I'm no wine connoisseur, but after dinner at Masseto, I can at least surely say that this place doesn't play around with its wine. Instead of a usual menu, I was presented with an iPad that had all their bottles listed. Upon scanning the list, I have to say that the selection is definitely more extensive than your regular dinner establishment. As I've said, I don't quite trust my wine palette quite enough yet to make a good call as far as pairing is concerned, so I let the server take the wheel and suggest me a few kinds to go with what I ordered. He poured me generous servings of different kinds of red wine in three different glasses to taste. Given my low-tolerance for alcohol, my "Asian glow" manifested itself immediately and I was all red (to my significant other's entertainment). If I remember correctly, it was a pinot noir for that night (can't quite remember if new world or old world). I just remember enjoying my glass in all my Asian glow glory. As for the food, I ordered a plate of duck confit with potato on the side came, and it was everything that I expected it to be (apologies if that's all I remember, the wine started to creep up on me at that point). The service was on-point, and the ambiance exuded an elegant but not too snobbish vibe. and I'm hoping that I can pay the place another visit in due time. read more
