Me and my husband came in and we found a living room set that we liked a lot, we got a tv stand, a small side table and a coffee table they all had those in stock so we took those home the same day, the couches had to be ordered because apparently they were out, it took about a whole hour just to check out, because there computer kept glitching out multiple times and things were being entered wrong and all that, after we were finally done we went to the warehouse to pick up the tables and stuff they only had two pieces of our furniture and had no idea where the third one was, after another hour they finally found it, and we're still waiting on our couches to come in it's been a month and a half now and no couches just customer service keep giving us estimated days that's it, honestly probably won't be shopping here anymore if they have to be ordering things in, I under stand the whole COVID thing and it takes longer but really a month and a half and I still don't know when the next estimate time will be because customers service said the supervisor will email me or call me back and it's almost been an hour now. UPDATE: Yeah so update we finally got a call later on, the sales person was suppose to keep us updated, he ended up getting fired and so no one told us about that so we got no updates at all and no ones else couldn't even call us and update us so we were in the dark this whole time, we have to go back to the store after My husband gets off and pick out new couches because now the actual time to get our couches will be may or March of next year, might just ask for our money back, 2 thousand dollar couches plus coverage/insurance on them, we've been waiting on and couldn't even update us or have someone else update us... read more

Don't shop here unless you like having to constantly call to ask when your piece of furniture will come in because they lied to you multiple times about it. And then have to wait 3+ months to get all your furniture. We were shopping for a couch that would currently be in stock, the salesman helped us find one that we really liked. We also bought the ottoman that goes with it. Since this was the first piece of furniture we have ever bought, we didn't think to ask if the ottoman was in stock, we just assumed. We bought both (couch/ottoman) in late July. The couch was delivered early August. They told us we'd get the ottoman by the middle of September. Almost two months have gone by and we haven't gotten our ottoman yet! Now they say it will be December. I'm not counting on it! read more

Update - Mathis sent out a very experienced gentleman with great customer service skills to check the buffet. When he turned it on it's side it was apparent that all 4 legs were in different places on the bottom of the piece due to the manufacturer pre-drilling the holes incorrectly. He advised to return the defective buffet, hand select a replacement from the others in stock and they would pick up the defective one when they delivered the new one. We made an attempt to do just that but they had exactly zero in stock in the distribution center and it will be another 2 weeks (minimum) before more arrive. So...though the delivery people were unprepared, Mathis did step up and give the issue the attention it needed. While we are now waiting for them to pick up the buffet in a couple of days we are hopeful that this will end on a better note than yesterday did. I would still not use the delivery service because no one on that team of three had the gumption to actually look at what they delivered and see that the buffet was not standing properly - they just wanted to get back to the warehouse so they could go home. But Mr Jones - a man knowing the product and the company - came prepared to fix what was wrong (which couldn't happen) and he leveled the dining chairs while he was here. read more

We ordered patio furniture in April, hoping to use it this summer, and were told it should be available in May. By the time May rolled around, we were told it would be June. Then it was July. Then it was end of August. Now we were told it will be November. Needless to say we are extremely frustrated. To add to it, the customer service has been horrendous. We found out about the delays only because WE called to find out where the furniture was. Feels like they take your money and forget about you. When I asked to speak to the store manager, I was told he was not there and I would have to call back. At this point I feel like they should be doing some of the work and trying to contact me. We have learned our lesson. We will be requesting a refund, taking our business elsewhere, and would advise others to proceed with extreme caution. read more

Tiny was very helpful. Knew not to push me. Offered options. I was a an easy an easy sale. I knew what I wanted. Only thing I didn't like was on the delivery, my cushions to my furniture were not wrapped. They were laying on the dusty floor of the delivery truck. The delivery guys were nice and they were on time. Value wise.. good selection (except for the tacky overstuffed chairs and sofas), ease of transaction (in and out) but you pay a premium for that. They say "no shopper stalkers" but we were asked if we need any help quite a few times. The store gets pretty busy on the weekends or around holidays so, if you can try to go during the week. They have special deals for zoo passes every once and a while. Nice selection of furniture, desks, mattresses, rugs, bed frames, office chairs, and bunk beds. They also have a small coffee shop tucked away in the front corner. Purchased a sectional, 6 dining room chairs, a pub table with 4 chairs, and 2 occasional chairs. They said all were in stock. On delivery day they delivered one of the 6 dining room chairs, pub table chairs but no table (out of stock), and the sectional. The sectional started wrinkling the first day, and the pub chairs were dimpled. Out of stock items were apparently on back order so we contacted them to come get everything they delivered. Waited 2 weeks and called ... they said it wasn't in the system. Scheduled again for today and they said it would be picked up between 9:33 and 11:33 (odd times). Gave us a tracking number that said pickup was scheduled between 10:20 and 10:50. Took the day off from work and waited 4 hours with still no pickup. Will not be going back to Mathis Brothers anytime soon. read more

