We were here for lunch on two different visits within a two week period. Both times, we were lucky enough to get in before the lunch rush. When we got in, it was empty, but filled up quick. We understand why as the food is delicious. The star of both visits was the sushi pizza. We go for sushi a lot, and that's the most creative thing I've seen in sushi for many years. The dish is visually stunning as well as tasty. My only complaint is I want more! On the second visit, we were 4 people, one of whom does not like sushi. We got the Sushi Boat for 2, which was plenty for 3 of us, along with that sushi pizza. The non-sushi eater got some steamed vegetables and a lump crab and avocado roll. That was the only roll I did not like. There were pieces of crab shell in there, and the crab and avocado mix was just too mushy. It needs something to give it texture and to break up the mushy feel. I'll be looking forward to going back and trying other rolls. I don't remember the name of every roll we tried, so we'll have to go back again. Stopped in for take out on a weekend while shopping. The place was empty, except for a couple eating. Ordered to go after someone in front of me did the same. When I picked up a different person was picking up their to go order so maybe they do a lot of take away. Ordered king salmon sashimi and the spicy kani mango and sex on the beach sushi rolls. It was OK. Nothing amazing. Ordered two orders of the king salmon sashimi and it was a little.... Mushy? It didn't smell bad or taste bad just a little more mushy than I'm used to. Not all of the pieces, but half were like that. The rolls were better. I would have liked some mayonnaise in the spicy kani roll to make it a little creamier, but I enjoyed it as is. The sex on the beach roll was really good. I'd go back for the rolls and probably skip the sashimi next time. Service was friendly and she helped me pick my rolls. read more

I came here twice for lunch so far. I like the plaza the restaurant is in. Even though the parking lot seems a bit packed during the lunch hour, there are plenty of spots in that parking lot and we were easily able to located one. Restaurant itself was very clean and relaxing. This place does close down after 2:30pm and reopen for dinner around 5 or 5:30pm. I got there at 2:20pm and was still able to be seated. And yes, I did call ahead of time to find out what is their last seating for lunch. In my opinion, I feel their service could have been better. It definitely ain't the best. The staff was either tired or just not passionate about her work much. Food wise I think they are not too bad. Typical Japanese restaurant to me. I ordered a Tonkatsu ramen for my kids. The portion seems normal with an alright soup base. I had the Alaskan poke bowl. Now that one the portion was pretty decent. I did substitute edamame with extra avocado. My husband ordered their Chirashi. The sashimi are fresh and well sliced in size and thickness. Portion seems pretty good too. Will I come back? Possibly if I am around the area. But there are definitely better food quality and services Japanese restaurants options out there. read more

My husband and I decided to stop by here for sushi on a Friday evening. The restaurant was packed. Luckily, we were able to get a table. Came here last night with a friend. Ordered the New Zealand Roll, New York Roll, and Rainbow Roll. Also ordered a side of Takoyaki balls. The takoyaki balls were served fast and then immediately after the sushi came out. There was very little buffer time in between to eat our appetizer before the sushi. Some of this sushi just tasted bad. I've been to many sushi restaurants and the sushi here was bleh. Not a fan of the tuna or yellowtail. The New Zealand Roll was pretty gross. The New York Roll was Good. Salmon was good. Would not suggest ordering any of the special rolls again. Very expensive and not very good. The atmosphere in here gives you the sense that it's fine dining. I think that's just the overall appeal businesses located in the Promenade are trying to portray. read more

So disappointed. We called to make reservations for Valentine's Day. They reservations were confirmed, and the kids were excited when we told them the news. 30 minutes before our reservation, the family loading into the car, they called and cancelled our reservation. They stated that they were unable to accommodate us. Now we are unable to find a new reservation as everywhere else is booked due to their last minute cancellation in Valentines night. read more

