So this is the 2nd time we have used Massey's yard service, and it will be the last. We terminated the contract the first time due to no communication from them and the techs not following through on items we requested. We live in Florida and crabgrass is a constant issue. We have asked time and time again to treat, but never happens. We had brown spots pop up in our front and back yards in May. By July, most of my backyard is dead and the spot in the front is 15' x 10'. I called Masseys to find out what was up, because nothing is annotated on the slips the tech leaves (two visits since first noticed till we finally called). The dispatch sets up their tech for the following day. Now, he says I have mole crickets. Does it take 2+ months to figure that out??? So I'm told by the manager that my plan has sod replacement, and they have put in a claim, will be about 10 days. That was three weeks ago! I called this week to talk with the manager's manager. He made every excuse for why this has happened instead of just taking ownership of the issue and trying to work to resolve it. I told him I'm fed up and I want my replacement sod done. So he sent the lower manager out today to treat the areas with Roundup (remember this part!). While he's in the backyard using spray paint to mark the areas, I ask him if he is going to treat for the crabgrass in my yard. He says, "We don't treat for crabgrass". If you are a Floridian, your eyes probably doubled in size!. That is enemy #1 here. Then there is a bit of back and forth with me saying are you serious? Your other manager Jim specifically said that would be done when we decided to give Massey's another chance (falls right in line with others comments of they will promise anything to get you as a customer and then not follow through). He then says "We don't even carry anything on the truck to treat crabgrass". I Couldn't believe he said that...he has a backpack filled with ROUNDUP!!! I was just flabbergasted. So I ask him how I'm going to be compensated since this has been going 3 months and I have still paid for services. He tells me this was only reported in July. I explained that was after 2 months of waiting for "your best tech" to do his job, before I realized he wasn't. Then he proceeds to tell me the damage I have could've happened in a month.... So now I'm lying even though I have pics from May where you can see the brown spots starting. He then states it will be 10 days before they are back to install the sod. So if you are keeping up; this is almost 6 WEEKS since they said they would replace the sod. This is the ONLY time this guys accepts some responsibility and says he dropped the ball on that. Does that sound like a reasonable time for you? Yea, me either... Sooo done with this company! Too many competitors out there for me to stick with you until you figure out how to run a customer oriented company, not just saying you do. How can you have so many negative reviews and not be attempting some form of customer satisfaction program??? Left a message for the Regional/District manager. Terrible, we have wasted so much money and now have a lawn that is in very poor condition. The most disgusting part is we have reached out over 6 times and no one will provide customer support. Always are told someone will follow up and no one ever does. When we first had Massey we though highly of them and their services. Something has changed and they are gong downhill quickly. Where do I begin? John H hit it on the head when he mentioned YOU have to remind them of an appointment....Most of the individuals "servicing" our lawns never came to the door, even though someone was home, and they needed to be let in the back yard (locked gate). Guess what...that was a small favor! The back yard is the only place we have grass now! They mistreated our yard, and refused to respond to requests for assistance, despite their 100% guarantee. For months I called, the only thing they ever gave us was more bills. It is pretty sad, because we never expected Massey to be the sole provider of care for our yard; just professional guidance and spot treatments as needed. Even this was too tall an order ... UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU GET THEIR SERVICE IF YOU HAVE NEW/YOUNG SOD. They either don't have the knowledge they claim to, or don't apply it when servicing. This is a lawn care company that, for over a year, was at my property Monthly (according to the bills) but the lawn is dead in spots including a large spot about 240 square feet due to bugs eating the root system. I recently sign with Massey to take care my lawn needs, they came twice to apply the chemicals or fertilizer, they were suppose to do the aeration to my lawn 4/9/19 they never show up this according with my messy app, I decided to call the office and ask them when are the guys coming to perform the aeration to my lawn? they told me the guy already did the aeration. they gave me the date 4/27 they asked me for my email to send me a copy of the work order, I was surprised because on that particular date I have a garage sale going on in my house and I was home all the time, and I also have a security cameras I checked then nobody came from Massey, I call them back and they said to me that they will do it again but it will take it about six months, I told them to cancel my services since they lie to me I can't trust them. We are very disappointed, when I said I wanted to cancel my service. the manager called me saying that they will do the aeration this week, it is too late now. read more

My husband and I were faithful Massey customers for about 5 years. They would come when we called them and treat whatever problem we reported. However, starting in 2010 we woke up to how very expensive their services are, and they're just not very good in certain areas: irrigation, zoysia grass maintenance, and shrub fertilization. That leaves termite - that contract is almost up - and bugs. Fortunately for us, they have an awesome "bug guy" who is a super inspector. So I recommend that you use them until you get the lay of the land, but then you need to listen to the advice of friends and neighbors who have had more experience living in Florida! read more