Bought several pieces of furniture including a dining table with a leaf. We were renovating so did not open the table for a couple of weeks. When we did the table would not expand and when we tried to close it back together it would not join. Called customer service sent pictures of broken piece. Called back and now they say a repair man must come out to FIX our brand new unused table. read more

Read the fine print in the extended warranty!!!! It's great if you accidentally damage an item but it's not a full extended warranty. Also I purchased a sofa and love seat and they have already been here 2 times to deliver and they were both damaged! I'm currently waiting on round 3, and hopefully they will get it right. Not happy that I have to sit around for 3 days just to get undamaged items. Make me wonder if the quality of there stuff is just not that great. read more

The furniture is nice. The store is nice. The sales people are nice. But... The furniture protection plan is a scam. Do yourself a favor and read the fine print. I count this as money lost and a very expensive lesson learned. I purchased the Furniture Protection Plan along with a couch. Trying to utilize this plan has been such a huge pain in the posterior. Take my advice: don't buy it and save yourself a few hundred dollars. When you actually need to use the plan, they won't follow through and they will give you the run-around. In the end, the customer service rep told me they would send a tech to my house to assess the stain, but that I would have to pay out of pocket! Which is completely insane considering I paid for this service when I bought my couch! The money they want you to spend on their phony plan would be better spent on hiring a place like Stanley Steemer to come and remove a stain. (Which is exactly what I did after fighting with these heinously rude people all day.) read more

I'd never been to Mathis Brothers before. Years ago, my boyfriend and I had discussed getting a recliner for our spare bedroom. Seems simple, right? Not with me. I want it to be cute, I want it to be comfy, and ideal for curling up with a book or yarn. I'm not easy to please when it comes to recliners. They're important pieces of furniture! I thought he was full of it when he said we'd definitely find something at Mathis Brothers. Years later when I actually was able to go inside, I finally believe him. Sure, you've seen it on TV. You've seen their bajillion recliners on their commercials. But that's just for show, right? I mean, it's TV. NOPE. You know car dealers? With row upon row, hundreds of cars everywhere? Yeah. That's this place. But with recliners. And sofas. And chairs. And tables. And basically every single thing on the planet you could ever want for your home - even little globes or bookends for decoration. This place is MASSIVE, people. Take the biggest furniture store you've ever been in, and imagine it 50x larger. It's so gorgeous. Alright. So you can definitely find a recliner here. Well, you can basically find anything you need for your house here. Anyways. Now, lets discuss their clearance section. Their clearance section is ridonkulous. (Make sure to tell the vulture salesmen you see that's where you're headed. They'll leave you alone.) Things that are $800+ will be marked down to $150, $200...I mean ridiculously reduced prices. "Certainly there's something massively wrong with the item?", you think. Ehhhhh, no. Almost everything back there is there because of a "scratch," a "missing stitch," crazy, tiny things like that. Things that you can't even really see. You can get an entire house full of gorgeous, perfectly usable and beautiful furniture for pennies on the dollar. It's crazy. They even have mattresses back there. Tempur Pedic mattresses, Serta, every freaking mattress brand under the sun is back there, marked down to ridiculously low prices. Okay. Now that you know that you can get crazy awesome deals here, lets talk salesmen. *Dun dun DUNNNNNN* They're commission based. It's a furniture store. (Remember the car lot comparison?) Unlike car salesmen though, these guys (and a few gals), are impeccably dressed. Seriously, they all looked amazing. (Not in a creepy way.) As an introvert, I was more than happy to field the salesman that approached us to my extroverted boyfriend, but even then, he was collected and "chill" when he did speak to me to make the occasional suggestion for the corner table we were there for. Now, what was *really* nice about this guy? He was totally cool with us possibly just getting a cheap corner table. He wasn't pushing us to get a tiny designer table that cost an arm and a leg. He pointed out several lower-priced items himself, which honestly impressed me and made me feel more at ease. I don't do salesmen, but the guy was really nice when he did interact with me, and I appreciated him not trying to strangle us into a large purchase we didn't want to make, even though he's commission based. Overall, I wouldn't shop for furniture anywhere else unless (for some seriously weird reason) Mathis Brothers didn't have what I was looking for. Which is really, really unlikely given their massive selection, but hey. Anything's possible. It was a great buying experience, and I'd highly recommend them. read more

