I have been a member of this gym for over three years. The atmosphere is very welcoming and there are a lot of great employees and members. There is no shortage of equipment you can use for just about any exercise you are looking to do. I have also been working with a trainer there, Coach Joleen, for over two years and she has been a great coach. She is extremely knowledgeable, supportive and encouraging. I usually have sessions twice and week and they are a part of my week I look forward to. And she keeps me on track! She is an excellent coach that I would recommend to anyone. All instructors I had the opportunity to do classes with so far are amazing! Thank you coach Kiana, coach Phillip, coach Jonathan, coach Martin and coach Sarah. All are amazing professionals you can learn from so much even as an absolute beginner. I did a one on one class with coach Kiana: mind blowing the things she was able to show me in just an hour. Was going to this gym for cycling the last year and had the most fun time with Stephen Whipple, the instructor. Now he's gone! At one point it was difficult to get into his class, which tells you a lot about how much he made it fun! This type of change is bound to happen. Can you please get a replacement cycling coach with good music and not someone who plays sucky music? I think that ALL cycling instructors should take AJ's class before teaching killer cycle. I mean if her class is always booked, with a waitlist that never seems to go down, then she's doing something right! Especially when other cycling coaches only have 4-5 people who show up at their class. Sad to report that I was charged twice for a t-shirt purchase by Tina who has not managed to refund me since May. Stated she did me a favor getting the shirt from Honolulu and that she would reach out to corporate for the refund. A favor or is it your job? Also did the trial of massage bed 2024 and had my trainer cancel it, however it didn't cancel and continued to charge me $19.86 a month (9x $19.86 = $178.74 ). Trainer sends me to Tina, she says not her job to assist. OUCH. I have ended up in Bobby's office but still zero refunds. So difficult!!! More than 70% of the upholstery is torn on the benches and other machine equipment, cable attachments completely worn down or missing, always overcrowding of the turf area during the classes they hold there leaving other non-class members no where to safely warm up and cool down or perform other exercises safely, sound system out of commission for the 4th time in 6 months for weeks at a time.. all of these things have created not only a seriously hazardous environment but serious safety concerns as well not to mention a breeding ground for bacteria in all the tears on upholstery... I have addressed these issues several times with staff and even talked to someone in corporate position by the name Luke griffin and he said back in Feb that the upholstery would begin to be replaced first week of March it is now end of may!! If I could only give a half star I would. The only reason I give one star is because the people who work in the kids club are the best part about this gym! Didnt really enjoy this gym. This is more of a gym for cardio, very minimal weight machines, but got 30+ treadmills n stair masters it felt like. I got a free session for a new years deal my wife signed me up for and upon entering the guy had me run laps for 5 minutes, showed me three moves and basically said he didn't wanna show me or teach me anything else because I was new to it. Took about 20 minutes and I was promised an hour. I think it was just because he wasn't getting paid IMO. The staff were nice until I tried to cancel, I didn't realize we had to notify them a month prior to canceling the membership (yes it's in the contract you sign, but I'm sure they take advantage of the fact knowing most people don't read it thoroughly) but I had to pay for 2 months worth of a gym membership even though I signed up, only using the one free class that was cut short lol. They didn't care. for whatever reason they won't let you call and cancel. Has to be email or in person. Again most likely another tactic to make it harder for people to cancel. But I don't know. Maybe there's a good reason. I tried asking but they'd ignore what I said, I actually got hung up on because I called trying to cancel, was told only email or in person, and I said "what do you need in person or email that I can't give you over the phone?" And then they repeated their last statement. So I did as well and they just said "have a good day!" I have been working with Coach Joleen for over 2 years. She has been amazing to train with. She has designed workouts to help meet my goals, she frequently checks in and adjusts workouts as my goals evolve. She also matches our sessions to how I'm feeling and my energy levels. Joleen is a great cheerleader, motivating me to push through the harder parts of the workouts. She also checks in on normal life stuff and has been a great sounding board, allowing me to vent or share fun moments. I always look forward to training with her! read more