Absolutely worst!! Double billed for annual lawn and shrub service and did not perform monthly service for 3 months. When called, the service manager claims he has "tickets" proving the work was done. My son was home on the days they reportedly serviced my lawn - no sign, no work ticket, no knock on the door as they reported had happened. Evidently technician is being paid for not doing work and my lawn is suffering because of it. I also have the pest prevention and termite contract. Because of the poor experience with the lawn, I am looking to sever all services with this company! read more

Complete lack of customer service. My previous pest control company was acquired by Massey and the service, billing experience has been a disaster. 1. No notification whatsoever about house visits. Upon contacting them, found out that they had an incorrect phone number that they were reaching out to. 2. Charged a ridiculous fee for the first visit. Upon contacting them again, found out that my name wasn't on the 'list' of acquired customers, but that will be given a credit for the next month's bill. 3. Received a bill for the same month, after it was paid (over the amount they were supposed to charge). Upon contacting them yet again, was told that my credit card on file had expired ad that I hadn't paid. Provided the transaction number and was told that that was a partial bill and that I now owed another $25 more to cover 2 months(!?). Upon inquiring further, the rep stated that she was in Florida and that the Georgia service center was closed, so she wouldn't be able to assist. Proceeded to cancel the account and stay away from this mess. Only reason I have given 2 starts and not 1, is because the service rep that stopped by at the house was polite and courteous. read more

We signed with Massey three weeks ago when we put down brand new sod and landscaping. Within three weeks, Massey has completely ruined the entire lawn. They told us that within 3 days of laying the new sod, they would come out and apply a brown patch fungus preventative, and that it was important this was applied right away. On my contract with Massey, it was very clearly labeled on multiple pages that we had 'new sod'. Three weeks later (and many phone calls to the office questioning what they had sprayed on the lawn) our entire grass is full of brown fungus and crabgrass. They were out at our house for less than 5 minutes each time (neighbor and roommate verified this each time) and they lied about how long they were there and what services they performed. When I reached out to the office demanding answers about the terrible state our brand new sod was in, I was told Massey never knew we had new sod and therefore, no preventative spray was applied for crabgrass or fungus. I was also told by two of the office staff to "go pull the crabgrass myself, there's nothing we can do for you". If I were to go pull all the crabgrass in our lawn, it would take me hours and half the lawn would be ripped up. Furthermore, I shouldn't have to spend hours in my lawn when we have brand new sod and we pay a company to maintain it. I have NEVER has such terrible service and customer service from any other company in my entire life!!!! The lawn is completely ruined and embarrassing right now, and just three weeks ago it was beautiful. We hired Massey to protect our investment, not destroy it! I would stay far away from Massey, I have no idea how they are in business. They lie to customers and are nothing but a huge headache. I will make sure that none of my friends or family ever considers Massey in the future. read more

I was home today (for once) when the Massey guy showed up. I decided to watch because my lawn has a few yellow spots and I wanted to see if he would even notice them. After spending several minutes chatting on his cell phone, the guy took a bucket of fertilizer and sprinkled some (by hand) over my shrubs. He did not fertilize my clusia hedges at all. He did not inspect or fertilize my lawn. He did not apply any white fly treatment to my palm trees. He then handed me a bill for lawn and shrub treatments and a separate bill for the palm tree service. I confronted him before he could get away and he claimed he could not apply the white fly treatment because we appeared to be eating the coconuts (we had several on our front porch). I explained that was fine, but he could not charge me for something he did not do. When I called customer service to cancel all my services and explained what had happened, I did not even receive an apology. I'm done. read more

I contacted for attic close circuit camera cable chewing problem ; They were absolutely sure it was by "Rat"; I paid $250.00 dollars up front; They came and placed two Rat feeding boxes outside the house and three Rat Traps in the attic; I asked them what if my problem still continue; you call us; two months later another another location camera cable was chewed; I contacted them to catch the animal; they came back fill the Rat feeding boxes and sent me another bill for $85.00 in addition to the initial & 250.00 dollars. I will not recommend Massey Pest control to any one, because they do not have the skill or knowledge to prevention animal (Rat) in to the attic or to catch around the house & they do not stand behind their commitment. read more

