Keep away. After surgery care is horrendous!! he tries to get patients be seen by PAs, even cases that have had complications. Good luck if you are ever admitted with post-op complications. He never showed up even once to check on me, despite my even asking for him. He makes you feel small for asking to see him instead of PAs for post-op appts. All my complications could have been avoided had they done a better job with treating patients better with attending physicians. Deeply regret my surgery with him Update: I have anonymized my profile to prevent any negative repercussions. Dr. Miller will not find my name in the patient records for that reason. The PA issue was not as big as the fact that the doctor never followed up to check on me when I had life-threatening complications. 1-22-25 The appointment with Dr Miller went well today. I have severe arthritis in my back and that is what caused my hip dislocation. The joint is in place now but if it happens again I'll have to have a different kind of hip joint surgery so it won't pop out to the back of my hip. Dr Miller, Grace and Shelly at Stanford Healthcare in Los Gatos are the "A" team for hip replacements. Dr Miller is very busy like most physicians so he doesn't have a lot of time to chit chat but he made time to visit me at Stanford Hospital after each of my two hip replacement surgeries in 2022. Dr. Miller also personally called my wife and provided her an update after each surgery. The bottom line are the results. Before my first hip replacement surgery in Feb 2022 and second in May 2022, I had significant pain getting in and out of the car, picking up the newspaper and tying shoes. I can now see the light at the end of the tunnel. I've been going to the gym and although I don't jog, I am in great shape and feeling 30 years younger. I had a laundry list of questions before and after surgery during my visits to the Los Gatos clinic. Dr Miller or PA, Grace answered all of my questions and was very patient. Shelly in the front office was brilliant regarding scheduling and providing support for insurance and business issues. Dr Miller did an amazing job on my knee replacement surgery on June 3,2024. He is professional, caring, he even personally had me come in and changed my bandages when they came off. he did this himself, not a nurse or PA. He is not a big talker but instead a big doer. Dr Miller was prepared to do a total knee replacement if needed but as it turned out I only needed a partial. I was able to walk just hours after my surgery and started PT right in the hospital. I was sent home with a high tech equipment that I was allowed to keep. they gave me an electronic ice machine that I strap on so I can ice for hours non stop, a wound vac as well as pulsing wraps to prevent blood clots. it seemed that nothing was spared (in spite of the insurance that I have). I was treated well. My recovery has been ahead of schedule, In fact I was able to walk down the isle of my friend's wedding that I was in unassisted, no cane, or walker in only 4 weeks after the surgery. in fact I only used the walker one day, and a cane for about a week and then I was walking on my own unassisted. Everyone has been amazed, I even am. The Scar is hardly noticeable. My pain level has been unexpectedly low. I am only using over the counter strength pain medication now. I only needed the stronger medicine for the 1st week. Doctor Miller is a Superstar Rockstar to me. I am more than happy with the work he did as well as the results. The unexpected blessing was that I have had hip pain for years, MRIs etc for this, so I expected that a hip replacement was next, but to my suprise the knee pain was gone almost immediately after my partial knee replacement. For years (I'm 81 years old) I did cortisone shots, physical therapy, knee braces, placenta shots, etc. Dr. Miller was highly recommended to me as I was thinking about knee surgery. At the time I couldn't walk half around the block. I immediately liked Dr. Miller and he didn't push me into anything. I did the TKR in October 2022. He did minimal incision. Another thing I liked he had a online zoom meeting with other patients that were having knee surgery informing them what to expect and information that was quite helpful. Dr. Miller had a terrific physical therapist that came to my home and started me on physical therapy right away for 3 weeks. I consider him the best I've ever had. I am very happy with the results of the surgery and feel lucky that Dr. Miller was my doctor. Today I am happy to report I had a 9 mile hike. I can keep up with everyone. I have had knee issues in both knees for the last 6 years and many treatment including multiple arthroscopies, physical therapy, occupational therapy, Pilates, chiropractic, and acupuncture. Consulted Dr Miller for a joint replacement. Scheduled an appointment for within two weeks. The staff are affable and talkative, making the check-in process a comfortable one. After x-rays, consulted with Dr Miller about the joint replacement. Dr Miller seemed attentive and patient, but would interject multiple times while we were asking questions about his experience, recovery, pain management, etc. Follow-up pre-op and post-op appointments were similarly conducted -- technically precise, but somewhat lacking in the human touch. The surgery itself was a great success and we appreciated the office staff's help in coordinating the at-home therapy, etc. that comprise the recovery process. I'm a 47 years old female. I've been "bionic" since 2016.  