DO NOT place an order for furniture from this place, unless they have it in stock where you can actually lay eyes on it. I ordered furniture the first week of 9/2020, and paid for it IN FULL. I was told it would arrive in approx 8 weeks. I expected it before Thanksgiving. Two days before Christmas, I went in the store and was told it was expected to arrive at their facility the next day. In January, still no furniture, so I called. "Byron" said he called the plant and my furniture should arrive in 6 weeks - in mid-February. It's MARCH now. Still no furniture - approx 6 mos after ordering it!!! I called today, and was just transferred to someone's voicemail box. I called back and asked to speak to a manager. I am highly upset with your companies customer service that I received yesterday to have been spending so much money and entrusting your company with my furniture needs. I purchased a bed frame and box spring for $1100 on 2-10-2021, I attempted to purchase a mattress from the clearance section for $1,000 but was not able to due to the store closing early because of weather and I was financing, therefore I had to wait until the Mathis brothers section was open the next day to come back and purchase my mattress. When I purchased my bed frame and box spring, I also purchased protection and delivery... as well as the rewards program. I came back the next day to purchase my mattress and asked the cashier if I could include the mattress with the rewards, protection, and delivery purchase due to the circumstances of your company closing early. She does not respond, and hands me a receipt... on the reciept that she charged me for delivery and set up, without me even confirming I wanted it!!! I asked her why she charged me for shipping and she said she can't include what I purchased from the other transaction. She told me this AFTER she charged me, I told her I do not want to repurchase that and that I'll just come to pick up the mattress. She doesn't say anything and hands me another receipt without the shipping, protection, and set up. I checked my credit card last night and she charged me three times!!! For one mattress, my card was charged for over $3,000. The customer service was horrible! read more

Over a year ago we bought all new furniture for our family room from Mathis Design Studio. We also purchased a recliner that was a special order. We were told it would take 28-32 weeks to receive the recliner. It actually took 10 months but the real problem is the electric recliner did not work when delivered. What proceeded was numerous technicians, each saying they had to order a part (different parts for different technicians) each time taking 1-2 weeks to get in. Then each time we would be put on waiting list for repair 2 weeks out. No help from Service Dept or our salesman to try to help except sending us a $125 gift card. I don't want a gift card, I want the chair fixed! Now, we have had a several thousand dollar chair in our home for over 2 months and it STILL does not work. Another part on order ( who knows when that will be in) and of course repair appt will be at least 2 weeks out after receiving. We have bought a lot of furniture from Mathis throughout the years, but that will not be happening in the future! read more

