting a sales pitch during my massage about how I needed to sign up for their membership. This is not my idea of a relaxing experience and while I usually leave massages at other places feeling better, I didn't feel much relief at all after my massage at Massage Envy. Checking out was even a hassle and it took forever because the person at the front made a mistake with my bill. I honestly would have been ok with it, except for the fact that she didn't apologize for her error and the extra time I had to wait for her to fix it. My best advice: go down to Avalon in the same shopping center for an amazing experience with WELL trained therapists that will leave you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated! You will pay a little bit more but it is well worth it to get a quality massage. read more

Had a great massage therapist here, but sadly the front desk, manager (and owner) could not be worse. TERRIBLE. Staff pushes rebooking, which is fine. Problem is 3 times in a period of 2 months the booking wasn't completed somehow by the desk staff, so I thought I had an appointment when I didn't. That's a sign of a poorly trained staff. I tried to get it resolved through the manager, who wouldn't call back, wouldn't call back. Finally, I communicated that I was canceling my membership. Shortly thereafter, Massage Envy sent my account to collection. Could get no response from the owner of this franchise, Tanya Canapi Victa. I have some gift cards left, and would like to find out balance. ME won't do it online and this franchise won't do it over the phone. Have had a much better experience at Hand & Stone in Oakley. Love this location. I've been with Massage Envy for quite a while now and was traveling for a for the past 6 months or so. Tried out many different locations from South Bay, CA - Chicago - Cincinnati. By far this location blows them all out of the water. The staff is friendly and I have to admit I found the best therapist, Nathan! If you're looking to great massage where you actually feel results, Nathan is your guy. WOW! I'm an out-of-towner, and so sad that I can't get this kind of service where I live! I've been really tough on my back, neck and shoulders, lately with lots of solo driving, a move, and sleeping in beds that I'm not used to. I woke up two days into my visit with family in Cinci unable to turn my head at all. Thank GOD for Paul! These folks were able to get me in with just a few hours notice and boy did they deliver. I left feeling like a whole new woman. I was in a lot of pain when I came in, and Paul was super attentive, slow, and careful not to hurt me--but also expertly applied just the right amount of pressure in just the right places. It took the full hour, but by the end I wasn't in pain anymore and I had my full range of motion back. Thank you Massage Envy, and thank you Paul! You are a miracle worker! read more

****DO NOT SIGN UP FOR A MEMBERSHIP **** I had surgery back in May of this year. I signed up for a membership to help with pain relief. A few months after getting the membership I decided I no longer needed this clinics services. I contacted the clinic to cancel they said sure they would cancel it but did not I was charged the membership fee the following month. At that point I was pretty annoyed so I contacted the clinic again and requested the manager I believe her name was Jennie. Jennie cancelled the services for me and told me all the membership fees I had paid at that point I can still come in and use to get services since I couldn't get my money back and I was fine with that. However I called today to make an appointment using the credits I should've had and they told me the way she cancelled my services does not allow me to get any massages. So basically I paid months of membership fees got no massages and out of my money I am pissed!!! Oh and they couldn't even get her on the phone to speak with me! Way to do business! read more

After living in Cincinnati for 4 years and now having moved away, I feel compelled to review and support my favorite cincinnati places. Places like Massage Envy are hard to review because your experience is completely depending on your masseuse and can vary from location to location. But this place has MICAH, who is THE ABSOLUTE BEST masseuse I have ever had. As a resident, I spent a lot of time typing away at a computer all day with terrible posture...and ended up with tense shoulders and a sore back all too often. Every time I went to see Micah, he somehow just knew what I needed, and I left feeling relaxed and less tense after every session. I feel bad giving such a terrible review however my experience at massage envy was not the best. The front desk staff was adorable and very kind. However I went for a relaxing massage and left very disappointed. I had one of the male therapists (I am so sorry I forgot his name), and he was extremely awkward and did a horrible job. He did not even massage my arms or legs, and when asking me about sensitive areas he looked down at the floor uncomfortably. I heard him groan and make comments under his breath complaining about the "stress relieving" lotion I got because it didn't have a pump dispenser. He ended with a drum session on my back and it just was extremely disappointing. I felt like it was a huge joke. I wrote a review and spoke with the front desk asking about the therapist and their experience and was told I would be contacted from a manager however I was not. The front desk lady mentioned she had another client who said the same about this therapist and would never have him again. My husband had a good experience so I am hoping it was just one bad apple. read more

I decided to get a massage at the last minute and none of my regular therapists were available so I went to Massage Envy for the first time. The place was very busy and I felt like we were being herded in like cattle. The massage was supposed to be for 60 minutes, but it actually ended up being about 50 minutes. They obviously don't book any down time in between massages so they trim off the time from the clients. My therapist was not good at all, he had no flow to the massage and I have had better massages from friends who were not trained. This was a very disappointing experience and in the future I will stick to my known therapists who I normally go to. read more

I can only say that you get what you pay for and that is how I felt when I left. The person who waited on me was very nice and personable, but lacked the experience that I am accustomed to. I was only a customer at this establishment one time, and while that experience was good at the time, I have since had my credit card number and personal information (i.e. name, address, phone number) stolen and used at this salon. The caller was able to make an appointment under my name, and when the caller failed to show up for the appointment, I was charged their cancellation fee because Massage Envy did not verify a security code for the card that THEY STILL HAD CONNECTED TO MY NAME IN THEIR SYSTEM. Beware that they do not verify you are in fact who you say you are other than to ask if you have been there before, how to spell your name, and what your phone number is. If they do ask if you have been there before, and you have in fact used a card there, they are able to use your credit card number to charge your account. The manager was not at all concerned that an employee of his most likely stole my information, and he was not flexible in helping to refund my money. read more