Since my early twenties I've been into sports. When I was 24 years old I did  triathlon for about 4 years. I started to feel pain on my hip while running but I attributed it to not stretching properly. In 2000, 16 years before my surgery, my pain aggravated and I left triathlon to bodybuilding. The increase of muscle mass around my hip decreased the pain considerably. I am a healthy person and always practiced sports but that pain on my hip never faded. The first time I went to a doctor to be examined, he said it was a muscle pain due to extreme activity and I should slow down (this was in Brazil). I moved to the US in 2009. Here I continued into bodybuilding. The pain became chronic and my range of motion became compromised. I went to Brazil in 2012 to consult with a specialist. He was a well-known doctor in-charge of a soccer team in Brazil. He said I had non inflammatory arthrosis from sports and I would need a hip replacement soon. I was chocked. There was no option of a partial replacement or other less invasive surgery. This Brazilian doctor offered me a surgical cement hip. I went back to the US knowing that the surgery was certainly in my future. I'm a personal fitness trainer. The thought of having a hip replacement scared me to death. I thought after the surgery I would never be able to lift weights again, more specifically, do squats on the smith machine with 180 Lbs. or free weight squat with 50 Lbs.  My primary care physician refereed me to Dr. Miller. He listened to my story. I believe he has a background in weightlifting too. So he put himself in my shoes. He questioned about any fall that I could have had in the past. I told him that I was hit by a bus when I was 14 years old. He said that I probably had a fracture that had not healed properly. He also said that I was the youngest of his patients (I was 44 years old) and already candidate for a full hip replacement. He said that good recovery and  physiotherapy would play a huge role on my return to training my clients and working out as I have done before. He even mentioned that my range of motion when squatting would improve a lot. Before surgery I was able to squat only 75 degrees until the head of the femur got stuck to the acetabulum. His confidence and compassion made me decide to go for the surgery. In 30 seconds, all that fear that I once had of having this replacement was changed for a huge excitement to get it done ASAP! Well, after this appointment he confirmed the fracture on my femur. The femur was fractured at the age of 14 and it healed improperly creating bone spurs. The wear and tear of walking, running, lifting weights destroyed the cartilage between the head of the femur and the acetabulum. My surgery happened in June, 2016. The morning after surgery I was able to walk with a walker. I got home and followed the recovery instructions properly. I started physiotherapy at home and on day 5 I was already walking with canes.  On day 5 post surgery, I was also able to stop taking pain medication. I felt no pain!!! Zero pain!!! The only pain I was feeling was from the suture on my gluten that was made to reach the bone. The size of the scar was impressively small for such a huge surgery, only 4,5 inches! After the physiotherapy at home, I started to do my own physiotherapy. I took my time! I was so happy for being pain free! I enjoyed every minute of my recovery. I was able to be back training my clients 3 months post surgery. I put a lot of work on recovering the range of motion of my right hip. My right hamstring was way shorter than the left one due to lack of ROM. It took me 8 months to squat properly for 45 degrees. But I did it!!! And I do it! I came back full force on my workout routine, with my ROM improved 8 months after surgery. Last year, I attended the police academy. One of the hardests in CA. This academy was 22 weeks long, not 24 weeks long like the most academies. The training was insane! 6 foot wall jump, 6 foot fence jump, 7 miles running up the hills, wrestling, defensive tactics, lots of falls, jiu-jítsu. I was the oldest of my class, almost twice the age of other students. I made it! I graduated! I was the only bionic person there and I'm so proud of it! I was reborn after my surgery! I will always remember what Dr. Miller told me during my very first appointment: "What are you waiting for?" I got hit by a car in crosswalk, alrhy my partial knee replacement was intact, my ACL and PTL was damaged beyond repair. Tricky operation in that Dr Miller had to remove my partial and install a complete knee replacement. Dr Miller explained the whole process in detail including risk. The operation was a complete success. Follow on visits with him and his PA, Jose, was, in my opinion, outstanding. Again, detailed instructions. 