I stopped in the Master's Wok for lunch to meet a friend. I was immediately impressed by the striking traditional Chinese woodworking that divides the restaurant into sections. The elaborate ambiance is something you don't often see in restaurants. When I read through the menu I got excited by the all day specials. An entree, rice, and appetizer for less than eleven dollars? They had me! But did it taste good? It was the best Chinese food I have had in years. Delicious! I love the vibe of this place. You don't see Chinese restaurants like this anymore. They have a large menu. Shrimp spring rolls were delicious. Soups were awesome. I got the lo mein noodles and they were good but wished it also had chicken and beef in it like most house special lo mein noodles. It just had shrimp and roast pork. Crab wontons were so good. We frequently drive past this restaurant and thought we'd give it a try because the parking lot is always packed. Unfortunately the food was mid at best. Tried their Cantonese fried noodle as it was a "chef's specialties" but it was burnt fried noodles with a barely edible chicken and veggies on the side. I enjoy' my neighborhood Chinese restaurant. It's nice when the staff knows your name, and usual dish, and that I can't eat broccoli. While my favorite dish is the shrimp LoMein. I enjoy the Hong Kong chicken, beef, and snow peas, as well as the curry chicken. I order at least once a week. read more

Not many Chinese food restaurants to choose from here in Anderson but if you're looking for good authentic Chinese food I highly recommend Master Walk. My wife and I have eaten there twice and had different entrées all of which are very good. I recently had the shrimp chow mein which was very good. They even serve the crispy noodles with hot mustard and red sauce. The service is good with no long wait times. The waitress is quick to refill your drink. At lunchtime there were a lot of people but no wait time. The interior is very authentic like a Chinese restaurant should be. They display an "A" rating which I would agree with. Very clean. However I would prefer authentic Chinese music over 70s elevator music. read more

Walked in, and friendly staff. Very clean and nice atmosphere. Hostess did a great job of sitting diners away from each other - lots of space in here! I was disappointed that the Boo Boo Platter was no longer offered. The hostess explained that they couldn't price it out right - and I can't blame them (it was a lot of food for $7.95). But it would have been a fun dish to have. I have read some comments about their menus, and yes, they have written all over them. I am including some photos so you can see the updated items now being offered - which do not include the 2022 increase of $.50. The WonTon Soup broth was very tasty, and as you can see, there are small slices of pork and onion which added depth. The Cheese Stuffed Wontons (their version of the old "Crab and Cream Cheese") was very good. The Shrimp Spring rolls - forgot 'em. After bite after bite of thinly sliced cooked cabbage, I finally broke out the knife to search for shrimp. There were 3 tiny 1/2" mini shrimp in there. Nothing like Happy China off of Verdae in Greenville (their's are the bomb). So, the Egg Rolls/Spring Rolls I would not recommend. The deep fried Chicken for the Sweet and Sour Dish was very flavorful. You could dip those into any type of sauce and go for it for days. The Sweet and Sour Sauce didn't have much Sour. We were eating most of the hot chili sauce we ordered on the side, so we didn't mind that either. There was a option of ordering half chicken / half shrimp, which we will do next time. I'm anxious to try some of their traditional entrees as well. It's been a long time since I have been to a very old-style Chinese restaurant, but it was enjoyable. Was craving Chinese food and was visiting a friend. This was close to her home. You can't miss this one from the road with it's Chinese architecture. Inside the intricate designs continue with Chinese art and wall murals. Customer service was great. They bring all the items out on a cart. The menu has the typical American Chinese fare. We were there around lunch time. They didn't have lunch specials, but they have a deal where you can make select entrees into a special deal with an appetizer. I ordered some cheese wontons for the table. I got the hong Kong chicken with an egg roll for my meal. The wontons were like crab rangoons and did have a good flavor and plenty of filling and had a light crisp. The dish was okay. Chicken was lightly battered and fried. It was tender. It had a five spice and lemongrass kick. Veggies were crisp but didn't have a lot of flavor. I wish it were in a sauce. The rice wasn't great. It was undercooked and a strange consistency. It was brown but barely had flavor for fried rice. My husband had the Mongolian chicken. It tasted off. The sauce was thick, lacking the sweet onion taste. I've had a lot better. The prices are a little high in my opinion for what you get. But the ambience and service is good. read more

This is as close as you get to Chinatown food in Anderson. Classic tastes are a little dumbed down for the locals. The service in house is usually pretty good and the interior is classic Chinese restaurant. They started as a small local in a shopping center and their score was much higher. The food is the same, nicer presentation, better ambiance. I'd normally give it 4 stars for dumbing it down for the locals, but it's about as close as you get in a 50 miles radius. read more

