Honestly the worst furniture shopping experience ever! Guess I should've checked the reviews. They really know how to take the happiness out of buying new furniture. They forgot to order chairs for our table for God's sake. They dropped off a chipped table then we had to wait almost another month for the chairs. We also bought a sofa, recliner, and love seat. When they dropped them off they also dropped off a bench for the table.... but no table lol. It took 3 deliveries to drop of all our stuff. Also the chipped table was replaced with another chipped table. We didn't even want to send it back because of the hassle we had already gone through. So they won! Damaged furniture, tons of wasted time, and a new bill. We couldn't even get the joy of having all the pieces together at the same time which gives a certain feeling seeing all new furniture in your home. They stole that too! I would give no stars if allowed. We got a new home and bought a new sectional, we picked up since we have a truck and didn't need any assembly. However, the legs were not the same, and look different. The hook that connects the two pieces was missing. We called and they said there was nothing they could do since the 10 days had passed. That is absolutely ridiculous being moving is such a big task and we didn't assemble the legs right away! We didn't want a refund or to return the couch, just the correct prices to get what we purchased off seeing in the showroom floor!!!!!!!!!! Since then many pieces have been bought at living spaces, most were ok but we have had some issues and there customer was superior! I will never shop at Mathis again. A simple fix and they would rather lose a customer and get a bad review. We were told the sofa came in two different shipments and that's why the legs were different! Isn't that there mistake? They should sell a matching set! Not something that is one set and came in different shipment! Looking to replace a Lazy Boy sectional sofa, so stopped by a few places to check styles and prices. Mathis Bros offered great options and best prices. Our saleslady Lori Villa showed us both Lazy Boy and other comparable sets. Ended up with a new couch, loveseat, and three tables for a great price. Lori was upfront about length of time it would take to get furniture so we were prepared to wait. It's been in place now for about two weeks. Love what we selected. If you plan to shop at Mathis, ask for Lori - she was helpful, quick with answers, and gave us plenty of time and space to look and consider. Appreciated her help. read more

The furniture is nice but the online person Craig is very rude an impatient. I was trying to make an online purchase but because there were a couple of issues associated with making the purchase he became rude. Instead of going the extra mile to help me with the purchase, he said, "I believe we have talked about what it would take to make this work and you are not able to come in the store. Is there anything else I can help you with?" Well first of all (Craig), my online order could have been purchased online if he would have taken the time to help me. Anyway, I texted him back asking him for the balance on my Mathis card, and he doesn't text anything. So I wait and there is a long wait, then I text saying "Are you still here?" he says nothing, then I say, "hello!! looks like Craig has left the call, the rating for this is 2 stars." THEN...... SUDDENLY Craig appears and texted, "Sorry, sometimes we are facing high volume." HAHAHAHAHA are you kidding me. Craig is truly a jerk. I then decided to call in and speak with a manager, guess who answers the phone, CRAIG.. I asked Craig to connect me with a manger, and he asked what it was regarding, and I told him that it was regarding him. He supposedly transferred me over to a supervisor named Marcus, but I think it was still CRAIG. I asked him (supposedly Marcus) to transfer me to someone different because he sounded like the same Craig person. He then said he wasn't and HUNG UP THE PHONE IN MY FACE. I called back asking for Marcus, and when MARCUS/CRAIG got on the phone I told him that if he is the supervisor, I can see why is staff is so rude and unprofessional because as we know, great customer service starts at the top. Salesperson service is nice, delivery is timely. BUT... I brought a clearance outdoor loveseat along with other furnitures at the store, it saids 'repaired leg' on the loveseat tag but when I received it the leg is still broken and the whole seat is very unstable. (It was stable enough at the store I guess they put something underneath to cover the issue). My guess is they never repaired the leg. Honesty they should not even put this on the floor to sell because it could be dangerous when people sit on it. So I called customer service, I said the leg is broken and they just said it was repaired and it is final sale. I said it is not repaired because the leg is still broken. The lady said it is final sale and I should have checked it in the store (yep kinda my bad). And I said I need to flip the whole thing upside down to find out the broken leg. And they said oh so you just decide to flip it upside down at home? And after deliberate discussion they sent me an email saying this is an "unrepairable" product and I can't return it because yes it is a final sale, although this furniture is nothing like the tag (repaired leg of the unrepairable furniture LOL) I figured this is another my words against theirs so there it is meaningless to argue. Good luck if you want to buy clearance from the store, the price is good but make sure you flip everything upside down to check every single corner, don't trust the tag! read more

