Sonja was AMAZING! She gave me the best, deepest massage I have ever had. I did research and went to the Lawrenceville location because it has the best reviews -- and I am so glad I did. I came from Alpharetta and the locations I have been to around here are all terrible. THIS IS WORTH THE DRIVE!! Sonja was soooo knowledgeable about the human body and how all of our muscle groups are connected. She was very intuitive and knew EXACTLY where my problem areas and sweet spots were. I endured the pain of the deep tissue digs because I knew I needed it. She was so thorough and dedicated to make my massage worth it - it was customized and personalized to my problem areas and issues. I have never had another Massage Envy therapist do that - they usually don't listen and all the massages are exactly the same and not personalized at all.... Not to mention, Sonja's bedside manner was awesome. She is super chill and made me feel so comfortable from the second I walked in to when I left. She communicated with me during the massage to make sure I was comfortable and getting what I wanted. She even helped me make sense of my sciatic nerve pain by introducing me to a muscle syndrome I might have. She also informed me of the curvature of my spine and how it can affect tightness, pain, stiffness, etc. in my body. I felt so taken care of. There have been several changes since I last visited. No more $10 product fee for facials. New services include men facials, back facials, and many more. Murad products are still here for all facial services. The place has been renovated and refreshed at this location to support the new logo and brand look. New sofas in the waiting rooms, new paint, new signage and definitely a huge new display area to make one last purchase before you leave. Very nice job! The only reason I am giving this 2 stars is some of the therapists I have had over the years are 5 star therapists (and some have been 2 star). My favorite therapist left a couple years ago and it has not been the same. My desire to leave one star stems from the fact that the manager chose not to leave an additional month off during the Covid outbreak (and I had been a customer since 2010). If you look at other comments you will see this is a resounding theme. The attitude was pretentious and rude, and rather than bite the bullet with an additional month (despite the fact that I was already not so happy with them due to the number of credits I had), he held firm. Other companies have been really good about working with people due to Covid, but not so for the ME location. Good riddance because I am happy to take my money elsewhere. read more

Updating my review! I had a one-star experience this weekend, but because my facial was good, as always, I'll bump it up one star. I like this location as noted in my previous review and the front desk is always great. However, upon check out, I feel like I was given the cold shoulder. I'm checking out and the young lady at the front desk is running my card and printing out the receipt. Meanwhile, right in front of her, I am clearly exasperated as I am trying to remove the headband they use during the facial and my hair was all stuck in the velcro. While I'm doing this she is asking me to sign the receipt, instead of offering to help or apologizing that my hair got wrapped up in their stupid headband. I just ignored her and made her wait while I unwrapped my hair. If I would have said something it would have been rude, so I chose not to say anything. I just ignored her while she pretended not to see my struggling. It was a small, but extremely rude gesture. Maybe I was treated this way because it was my last service in the contract and I decided not to renew, but I don't know. Anyway, this is the 2nd time this has happened to me with this headband. Usually, I tell the esthetician to be careful putting it on and that avoids the situation, this time I didn't and of course my hair was caught up in the velcro, luckily it didn't break off like the first time. I would suggest different headbands or reminding the estheticians to be careful placing it on clients especially those with coarse or curly hair. Sadly, after over a year, I've cancelled my membership. My masseuse was fabulous, but the place has gone downhill. Constant changes of front staff and massage therapists, constant attempts to upsell are off-putting. And then they started using disposable face guards--that were itchy and scratchy. They used to be cotton, but the disposable ones are awful. The massage therapists are not getting paid even a third of what the client pays for a massage, so this is just more corporate greed...giving the client less and less for the same money. Bottom line...if you want to be viewed as a good company, you have to take much better care of your employees and your clients. They are losing many clients, and can't seem to figure out why. Treat your clients like they matter, treat your employees why they matter and your company will thrive. read more

Massage envy is a hit or miss. I used to be a member a few years back and I loved it! That is, after I actually found a therapist that I liked(it took about 6 sessions to actually find one). Maybe I'm just super picky, but how hard is it to listen to your client's needs and focus on their problem areas? I mean, I pay good money for these massages! After a HORRIBLE week at work, my wonderful fiance treated me to an hour massage here in hopes of starting off my weekend right. I called right after I got off work today and was able to schedule an appt for the same day. Yay! I showed up at 6:45 for my 7:00 appt and was immediately brought back to their "quite room." My massage therapist came out and got me at 7:02 and brought me back to my room. After voicing to her my concerns and telling her what kind of pressure I liked, she gave me a few minutes to get undressed. I have a mild case of scoliosis so my left shoulder sits a little higher than my right and is always tensed up. So whenever I get a massage, I stress to my therapist that I need that area really worked on. In the beginning of my massage, it seemed that my therapist really listened to my concerns. That lasted for about 5 minutes. The massage started off decent then just went downhill, (just like my week at work!). She didn't even massage me for the full 50 minutes either! My massage started at 7:08 and ended at 7:55. $78 for a "meh" 47 minute massage. BOO! I had considered re-joining massage envy, but after this last massage, it's highly unlikely that I'll be back! Note-They've upped their prices. It used to cost $49/month to be a member. Now it's $59/month. read more

