He has earned his first black belt and is working towards his second black belt. Master Ahn personally directs the classes himself and takes great personal interest in each of his students, which is very different from other centers. He is very strict when it comes to discipline in the class [we like it] while also having fun activities like dodge ball, which all kids seem to love. Master Ahn constantly encourages and challenges students to break boards with increasing harder kicks as kids progress and get better at kicks. He motivates students to improve their forms and kicks and not just go through the motions like a dance. The more interest and effort you put into his class, the more you get out of the class and him. Sparring is one of the highlights of the class and our kid loves it. During normal classes, students are taught to do forms and combination kicks. During sparring sessions, he directly monitors and guides the sparring to use these combinations in a safe way. Our son's sparring skills and confidence has dramatically improved over the years due to this class. Our son is more focused and disciplined due to this class. Our son [all kids in his dojo do] highly respects him and is constantly trying to improve his forms, kicks and sparring skills as guided by Master Ahn. took me a while to finally write a review! read this for a genuine review from a former decade long…read moremember here. i was with the white tiger family for a very long time, went from white belt to a 2nd dan black belt here and then went off to do tkd at the collegiate level afterwards. i think the best part of white tiger overall for me has always been the people there. just such caring instructors and staff and some of my best friends (even to this day), have been made on the mat. also, some of the most fun trips i've ever done have come out of taekwondo too, from new york, austin, seattle, and miami to the kukkiwon headquarters in korea. so many experiences come from the tournaments and detours you'll take as a tkd athlete in life. in general, white tiger has always excelled in teaching poomsae (tkd forms) as well as in tkd demonstration. it's also a very well connected school in terms of the broader network of tkd schools and masters. as such, there's lots of opportunities to participate in fun tournaments and events and really level up your skills. i genuinely think it's worth it for anyone interested to give it a shot and, who knows, it might just become one of the most memorable things you do in your life. just like it was for me! :)

It improved my focus immensely. An example of this is learning the tornado round house kick. To learn the kick, you must master all of the steps. Another example is learning the Deputy Black Belt form. The Deputy Black Belt form is very complex and requires a lot of skill and effort. The instructors at USTA also deserve some credit. I may joke around sometimes but they are always getting straight to the point and always teach us everything we need to know. They show us some tricks and skills we can learn. Taekwondo also has taught me to show effort and be consistent by making me go to at least 3 classes a week and if I don't show effort then that means I have to do more pushups. I have also learned to show respect because every time we do a drill, we must show respect to our partner. Another skill I have learned from taekwondo is how to be a leader. I have learned this skill from taekwondo by leading in the warmups. This skill is important because if you don't know how to talk with confidence, then you won't be a good speaker. Being a good speaker is important because it could help you in the future with your job or maybe doing a speech. As you can see, taekwondo has taught me many important skills for that will also help me in my life and it has also taught me how to show respect to others. Finally, earning a Black Belt at USTA makes me very proud because of all of the work I have put in and I can't wait to get my Black Belt!

Black belts have their own classes, private classes are available too. There are many adults that do attend mid 20 somethings, parents of children students, working professionals, and personal trainers in their off time (myself included). The adult crowd is super friendly, caring, and community focused. Most adult classes have 2-5 student and always includes a warm up/stretching drills. Master Seo, or Master Jake as the kids call him is excellent with children. They love to play with him before and after his classes and sometimes rewards them with a treat (small piece of candy). He really gets the kids moving and can wear their energy out. The parents love him too. The facility is clean especially the studio. The floor is a soft foam safe for tumbling or the occasional slip.
