So on tuesday i hurt my lower back trying to lift up a patient in bed (sighs). I tried everything from stretches to heating pads.. but no relief. I decided to try a deep tissue massage to see if it will save me a trip to my primary care physician. Went in on a rain friday and was greated by my massage therapist Naya. The place is nice and relaxing and most importantly....clean. Throughtout my massage, i admit it did hurt and i did hold my tears in but Naya would ask me if the pressure was ok and i would say yes cuz really i want her to go elbows in and get rid of all my tension! When the massage finished and it was time to change to my clothes... i got up with ease..i can bend now? where did my back pain go? Omg this is @$%#@$^ amazing!!! I spent the whole day running errands, cleaning blah blah blah. And still no back pain. I woke up this morning feeling great and i just had to write this review. Horrible. Horrible. Horrible. Where to begin, asked for a deep tissue massage, I MAY have gotten a pressure point? If you would even call it that. I asked three times for more pressure, nothing changed. I finally after he started slapping lotion on my arm told him to stop. I've had about 100 massages in my lifetime which says a lot, I love them. And this is by far the worst, I have never stopped a massage in session, that's how horrible this was. Keep your money. unfortunately I booked a 90 minute couples massage for my boyfriend's Birthday. The appointment was for 4PM. We arrived to a locked door, called and were advised that someone would soon come open the door. we waited outside for 7 minutes until a woman opened the door to let us know that they were unable to take us because they had a 5PM And we're booked back to back. I told her that made no sense as we booked a 90 minute massage and that would mean they double booked an appointment or were understaffed but she insisted that I didn't answer the phone when they attempted to call me. Not only did I not receive a call, I also did not receive any emails rescheduling or cancelling my appointment. I want to like this place, because of the convenient location and the availability short notice. However, they need to learn to pace themselves with the time. What I mean is, I got a full body and did not get a full body, because they said, time was up. So, I felt good and incomplete. read more

My massage was out of this world. I believe my masseuse was Mike and he was patient and was able to keep me relaxed while working my tight scapula muscle. The atmosphere is beautiful and the experience is exemplified with the front staff customer service. Only negative I have is that the walls are so thin that u can hear conversations in the room next to you. This doesn't help the relaxation but is feasible. I can't wait to go again! read more

I came here a few weeks ago because I wanted a massage and didn't feel like going to my usual spot for an appointment. This place is very clean and has a nice relaxing atmosphere. I appreciated that no one was trying to push me into signing up for a membership or anything else that would mess up my flow of relaxation. I arrived 10 minutes early and filled out some paperwork and was immediately led back to the room to undress. I have a pretty sedentary job and I carry my stress in my shoulders so my therapist Sam had his work cut out for him! He did a wonderful job and I left feeling noticeably relaxed and even a bit sore (not pain just tender) the next day! This is a nice alternative to some of the larger chain massage places and its nice because its perfectly located in the middle of Shirlington Village. I will 100% come back here again! read more

I had never been here before but it was the best massage I have had in a long time. I made a last minute appointment and am glad I did. I felt so much better afterwards. I got a Swedish massage (there is a special going on this month) and Sam did a great job. I enjoyed the touch of the warm towels after each section was massaged. I will go back! If you're looking for a DEEP tissue massage, you'll get it here. Yes, it's painful, but it's so worth it. I love that you can book for same day online and the prices are competitive. I'm giving it 4 stars because I think the 10 minute consult and 50 minute massage when you pay for 60 minutes is kind of a scam because it's literally used for you changing and getting under the sheets and I was a little uncomfortable with the no sheet glute massage by a male masseuse, although he did ask if it was ok. It just was that the hands got a little too close at times for comfort. So just be aware of that going in. It did help with my sciatic pain. It's not fancy, but I've recommended this place to others who need a same day pain management solution. read more

I get frequent massages and I was very excited to see whether this new Shirlington addition would past the test. I've had 5 massages and my husband has had 3 and we both have found all our treatments excellent. I've looked over other reviews here and I agree that the walls are thin and sometimes you can hear noise from the hallways. Also on one occasion my massage started late, although it did last for the entire hour. However, the consistently good massages I've received and the reasonable prices outweigh those cons for me. I've had three different masseurs and all were good, although Emma is my current favorite. If you're on the fence whether to try this place, due to the couple of negative reviews you have read here, I'd say try it for yourself. It seems every month they are running awesome deals so you're paying less than you probably would elsewhere. I hope it does well in this location and stays a long time because I believe I have found my new massage home. read more

