This is easily the worst Massage Envy I've ever been to. Sure, I could mention the extremely high turnover rate and lack of consistent training. But what I really want to mention is how a massage therapist assaulted me, and this location continues to employ him. My massage therapist was Bryant and here are all of the ways he made me feel unsafe: hurting me because he was moving faster than was safe, ran his elbow into my spine repeatedly (probably because he was moving so fast, he started breathing heavily), contorting my arms/shoulders without care (even though I mentioned MULTIPLE TIMES having a joint disorder), refused to slow down to a normal pace after I asked him to slow down, commenting on my tattoos (which is against policy), and then when I told him very loudly and firmly that the massage was over, he just said, "okay," and continued to try and massage me before I repeated that the massage was over. Massage Envy was extremely performative with this entire situation when I immediately reported it. The general manager rushed down to take a statement and apologized for what happened. Their rapid response team took a statement a handful of days later. Sounds good, right? Then I heard nothing about it afterward and saw the massage therapist back on the schedule only a couple weeks later. Definitely not enough time to investigate, train him in proper massage protocol, how to work with joint disorders, and the importance of consent every step of the way. I'm now traveling to a Massage Envy thirty minutes away, to use up my remaining credits because I don't want to run into this guy. I've been with Massage Envy for almost nine years, and this location has solidified my decision to cancel my contract as soon as I use up my credits at a different location. I debated leaving this review, but if I can keep at least one woman safe, it'll be worth it. Horrible customer service. I had a gift card for a 90 minute massage and a complimentary gift of a 60 minute facial. I explained all of this when I booked my appointments. They strategically scheduled my facial first and then charged me the full non member fee for the massage which then left me with a balance that they charged to my credit card which was on file because they won't schedule anything, even when you explain you have a gift card that covers the entire massage, without putting a card on file. I did not approve the charge. My teenage boys had put together their money to gift me the massage for mothers day and were told the 90 minute massage was covered with the gift card. I find it extremely shady that they not only scheduled my appointments in a way that benefited them with no explanation to me, and they charged me an additional $75, but then ran my card without me signing anything. And then they have the audacity to push a membership on me. Ya, not happening. Holly was fantastic and I tipped her accordingly, but I'll never go back. read more

Front desk is always delightful! Had a massage with Yazmine. 24 hours after I have extremely limited movement. My entire neck and back area are in agony. I generally have good experiences here. However, I would never recommend Yazmine as a therapist. We hold membership so are stuck. But we will carefully select our providers in the future! read more

Went in to purchase a gift certificate, the person behind the counter charged a credit card on file although I handed her cash and offered a different form of payment. Response "oh well". Got home realized that she didn't provide receipt- called back said they would email receipt- no email. Later discovered that they charged me twice. Called manager have now left 3 messages over a weeks period of time with no return call. Will not be returning. Bad customer service. read more

Made an appointment for a facial and when showing up found out this location was not doing steam or extractions at the moment. Was very disappointed and should have been told this when I made the appointment. The point to the facial is steam and extraction. I could have just put a mask on at home. I recently tried out Massage Envy for the first time ever, & was highly disappointed. I have had a total of maybe 15-20 massages in my life, so consider myself fairly educated as to what a "good" massage is. This might have been the worst massage I've ever received...or at least a tie with one other individual. I realize everyone has their own styles & methods, but believe overall effectiveness should reflect the end experience. Once I arrived at Massage Envy, I signed in & was promptly introduced to the gentleman who would be my therapist. I typically prefer female therapists, but understood I couldn't be picky due to my later 8PM appointment. Surely, this nationally known brand for massage holds a standard for all their therapists, right? Not so much it seems. Maybe the less skilled/trained employees work later evenings though? If this is the case, I would've liked to know this prior to booking & might have changed to a daytime appointment instead. Finally though, to the point, the reasons I was so unhappy with the massage itself are that it overall was just awkward. His technique was jerky & all over the place. He did the standard quadrants of the body, front & back, but was constantly bumping into the table &/or me (he bumped me in the head a couple times with no acknowledgement). He was also constantly raising & lowering the table, trying to strike up conversation, & most annoyingly of all, eating those little lifesaver mints that are provided in a big bowl at the front counter. This was all pretty counterproductive to helping me get my zen on. Additionally, the massage itself was mostly just a lot of pushing down on various muscles/areas vs. actual massage. After it was all over (which it was over 5 minutes earlier than it should've been, but i was kinda ok with that), I didn't experience the normal "I'm so relaxed & happy I just wanna lay here for a few minutes" thing. Instead, got up, got dressed, & headed back out to the lobby where I expected he'd be waiting to try & book a second appointment (again, typical right?). Normally, I would've also paid at this point, but because this was an anniversary gift from my boyfriend, he had taken care of payment & tip. So, I just left - more confused & stressed about this experience than relaxed & happy. I am not one to write reviews & don't like to complain, but feel like it was such a miss of an experience that I had to. I finally even told my boyfriend how disappointing it was (I felt terrible about this, but wanted advice as to what to do about it...and here we are) & he's unhappy that he wasted his money & an anniversary present on it. Lesson learned, & will use one of the many other locally reputable massage locations in the future. read more

