I've been a member here since they opened in 2006. Strangely, I haven't written a review until now! I had taken a friend's advice and tried M.E. out after some mixed experiences testing out the newbies at the Redondo & Manhattan Beach massage 'colleges' that charged similar prices at the time. Now, the 'colleges' were okay but I found the students really varied in their skills as they earned their "hours". .just like pilots.... When I first visited the "college's" and M.E., I had grown very, very tired of the extraordinary prices for a massage charged by the many other 'spas' around. As my income started taking a dive in '08, I began going to M.E. more and more. I absolutely love Massage Envy Rolling Hills and the staff. And it's about 5 minutes away from my home (which is a lot closer and CHEAPER than Terranea and Burke Williams). Massage Envy Rolling Hills is clean and tranquil and the therapists I have had sessions with are all great. Over the years, I have moved from one therapist to the other as they've come and gone and some are harder to book than others. Which is one of the main reasons, I have been hesitant to write a review!! I didn't want to give away my secret favorites else they get all booked up! But it's the holidays so consider this my gift to you...lol. Daisy has been a favorite of mine of late but I have found her all booked up when I find the free time. Her schedule is limited, too, which makes it tough for me. But if you can get a massage with Daisy, book it! I've also enjoyed a couple strong massages from Jackie of late. I hesitated writing this review but I couldn't shake this disgusting feeling of being discriminate against. Last month I booked a 60 minute massage with Christopher H and I live to regret it. I have a membership with massage envy and I come faithfully once a month for either a massage or a facial with Paris. I was told by the front desk ladies to shop around to find the right massage therapist for me. That's just what I did. I personally prefer a male for my massages. I originally chose a different therapist but the time and day did not work for my schedule however Christopher H was available for the day and time I needed. Upon arriving I checked in with the front desk everything was fine they were friendly as usual. I then proceeded to the waiting room after 5 minutes of waiting I went back to the front desk to ask the receptionist where was my therapist. She apologize and proceeded to go to the back to let him know that I was waiting. About 4 minutes later Christopher H nonchalantly came to the waiting area to get me looking like I just interrupted him. He did not speak nor introduce himself like all the other therapist had done in the past. Me being me I brushed it off and spoke to him first and was greeted back with a low forced "Hi". He looked like he was disappointed even agitated to say the least. Once we arrived to the massage room I introduce myself (thinking he would do the same) in return he still did not state his name. At one point I felt like we were in a staring contest. After just staring at me like I could read his mind. He murmured out "what are you here for" but in my head it seems like he really wanted to say "why did you choose me"! I told him what I wanted and he left the room so that I could change. I was thinking "Girl just leave this man do not want to touch you"! To my surprise the massage was really good. His hands were smooth and firm and the pressure was what I asked for. I have no complaints about that part. After the massage was over he did not say thank you or anything kind like have a good day. Unfortunately I was not greeted with a cup of water either. SO DISAPPOINTING!! However, I helped myself to a cup of water. After arriving back to the front desk where the receptionist was located, one of the ladies asked me how was my massage. I told her the massage was good but the therapist wasn't friendly at all. Her reply was that she was very shocked because he's usually chatty almost too chatty and very upbeat and super friendly. At that point I could not help but to think that it was the color of my skin! if that was the case THAT SUCKS he really should not be in this type of business let alone rubbing on someone's body and knowing he feels uncomfortable with black women. I believe he should have just canceled the session when he seen me instead of being rude!!! Jill, thank you for the response. The response sounded like "sorry, but.." Yes I arrived 5 min late but it isn't unreasonable to expect a 55min massage. If your intake process takes 5-10 minutes, that should not be taken away from my hands on time when you advertised a 60 minute massage not 60 minutes spent in your facility (I was not even there for 60 minutes btw) Also, during my massage it isn't unreasonable to expect consistency throughout when a discussion with the massage therapist was done prior and at the start of the massage. I shouldn't have to manage my massage experience during my time of silence and relaxation. Bottom line, I arrived at 835am, I was at your front desk to pay at 923am. I did not get a 55 min massage. I was a member for more than one year and didn't have any issue so far. Last week I got a last minute call to cancel my appointment due to therapist was not feeling good. They've re-scheduled