I then had cancer treatment that damaged my saliva glands. Zero preventative dental and a lack of sufficient saliva is a horrible combination, dentally speaking. I met the doctor at a hair salon and told her my fears. She looked inside my mouth really quick and said she could help with out me being afraid because "there's medicine for that" and added "I got you girl, come see me". Six months later and of course it's now a dental emergency because it hurts and I need an immediate root canal alongside with "a slew of other work". She made me feel calm and told me she is the best at what she does and would help. She gave me an RX for pain medicine when I left to use until my appointment and another RX to take a few hours before my appointment. She said the 3 pills I take before my appointment will help anxiety and I probably won't remember my dentist appointment. She was right!!! 100% right. My root canal is done. I went in, got the work done and didn't have a panic attack in the process. I cannot thank her enough for her compassion, competence and the kindness of the entire office staff. Oh, of course I still have a dentist phobia, but I also know I have 3 pills to take before my next appointment. There will not be a panic attack and I won't really remember a whole lot. Communication was poor, appointments were not handled efficiently, and I felt my concerns were dismissed rather than addressed. The staff appeared disorganized to my case, and the overall experience left me feeling frustrated and undervalued as a patient. What was most concerning was the lack of transparency regarding treatment recommendations and costs. I did not feel that adequate explanations were provided, making it difficult to make informed decisions about my dental care. I originally came in for a routine cleaning about a year and a half ago with no pain, sensitivity, or concerns regarding my teeth. During the visit, I was told I had a couple of cavities that were not a major concern, but I agreed to have them treated anyway. Since that treatment, I have experienced constant pain and sensitivity that I never had before. I can no longer comfortably bite into foods as simple as chicken without pain, and drinking anything cold causes significant discomfort. What should have been a straightforward procedure has turned into a year-and-a-half-long ordeal. Over this period, I returned multiple times to report the same symptoms. Rather than seriously addressing my concerns, I was repeatedly told that the work had been performed professionally and that the discomfort would eventually go away. Days turned into weeks, weeks into months, and now more than a year later, the pain remains and has only gotten worse. The treatment was redone five separate times, yet the issue was never resolved. Despite acknowledging the ongoing problem by repeatedly redoing the work, the conversation than became that there was no need to continue and that "these things happen with age." This explanation is difficult to accept considering the pain began immediately after treatment and was never present beforehand. What has been most frustrating is feeling dismissed throughout the entire process. During my most recent visit, after more than a year of consistently reporting the same symptoms, I felt as though my concerns were not taken seriously. At one point, I was even left with the impression that the dentist questioned whether the pain I was experiencing was real. No patient seeking help for a persistent issue should be made to feel that way. I have placed a tremendous amount of trust in this healthcare provider. I trusted this office to improve my dental health, and instead I have been dealing with pain, sensitivity, repeated appointments, and unanswered concerns for over a year. I want to make it clear that this review is not directed at the dental assistants or "most" of the front desk and scheduling staff. In my experience, the majority of them were kind, professional, and genuinely seemed to care about helping patients. My concerns are specifically directed toward the individuals responsible for handling my ongoing care. Is what made this such a frustrating and uncomfortable experience.

I had a very difficult upper molar removed here that another dentist prior in Charleston declined to do. He wanted me to see an oral surgeon and I thought I would try Jax Emergency after my husband recommended them to me. Dr. Arrow was patient, took his time and rocked that tooth out in it's entirely with no breaks. Took his time and used rocking persistence- something most dentists do not posses anymore with the rush to high priced cosmetic dentistry procedures. I worked for years chair-side in dental offices in my younger years I can really appreciate application of great basic practices as well as talking a patient through the procedure calmly. I also appreciate in this day and age of greed in the medical industry to not have the price be the motivator to the doctor and practice. I like that the actions were whatever was best for me and my situation. I only wish they did root canals on molars so I wouldn't have to go on a search, but I've been referred to 3 endodontists for consideration for the next procedure. Front desk was very helpful and I was seated shortly after arrival. The assistant was efficient and friendly, updating x-rays after looking at those previously taken at another office earlier this year. Smart move. You don't want a dentist working off of old x-rays. Not ever! Another note I'll go in bed at names was I recognized her from being here a couple years ago which says a lot about the doctor. Many assistance turn through cause of doctors that are too difficult to stay with. Yes, some dentists can be rude to their assistant too! My disappointment at the cosmetic over health $$$$ direction dental care has taken can be noted! Implants implants implants are not for everyone nor can everyone afford seniors who want to preserve their teeth and have good health rather than focus on only appearance get any cost.
