    This place ejected 80% of the bar for very little reason. It was an uncomfortable atmosphere and unenjoyable. Would not return.

This time I was passing by at dinner time so checked it out. It was Trivia Night so I opted for outside at one of the small 3 patio tables. The street has an outdoor dining vibe with two other restaurants also with outdoor seating. You put in your order at the bar (at least this Wednesday night) with a welcoming bartender on easy check list for sushi and ramen. I was stopping on the late side and those finishing their meals were clearly enjoying themselves. Many knew each other across tables as lots of stopping by for chats among friends. The pork belly in the ramen was definitely my jam as it had a crunchy top with easy to come apart pieces. Definitely the highlight. Not nearly as big a fan of the Asian greens which fell into almost a paste, the mushrooms not looking like they were fresh (to be fair there is a shiitake option I missed), and the smoked eggplant a little too chewy. And I took a flyer on the "special broth" without asking what it was so that is on me. But the really dark perhaps cinnamon infused (don't hold me to it) version was not something for me. The noodles were ample but not plentiful and were legit. So I think I'd opt for Nori instead of Asian greens next time and go with more traditional toppings. But definitely endorse the pork belly. I tried a smoked eggplant sushi role as something new. Just fine, I've tried it but I'll try another combo they have next time. And I know the economics are tough these days and specialty roles are routinely low teens in cost, but I'd suggest a two tier pricing scheme rather than $13.00 for one with a single ingredient and just 6 rather than normally 8 for specialty rolls. Glad I stopped and I will again to try some of the other fare. Just may be a little more traditional in my choices next time.

They supply you with a party bus to take you to the venue beforehand which definitely set the energy for the night. Once there, we got escorted up to our table in the upstairs section. It was the perfect mix of comfy & private, but we still had the balcony to dance on over top of the main dance floor. The bottle list was a good mix of options at various price points, and they had good mixers too. The bottle girls & bouncers were all extremely professional & friendly. The music was great. The floor was so sticky that your shoes would be fully stuck while walking. The staff is very uninterested in their jobs. Coat check basically grunted and pointed when asked questions. Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the floor really doesn't make food of interest... even though the event had tables of appetizers set out. But honestly, it was too dark to even see what there was. Like I said probably a stereotypical night club, but it was just gross enough to make me happy that I never go lol Probably only fun when drunk and dancing.. but hey that's their genre!

The dirty martini was fairly pungent and strong so not sure I would get it again but I'm also not big on dirty martinis so probably just the wrong choice on my part. But the food was the star of the show. We ate so many good dishes- starting with the rainbow platter. Loved the baba ghanoush and the roasted cauliflower - those were my favorite of the 7 dishes on the platter. We also ordered the labneh, hummus with chicken and lamb shawarma, and the kafta kebabs (rolled up in some sort of tortilla) which were all fantastic! If we come back (which we will) I would just order the baba ghanoush instead of the rainbow platter, all the other dishes we ordered, and maybe one additional plate. I felt like I didn't really need the Israeli salad (tomato and cucumber) or the pickled cauliflower and radish that came on the rainbow platter. The hummus was SO soft and fluffy. This was some of the best food we've had in Pittsburgh. After having lived in a Philly for 4 years, we know good mediterranean/lebanese food and I'd be surprised if you can find better in Pittsburgh.     Craft beers, nice decor, good food, great staff, good for a group…read more About 12 of us wanted a meal all together in McHenry MD, and we all like craft beer and pizza, so the Mountain State Brewing Co. restaurant was an easy choice. (Jun 2026). It's a large brew pub with a cabin-like décor, out Sang Run Road just north of Deep Creek Lake. There's a little carved bear by the front door, and a kid-size huggable bear at the host stand. Photo ops! And fun for the kids! They seated us quickly and our server was quick in taking beer orders. They have plenty of soft drinks, and we got Lemonade and Apple Juice, Orange Fanta (a favorite), and a pitcher of Mountain State's own creamy MSBC Root Beer - made here! Beer-wise, there were 16 draft crafts plus a couple of old standards to choose from on a paper menu or by looking at their website or QR-code. Most were around 5% ABV. We had Pennsylvania's full-flavored grassy citrusy mildly-bitter Victory Summer Love golden ale. We raided MSBC's just-west-of-here West Virginia brewery of their creamy malty lightly-bitter Miner's Daughter oatmeal stout, and a lightly-bitter caramel Almost Heaven amber ale. New York's Hudson North brewed us some summery sweet Salted Watermelon cider. And we had some from home: Columbia MD's Black Flag Snozzberry Haze: a fruity piney hazy IPA, standing up at 7% ABV. Baltimore's Mobtown Fever Dream, a creamy flavorful somewhat fruity IPA, punching at 7.4% ABV. And Baltimore's Wico Street Yeah Brah, a strongly-bitter double IPA, clobbering us with an 8.5% ABV! A wonderful fermented tour of the northeast! Get ready to say "yum" out loud... From their wide range of bar foods and appetizers, we had fresh crisp tortilla chips with their medium-spicy cream cheese and homemade-ranch baked Buffalo Chicken Dip, elevated with blue cheese on top and an add-on side of chipotle! They made their own fresh-Spinach & Artichoke Dip with fresh basil, roasted red peppers, and an extravagant blend of cream cheese, feta, mozzarella, asiago, parmesan, and cheddar jack. The giant soft crust Pretzels & homemade Beer Cheese were notably popular with the kids. Salads? Yep. Tasty Lemon Herb Chicken Salad, crisp and crunchy Caesar salad, house salad with requested black olives, and cole slaw. And sides of orange segments and raisin-like cranberries for the little ones. And on to the main feast :-). Simple fried chicken nuggets and off-the-menu Pepperoni Pizza to be sure the younger crowd was satisfied. The Boars Nest sandwich was overnight-tender pulled pork with tangy Carolina BBQ sauce and fresh crunchy cole slaw on a lightly-toasted brioche bun. The spicier "wilder" Wild Boar sandwich had that low-and-slow pulled-pork awakened with bright jalapeños and spicy Chipotle BBQ sauce, topped with provolone on that toasted yet pillowy brioche. The fresh Caprese sandwich had firm ripe Roma tomatoes, tender baby spinach, and fresh mozzarella with requested added chicken. It was all dressed with bright basil dressing, drizzled with tangy sweet balsamic glaze, on crisp and soft toasted Italian bread. A well-made classic caprese re-invented by MSBC as a bright crunchy sandwich! Everyone liked those classic crisp pepperoni pies. From their world-class pizza recipes, we had the Supreme: pepperoni, sausage, onions, green peppers, their cheese blend, and black olives, drizzled with fragrant fresh olive oil. And the vegetarian so-tasty-you-wouldn't-guess it-was-gluten-free Yard Sale pizza: marinated artichokes, prosciutto, mozzarella, with an olive oil & garlic base, sprinkled with fresh basil and a dash of freshly-cracked black pepper. Mountain State Brewing Co. gave us a memorable spread of great beers and delicious creative foods. You know we enjoyed leftovers the next day :-) Our terrific server Claire was ever-attentive, and between you and me, made it seem effortless to host our full table of hungry adults and kids. The pizzas were so good that, after a busy day the next day, we went back and got more to take home! Definitely a location to return to....