My therapist didn't speak English so it was hard to communicate about what I liked, didn't like. The room was too bright. I had to ask for a towel to cover my eyes half way through. The prenatal massage is done by having you lay on your side with a pillow between your legs. Then you switch sides. Blankets weren't thick enough. There is no mirror in the massage room. You receive a head massage with oil but then can't fix your hair before you leave the room. read more

I booked a 90 minute swedish massage for my birthday hoping to relax. It was anything but relaxing. It was the most painful massage I have ever had! I kept thinking to myself I must have accidentally booked a deep tissue. I even asked when I left if I got a deep tissue and the girl checking me out said no it was swedish. I should have said something during it but I was hoping that Mary could read my body language. I just kept thinking it would get to the more relaxing part soon. It never did.....and to top it off instead of ending with a nice scalp massage it ended with her pounding on the top of my head. I dont know what kind of ritual that is but at that point I had to stop myself from laughing out loud because the entire experience was unbelievable. read more

I used to be a massage therapist and can honestly say Holly is the best I have had in a very long time. She takes special care to work the areas you may have tension or issues with and is skilled at pressure points and working the designated ligaments and muscles. My massage with Sam had left bruises on my body and I've been in pain since. I should've stopped him and left instead of saying ouch and clinching my teeth, hoping he would stop using his elbows against my spine. This massage was done with poor medical knowledge and techniques that can really hurt people. I wouldn't recommend this even if you have to wait to get a massage at another place. read more

Had a great experience here! It was my first massage ever, so I don't really have anything to compare it to. My boyfriend and I went in for a one-hour couples massage. As soon as we entered we were warmly greeted by a woman at the front desk. We filled out a one page (front and back) sheet. As soon as we finished with the paperwork out masseuses met us and took us back to the room. It was a lovely atmosphere with calming music. The room was warm and the massage tables were heated. My masseuse was gentle yet firm and seemed to hit every place I needed rubbed out. He was very conscious of making sure I felt comfortable and making sure a sheet covered me at all times. When the massage was done, we walked out of the room and were given cups of water with a cucumber in it. The woman at the front desk never asked for us to leave a tip, but I asked if I could since I had a great experience. I can't wait to come here again! read more

I came in for a 30 minute foot massage just to check the place out. Im very familiar with massage, so I know better than to dive in and waste my money or the therapists time. If it was an hour long session I would've ended it early anyway. He knew what spots to hit but put forth barely any effort. He didn't ask me my pressure preference and ignored when I asked for stronger pressure. I couldve rubbed my own feet and saved the 40$ plus the money I tipped. The place looked clean but smelled like when you leave a mop out for days. The sheets on my bed were damp from the previous massage, and the fact they hadnt been changed made it extremely hard to relax, and I couldn't wait to get home and shower. When he used the hot rag on my feet at the end, he didnt wait a second or make sure it wasnt too hot and now i have a burn blister on my leg. The waiting area is super small so even just walking in starts off hectic and you just hope they get you back quick. Definitely won't be returning! read more

Most disorganized massage shop I've been to. Made an appointment in person but the receptionist only took down my name on sticky note, and when I came back at the appointed time (5 min early) she said, "Oh... it's going to be a wait." I asked how long and she said "Maybe 10 minutes." Well, I thought that's doable. Another client was also waiting and I asked if she was told there would be a wait and she said yes, but then they kept telling her it would just be a little longer. But then 10 min stretched to 15 min, then 20 min and when I asked when I was going to be seen she said, "Maybe 20 minutes?" So 40 min late? I walked out. This was my first visit to Massage Forever a new business in Shirlington that occupies the spaces once occupied by Cake Love and a women's clothing store. I opted for the Swedish massage with Holly and she was fantastic. I told her my trouble spots and we concentrated on those. She started out doing accupressure on my trouble spots and then moved on to the massage. I couldn't have asked for a better massage. I felt like jello I was so relaxed. On my way out I made another appointment in three weeks. Can't wait. The facility itself is spotless and clean. read more