After a year of pre-med fun, I decided I need to treat myself and treat myself regularly. So I signed up for a 1-year membership. I'm happy with it overall. It's a good place to start for someone who wants to get a massage without spending $100+/hr. The best thing about Massage Envy-- besides the price-- is that there are so many locations. I've been to 4 different locations (1 in Pennsylvania, 3 in Georgia), and the quality does vary but not too much. I went into this particular location on Thursday morning. I made an appointment a few days before going in, and they called the day before to confirm. I checked in and waited for a minute in the simply-decorated reception area until the massage therapist came out and introduced herself. She asked whether I was comfortable with certain body parts (e.g. face, chest, glute). I was then led me into a dimly lit hallway with private rooms on either side. She stepped out for a minute so I could get undress down to whatever I was comfortable with. And then began the massage! It was a 1-hour massage. I guess it was Swedish- I usually just ask the massage therapist to use firm pressure and focus on my upper back. And she did just that. I thought the place was pretty empty, but during the session, I could hear some noises outside, over the "calming" music. Oh well. The key, I think, is to speak up. I know sometimes you don't know what you want, or you just want to lie there and not think. But make sure to say something if the pressure, temperature, whatever could be improved. Updating my review based on my appointment today. I did not plan to return to this location after a bad experience a couple years ago but a coworker gave me 3 months of massages or facials for free and this is the closest one. When I called to schedule the appointment, Erica answered the phone and was extremely helpful helping me understand my credits and getting them transferred to my profile here. When I arrived for a 12pm appointment four beautiful young ladies with big, bright smiles cheerily greeted me and got me checked in. This was already a complete turnaround from my last experience here! My therapist was Lashika and I'll admit I was worried when she came out to get me. I'm not the kinda girl to get a massage for sheer pleasure and relaxation...I'm looking for RESULTS. I need FIRM pressure for a productive massage and I was scared this tiny woman wouldn't be able to deliver. Boy, was I wrong?!? She reviewed my paperwork and asked what I needed the most. I explained to her that I have knots in my neck and shoulders that cause pain and tension headaches. That was all she needed. She immediately initiated a "search and destroy" mission on the knots. I started to feel relief while I was laying there! Her pressure was firm and consistent but she was still savvy enough to lighten the pressure in sensitive spots. She even threw in a little neck stretching that felt amazing! The result was one of the BEST massages I've ever had. The tension is gone and for the first time in 3 days, I don't have a headache. Thank you Lashika!!! I don't know if the place is under new management or have new staff or just got their lives in order. Scheduled a massage through their app. Got to the appointment and was told the massage therapist didn't show up today. Said they left a voice mail (didn't see it, was working missed the call). Annoying, but then I go into the app and this same massage therapist has an opening in 2 hours. Their scheduling system is seriously a mess. Wasted a ton of my time on a gross rainy day. I feel like they should have been able to credit me *something* because you know they would have charged me if I was the one who was a no show. read more