You deserve more for your money than what's being offered at UFC gym. Broken equipment, broken urinals, and way too often dirty (even though you're charged an annual "cleaning" fee). Want to watch sports while walking on one of the working treadmills? Can not, half the tv's broken the other half sits on rerun programming and UFC sponsored advertising. Trash, they'll tell you in the beginning that you're only paying first and last months membership and add in two training sessions plus use their recovery area as a trial, to see if you want to do their platinum membership (although you clearly just wanted the basic package) and in reality they charging you for two personal training sessions and you still have to pay last months membership still, absolute rubbish and a scam. The best investment I have made this year my Coach Reyn is fantastic Working with Reyn as a coach has been the best investment of my life. I have worked with Reyn for the past five months, and the results have been phenomenal. I lost 14 lbs of Body Fat, down 8%, and Lean Mass Up. Reyn created a personal program based on what was most important to me and used a true-tested and methodical approach to getting to my goal. As a coach, he created a safe yet challenging coaching environment whilst always taking the time to stay focused on the goals and making incremental improvements. His coaching style is insightful and able to analyze the key problems in exercise and nutrition by looking at data and asking penetrating questions. You probably really like this gym until you have to request a refund or cancel your membership. I requested the cancellation of my membership in early April 2023. Despite sending emails, making in-person visits, and placing multiple phone calls to confirm my cancellation, I continued to be billed until August. The charges of $51.21 were applied on May 9th, June 9th, July 10th, and August 9th, 2023. In August, I engaged with the front desk staff, who acknowledged my original cancellation request from April 2023 and retroactively sent me a cancellation confirmation email. I was informed that the refund would take 4-7 weeks to process, as of August. However, I am still awaiting my refund as of mid-October. After four months of attempting to resolve this issue with the front desk staff, I eventually contacted the General Manager. Unfortunately, he was unable to provide assistance and promptly referred the matter to the Operational Manager. It raises the question of why there is a middleman in the process if the General Manager cannot address membership concerns. I am currently awaiting a response from the Operational Manager. It has taken four months to confirm my membership cancellation and now over six months to receive a refund. This reflects a significant deficiency in customer service, accountability, business ethics, and team responsibility. Blaming the customer for extra charges due to an initial email sent to the "wrong address" is unjust, especially considering my repeated efforts to resolve the issue in person, via email, and over the phone. I am in Kailua celebrating the birth of our grandson and will be staying for 6 weeks or so. I will then be back and forth from the mainland on a regular basis and needed a gym I can workout at while I'm here. The basic access monthly fee seemed reasonable enough to me even with the annual facility fee factored in. I was somewhat apprehensive about joining after reading all the negative reviews but figured I wouldn't be out too much money if it didn't work out. I can't comment on anything other than the gym area dedicated to weight training. Although the space can be busy at times, UFC has quite the variety of Nautilus, Hoist, Smith Machines, Squat Racks, Cable Weight Stacks, and other miscellaneous machines in addition to the traditional free weights and dumbbells, that you can always find something open that will target the intended muscle group. Note I have done my workouts between 10 and 4 on the weekdays so can't comment on the use at other times and on weekends. The cleanliness is on par or better than all the other gyms I have frequented. Several sanitation stations are provided with paper towels and spray bottles filled with antibacterial cleaner for users to wipe down their equipment after use for the next gym member. There have been only a few machines that I have noticed signs on placing them out of service for maintenance or repair but they were all returned to service very quickly. The AC has always been on during my workouts and even with the size of the space it has been quite comfortable in the weight training area. The locker room and bathroom area is spacious and clean. There is a water station to refill your water bottles with purified cold water just outside the restrooms. I am quite happy with my decision to join UFC Gym Kailua and my experience to date has been nothing but positive! read more

