    Basil Beef
    Delores M.

*This review is for takeout only* Have you ever heard the term " Fair to Midland"? I know, I know. I'm showing my age with this term, but it's the best I can describe their food. If you haven't heard the term, it means Average, Mediocore. This is how I feel about Ban Ban Asian Bistro. The service was fast and came warm. We decided on the General Tso's Tofu, my daughter says it was just ok. We gave it 7/10. General Tso's Chicken, pretty good, 8/10. Vegetable Spring rolls, pork eggrolls, and the pizza rolls were all dry! I would never buy these again! Finally I got the Basil Beef dish for my husband. The beef was not eatable! Just bounce off your teeth! I'll be nice and give this 4/10. Conclusion: Some things were just ok, but will not order from this place again!

    Cheese Rangoon Takoyaki Chicken Karaage

Okay there's no picture because we devoured the two so quickly but we loved the pork bao buns. They were probably the most flavorful item. The cheese wontons are good, definitely some onion or something in there to give it more than straight cheese flavor. The takoyaki were interesting, the texture was unexpected and the smell was overwhelmingly fishy because they laid on bonito - the balls themselves were v unfishy. The chicken bites were crispy but nothing amazing. The szechuan popcorn chicken was very boring, just tasted like fried popcorn chicken, no real flavor involved and no sauce. We will definitely have to try again and branch out.

Salmon on the left was OLD, BAD, and SMELLY!

BAD BAD BAD! This is literally the second review I've ever written so understand the severity of an issue for me to write one. Just to start the story my girlfriend and I ordered from here and it took a little bit long but no big deal. We got our food, the salad was delicious, the pork bao buns were just eh (no sauce on them). Then we open the container to the sushi (they were both in one container) - we got Hawaiian roll and the Forrest roll (with salmon and mango sauce on top). Immediately it reeked of bad fish. We were gagging at the smell. So, being in the restaurant industry in the past, I calmly call the restaurant and tell them about the bad salmon on the sushi and the lady is very rude. After starting to argue she says that she will compensate me for one roll. I tell her that the two rolls were in one container and if there is one bad that means that both are bad. She hangs up! I call back and SHE IGNORES MY CALL. I had to use my house phone just to get back in touch and I told her that I am a reasonable person and that if she compensates me for the two sushi rolls - I would be happy. She hangs up again. For the next hour and a half I called 25 times and each time I either was hung up on, called busy, or got a really loud beeping noise. These people are terrible, they don't care about their customers, they have bad fish, and disgusting sushi. I have NO IDEA how this place has good reviews. BAN BAN YOU SUCK!

    Chicken pad thai

Note: I would rate 3.5 but Yelp doesn't do 0.5 stars. I have both ordered from this place and have dined in as well. The place is pretty spacious - comfy red sofas to sit in. The place is nearly empty every time I go but there's always people picking up food so I am guessing this place makes their money mostly on take out and delivery. The service was okay- the server did the basics but we had to flag her down a couple of times to get attention for extra things. I ordered Pad Thai and while it was more than enough portion and easy to chew, the food itself was a bit bland. My friend ordered sushi and it was presented really pretty. She liked the rolls. It's not a bad place and it's really good atmosphere to enjoy your food. This place is definitely not an authentic Asian restaurant in my opinion, but if you don't mind that, it's a decent place to eat.

    Dried up pad Thai

They always screw at least one thing up.. either they forget something don't take the order properly or cook one dish badly. When they are on they do a good job. Tonight it looked like I got leftover pad thai. Overcooked dried up tofu and no peanuts

Some drinks, such as the milk teas, are okay. Then there's the Dubai Chocolate Sundae I got today. It was actually the worst dessert I've had in recent memory. I complained about it, too. I told the staff that it didn't resemble the pictures in their store. It didn't appear to have any pistachio cream in it. (If it was in there, there was so little of it that you could not taste it.) And the concoction I got was basically just chocolate ice cream with everything all mixed together as a single shade of brown. I paid $12.95 for this terrible thing. I showed the staff the problem. They looked in my cup. They refused to do anything about it. I asked for more pistachio/kanafi crunch stuff and they replied that their manager wouldn't like that. I was very dissatisfied and disappointed with this, so much so that I wrote corporate. KFT has no business selling this for $12.95. If you pay a premium price for something (drinks are normally $5 to $7 here), you expect it to be decent. I feel like I was severely cheated.