Any massage is still usually still nice, right? I am in so much more pain than I was before I went! My "hour" massage was actually only 51 minutes minus however long it took to get towels multiple times, which didn't seem necessary. I asked for specific areas done and was still having muscle spasms during the massage. You would think the masseuse would have gone right back to the areas that had me spasming up off the table, but just said oh I'm sorry you're spasming. The extra $12 for deep tissue still wasn't as deep as I need it. I left being told I should see a chiropractor, awkwardly asked by front desk about a tip, and having more pain than I did going in. They were causing the spasms by putting pressure around where I needed it but not ON it. I guess they're so terrified of a lawsuit that they can't even do their job the way it needs to be done. This is why I don't get massages. read more

Have been a member since 2013. Poor customer service. Unwilling to work with loyal members and only seem to be after your money. Have been unhappy for the last few years, but they make it practically impossible to cancel your membership unless you're willing to forfeit all of your already paid for massages. I'm finally at the point where I'm willing to do that so I just put in my cancellation notice. Don't waste your time going here, spend a bit more and get a true spa experience somewhere else. read more

I won't name any names but the fact of the matter is that they are not a sincere group of folk unless you're TRULY A PATIENT/CUSTOMER..... for instance I went in there a few weeks ago only to be whispered about bc "I was likely 'just inquiring and secondly I went in there with my snack' which is apparently a no-no"! Too I noticed they have a preference for men..... also don't go in there when it's close to closing time, even if that's your only option or your visit is spur of the moment! When asked if I was getting the deep tissue or Swedish massage the therapist began to almost argue with me about deep tissue and deep pressure. Asked me if I had ever had a massage before (I've had well over 50). I could go on about the awkward encounter when I was simply looking for a yes or no answer. The therapist also added NO pressure at all felt like she was just gliding her hands across my back. Don't go here they are awful. I used to be a member at a Massage Envy in Clearwater, FL and had less-than-stellar experiences back then. When I moved to Texas, I talked with the owner Cari and she was able to work with me by transferring the membership I previously had signed up for. I know that there were some fees for cancellations and freezes but they were clearly explained to me. Plus, the services are great quality! Grigori really helped with my middle back pain by working "from the bottom up" and pointing out some tension in my legs that I now stretch out regularly to help prevent the back pain. I also got my first facial here from Alyssa, and she set very clear expectations given that I was about 20 minutes late due to traffic on 35--after I let the front desk know, they even had her greet me at the front to get everything moving along! It ended up being a very relaxing experience instead of feeling rushed. Great service all around! I will definitely be returning and have already made recommendations to friends living south of Austin. read more

I was told explicitly that I could cancel my membership at any time. I asked twice, and was reassured twice that I could cancel at any time. Then, I tried to cancel, and was shown where the contract says in teeny tiny print "only if you've moved 25 miles from a massage envy, or you have a physician's note saying you can't have massages." I was lied to. They will def try to hoodwink you. Also, the massages I DID receive were subpar. :( read more

I had a gift card so I went. When I got there I was expecting a relaxing and peaceful environment. I was greeted kindly, filled out my first timer paperwork. All good up to this point. Then, when my massage was about to start the up-sales began. They are very pushy on me out buying "enhancements." During the massage, the lady would. It stop talking. We went over my high stress areas, the places you want the most attention to, the therapist got distracted or something and spent 85% of her time not doing any of the correct areas. When I was leaving, again they had high pressure sales to get me to come back, offering specials and discounts, asking what enhancement I wanted for next time. The sales made the entire experiences non relaxing, uncomfortable, and disappointing. Then I had to cancel my appointment, they charged my $100 to cancel, when my appointment was only $55 after discounts. Worst Place Ever! read more