Good customer service, not so good food. Lo mein doesn't taste like lo mein (had green peppers?). Teriyaki chicken sticks were dry. Chicken wings were bland and dry. DOV: Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018 @ 6:30pm FINALLY! 4-STARS! It took several visits but I was finally able to squeeze 4 stars out of this place. All I can say is, "It's about time!" This is a nice restaurant that should be getting higher ratings than it gets. I would like to see it get its act together and start earning more consistent high marks. The food came out fast and was fresh and hot. I got the House Special Combination Seafood Platter...lobster, sea scallops, and shrimp with Chinese vegetables. This is a rather pricey dish due to the seafood but it is well worth it; it is truly delicious. My server was very good - attentive and prompt. I never needed anything because she checked on me so often. She had several other tables too, so she did a good job balancing her workload. I love the atmosphere of this restaurant. The outside is decorated in an ornate Chinese theme. The building has pagoda style roofing and is colorful and pleasing to the eye. There are statues of Chinese lions (?) guarding the entrance, and the whole scene feels very Oriental. Inside, the place is partitioned off so you sit and eat in little sections rather than just an open room. This makes for a more intimate dining experience. Overall, I am a fan of this place. I would like to see it up its game and become more of a force in the restaurant community. When they are good they are really good. I just want them to be good more often. read more

Your standard Chinese place in a small town. I've been coming here for several years a few times per year. Nothing special but sometimes solid dining experience. What makes it for me is an all day special of several meals that go for about 8 dollars including entree, side of rice, and an egg roll. Value restaurant where they have off and on days, for sure. I enjoy their sesame or honey chicken specials - a ton of food. Servers can be too "pushy" with asking you a gazillion times if you're ok and if you need anything which can be interrupting. Even when I had an issue with my orders, I never spoke to a manager so some of the service could be improved. A solid 3 out of 5. read more

Went tonight for a good meal, was really disappointed. The service was slow, but there was only one waiter. The food was bland. Not at all like my previous visits. Fresh, good flavors, large portions. Not the best around, but it's pretty good. Food is always fresh and the orders move through the kitchen quickly. The food wasn't very good. We had the Mongolian beef and had to send it back because it was nasty - chewy "beef" in a heavy brown gravy. The rice that came with it was the color brown but it wasn't brown rice nor did it taste as though it had been fried. It was brown and bland. We also had the house lo mein. It was at least edible; however, some of the noodles were burnt. Additionally, all the dishes had steam coming off of them but the food wasn't hot. The hot tea wasn't good either. It was quite bitter. The positives include the waitress being responsive, the fried wontons appetizer, and the decor. If you're looking for more authentic Chinese food - do not come here. read more

I fail to understand the appeal of this restaurant. I have been told by friends how great this place is. I don't see it! The food quality is below average and there is food on some Chinese buffet's that has been on the table six hours with better food quality. But what takes the cake is my most recent experience. I take my family to this restaurant and first we are crammed into seating that just does not work. When our food arrived, I was served my meal in my lap! But wait, it's not over. The Food Server was mortified and, in fact, it was an accident. The waitress eventually came to the table to express her concern, but it was not her fault either. The Manager never came by the table, never checked to see if I or the table were okay and, by ommission, never offered to make it right. Unless you like to wear your meal, I would avoid this place at all cost! It is poorly managed and you will be be poorly served some poorly cooked food that you can take in a box or just wear it out. If you are looking for Chinese food, look elsewhere! This place does not deserve your business. I recommend Bamboo Garden or Imperial Grill. One star because I can not give less! read more

This has been my favorite Chinese Restaurant in Greenville or Anderson for about 20 years. Have never had anything bad and I think the have the best Egg Drop Soup, Cantonese Chicken, and Curry Chicken I have ever had anywhere. If you like Asian food, do yourself a favor and don't come here. I order a salad to begin and the waitress asks me if I want ranch, honey mustard, etc... which should tell you the type of people who eat here. The ginger dressing tastes like soy sauce with minced ginger in it by the way. My entree was the sesame chicken (because at this point I'm scared to order anything that isn't super basic and americanized). It was cold and bland which is surprising for all the sauce that was on it. My husband got cheese wontons which were so gross. The cheese was clumpy and cold. He also got chicken fried rice. I'm not sure how you make rice taste bad but they managed. Other items on the menu include sweet and sour cod, sirloin and fried chicken. I could only imagine what those might taste like. They hit hard times and a quality drop for a year or two after the original owners retired, but here recently it's hit it's stride again. I've got to say that this is my favorite Chinese restaurant! They are currently switching to a new location, their new location is very impressive and feels very much like a high end eating experience as soon as you enter the door, though it is still recognizable as Master's Wok. The food itself is delicious! I've tried a pretty wide variety of their dishes and they are all very good. I usually order their Shrimp Fired Rice with an egg roll, but their Imperial Beef is also great if you want something spicy. This place is appropriate for children, though not geared especially for them like your typical McDonald's. The only thing that keeps this restaurant from being a full five stars is that their dishes are not consistently amazing. Sure their shrimp fried rice is really good; but every once in a while (especially if you go not too long before closing time), the rice will be just a tad dry. Other than that, Master's Wok is a restaurant that you will not want to miss! read more