I would give zero stars if possible! They try to upsell on everything especially their furniture protect plan which is useless!! I bought a very expensive Cheyenne Full Bookcase bed for my daughter in 2019 and was pressured to buy the furniture protection plan for $78 as it would cover "anything" that happened to the bed. Four years later the wood on the middle of the support beam breaks due to poor construction and I call and am rerouted to a third party for the furniture protection plan and they end up telling me that nothing is covered on the bed frame even though I sent pictures of the bed showing clearing that it broke due to a design element not supporting the center of the bed. I call back to Mathis Brothers where I bought the bed and am told "Sorry!, You would need to discuss that with the other company as we have nothing to do with them." Beware - Do not buy anything from here and expect for them to honor their promise of fixing things because they will not. I went to Mathis brothers after searching several other stores for a particular recliner and sofa set. Found it and it was in stock! What?? Really!! I was very happy to hear that! JAKE at the ontario, Ca store helped us out. He was very patient and knowledgeable about the furniture and the process of delivery. Ordered it on a monday and received it on Friday. The two guys that delivered my furniture did a wonderful job. Hooked it all up. Installed the backup batteries for the back up. Had me check for any damages. My family and I went to Mathis Brothers today (November 2, 2019) in Ontario to see about getting new furniture. We have never been to the store before, but my mother-in-law suggested it. When we arrived we were greeted by Mario Solis Jr. I have to admit that I am always a little skeptical of salespeople but this time I can say I was very wrong, which is usually my wife's job. Mario was really awesome! We let him know what we were looking for and he expertly led us around the store showing us different options. The store is huge, but Mario was an amazing tour guide, leading us from choice-to-choice. We never felt at any point that he was trying to upsell us, but just gave us options. When we figured out the couch we wanted he then moved furniture for us with the help of his manager so we could see how other furniture would look with it. From accent chairs to bar stools and even coffee tables he masterfully switched things around letting us know the pros and cons until our decisions were made. He even offered to move a rug for us...we declined as that was way above and beyond the call of duty. Everyone at the store was very friendly and I know that even though there are many choices on where to buy furniture we will be going back to Mathis Brothers and Mario for our furniture needs. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Purchased a bed from them. Had to wait over a week for delivery and they would not give a time for delivery, except 9 am to 9 pm and they would text day before. Got text and I was not available but text gave no info on how to change time. Called 3x and waited on hold for 20 minutes 2x then finally choose for them to callback. They never called back. 3x I told operator and she stayed on line, got answered within 30 seconds. Guess that's what you have to do. Told customer service that time is not good, and they said they will check on times and call me back. About 2 hours later they call but I miss them. Their message is they can't change the time but offer no new time. I call again on direct line they leave me, sit on hold 10 minutes then leave another message. Again no call back. Next day I call and wait on hold 15 minutes and, WOW, they answer. That say my delivery time is still the same one I can't make. I ask for new time- Monday 9am till 9pm. I said I need a narrower window - basically said too bad that's all you get. So I pick a day and when they text if I can't do it then I'm back in same crap they already put me in. I will never shop there again!! All they care about is selling, not the customer. And price is no different. If they don't deliver on my schedule this time I am cancelling sale. read more

