Despite all the other places, this one offers toasted, tightly rolled sandwiches in thin pita- really my favorite style! the falafels are amazing and "donut style" for extra crisp. Five stars for the falafel, sauces, and salads; slight deduction for pita and larger deduction for fries. This is the best hummus I've had in years, and really excellent baba ganoush and falafel as well (though with take-out the falafel didn't stay as crispy as ideal). Really fresh and creamy, and the tabouleh was appropriately sour though a bit more bulgur would have been nice. It would actually be good even in a larger city, which is rare praise for me in Rochester! So, why just four stars? The pita wasn't the softest, and got a bit moldy not quite two days later. And the fries are really quite soggy and unpleasant, as determined in a group french fry tasting---I know, fries aren't what you go to a falafel place for, but if they're gonna put them on the menu and sell them as part of a "combo"... But if you stick to the big-ticket items, it's a wonderful place. read more

I really enjoyed the service and quality of food at Master Falafel. The portions are very generous for the price. I was not an outward fan of Syrian food before this, but after I had Master Falafel I am definitely dialed in. I don't quite have the palate yet to tell the authenticity of the falafel, but I'm willing to bet this was the best falafel around. The gentlemen working behind the counter worked with an efficiency I have rarely seen. Everything we ordered came out perfectly, and was unbelievably filling - most of our group saved their meals for later. I ordered online, and their website's descriptions of certain items were a little bare. It was also difficult deciphering the differences between the plates and the bowls. Ordering itself wasn't too difficult, but when sending the menu to coworkers they weren't 100% sure what they were getting. Oh yes, this is a good place. The falafel is tasty and not dry... and it's green on the inside (which is how you know it's done right). The pita wrap with veggies is good and flavorful... I would recommend this to anyone who wants good falafel. They have other stuff I haven't tried yet because I'm a falafel fiend but I will get to it. We got take-away from Master Falafel for dinner tonight, and we will be back for many more take-aways, without a doubt. My husband (a Middle Easterner, himself) deemed his Falafel Pita with Garlic Sauce "superior" and "the best falafel pita in this area ... by FAR!" We got an order of fries to split, a Fatoush Salad to split, and I got the Sampler of Falafels (5 of each type of falafel) PLENTY of food, and I will get some lavash and hummus to make pita wraps with the leftover falafels and salad. I loved getting to try all of the different types of falafels, and encourage you to try the sampler, too. I have to agree with my husband, though -- the Classic, Original Falafel was my favorite among them all, with the Sesame Falafel as a runner-up. Overall, we were thrilled with the food. The chicken was so moist, the sauces in the pita are so flavorful and comforting, the pickles add a nice crunch and acidity that balances the pita. Having lived in the Middle East for many years, I'm always excited whenever a new Middle Eastern restaurant comes to town. There were some things I really liked about this place and some that were just OK. If I could, I'd leave a rating of 3.5. What I was lukewarm on: for a place that emphasizes its falafel, I didn't think the falafel was anything remarkable, it was good just not anything more. I think as far as I can tell, the best falafel in the area is at Mediterranean Kebab House (whose felafel is crunchy, not soggy, mildly spiced (not overly so), slightly moist and not dry). There's nothing wrong with Master Falafel's falafel; it just wasn't the star of the show. What I liked: 1) Their hummus is outstanding. The best I've had in the area. It tastes like hummus you'd get in the Middle East. It's not pasty (as most restaurant hummus in the US is), it's not too lemony, not too soft / oily ... it has a subtle, earthy flavor from the tahini. This is probably very fattening hummus but real proper hummus should be just like this. 2) The tabbouleh salad is solid. By no means close to the best I've had, but very solid. It was neither dry nor excessively soggy, salty and lemony, as most tabbouleh is in the US. 3) I liked the use of thin, crispy Lebanese/Syrian-style pita for their pita wraps. I haven't ever had hummus this good in the US. It took me back to Israel, the texture and taste was just so perfect. Also amazing were the falafel and baba ganoush. I don't typically enjoy tabouli but this one was very fresh and tasted great with the falafel and hummus. The lamb and beef gyro was also very tasty. I LOVE MASTER FALAFEL. This place is somewhat new and when I saw the name, I needed to check it out with my husband. I like to think of myself as an aspiring falafel connoisseur and this place hit the mark. The baba ganoush was one of the best I've ever had - they add a balsamic like glaze on top, and it was creamy and smoky. The falafel salad was SO GOOD and spicy. The spicy falafel was great as well - although I can't tell if the actual falafel itself is spicy or if it's the sauce they put on it. The desserts were amazing - the baklava and rice pudding. They gave us Oreo to put in the rice pudding but honestly I like the more bland taste rice pudding after a flavorful meal and I liked it better without. The only suggestion I would have is that the salad dressing was spicy (which I loved) but it wasn't advertised. I thought about someone like my mom ordering it and it would have been too much for her. That's my only comment for improvement though. I can't wait to be back many, many, more times. If you have never had this middle eastern food the owner and staff are more than happy to explain and let you taste. Had their Kibbe, shish Tawook and gyro shawarma wraps the other day and was not at all disappointed. Although they have a lot of novel takes on falafel (and it is their namesake), I did not try it during this trip. But the flavors on the three previous mentioned were not only on point, the serving portion was generous and really I have little I think I can critique. Will definitely visit again (and probably a regular customer at this rate !). Saw this restaurant featured on the local news. It's conveniently located just off 490 Goodman exit. I parked in the lot for the pet store/auto parts store and walked two doors down to the shop. The shop is bright and clean, full of wonderful smells. Online order was ready when I walked in. I had the basic falafel. It was a full entree size with crispy crunch on outside and light texture inside. Not greasy at all and easy on my sensitive tummy. Next I tried the Baba Ganoush. It came with pita bread and was definitely fresh, chunky, and home made. It was a generous size appetizer, more than enough for sharing. The lentil soup wrapped up my meal. Yummy and peppery. My family and I came here late at night after our grandfather's funeral. Master Falafel was the absolute PERFECT end to a sad, sweet day. The food was amazing, and the people were so friendly and welcoming, even though we came in about 45 minutes before closing time. We must have looked weird eating falafel in our funeral finery. My friend and I have been wanting to try this place for a while, and in order to get the feel of the place, we ordered the entire appetizer menu - Hummus, Baba Ghanouj, Tabbouleh, Kibbeh, and Grape Leaves. (the soup wasn't on the menu at the time). And of course, we added the Master Sampler of the Falafel. It was enough for two meals for two people. Everything was so fresh and delicious. I am definitely coming back for more. Delicious food prepared in an open kitchen. Plenty of vegan and non-vegan choices so everyone can eat here.
