I was traveling from out of state and was in desperate need of a massage. After calling a zillion places with no luck for an appointment, I decided to breakdown & call Massage Envy in Sandhill. I was extremely skeptical because of the reviews and I generally prefer non-chain businesses. I'm so glad I took the chance! Deja answered the phone and set up an appointment for me for the same day. She has great customer service skills and explained the policy of "no cancellation" since it was scheduled same day. She offered me the new customer special. She greeted me when I arrived and then went over my request/needs for massage. My massage therapist, Darla, was a darling! She made me feel comfortable and adjusted pressure to my liking. She was able to work in my feet to relieve the pain from my plantar fasciitis. What a pro! I always take reviews with a grain of salt and I'm so happy (and relieved!) I ended up at Massage Envy. I tried to cancel in person but they said I had to speak with manager Shanika who is never there (she was supposed to be there today at 2 pm, it's 2:20 and they said she still is not there and doesn't know when she will be there. We have played phone tag for over a week and now Tiffany says to just come in and do it in person but I only have until 3 pm like I don't have my own full time job and schedule. It's ridiculous. Now I have the same Massage Therapist, Jordana, who has been fantastic. She is versatile, so she doesn't just assume you want the same focus each time. I don't mind if people make mistakes because we are all human. These people NEVER apologize. It is absolutely unprofessional. A few years ago a lady raised her voice to me on the phone. I did not have any deal or coupon. I just called to schedule a full price massage. She put me on hold, then came back and said, "If you didn't buy your coupon here you cannot use it here!! I explained that I didn't have one. She never apologized. I gave them another chance 2 years later. I drove from Rock Hill and had to drain my abdomen because I am a dialysis patient. Went through a lot. They did not have me on their schedule. There were 4 people behind the desk and NOT one of them offered an apology. Jarvis was very professional, competent and caring. I had a wonderful massage today at Massage Envy. Jarvis worked on my sore, achy back and legs due to years of ongoing sciatic pain. Poor customer service! I scheduled a facial and 90-minute massage. My appointments were canceled because someone called in to cancel THEIR appointment due to Covid exposure. I didn't find out until the day of my appointment that the error had been made. I could have been more understanding of the mistake, but what has pissed me off is that I requested management call me about this weeks ago and no one has. If I had canceled 2 appointments the day of service, I would have lost membership credits for both. I expected to be compensated for my time in some way and this location fell very flat. One lady at the front desk tried to tell me I didn't lose anything... Um, except the 2.5 hours I took to schedule this in the middle of the day because that's the only time my therapist was available. I have been a member of various ME locations for 10+ years and never have I ever had someone cancel my appointment and then tell me I was crazy for the inconvenience they caused me. Larrae is one the best therapist I've ever had, especially at a Massage Envy. I wish she'd find another location to work out of. This is not the best ME location. The staff is hot and cold - some days they are professional and pleasant, some days I wonder if they have any will to live. Calling this location is also annoying...half the time they do not answer. However, there are several good massage therapists there and overall I can ignore the bad days the rest of the staff seem to have for the price I pay for a good massage, when I get a good therapist. This place is a scam. Be very aware of your contract. Once your contract ends they will automatically renew it. They will not give you a courtesy call to ask you or let you know if you would like to to continue or cancel. In order for me to cancel because I no longer live in SC I had to print the cancellation form that they had to email me. Scan and send it back. Not a very convenient process. The manager Mia was very rude. On October 5 I asked to speak with the owner or someone over her and after 7 days I received this message. Im not sure who this is because it was not stated in the email. I received your message concerning your account and attempted to give you a call today. Attached is the cancellation request form. If you can fill out Sections 1&2 we can begin taking the proper steps to process the cancellation of your Wellness Agreement. My experience with Massage Envy Sandhills Columbia, SC and Lexington, SC was totally unprofessional. Even after they tried to resolve. Read below. Beware of their practices and customer services. My first appt. they had me sit in lobby for 30 mins while they help other customers. Then pull me back and informed me that hour massage has been cut to 30 mins. I requested to reschedule and I was told there will be a fee. We spoke with manager the next business day who said they can reschedule. On the rescheduled visit. I received a call that appt.l need to be rescheduled due to staffing. I was fine with that. Then 30 mins later I receive a voice mail with front office staff talking among themselves about me and my husband that we are trash and do not deserve their services. I then called back and spoke with manager and let him listen to message. He was totally upset and stated he will get back with me. Then I received call from a district manager who made excuses for her staff even after she heard the complete voice mail. This was a gift from my husband and I informed her I do not feel comfortable going to Sandhills facility. She recommended I go to Lexington. I agreed. Then at Lexington I asked for a deep tissue massage but therapist stayed she could not do it. She thought It was in my best interest not to have one. So she just did a regular massage. After the massage she stated I was nice and she was not sure why I was labeled a mean customer. I was shocked to hear that I was being discussed from the Sandhills facility. When you get that feeling you know the feeling I'm talking about. How could a company treat a customer this way. Then I was told I would get an email for a survey still have not received. Shocking. They did not want me to let people know. But I feel everyone should know. Wow someone responded. Actually you used the gift card from my husband and added 30 mins to what was already purchased. Please address your customer service not who paid for it. Thanks for the extra 30 mins. But your staff discussing me took the feeling from the massage away. Apologized. Don't make excuses. I am giving a 2 rating because the massage therapist, Darrell, was amazing. But once I decided I did not want to renew my membership, I was then notified that I could not use the sessions that I had already paid for unless I renewed it. How a business can justify not allowing you to use what you have already paid for because you no longer want to renew your membership is beyond me but it definitely solidified my decision to not go back there. Everyone claimed that their hands were tied but that is a bunch of crap to get you to pay for another month. If you go there stay away from the membership contract IT'S A SCAM!!! read more