Worst customer service EVER !! I called at 3pm on a Thursday to schedule a massage the next day at 3:30pm. I had something come up so I called to cancel the appointment at 10:30 the next day . I was told that I would be charged 1/2 cost because if was not with in 24 hours . I don't know how this would even be possible unless I called on Thursday to cancel my appointment prior to even scheduling it . I explained that to the receptionist but she was not understanding. So I rescheduled for the next Saturday at 10:30 . When I showed up for my appointment I was told I was not scheduled and they didn't even know how that would happen since there is only one massage therapist on Saturdays. I told her when I called to cancel I rescheduled and she told me " sorry must be a glitch in our system" I asked to speak to the manager but unfortunately she was the manager . She never once asked me how they could make it better or if I would like another appointment or even another service . She made me feel like I was wrong and didn't feel the least but concerned with the situation. This is why I do not go to a franchise and stay with local businesses. Unfortunately my husband gave me a gift card from this place so I had to schedule here . I ended up walking out . I needed someplace that could get me in on a Sunday to work on my lower back after weeks of pain. They were nice when I called but the only appt they could get me was a 30min. It would be 2 days before I could get in for something longer. Because I have never been they said it would be 26.00. They asked I get there 15 min early so the paperwork didn't cut into the massage time. Once there they were courteous. Once they found out I was having lower back pain they "highly recommend" that I upgrade my massage to have hot towels and biobreeze (I've used biobreeze for years) --- so yah they got me for another 12.00 The masseuse was nice and asked about the pain and I pointed it out on a chart. So the massage itself was ok. The pressure was not what I would of expected for deep tissue and I told him he could increase it but he didn't. The whole massage only lasted 18min and extra time was used to get the towels and prep which came off my "30 min" plus apparently they allot 5 min to dress :-/ When I was done they wanted me the come back for an hr min massage (what I wanted to begin with) at 99.00!!! Or I could pay 60 a month for 12 months to get an hour massage and 50% off massages after that. Yahhhh no. There are too many groupon and other discount massage therapist for reasonable pricing vs this. I think overall it was okay... Didn't do anything to help my back really and now I just need the pay more to get a full massage. Not gonna go back for those prices :-( read more

I'm not a fan of Massage Envy and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I've been several times and every time I left irritated. 1. If I pay for 90 minutes, I want 90 minutes, not 80. It takes me about 2 minutes to get undressed. So that consulting time or whatever they call it should not be taken off my time! 2. Speaking of their consulting time... I have fibromyalgia, so when I go in, different parts of my body need the attention depending on the day. After telling them this and what areas to concentrate on, it seems to go in one ear and out the other because I get the exact same massage every time, no matter who's doing it. 3. I went in once and was having lots of pain in my feet and I guess I got a therapist who had a foot phobia because the few minutes she did rub my feet, she rubbed them through the sheet and with no pressure at all!!!! I couldn't believe it!!! I have complained to the staff several times and no one over there seems to be very apologetic. I will not ever go back, even as a last resort! I want to be relaxed during and after a massage and that place just makes me crazy!!! read more

I was looking for a place in New Braunfels to get a massage after work but could not find a place that was open past 6:30. Then I found Massage Envy. I had never had a massage at a chain Spa so I took a chance. I called and talked to a woman on the phone and was able to get the last time of the day at 8:00 with a male therapist. I had never had a massage by a male before so I was really apprehensive but knew i was in dire need of a massage and some relaxation. They did ask for a credit card when booking and I understand why so I did not have a problem with giving it. I arrived 15 minutes before my appointment like they suggested and filled out the first time visitor paperwork. The two girls at the front desk were extremely polite and cheerful. The one girl who went over the paperwork with me continuously used my name when speaking to me. Even though she does not know me, it feels like she does. I opted for the $10 upgrade to add aroma therapy lotion to my session and it was worth it to me. I loved smelling the warm and spicy scent of the Aches and Pains aroma I chose. My therapist was Gregori. I asked for medium pressure and it was just the right amount of pressure. I asked that my upper back and shoulders be tended to the most and they were. I would have liked if he had taken a bit more time to work out the knots in my back but what he did work on is no longer in pain today. He started by putting hot towels on my back and applying pressure and I was in heaven. I love the feeling of hot towels. I have two overall complaints: the lotion at times was cold when he rubbed it onto my back which really threw me and there was a small fan on in the room that kept me from fully relaxing to the music that was playing. I walked out of the room feeling fully relaxed and could not believe it had already been an hour. Upon checking out, I was talked into doing the monthly membership where you are set up on automatic payments of $59.99 for one one hour massage a month. You will also get a discounted price on additional massages and facials. There are no additional fees to do this and you may cancel at any time. Be sure to read the fine print and not just what they highlight for you. They do give you a copy for your records which is great! I chose to do 6 months instead of the full year and the cost is still the same. One great thing about this is your massages, or facials, roll over each month. $60 for a one hour massage is a good price and a great excuse to fit in more you time. read more

I gave up mani and pedis and replaced it with massage envy! I feel like I took 20 years off. I love coming here once a month! I get a massage and a facial when I come, typically I see Jenna for the facial and she puts me to sleep every time, they are so relaxing, best part is I've seen huge improvements in my complexion. My favorite therapist are of the three Karen, April or grigori! You CANT GO WRONG with either of them, they have all been therapist for quite some time and really know how to fix me when I'm all knotted up. read more