The good: Great selection of furniture. The bad: Terrible quality control and customer service. Several years ago (before COVID), I ordered an office desk that was delivered damaged. I sent it back demanding a replacement. After a couple of months, I phoned the store to get an estimated delivery date. No one including management was able to provide information on the status of the order. The issue was only resolved after contacting the Better Business Bureau. Check out Mathis Brothers on BBB and on other Yelp reviews. The company obviously has a pattern of delivering damaged or defective furniture. In September 2021, I decided to give MB another shot. My wife and I met with the designer Chrissy who helped us pick out new furnishings for our home. We initially received an estimated delivery date for March 2022. We were told the order would not be delivered until the balance of tens of thousands of dollars was paid in full. After the balance was paid, we were told our order would not be ready until May. We were never notified the order would be delayed. We only found out by calling Chrissy several times and showing up to the store in person. Then we were told delivery would be in June. We called the delivery center to confirm what we were told. They told us the date was not available because they only deliver to our area on certain dates. Partial order was delivered in July because a dresser and two dinning chairs were damaged in the warehouse. One chair that was delivered has a leg shorter than the other three. Not even worth getting fixed considering our past experiences. We contacted Chrissy who assured us the chairs would be ready in 8-10 weeks. As of the date of this review (13 weeks later and 14 months after the original purchase date) we still don't have all of our chairs. They will only give us a date of January 2023. Only shop at Mathis Brothers if you are willing to deal with poor customer service and you don't mind waiting 1-2 years to receive your furniture that has been paid for. Make sure you thoroughly inspect your furniture for damage...if, and when it shows up! Well, over one week after posting the review above and sending two emails as suggested from the generic reply, I still haven't received a response. That figures!! Yes the selection is great and prices are ok. Read the reviews about the customer service after you order the furniture. I wish I would have before I went there. We purchased two rooms of furniture and even changed selection on dining room sets to get one in stock. The delivery drivers were running late and we did get a call they were behind (good customer service here!!). They brought in the pieces and set them up and then said the 4 dining room chairs are on back order you'll have to call the store to find out when they will be in. Called the store only to find out chairs were about 6 weeks out. This would have been ok if we have had A) been told, B) had chairs to sit on with the table, or C) been called or told prior to table coming inside the house (and being set up) the chairs would be delayed. Called the store several times to speak to manager and was told we would get return calls the 5 times we did call. Went in store twice only to be told the first time there was no one to speak to and the second time the manager for the salesperson was off until Wednesday. Left my number and said I wanted a call back when the manager returned. I was courteous in explaining the situation, we had no furniture as we just had long distance move and seeing if they could find chairs. The manager seemed like this was not an issue and we would just have to wait. I asked about other chairs and ended up going with those to have something besides 2 step ladders for our kids to sit on. For all my troubles, calls and efforts I was given a 5% discount (YES you are reading this correctly) and asked to pay the difference. I had other furniture being delivered a few days later and asked if they could get the chairs added to that delivery. The answer was NO without even pretending to check. I would cancel everything and send this all back if we had any furniture. Worst customer service ever after you leave store. Don't shop here, go anywhere else. read more

So I Bought a rocker Recliner on May 1st from the Ontario Store. Scott McLeod was my salesman. My order said Estimate delivery date May 6th, 2021. I called Scott on the 10th to see what was the progress on my order. He said that they had none in store and that the Indio store was expecting them in and had none sold so they would transfer one from Indio and I would have it by the end of the month. Well I called on the last day of May to find out the status of my order. Well, Scott cancelled my order. I found this out when Customer Service called me June 1st to confirm the cancellation. I told Val, I did not cancel my order. Val transferred my to the store & I talked to Patrick who told me that he would reinstate my order and that I should have it by the middle of June. Well today is June 15th and I called the store and talked to Carolyn. She told me that my transfer order was still pending. I sked her when I could receive delivery. She said that she couldn't give me a delivery date but would check on the transfer and let me know. She said that I would get my chair 3 days after they received it. I said you just told me that three days after you get it I will have delivery so when you get the transfer date, you should be able to tell me the delivery date. Carolyn told me that she would call me back in an hour with the information I requested. If she does not give me a firm delivery date, I'm cancelling my order and will look elsewhere for my rocker/recliner. They tout exceptional Customer Service but I find it quite lacking. They shouldn't put estimated delivery dates on orders if they aren't correct. It has now been 6 weeks since I ordered the chair in person, in the store. They may have great stuff on display in the store, You pay for it, pay for home delivery, but getting your order to your home is a freaking nightmare. 