I prefer a medium pressure. I carry the most tension on my neck and shoulders. My go to masseuse is Patra. She is the person to go to if you need extra attention on your neck. She moves your hair out of the way and really gets in on your neck. I've been a member for 4 years and I've had the variety of ME experiences, ranging from excellent to mediocre. Appreciate the convenience and customer service for what it is Anyway, today I chose to have a spontaneous massage and saw within an hour, Stephanie was available. I made a call to the store and they helped me secure my hour time. When I arrived, I was greeted with a friendly front desk staff and appreciated the cleanliness of the lobby, waiting area, and bathrooms. Stephanie was my massage therapist and I appreciated how communicative and friendly she was. I asked for insights and education to what parts of my back were tight and she delivered. We focused on my upper body with medium firmness. I appreciated the light convo and I know she could read the moment when I didn't feel like talking as much. I enjoyed my massage very much, so when my hour was coming to an end I jokingly asked if there was a possibility for extension. She walked with me to the front and they were able to accommodate and modify to a 90 minute session to focus on lower extremities. I've had a gift card for Massage Envy for a couple months now, but I had to wait to use it until I knew what type of shoulder injury I had. I was having so much shoulder pain recently that I just decided to go ahead and have a massage anyways. I arrived 15 minutes before my session, and I guess there was a miscommunication with my check-in because my session started late. I cannot remember my masseuse's name but she did a good job of taking care of me and making sure she wasn't applying too much pressure at any given time. They let you know that you can customize your session by telling your masseuse how much pressure to give, but I thought that was a norm when getting a massage. I came out of my session feeling better than I did when I went in, and they tried to sell me on the membership, which is $70/month for a 60 minute massage session/facial. In my opinion it's a little pricey, and what they fail to tell you is you're locked in for a 12-mo period, kinda like a gym membership, and I've been through that with a gym before...not fun. My experience is too long but I'm going to make it short for the public to understand and to be aware. I booked my appointment online for 5pm and it was booked with Dominic. My massage didn't go well at all I was practically abused. He refused to stop and accommodate me. I felt he blamed me and the front desk for booking a massage with him for he called himself a firm massage therapist. Anyways, when I told him again that he was hurting me that it was not a relaxing massage as I requested he basically tossed my foot down. He told me to get up, get dressed and go to the front desk. The only reason I never canceled is because I had tons of pre paid credits that would have gone to waste. When I moved to Rancho I figured I would give this location a try. After getting a few massages by whoever was available I finally found one that's is AMAZING! Her name is Suzy, she is strong, but soft to the touch, and my favorite thing is that she doesn't need to use her elbows or forearms. She has very strong hands and gets in all my problem areas perfectly. Usually I can't wait for my hour to end, with Suzy I'm sad when the 90 minute session is over lol. Thomas is my go to guy. He's been booked months in advance (which is fabulous for him) and any other massage therapist I've seen in between our appts has been subpar at best for my needs. So I cancelled my membership and have a few of those credits left. I called this AM to make an appt for a facial to use the last of my available credits. I was told because I am NOT an active member, I am NOT allowed to make an appt unless I pay nonmember prices or go to my home location where I signed up in (South Pasadena). I live here in Rancho and can only go when my kids are in school- how and why would I go all the way there there? And apparently all the MEs in this area are all owned by the same owner (franchise) therefore that "rule" that just went in to effect a couple of months ago (according to the front desk employee) apply to all the MEs located in this area. These rules are way too tight. Especially if I ALREADY PAID for my credit & even though they're not my home location, THEY STILL GET PAID FROM MY CREDITS. Ridiculous. read more

I have paid $70 a month for all of that time and realized I could never keep up with all of the points that I was accumulating because I was not always going in every single month to get my service. They have a program in which they can freeze the points so you can catch up with Services for all of the money that you have paid. I would not recommend getting a membership with Massage Envy, unless you are dedicated to getting a massage every single month otherwise you are paying an extraordinary amount over and above your actual need for services. it's super upsetting that after all of those years and after all of the money that I've put in that I wasn't even able to get services for the amount of money that I have already paid into Massage Envy. So basically what that means is that I have paid for hundreds and hundreds of dollars of massages that I could never make the time to have. Now that I've canceled I'm not even allowed to use those dollars for services that I have already paid for! Looking back, I would've saved a ton of money just paying for more expensive massages at better salons based on how many times I actually got massages. It's a way to trick you into paying them a lot of money and not making good on all of the money that you have paid and give you the services regardless of when you cancel. DON'T DO IT! read more

Found out by the front desk, that Ontario is under new ownership and they no longer pay you a little incentive for booking in advance to put towards products or enhancements (a little sad about that). I had $8 accumulated, from before, so I was able to use it towards product, I purchased. The new earned incentive for booking in advance, before you leave your current appointment, is now a enhancement to use for the next booked appointment. Not too bad, but very disappointed, this wasn't shared with me, by the front desk, when I made my appointments (facial & massage) a month ago.