Here's my story, got bad news from my doctor. Losing weight and changing my diet was a necessity. Walked into ufc gym Kailua, told Robert my story and he got me signed up and got me a personal trainer. Wasn't forced into any contract and I didn't feel like Robert wasn't tryna sell me on anything. He genuinely just wanted to help me. My personal trainer Preston has been nothing short of amazing. As a person that's never exercised regularly at any point in my 44 years on earth, it was a real struggle tryna get in shape. Preston motivated me to get fit the right way. No fancy diets or gimmicks. Just technique and hard work. After two months of going to the gym, my doctor said that I'm back to normal. Blood pressure normal and no longer diabetic. I truly believe without the help of Robert and Preston, I'd be nowhere near healthy. This gym is pretty friendly and I have yet to encounter anyone rude or unwilling to help. A great place for a GREAT workout and an excellent staff that accompanies this chic and stylist gym, I was so happy with meeting Dakota and Coach Mike and the overall energy of this place! I've been a member of UFC for about a year now and I've been to all of the locations on island. Out of all of them, this is by far the most beautiful of the four and I always enjoy it when I can make it to this side of the island. Jumanne, one of the managers here, makes coming here that much more enjoyable as he's got a great personality and is very knowledgeable about everything. If I come for the facilities, I definitely stay for Jumanne. I was sad when he left Waikele :-(. Each of the UFC gyms on island have pros and cons. Here's the list for this one: Pros: - Beautiful, brand new facilities. Clean and spacious. Upscale vibe. - Top-grade equipment. Good selection of machines and lifting stations. - Lots of space on the turf. - Jump ropes...this is the only location that has jump ropes on island which is great for them but bad for me. None of the other locations have jump ropes (probably because people kept stealing them), but come on. Can we please get some jump ropes at some of the other facilities? - Massage station and inflatable compression sleeves for your legs - Beautiful boxing area - Spacious classroom - Parking hasn't been an issue...yet. There's parking over at the parking garage near the Long's drugstore if the lot in front of the gym is too full. Cons: - No sauna - No arm bar - this is the only reason I took off a star. There's no place to buy protein shakes or a smoothie right after a workout which is a little bit of a deal breaker for me considering how often I buy amino shakes after a workout. - hard to find sanitation wipes. read more

I bought a 2 year membership in Dec 2023. I've gone a handful of times in the beginning mostly because the manager talked me hard into training packages. The gym is small and waiting to get on machines can be an issue. But the primary reason for not going and using my paid membership and planning on quitting is the excessive loud rap music. The company requires the decibels to be up very high. The music is a lot of angry F bombs. I can't even hear my own headphones. Mike the manager said he would "talk" to the higher ups, but nothing has changed. I'm going to quit since I never go. Literally the music is hurting my ear drums and apparently many members complain about this loud music but who cares about us, we only pay to keep the doors open. Most people wear headphones phones and listen to their music so why even play such loud Music like your in a dance club. And don't get me wrong, I like some rap music but not at 9 am blasting f bombs when we are all just waking up n trying to get moving. But this goes on all times of the day. I also signed up for one of their fitness challenges going on and it came with 3 free sessions with a personal trainer. I got matched up with Darren and he was really great to work with. I was having some knee pain but generally push through it and don't give it any thought during workouts or take NSAIDs to dull it out. I've also worked with multiple sports physical therapists in the SoCal area. They generally give you exercises to do at home. I didn't even tell Darren about my occasional knee pain and just by spotting my exercises, he adjusted my foot and knee placement while reminding me when my muscle memory would revert to my old habits. By session three, I noticed my knees had no pain which was strange because I was just used to being in slight pain all the time. I would definitely recommend Darren as a personal trainer as he knows the correct movements for effective training. read more

