I am extremely disappointed with my experience at this dental office. From start to finish, the level of professionalism and patient care fell far below what I expected. Communication was poor, appointments were not handled efficiently, and I felt my concerns were dismissed rather than addressed. The staff appeared disorganized to my case, and the overall experience left me feeling frustrated and undervalued as a patient. What was most concerning was the lack of transparency regarding treatment recommendations and costs. I did not feel that adequate explanations were provided, making it difficult to make informed decisions about my dental care. I originally came in for a routine cleaning about a year and a half ago with no pain, sensitivity, or concerns regarding my teeth. During the visit, I was told I had a couple of cavities that were not a major concern, but I agreed to have them treated anyway. Since that treatment, I have experienced constant pain and sensitivity that I never had before. I can no longer comfortably bite into foods as simple as chicken without pain, and drinking anything cold causes significant discomfort. What should have been a straightforward procedure has turned into a year-and-a-half-long ordeal. Over this period, I returned multiple times to report the same symptoms. Rather than seriously addressing my concerns, I was repeatedly told that the work had been performed professionally and that the discomfort would eventually go away. Days turned into weeks, weeks into months, and now more than a year later, the pain remains and has only gotten worse. The treatment was redone five separate times, yet the issue was never resolved. Despite acknowledging the ongoing problem by repeatedly redoing the work, the conversation than became that there was no need to continue and that "these things happen with age." This explanation is difficult to accept considering the pain began immediately after treatment and was never present beforehand. What has been most frustrating is feeling dismissed throughout the entire process. During my most recent visit, after more than a year of consistently reporting the same symptoms, I felt as though my concerns were not taken seriously. At one point, I was even left with the impression that the dentist questioned whether the pain I was experiencing was real. No patient seeking help for a persistent issue should be made to feel that way. I have placed a tremendous amount of trust in this healthcare provider. I trusted this office to improve my dental health, and instead I have been dealing with pain, sensitivity, repeated appointments, and unanswered concerns for over a year. I want to make it clear that this review is not directed at the dental assistants or "most" of the front desk and scheduling staff. In my experience, the majority of them were kind, professional, and genuinely seemed to care about helping patients. If I could give more stars I would. This is by far the best dentist I have been to for everything. To start with, the office is very comforting and the front desk ladies are so kind. I always get treated by Dr. Loy who is the kindest doctor I have ever met. I have always had extreme dental anxiety due to previous experiences and was terrified of getting the much needed work done on my teeth. Dr. Loy and her team extracted my wisdom teeth using conscious sedation and it was so quick and easy, and I was very comfortable and at ease. I have also had multiple cavities filled so far and every time I go I leave feeling more confident that I can let go of my prior dental fears. I cannot say enough about the high quality care I have received from this office, and it is affordable! Would recommend to anyone who, like me, wants a calm and easy experience. read more

I've been a few times now for initial exam and xrays- very gentle and quick, cleaning- again, very gentle and fast, a (ewww) root canal (I'm traumatized by a previous experience)- this was not quick, hours of drilling through calcifications- my front tooth had major trauma when I was 11 & now was finally dying. Here- the doctor was very tuned into my pain level and/or how fast my body metabolizes pain killers and kept me comfortable. She really had to work hard to do this root canal. I got crowns on both my front teeth to keep my front teeth all looking the same. And a couple weeks ago I was in for some fillings and extraction and while it was another lengthy visit, but again- a good visit. I go back in a few days for more work and I am very happy with this dental group. Everyone is fantastic. Dr Loy and her assistant, Kneeland are simply fantastic! read more

Had my first cleaning here today after an initial consultation. I've had really bad experiences with dentists in the past, but the hygienist who did my cleaning, Erin, was so nice and chill and made it a really simple experience! I was also SO impressed with the team that did my consultation, and they laid out a schedule, payment estimation, procedure guide, and even a color coded chart for my future dental procedures. They were all incredibly nice and professional and I'm so happy I decided to go with them for my dental needs! read more

