Hubby and I showed up after exercise class yearning for chicken and we found this place as we were driving. A little above our usual price range for reviews, this adorable little place (think a handful of tables, lightly decorated to remind me of Peru. I got arroz con. Pollo and hubby got aji a la gallina. Both were delicious! The service friendly and while the food took a minute, everything was delicious! 5:5 will return

Delicious authentic Peruvian food in odd location with great service and traditional offerings. Having enjoyed Peruvian food elsewhere and happy to see a new place pop-up after another one had closed down a couple years ago, we made time to come try it out. The atmosphere isn't great and it's in an odd location. It was cold inside since it was below freezing outside, but the service was wonderful and the food was pretty good. We tried a few traditional dishes and enjoyed them enough to recommend the place to our friends and plan to bring them there to enjoy it as well.

I hadn't had Peruvian food in years so I really wanted to try Mati. I finally got around to it today. My roommate and I came by for dinner. They were welcoming and walked my roommate (who had never had Peruvian food) through the menu, and brought us a dish of seasoned dried corn to try. I got the chicha morada, which arrived in a large sturdy goblet and tasted great. We shared a serving of papa a la huancaina and an order of lomo saltado and both were spectacular. We brought an order of fried plantains to a friend who also enjoyed them. I'll definitely need to come back to try their aji de gallina!

Tried this new spot in Albuquerque and I think it might be the only Peruvian restaurant here Started with yummy plantains, then shared the ceviche--so fresh and perfect for two. Service was on point (friendly + checked in at just the right moments). Already planning our next visit and bringing friends along!

I'm not too familiar with Peruvian food, but someone highly recommended Mati, a newish restaurant off San Pedro, across from the fair grounds. I ordered the Chicha Morada which is a purple corn drink made with pineapple, green apple, and cinnamon. I wish I was sipping on some right now! For my appetizer, I ordered the Papa a la Huancaina which comes with boiled yellow potatoes topped with an Aji Amarillo cream sauce. And then for my main dish I ordered the Lomo Saltado which comes with marinated strips of sirloin, red onions, and tomato, served with rice and french fries. Everything was absolutely delicious! I want to go back and eventually make my way through the entire menu. The customer service was great. My server walked me through the menu since I wasn't familiar with any of the dishes. He was a great help and I'm thankfully for his recommendations!

Delicious as always! Back for more. We went with a small toddler -- the restaurant has high chairs & is very family friendly

Wow, what a wonderful Peruvian restaurant! I went this afternoon with a friend to try this restaurant. The inside is unassuming, simple and traditional. The service was perfect. The food was so delicious and flavorful. It seems like they use good quality ingredients. We started with some appetizers and then my friend had the Aji Gallina and I had the Lomo Saltado. Both were served with two different Aji sauces, the green (verde) was spicier , both were delicious. The meal exceeded all of our expectations . Can't wait to go back

Authentic Peruvian cuisine. Today I enjoyed the Ceviche Mati for lunch. It was large enough to share, accompanied with two types of Peruvian maize, and sweet potato. I'll be back.

My husband and I were so excited to find a new Peruvian place in town. We were seriously blown away by this food. My husband is Peruvian and I've been having brewing food for 20 years and this was truly some of the best. The owner is so nice and friendly and really aimed for the best experience possible for customers. I highly recommend it here!!

Wonderful tasting Peruvian food. With Peruvian food, it's all about the sauces. The owner gave me the aji verde, aji criollo and aji Huaicaina. All sauces were delicious along with the food. A must try when in ABQ.

The best appetizer ever! Chulpi corn!

The owner was absolutely delightful! And the food did not disappoint. We came because it is located in the neighborhood we grew up on and we also love trying new places. If you love to try new food and have or have not had Peruvian food you better try this place. It has all the traditional tastes of Peru and the love behind the food too. We will be back soon.

I was excited to see there is a new Peruvian Restaurant here in Albuquerque and it did not disappoint! Everything from the service to the food was incredible. The food was fresh and extremely delicious. The service provided was also very good. I will be going back soon and telling everyone about this place! The restaurant inside is decorated nicely with some Peruvian decorations. The only downfall is the parking situation. I parked in a lot near the restaurant and on my way back to my vehicle I was told not to park there by some aggressive employees. Don't park to the north of the restaurant.