I want whoever is reading this to drop your phone right now, leave your house in whatever you're wearing, and hit the road. Because I want this place to become so popular that it never closes down. If you've never had a mochi ring donut, it's deep fried like a regular yeast donut, but made with tapioca/rice flour, which gives them a more springy consistency and slightly different flavor. (That description doesn't feel quite right... you just have to try them to understand). The icings are also better than average donut shops because they have things like yuzu, black sesame, and taro. They also have more traditional icings like strawberry or Nutella, but super-flavorful. To add icing to all of the icing you'll already have, they serve really great bubble tea. And corn dogs that are kind of hard to describe but you should eat them. And that's a full, balanced meal, folks.

That means I don't have to look for street parking if I want to go here for a quick snack/dessert. Clean: My first impression of this place is...it's clean. With Covid still being around, the two employees that I saw do have their masks on. However, there are no tables if you want to enjoy and eat their mochi donut or try out their drinks inside the store. Mochi Donuts: They taste fresh to me. There are a number of flavors to choose from. And from time to time, they will have new flavors out. The day I was there they had Ube and Mango as their new flavors. Their normal selections I believe are Strawberry, Matcha, Oreo, Nutella, Coffee, Brown Sugar Milk Tea, Black Sesame, Coconut, etc. I've tried all except Matcha. Personal preference that I would recommend is heat the mochi donut for a few seconds before eating so the texture of the mochi would be soft and chewy. Drinks: I ordered their Honey Citron Lemon Green Tea and their King of Oolong Milk Tea. Both drinks are yummy and delicious to me. Definitely recommend to give the drinks a try.

I ordered the Akamaru Modern Ramen, the BBQ short rib plate, and the mango shaved ice everything was absolutely delicious. The short ribs were incredibly tender and flavorful, paired perfectly with rice and their macaroni salad, which is surprisingly SO good because I normally don't even like macaroni salad from restaurants. The ramen was rich, comforting, and full of flavor as always. The mango shaved ice was refreshing and came topped with popping mango pearls and mochi, which made it even better. The ambiance is nice bright and decorative. Clean. The service is always great, and Jimmy always remembers me and is so welcoming every time I come in. When we called in to confirm that the Udon noodles do NOT have egg (as we have a child with an egg allergy), the woman taking our order curtly said "I threw out the box, it's white, you have to look for yourself." When we mentioned we do not know the brand to look, she replied "me neither, I threw out the box." Needless to say - the food is great, but honestly, the family owned business officially sucks. There's a way to respond to things and that just isn't it. Especially as someone taking orders. So thank you for ending this streak for us. The crap service made it easy to make this place a 1 star.

My order was extensive and a bit complicated (as usual), yet it was prepared flawlessly. The garnishes on the individual pieces meticulously applied. Fresh and inviting, arrayed with an artistic flair for color and balance. The "Mango Tango" roll, extraordinary. My seaweed salad, everything about it was perfection. The others in my group of four went the Cantonese route, tofu fried rice, a seafood noodle dish, which were judged superior. Throughout the evening, we all agreed it was a fantastic dinner we enjoyed. BYOB and relax. While not over-the-top in its décor, Queen Sushi's dining area is clean and orderly, serene even. Lit by large windows looking out upon the shaded, peaceful streets of Glenside. In fact, we found everything Queen Sushi has to offer so satisfying, it is a shame, really, to enter a complaint, but nonetheless. As I find more and more, no matter how lovely the establishment, the service is often wanting, and this impacted our experience. Had I not mentioned the appetizer I had ordered, it would have been overlooked, I am certain, because another appetizer we ordered was indeed completely forgotten. And I know that sushi preparation is a separate affair from the kitchen, which can lead to food arriving at different intervals - not unusual. But the considerable length of time the rest of my group was made to wait listening to me ooh and aah over my sushi was more than a little awkward.
