What I am amazed at is Master Ahn's ability to tap into every child's desire to succeed, and accomplish what is needed. He can reach the frail, beaten, and insecure, the pampered and indulged. He pulls from them what is required, what is expected of them. "What they must do." "They must reach inside and pull from within to accomplish, stand strong and defiant when facing strength. Master Ahn has perfected a curious combination of gruffness, speaking truth to every situation; be it criticism, instruction, or praise. Students learn to take criticism for what it is, a tool needed to achieve a goal, sometimes rising from failure, to achieve that goal. There is an understanding that doing what is demanded of oneself is expected. Proper form and order are essential. Yet it is not all that is required; desire, boldness, and savage determination to protect oneself are required at times. Students are taught to be kind, helpful, and encouraging to others, as well as to determine when a stronger, protective reaction is called for. Master Ahn will sustain a solid influence in the lives of my grandchildren. As a teacher for 30 years and a coach for 11 years, I highly recommend his classes.

USTA teaches self-defense for all ages, including a full training program of Japanese Jujitsu self-defense, Arnis, TaeKwonDo, & Kenjitsue (Japanese Samurai Sword). Classes start with stretches and progress to excercises that gradually get your heart rate up to excercises to keep it up. This class is not only good for the body, but the mind as well. took me a while to finally write a review! read this for a genuine review from a former decade long…read moremember here. i was with the white tiger family for a very long time, went from white belt to a 2nd dan black belt here and then went off to do tkd at the collegiate level afterwards. i think the best part of white tiger overall for me has always been the people there. just such caring instructors and staff and some of my best friends (even to this day), have been made on the mat. also, some of the most fun trips i've ever done have come out of taekwondo too, from new york, austin, seattle, and miami to the kukkiwon headquarters in korea. so many experiences come from the tournaments and detours you'll take as a tkd athlete in life. in general, white tiger has always excelled in teaching poomsae (tkd forms) as well as in tkd demonstration. it's also a very well connected school in terms of the broader network of tkd schools and masters. as such, there's lots of opportunities to participate in fun tournaments and events and really level up your skills. i genuinely think it's worth it for anyone interested to give it a shot and, who knows, it might just become one of the most memorable things you do in your life. just like it was for me! :)

We were not communicated that the child had to be dropped there and parents can't even see them perform at practice. This is such an important piece of information that should have been communicated. We took our entire family for this and had planned out the day accordingly. A black belt means learning responsibility, dedication, respect, discipline and so much more. It has also helped me to stay physically fit and mentally focused. Taekwondo has also helped me with balance, coordination, and flexibility. I am in better shape and feel stronger due to taking Taekwondo. We do a lot of exercises, and that has helped me to stay healthy and strong. I am happy that I know how to defend myself. It has also provided me with social benefits and community. I have made a lot of new friends that i look forward to seeing every week. . I have put a lot of time and effort into training for my black belt test. I have trained several times a week for many years now. I've attended three different schools and learned a lot from all of them. I began Taekwondo when I was 7 years old. I attended a school in McAllen Texas called Bob Davies Taekwondo for about 3 years. At this school, I had a Blue belt with a black stripe. Then, I moved to Allen Texas, and joined Master Atkins Taekwondo school. At this school, I earned a Brown belt. That school closed down due to Covid-19 and never opened again. After that, I started attending the U.S. Taekwondo Academy. I have been at this school for about 4 years, and I will take a test for my black belt. During this time I have mastered different techniques. This shows all the dedication, and hard work I've put into training for my black belt. My school offers sparing, and disarms, twice a week. Disarms means to take away an object from your opponent or the person who is trying to harm you. Taekwondo has been in my life for 8 years and I am glad that I am finally going to test for my black belt.

I had a lot of admiration for the higher belts and the black belt students who I saw during belt promotions. But as I continued training, I realized it's about way more than just impressive moves. At USTA, they teach us to be strong not only on the outside, but on the inside too. I had to learn discipline, respect, and how to stay focused even when things get hard. I've been training and studying under Master Seo for 2+ years. Master Seo is truly fluid in martial…read morearts and can train you in multiple disciplines such as Tae Kwon Do, Hapkido, Kung Fu, Boxing, Weapon defense and weapons training like Escrima. His training will whip you into shape with different drills every class. If you ever considered trying martial arts come here, it's the place to be. Personally I'm looking forward to training here for a long time. Adult classes are mornings I think 11ish. Mostly kids in the afternoons and adults in the evenings and Saturday mornings. Black belts have their own classes, private classes are available too. There are many adults that do attend mid 20 somethings, parents of children students, working professionals, and personal trainers in their off time (myself included). The adult crowd is super friendly, caring, and community focused. Most adult classes have 2-5 student and always includes a warm up/stretching drills. Master Seo, or Master Jake as the kids call him is excellent with children. They love to play with him before and after his classes and sometimes rewards them with a treat (small piece of candy). He really gets the kids moving and can wear their energy out. The parents love him too. The facility is clean especially the studio. The floor is a soft foam safe for tumbling or the occasional slip. Master Seo has multiple training dummies, kicking targets, portable kicking bags, foldable tumbling mats, everything you could imagine. He has a human shaped training dummy dressed in a training Gi There is a parking lot in the back off of Haskell and parking in the front off Live Oak St. Always a clean bathroom. His desire to learn martial arts and this place having a summer program we're a perfect combination for us. We arrived for the class that they said would be most appropriate for a beginner like him and found a very welcoming environment. The owner David could not be a more perfect and welcoming person for the new visitors. He very quickly came to the door and greeted us as well as introduced my grandson to the other kids and introduced us to the other parents Guardians Etc. David's wife was there at the time and also worked very hard to make us feel as comfortable as possible. They quickly got my grandson in the studio and working out with the other kids who were as welcoming as mr. David and his wife. Between mr. David and the more advanced students they got him assimilated into their program and had who is really a typically pretty shy kid enjoying himself immensely.