Beware of mathis Brothers furniture. We Paid for 'deluxe delivery. ' delivery guys never took furniture off the truck, told us it won't fit without ever bringing it into the house. When we went back we were misled and told no refunds, only store credit. After selecting new merchandise using credit, still waiting for merchandise, everytime i call, I'm given different arrival date. We purchased a large, expensive Hooker TV console a couple of weeks ago, just one of many purchased at Mathis Brothers (and all the Mathis-owned properties all over this city doing business under other names) over the years. Although our salesperson Natalie was great, the interaction since have left me swearing not to set foot there again. I find my EXACT Hooker TV console at Dillards...about $100 cheaper. I remember our salesperson telling me about a 30 day option because she knew what I really wanted was an antique to serve the purpose and just couldn't locate the right thing at the time. It did make me feel better to know that I could, in the unlikely chance I found just the right thing within the next month, return it and "reselect" (even if it was something small and insignificant she said). So I inquired after I found my same piece at Dillards...also known as the most-ricidulously-priced-place-to-buy-ANYTHING about a price-match guarantee as I was still withing a couple weeks of my purchase. I eventually I heard from Curtis Tucker, long after I returned home and had the time not only to see the piece in person (where I was standing when the inquiry was made), but also to look it up on Dillards website. He said, sure they'd match the price I found...with a few stipulations... First, I have to get a quote from Dillards. I told him I have it...in fact I have the entire specs from their website, which I have now had time to access and thoroughly check out. Nope, he says, websites don't count (because if they honored those, someone would bring in some bargain-basement price from some store in North Carolina, he said). What I have is the printed information which clearly states "This items is not available for internet purchase" and is ONLY available in Dillards stores (I'm pretty sure they are familiar with Dillards as a whole and that they aren't really a bargain-basement store in NC). Okay, I play along. IF I go to the trouble to GO BACK to Dillards and get a hand-written quote, bring it to him, he will give me store credit for the difference. Okay...let's make this as difficult for the customer as possible so they won't expect you to follow through...I get it. So if I jump through all these hoops, you're going to give me STORE CREDIT to spend IN YOUR STORE. That's not really a price-match, buddy. Certainly not the 30 day assurance I had if I wanted to return it...and I'm not even asking for anything that crazy...just honor the price of the competition (who I'm sure has plenty of profit margin in it, so I'll bet the Mathis boys can survive on the same) with something real and reasonable to suggest to your customer that you stand behind what you sell. I think I'll let you keep your $100 (that I would really have to EARN by jumping through those hoops), and just make a pact to shop only at select few NOT Mathis-owned properties all over this city doing business under other names. The good : Mathis Bros has a wide selection of what I consider to be "standard" furniture, but nothing exotic or non-mainstream. The store is staffed with a friendly and helpful sales personnel. The not-so-good : Most items are overpriced and can be obtained elsewhere in town for 15-20% less. The bad : The purchase process is very time-consuming and 3X more complicated than it needs to be. If you are purchasing multiple items, taking immediate delivery on some and picking up the remainder later, you can count on the paperwork being done wrong, and making multiple visits to the cashier and front door "check-out" areas to correct everything. read more