I serviced Sandhills location for 1year I paid for my family member and myself 1year contract with monthly withdrawals. COVID came services were put on hold and pushed my 1year out further. At the end of year I decided to cancel services with actually masseuse were great my problem is after one year I put in paperwork to cancel about 5 days from what would have been the 13 month, they told me the accountant had 10days to process and another payment could or couldn't come out my account, well they decided to process on the next 13th payment and it didn't go through I had stopped my card, they then held hostage my paid for but unused services about 7 hrs between both myself and my family member. I was told my account was now on hold because I for filled my year contract, but they needed to take another 65 per person because I was told my auto payment could possibly have come out within the 10days. I am just disgusted they would hold my paid services hostage. I paid for family member to get account off hold 65.00, but decided I was unsure if I wanted them to have another 65.00 do you know they used that credit card info and withdrew another 65.00 from my account. I know times are hard, but I don't like the idea of being bullied into a service that I respectfully paid for 1 year and had a credit they held hostage. Now I'm not sure if they will take another 65.00 out this month. Thanks for the response, but I already addressed my concerns. They sent me a letter saying I was obligated to pay now 65.00 for a 13th month and I had 10 days to respond. Before the 10 days were up they took it upon themselves to run my credit card again so they got the additional 65.00 I was bullied into paying and I would hope took the hold off my account to release my prepaid services and add the additional they took and processed my cancellation because they clearly didn't process it when requested and it should begin on the last withdrawal. read more

I had a membership a while back but decided to leave because my favorite massage therapist left. Well Byron is back and is awesome! Perfect pressure and transfer of energy. I was in a lot of pain from daily work outs and he was able to loosen my muscle pain and help me to unwind. The hour and a half was more then enough time for him to target my sore muscles. I am more then impressed with the service and the ladies at the front desk who greeted me and were kind and not pushy with offering addition services. read more

At one point I would have given the business 5 stars, but in the last couple of months it has gone down hill. The receptionists are very rude. And they have issues with booking appointments. I always schedule my next appointment when I am there. Even when I enter everything into my phone, save, and verify with the receptionist there is always a problem when the appointment rolls around. First thing that indicated that there might be an issue was being informed that of the 60 minutes we paid for, 10 min was for dressing and undressing and we would only get 50 min. "hands on" work. Fine, but with clocks in the room and a wife that wasn't pleased with the policy to begin with, she timed it and we were shorted almost 10min. Full body massage was not even close to full body. My wife specifically asked for "Swedish" massage and what she got was, well we don't know what it was but it was not a relaxing Swedish massage. My massage was about the same, with more of a reflexology approach instead of a Swedish relaxation massage. I think it is very unfair of the two previous reviewers to trash this business. If Adam cancelled his appointment at the last minute a fee should be charged. The massage therapist could probably not get another client in at the last minute, therefore, he still had to be paid and this business lost money. As to the other reviewer who stated that the massages were terrible, I tend to disagree. Just like people some massage therapists are good and some not so good. I have been going to Massage Envy for the past couple of years and Terrence and Marcus are the best massage therapists I have ever experienced. They are professional and cater to your needs. The owner, Dwayne, and his staff are very accomodating to ensure that their clients are satisfied. I have been having massages for years as I am a runner and have a very active lifestyle.
