After Jordan's annual work party last night, a group of us decided to keep the night going and ended up at McDonough's Restaurant & Lounge. Honestly, it was the perfect spot to land after an event. The place had a great late-night vibe, lively but still relaxed enough to hang out and talk. The staff was friendly and kept things moving even though it was pretty busy. What I love about McDonough's is that it's one of those classic Savannah spots where you can show up dressed up after an event or just casually, and it still feels right. Good energy, good service, and a fun crowd. Definitely a great place to end the night with friends if you're out downtown. read more

This is a cool local spot. They were packed out but they also had karaoke going on which was fun to see and hear. It took a while to get drinks but that was understandable with how busy they are. It was nice they also had security around because we did see an argument that could of easily have gotten physical. I would definitely come back here again. read more

service last night was terrible! this goofy man had on white shirt, white pants tall and goofy acting with a white hat that he had on backwards worst bartender ever! We order our drinks and food with a guy with a long beard then he left and went to other side! that's when goofy came! we waited 1 hour for 15wings and fries people came in after us got there food before us! 3 other customers walk out because he didn't even acknowledge them! Worst karaoke scene ever!! Not the best as it was promoted on the website that prompted my presence. Karaoke night scene should aim for a positive atmosphere, and prohibit singing extremely vulgar or filled with profanity songs. It is extremely disgusting to hear someone dropping f-bombs in the song all night.. Really show how immature they really are more than anything. There is a sign on stage that indicate "No Booing or Whistling" at participants. There is far more decent action that dropping the f-bombs in the songs especially during the summer break and all college kids going crazy with alcohol in one hand and microphone dropping profanity in their choice of music. So sad to see the club actually allow this to happen. :( read more

Amazing Karaoke! The DJ Chris puts together an amazing show, he participates himself and does a great job helping out participants if they are struggling with a song. My only complaint is that too many people sign up, but that's not really a problem, I would just love to get up on stage more. So if you do get thier early (before 9-9:30) as it's packed by 10:30. The staff is super courteous and they do a great job of keeping the patrons in line as the night progresses. Definitely our favorite bar that we've been to in Savannah. read more

We have our favorite bars in Savannah, but we always try and hit up new ones on each trip. Our stop here was out of necessity. It was so cold in Savannah Friday that we stopped in the first place we saw. This was it and it was great! We had a great experience here. No frills. Kinda divey. Great, quick service, but not overly friendly. Just the way we like it. I had an Irish Mule. My wife and daughter had Irish coffees. Drinks were good and we got nice and warm before heading out. While looking at other pics and reviews, this place is pretty famous for it's karaoke and the food looks good too. We go to Savannah pretty regularly, so I'm excited to try McDonoughs again. I think we'll try it on a warmer day. It looks like they have a great outdoor area and another interior bar as well. Great place! read more

Dive joint with decent food and drinks. This was on the list from my AirBNB host. They have a karaoke area and two bar areas. No karaoke when we visited. We came to town quite late on a Wednesday so we were happy to find a spot with a kitchen that's still open at 11:30pm. The main bar area had a bunch of people and they were not social distanced. Thus, we sat in the other room with the karaoke booth, TVs and distanced high top tables and sat on a corner table. The bartenders who served our table were very nice but one of them put down her mask under her chin and I was disturbed by it. She didn't take the hint when I put my mask on every time she came to our table. Hubby had an Ultra Light and I had an Angry Orchard from the tap which was really good. We started with a calamari which was plentiful and crunchy. It was well seasoned. My husband had the Philly cheesesteak sandwich which he said was good but a tad salty. I ordered the fish poboy which was awesome. The fries that come with the baskets were very good. Overall a good bar spot downtown with good food. read more

Hands down Savannah is the most tone deaf ppl per capita so that karaoke they're spinning over there just really knocks some of those screws loose enough to have a good time. If you have any issues ask for Joe but the trick is to tell him his mother makes the best meatballs (he's from New York they love that) . Had such a blast at this place with my new buddy Radu (we happened to stay at the same Airbnb and went on ghost tour and then here after). Super fun crowd, and the bartenders were nice, and Karaoke DJ was super affable and knowledgable about a wide range of music. Funny story..Radu got way too lit, and spilled someone's drink over a few people I didn't see it happen and as I'm listening to karaoke some guy comes up to Radu and says in a perfectly nice way "you spilled my beer, you need to buy me a new one." Rash pulls out a $20 bill and start calling the guy a piece of shit in a Al Pacino from Scarface voice while rubbing it in his face. The guy took it really well, and even came back with a measly 3$ to give him, but Radu says, "you only give me 3$" and throws the bills in his face and starts yelling at him again, repeating what he said before, except multiple times. The guy still keeps trying to make friends throughout the rest of the night but by the end of the night, he finally becomes embittered and with a sour look on his face as he's walking away he tells Radu, You really need to learn how to behave yourself." read more