If I could give this establishment 0 stars, I would. I went in to buy a gift card for my wife for Mother's Day, my daughter wanted her to get a massage. A very nice young lady greeted me, and when I asked about the rates she told me that a 1 hour massage was $60, so I asked for a gift card in that amount. She told me that if I purchased a gift card for $125 I would also get a free facial treatment gift card, that way my wife could get 2- 1 hour massages and a facial treatment. I agreed and purchased a gift card in that amount. My wife called in to set up an appointment and spoke to another female, who stated again that she could get a total of 2- 1 hour massages out of that $125 gift card, but that there were no openings that day. Today she called in to set up an appointment and a male manager told her that the first hour is $60, but an hour massage after that would be $100. This was the first time we had been told this, so I spoke to him and told him what I had been told when I purchased the gift card. He told me that he was sure something could be worked out, but that the owner would have to make that decision. He took down my number and told me the owner would be contacting me. A few hours later I received a call from massage envy where a young lady told me that the $60 first hour, $100 second hour policy would be upheld. When I told her how I had been sold the gift card being told it would cover 2- 1 hour massages she responded saying that it was a miscommunication from a new hired person with little training. When I told her about the conversation my wife had with another female employee who said breaking the gift card down to 2- 1 hour massages was the way to go, she stated that the girl was probably the same misinformed employee that sold me the gift card initially. She stated that it wouldn't be fair to the customers who paid for a membership if we were allowed to do two massages at $60 each. I told her that this wasn't my fault, and that I would rather just get a refund than continue with this. She stated that I could not get a refund on a gift card as it was a posted policy, even in this circumstance. I asked if, as the owner, she could rectify this in any way. She stated that she was not the owner, and when I told her that I had been told by the manager that the owner would be contacting me she replied that she too was a manager, but that she had been there longer and had more experience than the male manager whom I had spoken with previously. I asked if I could speak to the owner and she told me, "No, she's pretty busy." She then gave me the corporate number and said that maybe they could help in some way. One solid star for the front office, one for the esthetician Jenna. These people were great! As they say, you are only as good as your weakest link. I'd like to suggest to management, please experience your therapists' techniques and clinical mannerisms before hiring or do random appointments during their hire. I had a family member who had a massage, along with my own appointment and she experienced the same, I'd say worse massage as I did. Mine was 30 minutes, her's, an hour. The technique could have been somewhat forgiven had it not been so random. There was no asking of how pressure felt, there was barely a hello or good bye. She stayed on one side of my upper back for 30 minutes. My family member had an hour laying on her face with only her back massaged. We are so disappointed and feel very badly that a family member spent a great amount of money for gift cards for this service. At least offer water at the end of the session. Management, please visit your therapists, other locations as well so that you may see the difference. I have been going to Massage Envy for at least 8 years and recently cancelled my membership only because I have to move. The place I usually visit, and others I have tried have been exceptional. I've had a massage by almost every therapist here and they are all amazing and have their own specialties. So try them all to make sure you get the perfect fit. They also do facials at this location, and the esthetician Valerie is wonderful and super knowledgable. The products are so great, my skin looks amazing for 2 weeks after the facial! It seems I am not the only one with a complaint with this massage envy and it seems they haven't fixed the problems. Seems like everyone that wants a Swedish massage is happy. But from reading the responses the people that wanted a deep tissue massage didn't get what they paid for. I specifically ask for a deep tissue massage. Halfway through the massage I ask is this a Swedish or Deep tissue you massage. He then treated me like I was an idiot and tried to explain to me that most don't want a deep tissue massage rather a firm pressure massage. He then showed me what a deep tissue massage was on my arm. I ask again I thought I paid for a deep tissue massage he said he did use some deep tissue massage techniques in some areas. Well that didn't happen until I said something and he did use some on my arm to show me what a deep tissue massage should feel like. To funny. Oh and the funny thing is you have to pay extra for it. Mine massage was giving to me and she made sure it was a deep tissue massage and even had them write it down on the envelope the then card came in. The girl up front ask me how my massage was and I said okay. She could tell I wasn't happy. She ask me what was wrong I said I thought I paid for a deep tissue massage and I didn't get it. I told her I paid extra for the deep tissue massage she said that was the the hot towels and special oil. I told her no I said I needed a deep tissue massage. She then looked and she said it should have been a deep tissue because it was written down. So they said sorry and that was it. So on to the next sucker. Don't get me wrong the massage was nice but it wasn't what I paid for or ask for. The girls up front were very sweet and were very professional. SO IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE I WOULD LOOK ELSEWHERE. Oh and they did want my credit card when I booked my appointment which I thought was funny because it was a gift card that was paid upfront and the tip was already added in.
