I was definitely overdue for a massage when I first tried this MassageLuxe location. It is very convenient and has plenty of free parking right outside. Everyone was friendly. After check-in, you are first taken back to their relaxation waiting room with chairs, water and hot tea. Then, you are brought back to the treatment room by your therapist. Everything was clean and no strong scents (those are migraine triggers for me). I wanted a female massage therapist who could do deep tissue. Lindsay was recommended. She listened carefully to what I told her (what I did and did not want), and she gave me exactly the massage I needed in a relaxing environment. I will definitely return again soon! read more

I'm so surprised to see the bad reviews here. My husband and I have had a family membership here for about two years and we both go monthly. Brian does my massages and he is great. Super professional and great at his Job. I do book a month or more in advance to make sure my busy schedule can align with his openings. I love that I can get a massage on a week night when it's most convenient for me (after 6:30 pm). The facials are also another great option. Yes, there is dress down and redressing times for any service, but this still ensures that your hour booking allows for ~50 minutes of services. Also, don't know if this was just this place but you only have a sheet, no blanket or bed warmer. It was extremely cold. The front staff asked how the massage went and I told them it wasn't good. If I could give zero stars I would. I received a facial and massage and it was probably one of the worst experiences of my life. Tiffany is not certified to massage anyone. She spent more time on my arms/hands then she did on my back/shoulders. I asked for medium to firm pressure and she did very light pressure. I don't consider someone pulling my toes a foot massage either. It was not a very relaxing time when the phones are constantly ringing in the lobby, also I don't think it is relaxing when your masseuse is slurping her drink while giving you a massage. Why pay for an hour massage when you really only get 40-45 minutes of someone lightly rubbing your back. The facial wasn't much better. It is a very weird feeling someone rubbing your face with rubber gloves on. I personally didn't find it relaxing, but someone else might not care. I think my 3 step MaryKay skin care routine was better than my "hour" long facial. As a customer I don't particularly want to walk out of the building still having chunks of the mask still on my face. Do a better job at cleaning your clients face. I worked at this establishment as a Lead Esthetician & Assistant Spa Manager. One day at work, I was assisting a client when I was surrounded with a small army of police officers armed with rifles and holding shields as if it were a protest or something. Alarmed, I asked what this was about and I was then fired, essentially at gunpoint. Years later, I still have yet to receive any answers about why I was terminated from a job I loved & was told I exceeded at. The only answer I was given was that in the state of Missouri they do not need to offer a reason for termination. The staff were crying & I have severe PTSD from this experience. I've been with this company for ten years and the service has gotten worse and worse. The front desk does not call to tell me my appointment has been canceled or that my massage therapist has quit. I've gone to my appointment just to be told no one is available to take me. They make no attempt to accommodate you and trying to reschedule is just about impossible. I made a mistake of signing up for membership, unfortunately my hours can never be used when I need them, whenever I call there is never an appointment available. Because I have hours on credit already paid for I can't waste money on many other places that staff well. If I had time I would pursue a full refund through my CC company or get the BBB involved. Bad Management and bad staff. This is a chain, what happened to catering to the customer? All they want to do is push packages on you. Not all of us can afford a package, or have the time commitment for one. I went there for a "special deal" which included a facial. I told the Esthetician what I wanted and have had in the past and she wrote down the pricing for me and told me to call when ready. I noticed I am getting Melasma on my forehead and now is the time ( 2 mo later). I told the receptionist I had Melasma and she huffed and asked "is it contagious". Should have been my first red flag. Then she said the Esthetician no longer works there and they will no longer honor the pricing she gave me. Spoke with the Manager Jim and he gave me a sorry excuse of it is part of the "package deal" and they cant override the system. I have been to this location 4 times, and seen 3 different therapists. I am very very picky about massages, and have only ever gone to 2 whom I loved (one retired, one is in Miami). I was hesitant to go here because I assumed it would be "okay", but I desperately needed a massage at the time. I was very pleasantly surprised. I get bad knots in my shoulders all the time, and need a massage therapist who can work them out firmly but without leaving me in actual pain. The first two times I went to a male, can't remember his name, and he was great. The third time I went to a different male who was also very good, but honestly I felt a little uncomfortable about how close he was getting (with his bare hands, not over the sheet) to certain areas. And even if it was completely by accident, I felt like I couldn't relax. So today I saw Mia, upon recommendation of the person who answered my call when I said I wanted deep tissue. OMG she did an amaaaaazing job!! My shoulders were knotted more than I can recall in years, and she spent the entire hour on my shoulders and back (per my request). She focused on each knot individually and really worked to get them out. It was the perfect amount of pressure. I have a feeling her fingers will be pretty sore tomorrow. When I left, I even booked another appointment with her for next week, and I NEVER book ahead. After reading the reviews, it seems like a lot of people have had issues with this place and their billing practices. I've been a member of this location since October and have had zero issues. The same amount comes out on the same day every month. Previously I had belonged to the one in Kirkwood and didn't have issues there either. So hopefully this is an issue that only affects a small percentage of customers. My only complaint, if you can even call it that, is that they advertise free use of some hydro-massage thingy, yet I've never seen it not has it been mentioned it to me. A friend said it was pretty lame, so maybe they just don't hype it very much, and I'm sure if I bothered to ask I could find out about it or use it. read more