My experience was good at first, I liked all of the staff, however the dentist at the St. Johns Bluff location (Dr. Loi I believe?) did cavity fillings for me, stating they were shallow and it would be simple. I never had pain but I decided to get them filled. I had trouble recovering from the first one and after a few months, it was still causing me pain. The dentist took a look and said she had to re-fill it. She gave me the novicane injection but it was in the wrong area so I felt the drill. I told her this and she gave me a second injection, but didn't wait for it to take effect so I was in pain and crying the entire time. The only comfort was the poor dental assistant who was in there patting my arm. Unfortunately, this filling did not resolve the pain after all of that. So now I have to go to a different dentist to try and fix this. read more

I had an urgent situation, needing my bridge crown reattached. I live in the mid-Atlantic region, so no dentist in the Jacksonville area. I called SEVERAL dentists offices to have my crown repaired, but most offices were closed or no appointments. Martinez was not only open but offered me an appointment in less than 24 hours! I was happy to be fit in, but always anxious to see a dentist, well, WOW, just WOW!!! Everyone was so welcoming and competent. The care team was so gentle and kind. Go here! That's all I can say. I arrived to my teeth cleaning appointment on time but I realized I did not have a COVID mask to enter the office as they require. I apologized and told the receptionist I did not have a mask. She responded that they would have to cancel my appointment as they did not provide masks for patients. Now think about it: I am supposed to pass through the office wearing a mask then I take the mask off as the hygienist cleans my teeth for 40 minutes or so and the dentist checks my mouth. I am, in no way anti-masking, but I find this a little contradictory. But it's an office policy and I am fine with that. The receptionist told me they would have to cancel my appointment and a patient who was paying her bill shook her head in disbelief and told me she would go to her car and give me a mask. The receptionist told me my hygienist was still with a patient and I should take a seat until they could resolve the problem. There were several people paying their bills while the woman returned to the office with a spare mask for me. "Thank you for your generosity," I told her and put the mask on. I continued waiting. As I sat there and steamed over their petty behavior, I realized I could not be a victim to their irrational business practice. I walked over to the receptionist and said, "This mask thing is very irritating and I cannot believe you cannot provide your patients with a COVID mask. I've always thought you charge too much and you can mark me as no longer being a patient of yours." The dentist's wife walked up and snappily remarked, "Well, that is YOUR prerogative!" Forget the fact that my wife and I have been patients for 10 + years. Forget the fact that all of my doctors happily provide FREE COVID masks if I happen to forget to bring my own. Look, I am no loss to this dental conglomerate. I am a patient with a fairly healthy mouth and I am not much more than a regular dental cleaning patient. These people spend thousands of dollars on print and TV advertising and they are in the business of patients looking for new teeth or major dental procedures. They could care less whether I am a regular patient or not. I spend $1,500 per year on dental insurance and they always manage to sneak in a co-pay. "Pettiness" best describes their stupid mask policy and the way they bombard you with reminders via text and email of upcoming appointments. They also clearly announce that they will charge you for any missed appointment. What they really need to is lighten up and appreciate all patients - not just those who spend thousands of dollars and who are the ones who support the office's inflated advertising budget. I am now in search of an old school dentist who appreciates and respects their patients. No, no TV dentists for me... read more

They are awesome as I have the option to have them text me when I am due for a cleaning and can confirm my appt via text. The office is beautiful and is in a great location. The staff is very professional. I have never had to wait. They run on time!!The hygienist is always wonderful and thorough. The Dentist is always pleasant. I can not express into words the comfort and genuine care the entire staff showed me(I can not think of everyone's name but it was a bunch of amazing and beautiful women.) I called because I cracked half of my tooth, I am terrified of the dentist and I do not have insurance. from the moment I first called to make an appointment to the time that I left and entire time between the ladies were so gentle, caring and making sure I was ok. i mean who wants to be at the dentist from 8am-1pm but they all tried to make me as comfort as possible the entire time (even during a root canal talking to me and offering comfort). Called to reschedule because I'm pregnant and super nauseas at the moment so didn't want someone's hands in my mouth and they insisted on charging me a cancellation fee. Regardless they suck - the main dentist doesn't know what she's doing. Tried ripping my implant out with plyers because i told her it popped off while flossing ... now i have issues with it always since she tried pulling it off. don't recommend at all they are the worst. read more