Best advice you'll ever get about this joint::::: when you walk in the door, step brightly to the Customer Service kiosk that is always manned, you'll see it and make the following statement...enunciate clearly and distinctly and make/hold eye contact with the person at the kiosk:::: "I'm a paranoid schizophrenic and I can't STAND to have someone hound me from the second I walk in and follow every step I make throughout this large, well stocked store! I'll find someone if I want to buy or quiz you about ANYTHING AT ALL! Thank you!" of course, if you need help, work that salesperson like a red headed step-child's rented mule that you've borrowed.....they're cool with that, which is a good thing when you have questions or want to know or see.... seriously, there's a difference between being stalked and being served.. that said I love the selection, there's a lot of EVERYTHING here...I bought a $2500 sectional couch, which was delivered with a big grease smear on one of the cushions..the bottom cushion..they're still trying to hook me up with a BACK cushion to replace it, even after I carried the 36" square seat cushion in to show them it was a SEAT...but they're trying...the delivery guys were very diligent and noticed it right away, wrote it on the invoice..great delivery men! I have faith it will be replaced before Memorial Day. We walked out with a queen bedroom set two sofas and the best part was that it was within our budget!! I highly recommend this furniture store.. I just have one complaint!! WORST WORST customer service experience I've had in a while. For starters, we found the bed we wanted to buy on our own. The sales person who swooped in at the last minute to cash in on a commission did nothing to help us choose the bed we wanted, but that is fine. We wanted to be left alone and not circled by vultures while we were looking around. We bought a pretty expensive bed and were about to be out of town for a week so we scheduled delivery for two weeks from the purchase date. We were told the bed was currently out of stock, but was scheduled to be in that week so we would have no problems getting the bed on our delivery date, mind you 2 weeks from our purchase date. We inquired about a special order (customizing the fabric and color), but that would take about 6 weeks and we didn't want to wait that long. The day of delivery came and we called Mathis Brothers because no one had called us to confirm a date or time (that should have have been our first clue something was wrong). When we called we were told the bed was still out of stock and they wanted to reschedule delviery. No apology for the fact that we were sitting around waiting for our new bed, no apology for not calling ahead of time, nothing. After some heated conversation we were transferred to a sales manager who told us there was no way this bed was going to be in stock on our delviery day and our sales person, Chelsea, should have told us that when we bought it. She was also supposed to call us the week of delviery and let us know that there would be no delivery. The sales manager at least recognized that she messed up and waived her commission and took another 5% off the total price, equally a 10% discount but assured us it would be in the next week. He also explained that "she was new." We took the discount and waited until the next week. The following week we called the day before to confirm since, again, no one called us and we were told the bed was STILL OUT OF STOCK. Again, no one called us. This time we did talk to our sales person who was completely rude and tried to blame us for the bed not being in stock. Mind you, this is 3 weeks from purchase date. She even went so far as to call us by the wrong name while talking to us on the phone. I assume our sales person, Chelsea, is independently wealthy given that her job is commission based and has 0 customer service skills nor does she appear to care about customer satisfaction. It's one thing to have shitty customer service at McDonalds, but when you are literally spending thousands of dollars it is completely unacceptable. DO NOT SHOP HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO DEAL WITH A BUNCH OF LIARS!!!!! We spent thousands of dollar at Mathis Brother for the last few months to get furniture for our future house. However, we will NEVER come back here after our last horrible experience. We ordered a love seat online few week ago. We had to put in 10% deposit on 7/14 because the internet sale person said they will not carry that brand anymore. On 7/28, they said our love seat will be delivered on 8/20 between 12-2:30 pm. My husband had to take a day off to wait for the delivery. It passed 2:30pm and he DID NOT received any phone call. My husband had to call customer service HIMSELF to find out that the love seat was damaged and there was no delivery. He spoke to 3 different people, including the manager. The said they will honor us with $100 refund due to botched delivery/ inconvenience. THEY KEPT TELLING MY HUSBAND TO CALL THEM BACK AFTER THE DELIVERY TO RECEIVED $100 REFUND. They also said that they will have managers call us (EITHER MARCUS OR SHAWN/SEAN) since this is the last love seat and they don't carry it anymore. However, no one called back. On 8/27, they finally delivered the love seat. So we called to ask for the honor of the botched delivery LIKE THEY TOLD US TO. I spoke to Danelle, insisting to speak to the manager. She said she is the manager there and didn't want to transfer me to the sale manager. We had to raise our voices in order for her to transfer us to the sale manager. It took us 20 minutes on the phone just to be told that there is no note on our profile about the honor for the inconvenience. We spoke to Marcus (sale manager) and he had an attitude with us. Both of them were lying and said there was no note about our situation. After a long argument, he said he will offer us a $50 gift card. ARE YOU SERIOUSLY? IS IT THE WAY YOU TREAT YOUR VALUED CUSTOMER? IS $100 THAT MUCH TO YOU? YOU WILLING TO LOSE A CUSTOMER BECAUSE YOU DID NOT KEEP YOUR WORDS? I DON'T NEED $50 GIFT CARD BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO DEAL WITH THEIR LYING BUSINESS ANYMORE. WHEN YOU SAID THERE WAS NO NOTE ON OUR PROFILE, YOU THINK WE'RE LYING TO YOU? My husband and I recently visited Mathis Brothers with the intent of buying a couch. Once you walk in the main door someone is all over you and does not leave you alone. They ask what you are looking for which is helpful, but then they don't let you roam the store freely. I found this very frustrating as I couldn't even express my opinion to my husband without the salesman being in on the conversation. Our experience ended with me saying to my husband I just want to leave in one of the small moments the salesman stepped to the side. This was one of the most uncomfortable shopping experiences I have ever had and I was so grateful when we left. Definitely not the fun shopping experience I was hoping for :( read more

This is in regards to order #9600299686 for my disabled Veteran son. Your talking head got on and previously assured us it would be arriving that day or the next! NOPE! The least you could do is refund the $159 "shipping" fee as the shopping part is not occurs f as promised. It was purchased APRIL 13, 2019 and we were told 2 weeks at that time?! I bought 2 mattress covers recently and then tried to return them. One I opened and realized it was the wrong size when I tried to put it on the bed (my fault), the other one I didn't open because they weren't the same as the one I purchased before. They didn't have the microfiber top and they had a strong chemical odor to them which makes it unusable for me with my allergies. These were definitely not the same quality as the one I have purchased here before, which is why I came back to purchase 2 more. Way too expensive for what they are, but if you buy them "with" the mattress then supposedly they warranty the mattress against stains. If you buy them on their own then obviously there is no warranty, so you might as well just get them somewhere else cheaper. They let me return the unopened one with no problem but wouldn't let me return the opened one which unfortunately for me was the one that was the wrong size. read more