Massey Services is a money hungry and non-caring customer company. I used them for a year or so and was never satisfied with there performance regarding lawn care. After a year or so, I finally let the technician know that we no longer needed their service. That must have gone in one ear and out the other! I got two more bills that they conveniently hang on the door knob subsequently. I called their office after the second bill and they told me I had to "put it in writing" to cancel the service. What a croc! Needless to say I didn't pay the last two 100 dollar bills but maybe I should have because they dinged my almost perfect credit and caused me some heartache on a home loan. Trust me, they don't care about you or your home they only care about getting your money out of your pocket. Use someone else, I think you' ll be glad you did. read more

Kent Massey came out for an estimate and quoted me $610.00 for the first 2 years. He didnt come into the house to survey my "ghost ant" problem. I had another pest control company come out and they said there is a product called Terro that would remedy the ant problem. He also had the product and gave it to me at no cost. After surveying my home, he didnt really see any major pest issues and quoted me $75.00 per visit with no contract. read more

This company feels that treating your lawn for fleas consists of brushing the outside of your home with a duster and they have not once provided the service I requested but aren't afraid to bill you, threaten your credit, and even threaten to place a lien on your home for a lousy $60!!!! and they couldn't even wait for the mail to deliver them the check. read more

I recently canceled my Massey service after about 1.5 years with them. I am greatly dissatisfied with their service and the way they treated me when I decided to cancel my service. An area manager, Sammy Ramjitsingh, went so far as to threaten me with slander if I wrote this review. After some continued difficulty with fruit flies and beetles, the area manager, Sammy Ramjitsingh, came out to my house to inspect my property. Sammy had a bad attitude and was immediately combative when he entered my home. When it came to the fruit flies, he said the large palm trees outside my house were attracting fruit flies. This is something I have little control over as I cannot just remove the palm trees. I tried multiple times to ask Sammy if Massey can help me locate any glaring openings in which they might be getting in. Each time Sammy cut me off, not allowing me to fully state my question. Each time he pointed to the palm trees. I eventually got my question out. Sammy made no attempt to locate an opening and just said they could get in anywhere. As for the beetles, he said they were not harmful and also declined to try and find a solution. After an escalation to the area GM, Scott Rothschild, I still have fruit flies and I still have beetles. I received a quarterly bill from Massey ($80). Because I only ever had two pest problems in my house and neither was resolved, I chose to cancel my service with Massey. I spoke to the operator which indicated that my $80 would go to collections if I did not pay. I indicated that I felt it was not justified because of my unresolved pest issues. She suggested I compose an email and send it along, which I did. I received a call from Massey a little later, which I returned and spoke to Sammy. During the call Sammy told me fruit flies and beetles were not covered as part of my agreement. This was certainly a surprise to me. I requested a signed copy of the agreement. I told Sammy that I would be writing about my experience. Sammy got very agitated and said that slander was a dangerous thing and that he would be notifying management and the legal team of my decision. He said it would be slander to say Massey did not treat a covered pest (fruit flies and beetles) when the agreement does not mention either insect. In the interest of fairness the agreement states "Services will be provided for: Roaches, Ants, Spiders, Silverfish, Rats, Mice, Interior Fleas and Ticks, Other". Now, I'm guessing "Other" is supposed to be filled in as if I am to anticipate any pest my home may have. So be careful with that as that seems to be their loophole for any other possible pests. The part of the agreement I feel they did not meet was to "eliminate conditions, avenues and sources that will prevent pest entry and infestation". I repeatedly asked for assistance in identifying and eliminating entry points to my home for flies and beetles, but got no assistance at all. Despite Sammy's threats of slander and his demands to pay my $80 or be sent to collections, I was determined not to pay for poor service. I looked on Massey's website and behold a "Money Back Guarantee". As the website states: "If you are not satisfied with the results of your program, we'll provide corrective service at no additional charge. After 30 days, should your problem persist, we'll continue to provide service at no additional charge until you are satisfied, or we'll refund your last regular service payment." So rather than meet the company policy, Sammy chose to wriggle around some dubious agreement wording and threatened me with accusations of slander. It is clear Sammy is not at Massey with the goal of customer service. I called Sammy back to discuss the Money Back Guarantee. He still felt that it was not applicable. At one point he said my pest problem was "not a Massey problem". I mentioned that the guarantee simply says "service". It says nothing about protected pests. I asked Sammy if coming to examine my fly problem was a service, to which he said yes. I asked then why this definition does not apply and he went into the same protected pest argument. I then asked Sammy if customer service was a part of "service". He did not answer the question, instead saying that had nothing to do with the money back guarantee. Throughout the call he would yell and talk over me. When I confronted him as to why a manager felt the need to yell at a customer, he apologized and said he "tends to do that". Sammy clearly wanted to stand his ground and fight more than he wanted to understand me. Therefore, I asked a callback from Scott and asked for the corporate number. Sammy refused to give me the corporate number. I found the corporate number anyway and filed a complaint. The same day, Scott called me and said he would not hold me accountable for the last service bill of $80. Whether this was Scott's decision or passed down from my corporate complaint, I do not know. read more