This establishment is a part of a new complex and I know if I lived here, the majority of my meals would be from Matsu. Parking is super easy and convenient. I arrived during a weekday lunch and it was not crowded but had 2-3 other patrons groups dining as well. The staff was attentive and helpful throughout the experience. We had 1 signature role in which I can't remember, spicy tuna roll, and a California roll. All were delicious. We also had a green tea fried ice cream which was okay but not the best I've had. It has been awhile since I have reviewed a restaurant that serves ramen soup. Well kids, this restaurant is located right by The Promenade (Luxury apartments in Dresher) and they have several types of ramen dishes to choice from. Now, to those of you that have been following my reviews for a long time, you know that I have found an authentic Japanese restaurant that serves hand drawn noodles (Hokkaido Ramen Santouka -Tyson's Corner, VA) since having their ramen it is haaarrd to lower my expectations to have any other ramen. The ramen broth here is full of flavor however the noodles just don't soak up the flavor that well. Now to be fair, this was a take out ramen order. I was wishing I had some hot sauce or something that I could add to the noodles to give them more flavor while chowing down. The pictures of some of the sushi dishes here look spectacular! I do plan on making a return visit to soak up some of that fine looking sushi and will update my review once I explore their plethora of different kinds of rolls. Matsu is located in the new Promenade complex off of Welsh Road in Dresher. The interior of the restaurant is an open concept with modern design. As you enter the sushi bar is along the right side wall and tables & booths fill the middle and left side of the building. The menu is robust and they have a plethora of specialty rolls along with the traditional rolls such as spicy tuna etc.. My friend and I ordered 7 rolls and we thoroughly enjoyed all of them. Absolutely delicious. 4 of us were there last night (including my 5 year old) and we all loved our dinners. I had a salmon avocado roll and the shoyu ramen. The fish was so fresh and the ramen was amazing. Can't remember what the other two adults had, but they loved their food. My daughter had tamago "sashimi" and the dumpling soup. She loved everything. Service was prompt and attentive. The only slightly negative thing was that we were told it would be a 20 minute wait for a table, and it was more like 45. It was worth it though. read more

I enjoyed it for the most part, but with three of the toppings being acid-marinaded/pickled and the sauce being citrusy, the dish ended up being slightly too tart (and salty) for my palate. She did not ask us how we were doing, if we wanted drinks, did not check up on us, gave minimal to no feedback or detail about the food, and she seemed like she wanted nothing to do with us. As we were waiting for the food, I noticed she was friendly to everyone else besides me and my friend. I do not understand what me and friend did to her because we were nothing but polite to her nasty attitude. Her name was alaina and I will be back for food and pray I don't have her service again. The ramen here is kind of mid. It's not bad but it's not great either. Broth felt a bit lacking as well as the amount of toppings included (only half an egg! my favorite part!). Very convenient if you live in the nearby apartments but if you're driving I'd probably pick somewhere else. read more

Mixed reviews for my lunch takeout order. We enjoyed the miso soup and sushi rolls. Grill kitchen order, not so much. I was disappointed that the mixed vegetables were 90% onion, some corn kernels (not baby corn as one would expect in a stir fry), 1 piece of carrot and a tiny piece of asparagus. I noticed a new place opened up and I decided to come try it. The ramen soup was good and it filled me up. The only thing was that the soy sauce was very salty that i had to drink lots of water after it. Food: Overall, it was good. However, I'd probably only order the sushi, soup, and apps again. The "Kitchen Grilled" Steak was disappointing :( The quality of meat was chewy and tough, the vegetables were not even cooked at all / too hard to chew, and the white rice was a little over cooked. Sad there was only half an asparagus spear. Not worth $20+ at all. The Udon was just ok bc the steak meat in it had the same hard/chewy texture. Flavor was bland. Veggies in it were nice and fresh though. The sushi was great! Both rolls had fresh ingredients and nicely portioned. The shrimp was sweet and the avocado was nice and ripe. You can tell they were in a rush bc of the sideways pieces on one roll, but that doesn't bother me. Definitely coming back for the sushi! The dumpling soup was excellent :) Really enjoyed the flavorful broth and fresh veg thrown in it. Apps were ok. Standard dumplings and shumai. Cleanliness: Super clean and nice interior.