6 weeks so far waiting for a stock item, Not a special order or special fabric I posted a review before about this issue and received a request for more information from Mathis Brothers. I am giving a one-star review, but I would give this store a zero. I purchased most of the furniture I have in my home from this store which amounted to close to 27,000 dollars. However, my ordeal and nightmare with Matthis Brother began in April of 2022 when I realized that one of my reclining sofas from a set I purchased was defective(it had only been about six months since I had the sofa). To add, I had also purchased additional insurance/warranty for the sofa set in case anything happened. To make the long story short, Matthis Brothers sent four technicians to "fix" the sofa, and not one of them could "fix" the problem. Also, they all had different opinions, and one commented that Matthis Brothers should replace the sofa since it was under warranty. Two other technicians said that for the couch to work, new parts had to be ordered to fix the mechanical mechanism of the sofa. What has made this experience a true nightmare is the customer service of Matthis Brothers. As I mentioned, this ordeal began in April, and now eight months later, my issue still needs to be resolved. I have spoken with multiple representatives, including Ashley, a senior sales manager; Lisa, a customer service manager; and Cynthia, a customer service representative. I have bounced around these two departments, and they both blame each other. Since four technicians came out to try fixing the problem, Ashley had mentioned that if, after three technicians, the sofa was not fixed, it would be replaced with a new one. She then retracted and said it was a customer service issue, not hers. I then proceeded to speak to customer service, and they came to take the sofa to be fixed. A day after, Lisa from customer service called and said that the parts had been replaced and reinforced and that the couch was working again. A delivery was scheduled, and on said date, due to the negative experiences I had been through, I went outside before receiving the couch to ensure it was working. Not surprised; the sofa was in the same condition as when it was taken a few days prior. I did not accept the delivery, and they took back the couch. At this point, I was frustrated and upset and decided to go back to the store and speak with Ashley. Ashley then sent me to talk to customer service because she mentioned there was nothing else she could do on her end. I then talked to Lisa, and she first mentioned that they would not do anything else because, according to their "standards," the sofa is not defective. I reiterated to Lisa the statements said by the technicians, so she went to look at the reports. She returned and guaranteed that they would order all the parts and fix the sofa. She said they would call me the next day to update me. They called the next day and mentioned that they did not fix it because a technician did not make it on time. A few days passed, and I have yet to hear from them. I called customer service and spoke with Cynthia(a customer service representative), who said she would call me back with more information. She did not, and a few more days passed. I called back, and it was then that Cynthia told me that they were NOT going to fix the sofa and threatened that if the sofa was not picked up from the warehouse, they would start charging me a daily fee. Reluctantly I agreed to have my sofa brought back to my house because I did not want to be charged a fee for something that was not my fault. I scheduled the delivery for today, December 20, and they said I would have my couch at 1:30 pm; it is now 6:00 pm, and I am still waiting to receive my couch. They just informed me that they had a problem loading the sofa onto the truck and could not deliver it today. They are now saying that it will be delivered Friday. I am genuinely frustrated and dissatisfied with the treatment I have received from all the representatives of Matthis Brothers. I will not return to this store, and I advise future customers to go to another furniture store. If you decide to purchase at Matthis Brothers, be cautious and make sure that you keep track of all your communication and statements made by the associates because each time I spoke with them, they had something different to say. Every now and then you meet a special someone who is very generous & helpful when you most need help! That person is James Hicks of the Ontario Mathis Bros store! (He is a LazyBoy expert.) I had a problem with a recliner chair I had purchased 3 months prior at the Irvine store - the chair stopped working. :-( Having been thru 2 hip replacement surgeries in the last few months, I needed this wonderful chair working again. The Irvine store unfortunately turned their back on me. Lousy customer service - post sale. However, James Hicks listened to me (when no one else did) and followed through multiple times until we got my chair working again. I am grateful. Here is to the good people in the world.