for today and cancelled again since therapist called sick. This is a busy place and not very easy to schedule for the weekends. My little sister is a member at massage envy specifically at the rolling hills location, where you pay a discount monthly rate and your visits will roll over to the next month. Since she's had her baby, she doesn't come in as often and managed to work up a few credits for myself and my other sister. We called at 845pm the night before and nice lady booked us in for 3 last minute appts the next morning! This should've been the first red flag since massage places are typically booked a week out. We went to out appt and were assigned massage therapists. We got there about 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork. This included the pressure we wanted, focus areas, places on our body that are off limits, etc. after filling out the paperwork, we were ushered into our respective rooms. My therapists doesn't even review my 15 minutes of paperwork that I just did and asked me very similar questions. It felt like a waste of time. Why ask me to fill this out if I'm just going to repeat it. She leaves the room for maybe 2 minutes and knocks on the door where I barely undressed. I asked for another minute and she ends up coming in 5 mins later. My paperwork listed that my face was off limits, however, she would use her jazz fingers outlining my face. The paperwork also lists to focus on my back neck and shoulders, however she's working on my legs. When I mentioned that I'd like medium pressure, she decided to dig her elbow into my back. It felt as if she was trying to hurt me. You also hear her texting in her phone which was annoying. Needless to say, it was not a good experience. Also, when the massage was done, the therapist typically waits outside with water for you and she was nowhere to be found. Apparently, bedside manners are not practiced here. I voiced this to the manager and she offered me another free massage. I declined because I don't want another experience like this. I told my little sister and she INSISTED that I use her therapist because he was great! I also saw him give her a cup of water and talk to her about stretching. So I caved in. Mind you, I'm on vacation and didn't want to disrupt our plans because of my massage. So we rebook and they are available in a couple days. Usually I'm sore after a massage and even after a couple of days, I didn't feel any soreness. I seen both my sisters walk out feeling a sense of relief. So I'm excited for the new therapist, Gabriel. I didn't do the 15 minute paperwork this time, but the manager on duty just asked me this info. I made sure that the info I tell her should be addressed to my therapist. As I walk I to the room, he asks me "are you (my sister's name) mom?" Flabbergasted, I kindly told him I'm her older sister. What. The. F***? Even if I look her mom, you always ask if I look like her younger sister or something along the lines. This already pissed me off. I felt like the mess I complained about the first therapist got around so this was his dig at me. Although this was a little better, I still didn't get the relaxation from a massage that I normally would get. Of course, when the massage was over, Gabriel was no where to be found with a cup of water. Now it feels personal. I complained again to the other manager. She says that she wouldn't have booked the two therapists I was assigned and there are better. Why is it that they have them in payroll if they aren't great? Where are the beside manners? This is the most ridiculous experience I've ever had with massage, ever. I will not step foot in another massage envy because of this place. I've had someone give me a call as a third party and I just got tired of doing the same complaints because no one there seems to write notes or read notes on my profile. It seems that cancellations and reschedules are a common practice at this location. I was rescheduled last week for today...confirmed yesterday and walk in only to find out the therapist didn't show up so now it's cancelled. At that point I just refused to reschedule and give a third chance. If you don't want to waste your precious time I suggest you plan your day with any other massage place. read more

I would highly recommend the Massage Envy in Rolling Hills. I was greeted courteously by Enza this morning right before heading into my massage. She helped me get a gift card for my friend and she was very knowledgeable. They have a wall of really good skincare products and always have good specials going on. Get their lip scrub, it's delicious. Christopher H was my Massage therapist and he is the absolute best. I upgraded my original 60 minute massage to a 90 minute on the spot. He can give a really deep massage and always checks in to see how you're doing and what you need. He was very energetic and kind. I have loved the massages I've received at this Massage Envy so much that in July, when things were looking better re: COVID, I signed up for a membership. Today when I tweaked my back, I was thrilled that they were able to fit me in for a same-day appointment when someone cancelled. Unfortunately, they wouldn't tell me whether my masseuse was vaccinated. They said it violated HIPAA requirements to tell me.* I asked if they could have the masseuse call me to let me know if she was vaccinated, and they said she wouldn't call me. So I cancelled my appointment. I'm sad to say that I'm going to cancel my membership if I can't be guaranteed to have a masseuse who is vaccinated. I've been careful for 18 months now, and don't want to take on the extra risk of being in a small, enclosed space with an unvaccinated person. * According to the CDC, "The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) is a federal law that required the creation of national standards to protect sensitive patient health information from being disclosed without the patient's consent or knowledge." So letting me know if a masseuse, who is not a patient, is vaccinated, has nothing to do with HIPAA. It's their corporate decision. read more