He curated a program geared towards my fitness goals and I've surpassed each and every personal record we set for me this past year. DON'T FALL FOR IT!!! The gym has everything in place to be a great gym but their management is a joke. Here is a timeline of how I lost $280 trying to join this gym then cancel. Yes that's right TWO HUNDRED AND EIGHTY DOLLARS in just one month!! My journey with UFC Kailua started on October 12th 2019. I went in with my husband to sign up for the two week free trial. At the end of our workout we were approached my a "membership specialist" by the name of Cassidy Heintz. He told us that if we wanted to sign up the only day we could avoid the $99 enrollment fee was if we signed up that same day. That we only had to pay a $50 hold that was 100% refundable at the end of the week if we were unhappy with the gym for any reason. That week I went every day to give it a fair chance but it was SO crowded that it was uncomfortable. So that Friday I called and let them know that I no longer wanted to be a member. They told me I had to come in and sign a form to cancel it. I told them I could be in to do it but they said that no one was available to sign my cancel form that I'd have to wait until Monday. Well that Saturday they charged me $143 for the rest of the month and the enrollment fee. I went in that Monday signed the cancellation form with Cassidy he gave me a copy and ensured me that I'd have a refund in 2 weeks tops. I kept my copy of the cancellation form because of the experience I'd had with them. On the 13th if November I'm charged for another month's membership. I call them that day they say they'll have their manager call me that they can't do anything. I wait for a call it never arrives I call again 3 days later same thing. I call one last time and finally someone explains to me that my cancellation WAS NEVER FILED and THEY LOST MY CONTRACT!! How professional, right? They give me the managers email and said I can email him personally and that they too will pass along the message when he gets out of the meeting. Long story short the "membership specialists" will just try and sell you the membership as quickly as possible try it for the 2 weeks and just see if you like it. My husband got deployed a week after our "free trial" and if he had signed up I'd have been out $600 and very likely had to get lawyers involved because I'm his POA but these people are so unorganized they would probably have said he has to be there himself in order to cancel . What a joke save your money just take yoga classes or go to the YMCA this place is shiny and new but is really just a money trap. read more

I am slightly conflicted in posting my review. On the one hand, this place is home and shelter to some good people (great trainers, etc.) and nice equipment and offerings. However, on the other hand, you should be warned, learn from my experience, and avoid trusting the 'business' / commercial side of this enterprise. Do not (i repeat, Do NOT) entrust the business folks (let alone the awful, non responsive, disreputable manager, Robert ('Bobby') Serano) with your credit card. I had been a failrly pleased customer (notwithstanding the lack of water flow in the showers, and other small shortcomings), especially with training sessions I had purchased and been using. But, then, one day while at the gym, i injured myself on one of the machines - the exercise area may be a bit too crowded (at that time). I chipped my ankle bone against a machine and wound up in the medical center. An aircast soon followed, along with Rehab/PT (for a period of months). Consequently, i placed my membership on hold. Notwithstanding this being coordinated and approved by management, the gym automatically reinstated my membership (and monthly dues) without informing me, let alone consulting me. It toik many calls and emails, but, finally, after dealing with 4 separate representatives, i finally received assurances that my cc would no longer be charged, that the 3 unauthorized charges to my card would be returned or applied to future dues, and that the training package i had recently purchased (my second) would be stored and available for future use. All seemed fine, at least to me. And, then, Covid came and lock downs, etc. followed. In attempting to follow up, i could not reach any of the folks i had previously communicated with (i have their names on some emails) and my many efforts at contacting the aforementioned manager were met with frustration and failure. Bobby Serrano ignored and or avoided my left messages with the front desk/back office, my emails and numerous phone calls. My wish (and articulated request) was to extend the 'hold' due to the pandemic (as well as complications from recovery / reinjury of the ankle). Zero response (as requested) other than a notification by email from 'the system' that my membership was being cancelled. No mention of my money and or previously agreed to credit/refund, which was detailed by the former employees. I am a lawyer, and i think that is theft / conversion. As well as, disreputable and unreasonable commercial behavior. Understandably, the last year plus has been disruptive for many/most, and business are not exempt. That said, you have your reputation till you lose it (and, goodluck with trying to earn it back). As for me, my only remaining recourse appears to be to pursue this in small claims court . I am unfortunately dissatisfied with UFC Gym Kailua, where I have spent thousands of dollars on memberships for my family. Our initial experience was positive, but we've recently faced several issues, particularly with the kids' classes. We were assured by the sales team that our children would fit well in the classes and that their age and maturity