Female night bartender Sunday , March 24th absolutely amazing personality, super friendly. Idk if the male short dirty blonde hair bartender was having a bad day? But wasn't the nicest to customers in general. Seems high strung wasn't a fan. He literally screamed at everyone to get out without announcing last call, but regardless screaming "if I didn't give you the okay get the fuck out now" at your customers before even doing your first polite announcement is crazy. We had absolutely foul service and experience.While attending a Bachelorette trip we decided to go to this bar specifically for the karaoke. We had an individual under 21 and checked GA state law that they can go in with a parent. We arrived around 9:30. We have time stamped photos at 9:22 taking photos over by the theater. Upon our arrival we showed IDs and were let in. Some of us got on the list for songs and we mingled and made friends. One of the inlaws went up to get NON-ALCOHOLIC drinks for those of us getting ready to sing. She ordered a diet coke and asked for some fruity drinks to the female bar tender. The female bartender offered Long Islands etc. The inlaw politely said no thank you, we don't drink, and we just came for the karaoke. We are a party of 10 and all the rest of us are over 21 and it's a personal choice not to drink. The bartender proceeded to ask "who the f is in my bar under 21". The inlaw explained that we had been carded etc and that we were under the impression that we followed all laws. The female bartender told her to get the f out. The inlaw offered to take the 1 under age girl and leave stating that most of the girls were over age. The inlaw tried to explain that we had been under the impression that we could all be there. The female bartender told her thar she can reserve the right to not serve anyone. The female bartender clapped at her and yelled for all of us to get the f out. The inlaw came over to us and was saying we need to leave and trying to explain what happened. It was not 30 seconds later and none of us even knew what was happening when a bouncer came over. He said no one could be admitted after 9 under 21...even though we had been admitted a half hour after 9 by said bouncer. We said okay and that we were leaving. The female bartender ran over yelling get the f out. Everyone said okay and the female bartender kept clapping and yelling before returning to the bar. I looked to the bouncer and said we were leaving but that's a very unkind way for her to treat people. The bouncer asked us not to escalate and the majority of us walked outside. The bride and her mom walked up to try and get our food we ordered. The bride said she would like her food to go since it was paid for. The bride stated that she didn't appreciate the female bartender's attitude. At this point, some of the girls' credit cards were still at the bar! Later the police had to collect them. The female bartender ripped off her jacket and grabbed the bride's hair and dragged her across the floor. She proceeded to hit her over and over in the head. The bride's mother did not fight back and attempted to remove the female bartender off of her daughter. The female bartender punched the bride's mother in the face, busted her eye brow, and gave her a black eye. At that moment, the rest of us were outside. The mother exited the bar dripping blood escorted by a male employee. The bride had a knot on her head. Most of us tried to attend to them and their injuries. One girl asked a man for the female bartender's name and started to record and he shoved her and told her to get off the property. We were on the part of the side walk that was city property... I told him to leave her alone and that we would go across the street but we would call the police. EMS and cops were involved. Save your money and go elsewhere. We came for dinner time and the atmosphere was good but it was already off to a bad start when it took our waitress 10 minutes to bring menus and ask for our drink order when we were the only ones sitting in that section. The food was decent. It was not to die for. Only one of our two entrees was eatable. Then our waitress left without letting us or another server know. There are two sides or rooms, one of which was full, and the other with two tables of patrons, already a good sign as to the quality/experience. Within minutes we had drinks. I asked for a martini, but they were out of vermouth, so I got a cosmo; delicious and clearly heavy on the vodka! The server gave us a moment to look at the menu online, then took our order, in her head, nothing written; impressive. Appetizers arrived hot and steaming just 10 minutes after we ordered them. Next, we ordered our entrees and those, too, arrived hot and fresh, yet in enough delay to allow us time to finish our appetizers; delightful. All in all, this was the best meal of our entire vacation, this far. Everything tasted great! I especially loved the dry seasoning on the lemon pepper wings and the seasoned fries. I had attempted to eat here back in September when I was visiting Savannah, but they were filming a tv show and were closed to the public. It was definitely worth the wait returning nine months later. McDonough's is a must for both travelers and locals alike.