We subscribed to these services for a one year period paid in advance, however, we received the worst possible service ever. We had to call them back on occasion to follow up on their "Services." They didn't tell us up front that some weeds are "Uncontrollable," as they say. When we made the initial agreement, we stated we did NOT want any of their aeration procedures done. After arriving home from a very pleasant vacation, we were quite surprised when we received an invoice for this "Aeration" service after our one year plan. When we called to follow up, we were told it is an "Ongoing" service. We were never contacted to advise us that the aeration service was going to be performed. To us, this is not a preferred practice. We refused to pay the invoice and were then told it would be turned over to collections. We will never, ever again use Massey's services! Giving them one star was the lowest we could go on the rating chart. Had there been a negative rating, that would have been our choice. It's no wonder their overall rating is only 1 1/2 stars. We want no further contact from Massey or any of their representatives. read more

My neighbor Joe just got sod laid in his yard last week, and it look horrible.. Looks unreal, like a bunch of little kids installed it. Looked much better a couple of weeks ago before they started treating it... They should really re-do it and make good on it.. its really bad. Massey, you need to get back over to Teffeau's and do a better job. I know other people who use your services and have had issues.... I would suggest you practice some customer service and followup on your services.. if something isn't right, you need to followup and make good on it. I was referred to you, and now Im not so sure.. If I see you follow through on your work, and make things right, especially when people are paying a lot of money, then I would think about switching to you. LOOKS BAD... Stay away from this company unless you want them to come and spray your lawn turning it brown each time, or unless you want them to come out and spray multiple times over several weeks for bugs just for the same amount of bugs to get inside the house and no change to the amount of bugs around the house. Don't be fooled by their slick car salesmen like sales reps. Their lawn service hurt the lawn instead of helping it, going back to fertilizing and weeding my own lawn has it looking 10x better than when we had their services. Spraying for bugs myself has made a night and day difference to the bugs compared to when we had their services. And their bug control is the equivalent to spraying my house with Off bug repellant. And don't expect them to cancel your service when you tell them to, and then continue to bill you still after three months after cancelling. My wife was harassed by their pest General Manager, feeling belittled when she told him to cancel our service, and was told that he would come out our property to have a look. Even after being told no, that she wasn't home and that we didn't want them back on our property he stated that he would just come out anyways. Or to provide good customer service, let alone having any of their managers be able to help you, or keep their word about calling you back. And definitely don't expect them to uphold their Guaranteed or your money back guarantee on either of their lawn or pest services. For a company who touts that if a customer is not completely satisfied with Massey Services that they will provide the necessary service at no additional charge, and continue to provide service until your satisfied or they will refund your last regular payment they sure don't keep their word on that. I hired Massey for both pest/weed control and sprinkler maintenance. I live in a HOA neighborhood that is very strict on yard appearance and did not want to have to worry. My sprinkler system stopped working. I called Massey. Days later they finally showed up, said they fixed it and left. The sprinklers did not work on the next watering day. I called again. Same story. The third time I was very firm that they either fixed it correctly or I would terminate services. I told them my grass was almost completely dead. They said the sprinklers needed a new controller box and they needed to order it. It would be $250. I was assured it would be in by Saturday. I had to travel for a week for work and when I came back it was still not fixed. No phone call Nothing. So I went to Home Depot, bought a much nicer box for $65 and installed it myself. I am a female who knows zero about sprinklers. Massey is unresponsive, they do not return phone calls as promised, they don't care what would seem to be basic parts, and don't care if your grass dies or not. i had massey srrvices in fl. then we sold the house and moved to ga. where they don't have those services. they sent a man to spray after we sold the house, i had told the service man that we were selling the house and they would have to ask the new owners if they wanted to continue the service, well they didn't ask, the just did it and keep sending me the bill for the service. i have called them every month and explained the situation. i even returned a bill and wrote on it about the situation and i still keep getting that same bill. they are very hard to cancel, so buyer beware. they keep telling me it is up to someone else and ship me from pillar to post about it. i will never have their services again and my warning to you is, --don't sign their contract, you can't get it stopped and can';t get the bills stopped either. read more
