Had a gift card for my birthday, and as this place is a chain I wasn't expecting anything that exciting. From the time I walked in the door I was made to feel welcome and asked to fill out a survey. The lady up front really took time to Explain things to me well. My massage therapist Kenny (spelling?) was one of the nicest people I have ever met, she listened to where my problem areas were and offered her two cents about what she thought might be going on. She asked me what areas I was comfortable having worked on also, which no other therapist has ever asked me. She actually spent the first half of the session working knots out of my calf muscles; a place I didn't even KNOW I had knots! She also did shoulder work that felt awesome... She's really aware of the places in your body you're holding tension. She even gave me stretches to do at home to loosen up my hips. No one ever asked me to sign up for a membership but I did just so I can continue working with Kenny! read more

Scheduling is a nightmare! I've been a member for over a year and I have a ton of credits built up because there is never a therapist available when I am! I also have had multiple cancellations on the part of the therapists, including last December when I wasn't notified at all until I walked in (it was my graduation day!). Today I got ANOTHER call that my therapist had called off. I had planned a 90 minute massage with a female therapist. My only options to reschedule today were a male or a 60 minute massage later in the day. I have already scheduled my work day... shouldn't there be an "on call" system?? I work in the mental health field and really take my self-care seriously so that I can help others - but if scheduling and rescheduling my massage appointments are the most stressful part of my day I'm beginning to think it's not worth it! read more

On Wednesday my boyfriend called and set up a very last minute appointment for me to get a massage. They were very accommodating and let him pay over the phone and give the tip over the phone as well. This was the first time I had been to the Squirrel Hill location but my fourth time at a massage envy. They had just remodeled and it look fantastic. The moment I walked in Paul helped me out. He was sweet, personable and made me feel like a special client. He talked about my therapist, the paper work and the remodeling with clarity and knowledge. I had Brad as my therapist and I couldn't say enough good things. He was by far the best massage therapist I've ever had. If you are going to go to a chain massage place, then you need to know which therapists are best. I highly recommend James or Ben. They are wonderful--super professional and very good at what they do! Sign up for a monthly membership at your own risk! Not only is there no way out of it other then moving miles from civilization how they communicate their "credit" system is terrible. I consider how they conducted their contracts as predatory. Upon notifying them that I would be canceling my membership the manager became very dismissive. I ended up spending more money then I would have liked due to the staff's inability to communicate effectively the end terms of this agreement. I will never return to this franchise as I feel they milked me for every extra cent and kept things hard to understand and murky on purpose! Beware they will take you for every penny they can. I get massage religiously twice a month and he is by far my #1 choice. He is very attentive to your needs and can do deep tissue massage. I have a membership and hate it. They never have appointments available unless you book weeks in advance. If you have a busy schedule and typically only have a few days notice this place is not for you. When you sign up they will tell you they are only busy on weekends or certain months. Don't believe it. They rarely have appointments. Only join if you can plan well in advance. read more

Staff at desk does great job. Hit or miss on therapists - too bad this chain doesn't treat its employees better and do a better job of recruiting and retaining good therapists. The massage therapy schools in Pittsburgh area are really sketchy too, so your best hope is someone trained in a larger city at a better school. read more

If the massage is 50 minutes then why does the sign say 1-hour massage? Mine wasn't even 50 mins. It was less. The massage was good, but short. The massage tx came out to get me 3 minutes late, wasted 8 minutes for me to get undressed which was done in 10 seconds, then she ended 2 minutes early. I timed it because it happened the first time too. This was my second and last massage at this place. I don't get the review that says this place is cheap- it's not. The so-called one hour massage that lasted 45 minutes was$78- that's not cheap. It such a quickie. I could tell she was in a big hurry. Never again. read more

I decided to go to Massage Envy in hopes of relieving my horrible migraine headaches. I will start by saying that the therapist I had (can't remember the name) was wonderful and really was able to address my needs. What turned me against the experience was the employees who were working at the front desk when I came in. They were all looking down at their cell phones, gave me short answers and did not really seem to care at all that I was standing right in front of them. They all looked miserable and as if they just rolled out of bed. The worst part was the supposed "manager" (I believed her name was Roejella or something) smelled of cigarettes and BO and had snot dripping from her nose. I'm not trying to be rude, but they need to work on the appearance of the workers who are representing the brand. If you are looking for a good massage, but to be treated like a speck of dirt by the front desk staff... then this is the place for you. read more