The thing that confuses me about this store is their approval process for the 90-day no interest deal. The only thing I can think of is that they are comfortable with their monopoly-like model within the OKC market, and therefore have no interest in customer service or customer satisfaction. I furnished an entire house in one purchase. Bob Mills has a 60-month no interest offering, and MB only has a 90-day same as cash deal. I asked our MB sales rep if they would be willing to extend the 90 days any given their competitors 60-month offer, and given the fact that I was about to spend a lot of money on furniture...two things that I assumed would get us an extra month or two. She made some calls, and was told no...over the phone. They did no credit check, no discussion, nothing. The MB sale's rep tried hard to help us by making several calls, but it was obvious whoever she was calling on the other line had no interest in helping, or even extending the courtesy of coming to speak with us. So, we went to Bob Mills and had a great experience. We furnished our entire house in a little over 3 hours. The Bob Mills furniture is excellent quality, and a few months into the purchase we know we made the right decision. Bob Mills has a customer for life, and obviously we'll never go back to MB. read more

Very dissatisfied with customer service and delivery team. They were not professionals. We ordered our furniture about 1 month back. The salesman was super good (as they should be). Our furniture was on back order. When it arrived in store, I received an email. Walked in the store, talked with the customer service about the 24 month no interest option I was offered when we ordered the furniture. She was clueless on how it works as it is managed by some third party. She was even rude and won't provide any details. Ultimately, I ended up making a lumpsum payment. I requested delivery time any day after noon. She scheduled me after two days and mentioned that the delivery team will get in touch with me with exact delivery time. As soon as I left the store, I got a call from the delivery guy telling me that the furniture will be delivered tomorrow. I said is it tomorrow or in Thursday (2 days later)? He said, ohh sorry it is on Thursday. I mentioned him at that time that we wanted delivery after noon, as morning times are not good for us. He said, I should expect a phone call/text message within 24 hours of our delivery. Next day, I got an automated text message saying my furniture will be delivered between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. I called the number provide and informed that 11:00 will not work for us.....anytime after noon is fine. I was told OK. Next day morning (day of delivery), the driver called me at 10:00 and said that we are on our way....I said I cannot accept it before noon.....he was extremely rude and said either it is in next 45 mins or you will have to wait another 10 days as they have already scheduled their deliveries 10 days out...... Overall, the sales people are good in selling you stuff, but rest of the staff (customer service and delivery guys) are just trying to get you off.....not helpful at all! Very poor customer service. This store is not what it used to be. Once they started trying to make their money on delivery charges ($350 to deliver about 3 miles) and $69 per year for special membership, it is a downhill slide from here. They also don't have the volume of furniture in stock as before, so you are expected to wait however long it takes. If I was a supplier, like Bernhardt, I would look for a different presence in Oklahoma City. read more

Ok, so my friend bought a couch here. It's been less than 8 months, paid for warranty, delivery, etc....Couch is coming apart at the seams, sent pics, etc. It has staples poking people's legs. So, we called and they told her that she has to pay $90 to have them pick it up and repair it????? Why should the customer have to pay because the couch is falling apart? I've never heard of such! It's not her fault it's falling apart. The "manager " was extremely rude and said it's a 3rd party mover. But, then said if we bring it in, they'll reimburse us for gas???!!!! WTF??? I said pay the movers instead! I was told their gas tank was bigger.....ugh!!!!!! read more

Horrible experience!!! We ordered furniture in February 2020. Four months later and two appointments for delivery still no furniture. We took off work for the first promise of delivery and nobody even showed up, not even a phone call. The next day we were told they would deliver the furniture in two weeks. We received two emails confirming delivery date plus a phone call to remind us of our delivery appointment. Again we took off work and we hired two teenagers to take our old furniture to Goodwill. At 5:45pm on the day of our scheduled delivery we called to find out where the delivery guys were. We were told the furniture was not even put on the truck. Nobody called, nobody emailed, and no delivery. I would recommend finding a different store to purchase La-Z-Boy furniture. This is the worst "buying" experience I've ever had, even worse than buying a used car. read more