A very caring dentist office I am extremely afraid of the dentist and have avoided going for years. I finally gave in when things became so bad I knew I needed to go to the dentist. I made an appointment and they fit me in before I could chicken out of going. Dr. Loy was very nice and gentle. She did the exam and told me what work I needed. She was able to prescribe me some anxiety meds to take the night before and morning of the procedures. As I have so much fear, she grouped the work to be accomplished in as few appointments as possible. The day arrived for the first procedure and I survived..... She was very reassuring and professional throughout that visit and the subsequent visits. I eventually completed the needed work and went for a cleaning. The hygienist was also very gentle and professional. I still have fear of the dentist but can go to Martinez Dental knowing that they will do right by me. I have also dealt with Dr. Jose Martinez and he was incredibly kind and gentle, also. I HIGHLY recommend Martinez Dental Solutions (they have 2 locations). I also have to say how pleasant the front desk personnel are. Michelle is the manager (??) and files the insurance. She is the most patient person and so friendly. She intervened for me when my insurance company was having issues with my plan. She worked with them and me to make everything come together. read more

Leaving this review for a coworker that had a traumatic experience here. She opted to have her tooth pulled instead of a root canal and apparently the dentist (if you can call her that) wasn't too happy about that. Probably because it's less money in her pocket. My coworker, deena, told them how nervous she was. The poor assistant was so sweet and tried to be helpful, but deena was in tears. Shaking, crying and scared to death. The dentist jerked her head back and forth and was extremely rough, and eventually BROKE PART OF HER TOOTH OFF. So that required more drilling before she could get it completely out. I don't know what kind of facility is being run here, but it's just absurd that she was treated this way. Definitely would NOT recommend! read more

I went to get two wisdom teeth extracted and I was really nervous because I hadn't been to the dentist in 6 years! But all my worries melted away because the staff was so nice and understanding! The dentist kept saying if you feel any pain just let us know and we will give you another shot to numb you. They even called me later that day to make sure I was still doing alright. I felt like my own mom was there doing my surgery with how nice she was! I highly recommend this place! read more

One of the WORST dental experiences I have ever had. When scheduling, I set my appointment for a dental cleaning as a new patient. I received a call the day prior stating their A/C went out and would need to reschedule. We rescheduled to two days following, completely understandable that they do not want their patients in the heat. Upon arrival, I waited nearly 20 minutes past my scheduled appointment time. This happens, so again, I did not hold this against the office. Once seated and taken back by the hygienist, red flags were raised as I noted the small mirror tool that is used within the mouth was still dirty. I could tell the hygienist tried to cover this up, but I noticed. He then began x-rays, which there was no hygienic-plastic covering for the mouth piece. Red-flags left and right, chair appeared dirty, tools dirty, and dirty x-ray device inserted into my mouth. I should've left then, but being non-confrontational, I stayed. The hygienist then disappeared following x-rays, and I sat there waiting.. waiting.. waiting. The doctor then came in the room, brought up my x-rays, and then told me I had four cavities that would need to be drilled in SEPARATE APPOINTMENTS because of how "uncomfortable" it would be for me to have my mouth numbed for four. Yet, all "cavities" were at the same location in my mouth - bottom left. She then got up, and left me sitting there waiting AGAIN. I sat waiting for another 15 minutes before ANOTHER hygienist came in and told me that I could leave. WHAT! I came for a cleaning! POOR communication on all levels by staff. I then went to the front desk where I expressed my major concerns regarding this miscommunication about my cleaning, which I was then told that the individual in office who scheduled me should've told me they don't clean teeth in the first exam. Huh? This is a dentist office, your sole job is to ensure the health of teeth and you don't clean them in the first session? I was then charged via insurance for an exam (which didn't even occur), I was charged $15 for the x-rays... which my current dentist cannot even access as the office won't release the imagery. BEST PART: I returned to my former dentist and the "four cavities" do not even exist. I was LIED TO and miscommunicated to. I will be reporting this office to my insurance for fraud as I was not given an exam and was charged for it. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS OFFICE! I am unsure how they have decent google reviews, as this was the worst experience I have ever had. Will never refer anyone here. read more