Had a exceptional massage with Nancy! I fell asleep hard almost instantly. Her technique is top notch. The spa is clean, quiet, very zen...If I can provide any corrective feedback it is to use warm massage lotion/oil as cold product seems to awaken some people. The cold lotion on my back was like dropping an ice cube on a relaxed person. I almost flipped off of the bed. Lol A bottle warmer is my suggestion which is the same suggestion I provided 18 years ago to my obstetrician for her ultrasound gel, it worked and she thanked me. Try it, otherwise I can bring my own warm Keri lotion that can be mixed with tea tree oil making for a relaxing massage. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my massage and we will be back today for my daughter's facial. We like it brought to have two household memberships! I absolutely recommend this establishment! I was told by the front desk that the company prides itself on each massage therapist having their own style, but shouldn't that be advertised?? I had two massages in a row that were terrible, and supposedly "point" style. Let me tell you what they're selling for $120: the therapist will place their fingertip or elbow on one spot and hold it there with little to no pressure for five minutes. I laid there for 30 minutes to have someone point to my body. It felt like a prank. I was patient and asked for more pressure and if he was going to work on any muscles. But nothing. Giving two stars because I didn't pay for their services. The first time around they rescheduled me with someone phenomenal, but the second time they said it's really a matter of calling to get someone good. What. I am changing my rating as the service seems to have gotten worse. There are some masseuses who are still excellent; However, some are not listening to what the customer is asking for. I just got a massage whereby I could not sleep the entire night due to aggravated pain in my back. I had told this person to go gentle. Not only did they go harder, they cut short the minutes that I paid for. Same goes to the front desk. Most are nice but I do see that some are not as accommodating both in person and on the phone to someone like me who is not mainstream, let's say. Overall, I am okay going to this location but will not renew my membership. To be fair, in any business, there are people who love their job and some who don't. She was good but kept on mentioning how exhausted she is and what a hard job this is. I completely understand and can sympathize but it's really distracting to have such comments when you're there getting a massage. I understand that she has some sort of medical issue and hope she can sort that with management without needing to complain about it with clients. Small issue but somewhat detracts from the experience. I've since decided to get massages with Maria who is very good, attentive to my concerns and followed directions. Her massage was amazing. I went in to location because I was gracefully given a two hour free prenatal message from a family friend for a baby shower gift. I had a great experience for the most part, I booked my appointment over the phone and even called a day before to move my appointment time for an earlier slot which was not a problem at all the girl who picked up was super sweet and accommodated me with no problem at all. As far as the massage I had a great experience, I had my massage with Janel who was very sweet and had the perfect touched and addressed all my needs as far as areas I wanted rubbed out. She was great and I would recommend her to anyone. I just wished I was warned about the scalp message. I went in with clean hair because I had plans later on in the day and ended with oil all over my hair so I wish I would been more prepared or let her know I wanted to skip that part. The only feedback I have is that checking out I didn't appreciate how pushy the older lady in the front desk was about signing up for their membership. She asked me at first if I wanted to join and I kindly said thank you but not at this time. She then had the nerve to ask me the reason why I didn't want to join and I said scheduling reasons, she then continued to push the membership on me saying they had really flexible hours and gave me the most unpleasant look and attitude when I said no to her for the third time. I just think it's rude to push something on someone when they have already respectfully said no and I shouldn't have to provide an explanation on why I didn't want to join or have to be made guilty about it.
