Really amazing staff and program! They have managed to make math fun for my son utilizing fun breaks and a rewards system while teaching math. He cannot wait to go to his tutoring lessons and he wants to stay longer. This is from a boy who cried and said he hated math prior to finding Mathnasium. My only regret, is that we did not find it sooner, and we will continue during the summer to get a jump on next year. I love that they do not send homework packets home with me to do with him but instead, they do his math homework with him when he goes (saving my son and I a lot of frustration at home). My kids didn't like Math at all. They always struggle at school and when I told them that they will be going to Mathnasium..they were terrified. They are smart kids but Math is just something they are not interested to but needs to be better at it. The first time I went with my kids, they were nervous but Archi made them feel comfortable. The most amazing Math center there is! Ever since my daughter started here she has passed all ger math tests with 91% or higher. The director Rob is constantly checking in and shifting the curriculum around to Make a personalized learning plan to keep up with their educational needs. My kids actually ask to go to math now. The first visit was a little bit of a struggle, my son just didn't want to go but we know he needed support in math as he's about to enter 7th grade. After the 2nd or 3rd visit when I would pick him up he would be all smiles, he even told me he felt like it was getting easier. He seems to like the instructors and the math challenges they provide. The owner of the facility is rude and unprofessional. They dont care about the students, it all about the money. They don't communicate well and She is so rigid with rules and schedules there is absolutely no flexibility especially if you have an upper grade level student with extra curricular activities- Stay away from this franchise!! Pandemic distanced learning really threw my son a curve ball when it came to subjects like math. He's always been very good in math but starting middle school distanced really hurt his understanding and practice of concepts. He is shy and doesn't ask any questions over zoom. He kept up with the fast pace of pre-algebra in GATE for 6th but definitely started algebra in 7th at a disadvantage. He even failed a big test which was unusual. We looked into getting him a private tutor but Covid precautions severely limited people willing to go to homes. We found Mathnasium through Yelp and started 2 months ago. At first our son was angry and embarrassed about needing help. We met Leanne at the HB location in December. She was informative, friendly, and kind. We decided to start in January after the winter break. My son was very resistant and we fortunately got delayed by a school quarantine mandate which gave him time to adjust to the fact that he needed more help. But I could tell he felt bad about it and it was affecting his self esteem. He walked in angry and nervous. The first session went very well with a really nice tutor named Aaron, but I stayed around for his comfort just in case. The second session he told me I could wait in the car and he confidently walked in by himself! His grades and understanding in math have already improved in the last two months, which is great, but the biggest improvement has been his attitude toward learning and math in general. That is our biggest win. We no longer hear him complaining angrily about math. When he's frustrated with something now we remind him he has another resource to help him. They help him with current homework problems and quiz reviews but they also cover foundational reviews for longer term success.
