I don't know the password. I'm told you have to get the password from your hotel concierge, but I don't know that's gonna get you there either. But I do know if you buy a ticket to the basement Delilah's burlesque show, you get automatic entrance. The drinks are fine. Basics like mojito, daiquiri, Cuba libre, rum punch. Martinis, old fashions, corpse reviver, etc. Nothing innovative here, but the very cool seating area is what you're after here. The service is good. The best part is the burlesque show. It was an exceptional hour of entertainment. Since it was October, the girls did Halloween themed shows, like Thriller and zombie dances. Colorful, exciting, exotic, creative. I paid almost 123 dollars for a VIP table (three seats, I was solo, so essentially I paid for three seats at one table) up front. It's a super small venue and the general admission seats are mere feet behind the tables and much cheaper. So I wouldn't recommend the VIP tables unless you're just wanting to spend big for no reason. Loved the Delilah's. It's really the only reason to go to Mata Hari's though. read more

I really was excited to check out Mata Hari's as I love a good speakeasy. The decor was dark and very prohibition style which I loved but unfortunately that's where it ended. The doorman was rude, the bartender was rude and the drinks were overpriced and not up to standard for the price. We were ready to close out and the bartender said she doesn't close tabs and looked at the other bartender, then asked who needed a drink. Also, the women's room had no soap! Just a huge bottle of Purel next to the sink and no paper towels! Not impressed. Won't return on future trips to Savannah. read more

But... this time the venue itself got the demerit as we waited, and waited, and waited, until they finally announced that due to technical difficulties, the burlesque was cancelled for the evening. What a fantastic night! I absolutely loved the ambiance. We had a great time. Staff was very pleasant. The doorman was great and hilarious.

This was my second time coming here, and both times were a blast. It can be kind of tricky to get in as you need a code from one of the local hotels, or one time i visited one of my friends had a skeleton key that gained us all access. Can also be hard to find, but that is kind of the whole thing behind speakeasy's. Once you enter the decor is very fitting and the bartenders are also dressed to the part. If you come at the right time you can catch a burlesque show in a secret room. I went both times I've been and have yet to be disappointed . read more

The Bartender 's were engaging and they made exceptional strong drinks!! We went to the burlesque show . My advice is, don't go save your money. They have vip seating with a table , and only sits a little closer. Don't waste your money . They did 6 different dances . They were fun . They don't show any nudity, not even a flash . I'm not sure why not . Since it is a burlesque show . The host was flat not funny. He tells a story of his whiskey dick . He can't get it up. So he can eat out a woman for an hour. And then he tells the audience you get pills at the local store for $3.95. Then he did a name that tune contest between two women. One woman clearly was winning , but he gets another one to play against her , and then another one . He finally awarded her two free drinks. I think he was stretching it for time. read more