I was a long time member, for over 10 + years at this location and I felt it was important to share experience with not just this location but with this franchise all together.... Over the last few 5 years my activity declined considerably due to health issues. The membership is designed to charge monthly regardless of use, and I continued to accumulate an alarming # of services. You can you freeze your membership for a short period, but charging you half of your membership fee and during that time you are not accumulating anything with that fee. Once my freeze ended, I wanted to share some services with my family and friends. After all, I paid them. But, if you transfer a service, which can only be used for a massage, you have to pay a fee. Most Gym memberships allow you to always bring a guest for FREE. It's ridiculous all the FEES that are charged. This year with Covid made my circumstance even more difficult. I lost my job for a period of time, the location was closed for a period. They did not charge membership for a few months during closing. But, when they reopened - there was absolutely no email communication to their members that they reopened and it was limited staff. I found out by getting charged the membership fee. Very poor communication. Most other services that closed were very communicative along the way with their customers / members. I decided to finally cancel the service having over 20 sessions accumulated. After a great deal of hassle with management along the way, they finally agreed to cancel my service and give me a few months to use all the remaining 20 + services. Unfortunately, during the time I contracted Covid and lost my job. So for much of that period I could not go because I was very sick and due quarantine rules. when felt better I couldn't afford to pay this due to losing my job. When I got better and got a job I called them up explain asked for consideration of more time to use the 20+ services I paid for, which = over $1,000. Management authorized a 2 week extension. I attempted to book as many appointments as their and my schedule allowed, but most were during the week and I recently got a new job. It became a very stressful process. The two weeks was an impossible time frame to use up over 20 + services and they knew this. I will never return back to this location or suggest the Massage Envy franchise to any of my friends of family. This is a service that promotes health & wellness. During a year of unprecedented times - this company did NOT adjust their membership rules to accommodate unexpected circumstances members faced - COVID and job loss. For over 10 years I paid my membership monthly religiously without any issues. They always got my $ money. They often billed me incorrectly - so I had to deal with those hassles. When a crisis hits this world, this company lacks compassion and basic customer service decency. The service desk ladies are very friendly and kind. You can't tell they are frustrated with the inflexibility of rules and get complaints from customers constantly. But, the managers at this location do very little and are purposely not accessible to help. It took a lot of follow up calls on my part chasing the managers down to talk to them. They were rarely at the location - I always got the excuse they stepped out. They didn't return calls or emails in a prompt manner. For these reasons I provided a 1 star ratting... 12/5 ... this is in response to the comment provided today by Massage Envy. Sadly, Your reply proves my point in my #1 star for the location and the franchise. You show no empathy for my issues and provide no real help. If you read my full review, you would see I already tried working with the location managers, hence my #1 STAR. Corporate really needs to get involved and deal with this. I really have enjoyed going here over the last few years. The front staff are all very welcoming and always remember what my needs are before I know what I need. Jasmine is simply the best massage therapist l have ever had. His is very professional and gives me an incredible stretch and massage and I literately walk like a new person when I leave. I have greatly improved and reduced my stress level and flexibility since he first started working on me. I wasn't sure I would benefit as much as I have when I first started coming here but now I couldn't imagine not having a great massage and incredible stretch every month. Everyone up front from the owner on down has been very accommodating and friendly and I feel very welcome here. Thanks to Nicole and everyone for going the extra mile and reminding me about my appointments. Everyone has been so kind and generous about everything. This location has more restrictive rules. I'd say read the contract, but they can change it at anytime and STILL charge you. They just went up $10 more a month and you're stuck if you have a contract. You have one session to use each month. If you can't use it (an illness, issues with childcare, or COVID, etc.) you STILL accrue the session to use at a later date, but then you just have more sessions to burn through. They used to offer a freeze option (for a fee), that other locations DO offer, to stop monthly charges and use sessions to catch up. This location dropped the freeze option with no notice. Their lack of customer service warrants a low rating. Investigate what the freeze rules are before you sign on with any of the ME locations, but beware, they can change the rules at anytime and you're stuck. read more

Just canceled my membership TODAY due to unauthorized charges on my credit card by Massage Envy. My last appointment was early November in which the visit was paid for that day. Low and behold, this morning (11/21/21) I get an alert that Massage Envy had charged my Capital One card $65 for a service that I did not even have. My next appointment isn't until 12/13/21, so why is my card being charged prematurely. When I questioned the front desk attendant, it appeared like she was speaking out of both sides of her mouth anything that she thought I would buy. Wish I had read these reviews before signing up for a special promotion membership back in the summer whereby I was to only pay a $55 fee for a 60-minute session each month. The manager/staff swears I misunderstood the promotion even though when I book a session on line, the booking says $55 to be paid in the CENTER AND NOT CHARGED TO CARD before a service is ever rendered AND TACK ON AN EXTRA $10. Also dissatisfied that during the first 2 sessions, I always paid AFTER service was rendered. Then I took my 3rd COVID booster shot, was feeling not so great and called to reschedule. From that point on, Massage Envy -Sugarloaf has been charging my credit card at will when they want to. This is going to be a HUGE problem for me; so buyers beware! read more

The massuese seemed amateur! He spoke a LOT about what could or should be done, but did nothing! My massage started late and ended early! It was just not good! I have had very good and relaxing massages and a facial. They are very attentive to your requests. My only complaint was when my year contract was over, I didn't realize (or remember) that the contract continues unless you go into the salon and cancel the contract. Then you have 60 days to use all unused sessions. I feel Massage Envy should contact their customers as a curtosy that their contract is about to renew. It is hard to remember these things for a year. As for the lady who said she had not been there for months, that is not the fault of Massage Envy. I have gotten caught up with other things in life and skipped a lot of months myself. Due to financial reasons, I cannot continue my contract. I have been a member for several years, starting at the Mall of Georgia location. As other reviews have stated, you do have to shop around to find a therapists that you like. However, once you do, make sure you request them and be sure to tip well. This particular location has a therapists named Rose who has always done a fantastic job. I visit at least once a month and many times twice. She does indeed listen to what I am after, makes suggestions based upon what she found and in general actually does enjoy her job and care about her clients. I would give it a five star, but had a bad experience today. This is my second time coming i had a 120 min message, and it was my birthday so they told me i get two free add on which i got aromatherapy, and a foot treatment. The lady was done at 450pm when she were supposed to be done at 5pm, then i told the receptionist i didn't get my foot treatment. I had to pay $40, and the least they could have done was have me pay half price for the inconvenience and apologized.
