Before Christmas, I called to get a quote for replacing my furnace and AC unit. Shawn came out the same day, gave me a fair quote, and I scheduled the installation for January 16th. Since I was replacing two systems, they sent two teams to handle the job. A big shoutout to Arick, Travis, John, Lisbey, and Mike for doing an excellent job! There were some questions about the placement of the new AC units because they were physically much larger than my old ones (I opted for higher-efficiency models). A supervisor came by, and after discussing code requirements and manufacturer recommendations, we agreed on the best location for the units. Three of the team members worked outside in 25-degree weather, and I never heard a single complaint. In fact, they were more concerned about whether I was happy with the new unit locations. Meanwhile, two others worked inside installing the furnaces, and they even had an additional person to help carry out the old equipment. The operation was impressively efficient. Once everything was installed, they gave me a thorough walkthrough of how the systems work and how to change the filters. I couldn't have been happier with the job. Robert told me I needed a $650 "Damper" for a boiler. Then comes back who days later and tells me the entire furnace is frozen solid and destroyed and I have to pay $10,000 for a new boiler. I send my guys in there, furnace works just fine. Damper replaced for $425. read more

I called Mastercraft Heating Cooling Plumbing Plumbing & Electrical and told the person who answered the phone what my problem was. Which is when I turn on the bath tub knobs to fill it up with water the shower head will also dispense water and has not been turned on. Travis and his co-worker came to my home on August 5, 2024. I told them the same thing I shared with the person who answered the phone. They said they could not fix it. I stated you have been here 5 minutes and I have to pay you $104.00 for coming to my house and telling me you can't fix it. Then he said for $1100.00 we can replace the pipes from the basement which need shower valve and it will take a whole day. That let me know they were not planning to do anything that day. I think this place is great! Dan did an amazing job troubleshooting and proving a good solution w/out a/c. Told us about their electric service which was timely. Had Joe, the electitian, come out and did an outstanding job! He was patient with all the requests and always offered the perfect fix to a potential issue. I had Oscar Castillo come out and work on my two HVAC units. I moved into this house and there were lots of issues with the ducts. There were open holes in them that allowed air to blow into the crawl space, then thru the basement, and then upstairs. We also found multiple floor registers that had such large gaps between the floor and the ducts that more air was going into the crawl than into the room. Oscar went over the entire duct system, taped up many open joints, covered the openings, and fixed the floor registers. He was a joy to work with and he addressed everything. I also had him do some custom ductwork. We added switch-controlled motorized dampers so I can open them in the winter when I do want some warm air in the basement to prevent freezing the pipes but can close them in the spring thru the fall when I don't need cool conditioned air getting into the crawl and basement area. I have a switch that I toggle over and everything moves. More cooling in the summer upstairs where you want it and heat by the pipes when it gets cold. I purchased a new furnace in October 2019. The company installed a temporary unit with permanent installation to occur on 10/23/19. When the temporary unit was installed my ceiling in the furnace room was damaged. In addition when the permanent unit was installed I noted 3 holes in the shaft where the heat was escaping . In addition the humidifier was not working. I called and asked for a manager to inspect the installation. He repaired the holes and got the humidifier operational. He took a picture of the damaged ceiling and said the company would contact me. NEVER HEARD FROM THEM. Would I recommend?? NEVER I have been with the company for over 15 years, they have outgrown their capability for good service. I am finished with Mastercraft . read more

Installed our forced air conditioning 7 yrs ago never had a problem. Just had them quote genrac installation.

I called Saturday night when our furnace wasn't starting. They did answer, took my number, and got back to me in about 40 minutes. We spoke to someone about what we thought the problem was, and he checked and said that the part was still under warranty. We asked for a rough estimate of the labor cost, he said about $150. The part was available on Amazon or eBay for about $135, but because this was so close to the cost of having the "pros" do it we thought no problem, have them come out and do it for us. Unfortunately, when the tech got to our house this morning, the price we will be paying for labor is $275. Now, I understand that an estimate is approximate, but when it's off by almost 50% that seems somewhat dishonest. I would never have had someone come out to the house if I knew that would be the cost. Now that someone is out, we at least have to pay $85 for the visit, even if he doesn't do anything, so we're basically forced to pay the high amount no matter what we do at this point. I likely won't be calling this company again unless we have a catastrophic failure, as they installed the system originally so our warranty is through them. The two stars is for the fact that they did answer the phone when I called and got back to me quickly. read more