Was recently in a car accident and was recommended to get a massage... which is not something I have done regularly. I saw a massage therapist here and I can't remember her name. She was very friendly but seemed almost too afraid to go deep tissue. There were parts of my body that were sore but after one sore spot that was a little tender my massage therapist went very light touch the rest of the massage and was almost just a rub down for $50. Though it still felt great I didn't get the full benefits out of the deep tissue massage I paid for and expected. Therapist also had VERY long fingernails that when her hands were lotioned would stab me randomly throughout the entire massage. I would recommend researching and talking thoroughly with your therapist about what you would like done/ expect to be done (which I could have done a better job of) But overall would probably recommend looking elsewhere if you want the bang for your buck. First timers is $48 and regular priced is $75. read more

My wife and i signed up for the monthly massage package in Feb 2012 at the Kirkwood location. We have been receiving our massages at the Manchester location since it opened. All I can say is the service we receive at this location is as good as a Fancy SPA but at a fraction of the cost. You just don't get all the fancy extras. I scheduled a massage and when I arrived I waited for 30 minutes and then the manager said that the masseuse had just quit. I needed to reschedule for a new massage time. The next time that I scheduled, they called two weeks later and said that I had to change the time because they had not built in a lunch for the masseuse. The last time that I went the massage lasted 40 minutes and the "special add on" was incorrect and they told me that the add on adds cost normally but DOES NOT ADD ANY TIME TO THE MASSAGE. They said that they looked at the cameras and made up the times when the masseuse started and left the room even though I looked at the clock the entire time. What is weird is that they said that they would go and make sure that all of the clocks were on the right time. Here is the problem. If I was looking at the same clock and when she started was 2:20 and she walked out of the room at 3:00 what do they have to fix? 40 minutes is 40 minutes? Do not get a massage at this location EVER!! They offered me no refund and blamed it on me. read more

While the place looks pretty and the people are nice, my husband and I just wasted an hour of our lives getting "massages" from "professionals" My husband asked for deep tissue. The lady barely used any pressure, even after he told her to go harder. He also asked specifically for his lower back and hips to be massaged, and the lady barely worked on those areas, but gave him a helluva hand massage. I asked for neck, back and my left hip to be targeted. She worked on my back and only worked on one small area, and when she would push down a little bit, she would slip off of me and end up jabbing all my bones. She worked on my neck for the last 3 minutes and I could tell she didn't have a clue what she was doing. She also didn't work on my left hip, but I got a helluva foot massage. These girls didn't read the charts we filled out when we first got there, and even after we told them the specifics of what we wanted, they still didn't do them! We got a small discount at checkout. I went to this location for the first time today with my wife. I got a massage and she got a facial. Both services were OK, but not really great. I think the pricing is a bit much for what we got. Although they advertise a 60 minute massage, there's a 5 minute "consultation" that is baked into that time at the beginning and end . They also do not compensate if the therapist is running a few minutes late. My massage ended up being only about 45 minutes. The higher price I pay at other establishments is definitely worth the difference in quality. read more

When they come out to pay, the last thing they want to see is a bunch of hustlers behind the counter doing their best to guilt them into spending money they don't want to spend. Have had nothing but trouble at this location. I received a few groupon gift certificates to this place from family members. I used 3 since 2011. I am told by this location. I can't use anymore and it's not their fault people bought me gift certs thru groupon. Then they said ok we will let you use one of the massage ones and pay the $20 difference for a facial. Ok. I did that and when I got done with the facial and came out to pay they charged me $45. Worst facial i ever had and if you add the 45 with the 29 orig paid for the groupon a total ripoff. They said no one told you $20. Blatin lie. They acted like they were trying to adjust the price and said the system wouldn't let them. BS. BUT if I joined as a member I could use all the groupons I wanted.. Really?? Another time I had an appt. with a therapist that was good. Overall not all of the therapist are great and I went through several of them before I found Nate who was the best therapist I ever had! I was upset when I found out he was moving out of state. The manager Crissy is great and gave me other recommendations of people to use and now I have Jake as my therapist. He is new to this location but worth the request if you come here! Other people seem to be scared of the "contract" but I love mine! It allows me to pick the date I want it taken from my account and I can come every month. You can even sign up for different levels now which is cool. People are also afraid of asking for what they want. If you don't you won't get a quality session. Go there and try out Jake!