level would not be an issue. However, after paying annual fees, signup fees, first and last monthly fees, the trainers raised concerns about their age, contradicting what the sales person told us. We brought this issue to Mike, the manager, who promised to schedule and perform an assessment of whether our kids were suitable for the classes and mentioned a refund if not. Unfortunately, this follow-up and assessment never happened. Even after a follow-up with Mike, who seemed to acknowledge the oversight, there's been no progress. Further, we've encountered additional problems with the class instructors who have rolled their eyes at my wife at her insistence that they have a membership and were told they could join the kids classes. They have also refused to allow the kids into the class on one occasion. Repeated attempts to reach Mike for a resolution have led to promised call-backs that never materialize. I'm hopeful for a resolution and an opportunity to update this review positively, pending Mike's response. So far I would not recommend signing up your kids at this gym. While I may be wrong, I am getting the impression for a number of other reason that this gym uses sleazy sales tactics and dodges complaints to avoid dealing with their unmet promises. read more

I have been going to this gym for about a year now. I was placed with a trainer and worked with her for a few months until she retired. Then I was placed with my now strength trainer, Coach Reyn. He has been the absolute best in helping me reach my goals, keeping me accountable on my nutrition, and pushing me hard. He is very easy to work with, has great communication, answers when I have questions, takes time out of his day to send me workouts everyday and food ideas. One of the biggest worries of mine is having someone help me but feeling judge, luckily he does not make me feel as if he's judging me. He is very polite and will show me the correct way to do an exercise before all of them and correct me if I do something wrong. He genuinely cares about the safety and goals of his clients. He is fun and keeps the workouts fun and tough! Also, my daughter and I just started working with Coach Maraya for Muay Thai kickboxing and MMA. She has grown up fighting and doing MMA and it shows in her teaching. She's extremely patient, friendly, amazing with kids, and a great teacher. I have been training with Coach Kiana Blankenfeld (@surfmama_kiana) for the last year and it/she has been life changing for me! She has built my confidence in the gym like no other Coach. She's accountable, motivating, organized, dedicated, and just a straight up bada$$ human being. She treats the gym as if it's her own. Organizing what's already there, bringing in new equipment, along with unique classes (like her Surfset class - I've never seen that at another gym). If you are looking for a Coach, consider this your sign. All of my friends I've sent her way feel exactly the same as I do! She is able to meet you where you are at and then guide you to where you want to be, at a reasonable yet challenging pace. I love UFC Kailua! The facilities are always very clean and I always had an easy time navigating their floor for workouts. I purchased a five session package with Coach Joleen when I joined and I highly recommend. She was always on time, friendly, knowledgeable, and was very supportive during our sessions. She worked with my goals and helped teach me how to use equipment I wasn't familiar with. Although I'm now finished with my sessions, Coach Joleen continues to check in from time to time to see how I'm coming along with my fitness goals. Thanks Coach! read more

In comparison to the UFC gym in Honolulu in regard to cleanliness and equipment, , hhrrmm. . health, it's like comparing Lincoln to Trump about honesty and lying. Honestly, the custodian at the Honolulu gym, is Rip Van Winkle reincarnated. If he ever wake up, he'll need all the king's men and horses to put that place together again. Yes, it's that bad. UFC Kailua is clean, could be because it's the newest one, and it's in Kailua and not where Scooter and his cousin/wife resides. Regarding size, let's just say its not Oprah level. More like Joe Pesci like. Women, we all know size doesn't matter, right? Yeah, right, what evah! About the staff, I like them, especially Britney. I spot, walk up and ask for her number, we went out for dinner, got along perfectly and ended the night at my place. YES! Well, actually no. I actually just steal a glance here and there and hit play in my fantasy. lol Parking, lots of parking area, but Kevin Bacon works there. Hollow man will write you a warning ticket if you park longer than 3 hours. Ticket says repeated violators will have to journey to some Mad Max parking overlord. Crowd, the Wizard of Oz would be proud in its diversity. At certain hours, waiting to use an equipment is DMV-like with Shaneekua.at the helm., not the crosswalk wait level, though. Membership fees, I feel like an Indian with a treaty with the Europeans. I joined because it open 24/7. They no longer open 24/7 but I still pay the same.