I would give this company a negative star because of their straight out deceptive tactics and trying to rip people off. I scheduled an appointment with Mastercraft Heating/AC last week for a furnace certification required by the City. Steve A. came out and told us there was carbon monoxide leaking from the furnace and that the entire furnace needed to be replaced at a cost of $2,500.00, the tech was very pushy, which was a red flag to me that he obviously gets a percentage of the furnace sale. My husband freaked out and impulsively agreed. I got a bad vibe about the whole thing, seemed a bit shady, so a couple of minutes later I told the tech Steve that we changed our minds and would give it some thought before agreeing to such a big purchase. The tech became upset, very nasty and rude and he left. That same day called another company to come in to do the same thing. I didn't disclose our previous encounter with MasterCraft. The new tech did his inspection and told us the furnace passed inspection and he was certifying it for the City. At that point I disclosed what happened with the MasterCraft tech claiming there was a carbon monoxide leak. The new tech took out his carbon monoxide monitor gadget and showed us that it was showing zero levels. So basically MasterCraft is a company that you CANNOT trust as they will attempt to sell you a new furnace or AC just to make money even though you don't need a new one. I made an inquiry on their website and auto-received an email letting me know that I would be responded to within 24 hours. 26 hours later, I decided to just call and was told they had an open appointment immediately. Ray came out to my house and was extremely friendly and hardworking. He tossed out a price range for the job before he really dug in, but once he pulled out the dishwasher, he let me know that the job was going to be much easier and charged me a bit less than what he quoted. My furnace stopped working around 9-9:30pm. I called Mastercraft and Bob came out within an hour. He diagnosed a bad transformer and replaced it within 30 minutes and I was back up and running. Had to pay more for the service call with it being after hours I am sure but it was worth it in the end. read more

Rude and not to be trusted...sold me a service contract under false pretense and then did not faithfully complete the work. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND AVOID AT ALL COST. I can see the owner has responded to this comment....so I will respond accordingly below. 1. I contacted them a few weeks after the contract was signed for a refund. Sorry, if you can't keep track on your end and call back to respond to my request. 2. Your tech came to the house and 'missed' the fact that the air conditioner was short several pounds of freon. POOR WORKMANSHIP! After technician examined my furnace, he was unable to determine a noise I thought was coming from my furnace . He pointed out that there was rust where the flames were burning. He suggested I might want to upgrade to a TRANE furnace for $4500. I asked if he thought I could make it till Aug. or Sept. He closes the door on the furnace and fails to reconnect the LIMIT SWITCH wire that transmits warm air throughout the ducts. He goes to his car and writes a proposal and tells me, "IF HE WALKS OUT THE DOOR WITHOUT MY SIGNATURE, THE DEAL WAS OFF THE TABLE'. Who does that. I left my home right after he did and returned almost 5 hours later to a freezing house. I panicked and called their emergency # and spoke to two separate operators. The 1st said she would pass the message on and HOPED that someone would get back to me that evening. After a half hour I called a neighbor who came immediately. And thank God he knew about furnaces. He was very angry that I was experiencing the freezing temperature. I called back to the emergency # and cancelled, saying that I had help. My neighbor got my furnace reignited but suggested I have a professional company come out and take a look at my furnace and I did. The next morning Friday the 2nd company arrived and told me that the switch was indeed the problem. And he also determined the BOOM noise I had heard. Having recorded both my neighbor and the 2nd company, I called MASTERCRAFT Friday afternoon and spoke to the owner STEVE , offering to bring the video to his office but he didn't want to see it. He said I had explained everything well. He then said "I don't know what you want from me." And I replied, that I wasn't happy to have had to pay two companies. He asked me if I would be home the next day, and I replied "YES". He said that he would call me. I never received a call or knock at my door! Tech ....... Never called to see if I was ok! So you charge me to put in 3 shut off values (which were suppose to be in years ago). Didn't come when he said he would. Didn't even call and say hey im running late. Nope! We've used Al Walter's in the past and they have been great. We called them yesterday morning. We didn't know the business sold/changed hands/whatever, and got a guy from Mastercraft. Guy came out, pulled a wire OUT of the furnace, poked around, and told my husband we needed a new furnace because "there SEEMS to be a problem with the circuit board" and since the furnace is 20 years old it is "gonna" (yes, he wrote that down) happen again like it already has been. Husband was furious and this "diagnostic" cost $85.00. read more