I'm glad a colleague reminded me of this place, I haven't been here in years. It's a little space,…read moreso if you hit it at prime lunch time it may be a bit crowded. Turnover is pretty quick though. Service was great, they were very attentive and came by to check on us a few times. I realize it's chicken in the name but I had to try the veggie stuffed potato, since I like to be on the lookout for good veggie options. It was very tasty and stuffed with good veggies. Great flavor, I'm sure the chicken ones would be equally good, and I'll have to try something different next time. Except yucca fries, I will always get those because they are so good! The sauce they're served with is amazing! Definitely check out this little gem if you get the chance!

Still amazingly delicious and unique!…read more I'm not sure if you've tried this place yet, but if you haven't, you need to get on it! I request Peruvian chicken for my birthday pretty much every year. I don't often get over there as it is on the other side of town from where I'm located, but luckily I was given carry out for my birthday celebration. I had the grilled Peruvian chicken, cilantro rice, chicken stuffed potato, yuca fries with aji and coconut flan. I actually cannot compliment this place's food enough. It's simply some of the best food I've had with really original flavors. The service was fast and our order was correct. I haven't been in the store for quite some time, but it is spacious with an open floor plan and lots of natural light. There's also a really nice sitting area on the patio. This is one of my favorite restaurants and part of that is because the owner is so friendly and welcoming. He's always up for a good chat whether you stop in to grab some carryout or whether you dine in. I highly recommend Pollito Con Papas if you want something enticing and satisfying.

tldr: THE SOUP This…read moreis a place where a tasting menu would be amazing because I'm sure everything is that good. Before they even bring the menu they bring out 7 moles to taste. Apparently moles aren't all dark chocolate spicy sauces ... ?!?? Loved the education and samples. I'm typically not a mole fan, but they were fun to try. We had the octopus but to me the sauce was too oily. The actual octopus was tender and delicious. Also had the duck skin tacos which were more of a minced duck meat taco and delish. The 5 stars go for impeccable service and the SOUP. This soup is not to be missed. Nothing on paper makes me think it should work but it totally does. It's a big lump of blue crap topped with creamy poblano pepper soup with whipped cream and amaretto and then topped with a spicy kick. Someone said cinnamon but for me it tasted more like hot red chili powder. Sounds incredibly weird but it was the best dish I've had in forever. Waitress was extremely knowledgeable and the chef was very welcoming and present in his cowboy hat! Space was cozy with amazing art. Perfect date night spot but plan to spend a bit of $$$

Overall, this was a very underwhelming experience. The restaurant presents itself as fine dining,…read morebut it struggled to execute the fundamentals. We were seated immediately but waited about ten minutes before anyone greeted us. When our server finally arrived, he wished us a happy anniversary--even though it wasn't our anniversary. While not a major issue, it's the kind of detail a restaurant at this price point should get right. After ordering drinks, water, and our meals, we were told everything was available except the duck. My wife ordered the sopa de amora and the halibut special. I ordered the frijole negro and attempted to order the Popocatépetl, only to be told it was unavailable that evening. Instead, I was offered a $90 Wagyu steak. For a restaurant of this caliber, the menu should be updated or guests should be informed of major changes upfront. It felt like a bait-and-switch. Our drinks arrived, but after finishing our water, we were told more would be brought out. It never arrived until dessert, when I had to ask again. The frijole negro was excellent--the best dish of the night. Unfortunately, my wife's soup was disappointing. We were told it had to be eaten from top to bottom or bottom to top for the flavors to work properly, and this explanation was delivered in a somewhat condescending manner. Despite being described as "the best soup in the state," the flavors simply felt off. For the entrées, my steak was good, but the rice was overcooked and mushy. My wife's halibut was completely under-seasoned, and her rice was equally inedible. Dessert was better. The crepes were enjoyable, though the walnuts were noticeably burnt. I don't usually nitpick, but when a restaurant charges premium prices, the food and service should justify the cost. Unfortunately, both were mediocre, and the overall experience fell far short of expectations.