A speak easy vibe, hidden in downtown Savannah. The first challenge is finding it! It's up the stairs in between an alley. There is a nondescript door with a sign instructing you to flip the switch. The second challenge is knowing the password which changes on a weekly basis. You could purchase a key once inside, or call the concierges in the local area for the password. We also caught the burlesque show by the Downtown Delilah's, $35 per person, which also included a quasi comedy show. The entrance for the show was through a cabinet which opened to the stage. Unfortunately, my group was denied at the door so I'm not sure how to truly rate Mata Hari's! We found you on yelp and checked for the business on social media. Found out from a local pedicab how to get to the door. When we excitedly arrived, the security guard came over to ask for a password. We didn't know there was a password required (slight oversight on our part) so we explained that to security. He told us we had to have a password so we started searching for one online. Luckily, a group came out and told us the password when we asked! The security guard overheard and refused us entrance We completely understand the exclusivity and speakeasy style. However, his attitude towards the interaction seemed unwarranted. Isn't learning of the password through word of mouth valid? Anyways, this was a huge bummer to the bride. Less about not getting in and more about the way our bachelorette party was treated. I left a 5 star review because I don't want this to bring the Mata Hari's down. Hmmm I was really looking forward to trying this place...the drink menu is truly prohibition based which I loved. The decor is on point and that's where it kinda stops for me. When the bartender made the candied bubbly it did not match the description from thr drink menu at all which disappointed me considering it was a 16.00 drink. What can I say... it's a a cute place: Been here approximately 5x. First time was 2016. It's creepy vibe and eerily ominous location is a perfect addition to any one visiting the area. If it's you or your guest 1st time to the area, then it's a must see. The speak easy vibe they were going for does a great job of tickling your creepy bone. You will feel like your having a drink in Jack Sparrows basement lounge as you stare at old furniture, creepy bird cages and ... etc. Stop in, take pics.... And enjoy good company as the staff are friendly. Burlesque show is good for quick entertainment. No pictures allowed during the show.... But that's understandable... Con: Drink skills aren't there. Don't expect a great cocktails cause you won't get it. Keep your orders simple... (old fashioned) to increase satisfaction. This place was sooo much fun! We bought tickets to the burlesque show in advance to ensure we'd get in, since we'd read you need a password or tickets. Our tickets were checked at the door. There was a group in front of us that had neither tickets nor the password, but I watched them slip the door man a few bucks and that gained them entry. It was a little tricky to find the door, but the bouncers in the neighboring bars were happy to point us in the right direction. Inside, the bar was spectacular. There were several comfy nooks to sit in or you could play a round of pool. All the decor was antiquey looking, contributing to that speakeasy vibe. Our drinks were delicious and the bartenders were fast and friendly! When it was showtime, a large bookcase opened revealing a secret theater. The theater was small and intimate with no bad seats. And the burlesque show was so much fun! The host had us laughing all night and the dancers were talented, beautiful and sexy. Definitely go check this place out!! (But I wouldn't wear heels! Be brave when trying to locate this venerable speak easy - it's not easy to readily identify in the historic district. Prepare for impressive scrutiny from the doorman and have the key at the ready for presentation. No key, no entry (several folks behind us sans key were swiftly denied admission). The '20s era themed interior was wonderfully executed, however the roaring 20s music was truly roaring - it was too loud for my preference to the point where it inhibited conversation. The audible levels aside, the lighting, ambience and quality of beverages were terrific. Bartenders were friendly and prompt, with I'd say 30 patrons filling the space on a Saturday evening at 1000. The live singer gave wonderful vocal renditions of classic songs which prompted customers to grab their dates and hit the impromptu dance floor accordingly. Pretentious bartenders fussing with excessive and superfluous ingredients is not the same as craft cocktail mastery. I'm sorry but I was very disappointed with this spot......We did the Burlesque show and it was mainly the host doing a comedy show. She was do a bit....the girls would come out for 2 minutes and leave. Then she would do a bit for 5 minutes. We saw the dancers maybe 10 minutes and the host 30 minutes. There was a song contest which someone in my group won. But for the price of the tickets ($35) it wasn't worth it. They did the same dancing but different clothing changes. Also the music they played wasn't for the times I didn't recognize any of the songs but one. The only thing I enjoyed was getting in. You either have to have a password or a key which you can buy from the bartender which I thought was cool. Since we had tickets to show show we were able to get right in. Since I live in this area the only reason I would go back is to experience the bar but never would go back to the show. (By the way the key is $100 for the year) read more

I made it my mission to get into the ultra private lounge on our trip to Savannah. Thanks to Erika W., I was determined not to back out of my mission! We came across the door, and the doorman asked us a few questions and let us inside. We were dressed well (not touristy, walking around attire) and didn't stop by too late, so I'm guessing that helped. Once inside, the decor was on point for a speakeasy. It was small and dimly lit and we loved the vibe. The bartenders were dressed the part and very helpful. We ordered the Mata Hari Martini and our bartender made sure we knew how strong it was. We shared it! It was definitely strong, but good. They had a burlesque show going that night, but we didn't get tickets because there were other stops we wanted to try. Disappointment wrapped in an enigma of surprise. My fiancé and I were so excited when our concierge was able to get us a key for this speakeasy this past Saturday. Like many other reviewers have said though. Inside it is just a mediocre bar. It wasn't packed but it was still impossible to get a bartenders attention. There was a burlesque show but it was in another room and they wanted to charge us $20 more each to go inside. I probably wouldn't have batted an eye at $20 at the door but once I'm inside you want to section off the place and continue charging me to see the entertainment. It seemed tacky and made the bar all the more unimpressive. I would never return here and I would never recommend it. It's only a speakeasy in the sense that it's off of an alley and they ask for a password. Have a much better experience at Alley Cats instead. read more