We received a call from Benardo,the young man that sold us the mattresses and he told us to take the micro fiber sheets off and I put my lands End cotton sheets on and it made all the difference in the world with the cooling mattress cover they are nice and comfortable. He said the microfiber sheets are more for winter as they hold the heat. We are completely satisfied with our purchase now. read more

Everything about the shopping experience at Mathis Brothers is dreadful. The moment you step in, you're tagged by a salesperson who stands close by and acts like they're folding something or cleaning a couch. They're not, though because, at that moment in time, their sole responsibility is to wait for you to say to your S/O or family member something along the lines of "what do you think of this one?", at which point they'll suddenly swoop in on you with a line like, "this is a great sleeper sofa from Jonathan Louise. Are you folks looking for anything in particular?" At this point, they're stuck on you. Game over, man. Which, hey, if you don't have a clear idea of what you're wanting, it's great. Mathis' salespeople are helpful and can answer questions left and right. However, the moment they realize they're about to close on the sale, their service will rapidly decline. We bought a sectional sofa and a china cabinet and were told that the sofa had to be made-to-order, that we'd need to put a percentage down in order for the sofa order to process, plus pay the delivery fee for the sofa ahead of time, plus state and local taxes, and put money down on the china cabinet in order to "reserve" it. Sounds like a lot of math, right? Good thing Mathis has a department entirely dedicated to arranging and taking payments so tha- Wait why are you calculating it all on paper with a pencil, salesperson? Yeah so our salesperson says that he has to calculate the down payment, shipping fees, and taxes, then get it signed-off by a manager, and then get it paid at the cashier's department. Which begs the question: ...what? Who would have thought that a multi-million dollar company still uses paper and pencil to figure out sales tax and down payments? Apparently Mathis Brothers keeps dozens of computers around only to look like they're technologically up-to-date. Oh and speaking of managers...good luck finding one. These magical creatures are absolutely vital (for a signature) to place orders but are in no way required to actually read orders, see if calculations are done correctly, interact with customers, or ensure that a customer's order is placed properly. Plus, salespeople don't have to commit to anything when all they have to do is shrug and say "sorry, I'm not the manager. I can't do anything about it." with every request you have. Mathis Brothers managers, I assume, are on the top floor of their corporate headquarters twiddling their fingers maniacally, waiting for papers to sign, and shouting at salespeople saying things like, "No they can't have an extra cushion with their sofa purchase. They'll make do with three cushions, I say! I don't care how much they spent on it! Now calculate Oklahoma sales tax for me!" Anyways, we got all of that payment stuff out of the way, which was a bit of a pain but hey, now there's nothing left to do but wait for the order to come in...is what should have happened. Instead, our salesperson calls me three days later and says "oh hey, I calculated the shipping fee and the down payment wrong so we haven't released your order. You're going to have to pay more before we start making your sofa and deliver your cabinet." So apparently, because Mathis Brothers only recently stopped using a chisel and stone for their purchase orders and can't calculate what's owed using a computer, I'm not allowed to have my order released until I pay what they say. What do I get in return other than a :shrug: and half-hearted "sorry"? I get another "Our manager has to release the order, I can't do anything about it. He said he'll call you..." The manager never called btw. So then I ask the salesperson whether I can pay over the phone. He says, "Sure!...just call back and ask for the cashier's department." "...Can't you just transfer me to the cashier's department now?" "No, sorry you'll have to call back, we can't transfer..." Mathis Brothers operates like they just discovered electricity and are still wrapping their heads around the concept. Frankly, I'm surprised I didn't receive a notice from them via aeromail. So then I call back and am immediately welcomed to the sound of Rit Mathis saying, "This is Rit Mathis. We appreciate your business. Have a great day." I don't think you do appreciate my business, Rit... After 20 minutes of being put on/off hold by a confused cashier that thought I wanted to pay $2100 for a ticket that I didn't ask about, I finally made the payment needed to release ("release") my order. The cabinet was brought broken and sent back for a replacement. The replacement was apparently made with only 3.5 legs and wobbled back and forth like a Jenga tower but, at that point, I wanted nothing to do with Mathis anymore so I took it as is. The best thing about shopping at Mathis Brothers is the feeling you get when you finally walk out, knowing that you'll never have to buy from them again.
