He: Your membership only gives you access to the location you signed up at. Me: Oh, I didn't know that. I signed up online. He: But you are good to work out here today. You just might want to look over your membership. I think there's a level that gives you access to all. Me: Thanks! Jason was great! A Truly Special Part of UFC GYM Kailua…read more I just wanted to take a moment to recognize Kavika, who works in the childcare at UFC GYM Kailua. This isn't about one specific interaction...it's about the way Kavika consistently shows up for the kids. Every time we come to the gym, he is so loving, caring, patient, and genuinely playful with them. He makes the childcare feel like a place where my kids are not just being watched, but are actually cared for and valued. My kids get excited to go to the gym because they get to see Kavika. They talk about him all the time! As a parent, there is no better feeling than knowing your children are with someone who genuinely enjoys being around them and makes them feel safe, happy, and welcomed. Kavika deserves to be recognized for the impact he has. The consistency, kindness, and positive energy he brings to the childcare absolutely does not go unnoticed. Be aware she does offer hands on assists, but I love, but she does not ask for permission or comfort like some other teachers. Parking at the cinnamon's lot is convenient most of the time. I visited Mad Tiger on a weekday gi class and am impressed - Prof Eric and three of his awesome students (2x blue, 1x brown belt) welcomed me with open arms. The instructions from Prof Eric were situationally based that I could easily relate and practice. Rolling followed and you can easily assess the quality of the gym and instructor by the way students roll, especially with an out of town visitor - they practiced restraint and control, instead of cranking down to execute a submission (where injuries can occur) or using unscrupulous (i.e. butthole) techniques, ensuring everyone was able to have a good grappling session. Located in a converted warehouse in a residential area, close to Wheeler Army Airbase (Wahiawa), MTA has the vibe of an old school academy with a great professor and students. I know where I'll be visiting when I travel to Hawaii.