Late night service call...quoted me $3300 to replace furnace rather than order the part and fix it. I got a second opinion before complete replacement, and Bob called to give me grief about performing due diligence before committing to a new system. Turns out the part and installation was about $300, but I also had to pay Mastercraft additional charges ($369.00 service call, heater rental and "labor" even though nothing was actually done). Why quote for a new system when a couple hundred dollar part would fix it? That's just bad business! I would not recommend this company to anyone I know! read more

Our heat broke on a Sunday and we had a technician out to our home within an hour. Unfortunately we needed a new furnace (we knew we were on borrowed time). The next day a temporary unit was put in so we would have heat. The new units came in about a week, they sent 5 technicians and did a great job. Shirley, the woman who answers the phone, is rude and condescending. I have a long-term relationship with Mastercraft: thousands of dollars spent on new heating and cooling systems for several residential and commercial properties; and maintenance/service contracts for each of these properties. But when I needed a service call for a commercial property (that is literally located down the street from their location), I was informed that they were too busy to honor their "priority scheduling" for service contract holders and they could get to it the following day. I guess they make more money taking service calls for new customers than taking care of customers with service contracts. read more

Had Mastercraft come out to look at my furnace on 12-4-17 which wouldn't stay running. Service rep spent 5 minutes and said need a new furnace. I ask him to clean the furnace which he did and paid $164 for the service call and cleaning. 2 weeks later problem continued so I had another company come out. First thing he said was it needs a good cleaning. When I told him I had it cleaned he said it didn't look like anything had been done. He did a thorough cleaning, walked me through what he had done and the furnace has been operating great since then. Not only did Mastercraft try to sell me an unneeded new furnace , they did a bad job, if any, of cleaning it. Never use Mastercraft or refer them again! read more

He told her it could not be fixed until after the Christmas weekend, because he could not get the part to fix it until then. He quoted her $700+. My brother, who is a plumber, called his heating and cooling friend (and, I guess she will call him instead, in the future) . They went to get the part which costs $130. The furnace was fixed within an hour or two. So, Bob was going to rob my mom blind for Christmas and let her freeze over the holiday weekend; and that, more than anything made my blood boil and made me call and give them a piece of my mind. THEY HAVE A SERVICE CALL FEE OF 85.00 which includes them just driving to your home. when My mom asked them why it's 180.00 the guy said because he looked at both furnaces... Just had a wonderful service call at my parents' home in Metro Detroit. Steve was top notch and took care with their the AC, Furnace and Humidifier. Before leaving the shop, he had checked what kind of special filter they needed and made sure to have it with him on the truck. He answered all of my questions and was just a great professional who we felt comfortable to have in our home. Stay away from this company - they are jerks. I hired them for a simple job. They sent someone who could not complete the job, so they had to come back the next day, when I could not be there. When they did come back, they put their sticker over my furnace service record (they did not install the furnace) sticker on the furnace. This is a minor irritation. The reason I say they are jerks is that they wandered through my house to the where the second furnace is, and put their sticker on that furnace as well. They had no business wandering through my house to where the second furnace is located - it had nothing to do with the contracted job. Avoid this company, installation nightmare. Installers couldn't answer questions about product, tracked mud and dirt into house and spilled some kind of liquid on carpeting. Used our furniture for ladders and weren't able to properly balance outside unit. Tried to call owner several times and he hung up on me. What a shame to lose business because your customer service is lacking. Tried to explain to the person who called to confirm appointment that I had tried on numerous occasions to call the number that I was given to change my appointment time and kept getting Voice Mail full messages and that wasn't very customer friendly. I w2as told that it was not their problem if I tried to call a personal number (Given to me by Master Craft). I again tried to tell them that I was calling to try and change time but was told Technician was on the way. I tried again to explain that I could not leave a msg before but could not b....... But was cut off and told ...Not their problem about voicemail full but tech was coming. Hate to break it to you guys but my schedule does not work around your needs.