12 weeks after surgery I'm at over 120° deflection with virtually no pain. His office staff is excellent. I had double TKR one year apart with Dr. Miller. I found Grace, his assistant, knowledgeable and kind. Yes Dr. Miller is not a man of many words or feelings, but I do not find it to be a negative. My problem is with Stanford. I have lingering pain and have seen a few doctors. The results? Since everything on X-rays looks perfect, after 3 years, everyone seems to agree that the pain is caused by scar tissue. Unfortunately I was part on a study and did not ask for PT immediately after surgery but went home with on online Apple Watch PT program. I was misinformed and I should have had both. Stanford did not offer or schedule PT at home and off site. There were other complications at the hospital, allergic reaction, excessive pain medication, etc. that may have contributed to my current chronic pain. Ultimately, I had surgery due to advanced painful osteoarthritis, but I exchanged one pain for another. When a surgeon tells you that 20-30% of patients do not find surgery to be successful, assume you will be one of those when considering your options. read more

Be ware! This Doctor only cares for his pockets. He did a surgery on my knee and after the surgery I barely saw him . He defers everything to his assistants who are not always very knowledgeable either. (one of them made a serious mistake regarding my medications which thankfully I caught it on time) Appointments are hard to make, I had serious problems with surgery and trying to make an appointment to see him 2 days after, he called me selfish for wanting to take away other patients time! Choosing a surgeon to perform a total hip replacement based on Yelp reviews is probably not a wise plan. However, that's what I did, and I'm delighted with the outcome. All the rave comments you'll read here about Dr. Miller, his PA Gracee, his office manager Michael, and the rest of his office staff are absolutely true. I was looking for a very experienced but youngish surgeon associated with a teaching hospital who has tons of experience doing hip replacements. Dr. Miller fitted the bill perfectly. The fact that he operates at El Camino Hospital in Los Gatos as well as at Stanford was an added plus. El Camino is a wonderfully friendly but efficient place, convenient to my home in Santa Cruz, and with the added benefit that Dr. Miller does all his own surgery there--I knew my operation wouldn't be performed by a student under Dr. Miller's supervision! My new hip is 3 1/2 weeks old now and we're getting along great. I'm walking a lot, I'm off the strong pain meds, and I'm generally pain free. The hip precautions are still in effect, so I can't tie my right shoe and getting dressed in the morning is a bit awkward as I try to line up my right foot with my pant leg. The only pain I experience is when I'm being a bit cocky and start to violate the hip precautions--for example, leaning too far forward. I nearly didn't write this review, figuring that Dr. Miller doesn't need another 5 star rave-up review. But then I realized that I learned a lot from reading and rereading the 17 reviews that influenced me to choose Dr. Miller. So, let me share with you some tips: - Get as fit as you can prior to the surgery. My pilates instructor suggested exercises for me to do (clam shells, cross-over crunches, and a wonderful exercise where I draped myself face down over an exercise ball in a frog position with forearms on the floor and then squeezed my glutes, making my frog legs twitch satisfyingly. You can't overdo the glute squeezes!). I also walked a lot in the weeks leading up to the surgery, even the painful 10 days before the surgery when I couldn't take any SAIDs. - If possible, have your care giver accompany you to the pre-surgery appointment with Dr. Miller. If the hospital offers a joint replacement class (as El Camino Hospital in Los Gatos does), both of you should attend to learn about the pre- and post-op procedures, the drugs you're likely to receive, and the assistive devices the hospital provides (these include the marvelous sock aid, a grabber, a long shoe horn, elastic shoe laces, a foam wedge for separating your legs in bed, and (for Dr. Miller's patients) a simple device to lift and move the surgical leg in and out of bed). After three and a half weeks, I'm still gratefully using the sock device and the shoe horn. - Arrange all your other assistive devices ahead of time. Prior to the operation, I bought a toilet seat riser with handles at a thrift shop (an essential piece of equipment!). I wish I had also purchased a walker--due to a screw-up at the hospital, I had no walker for the first two days at home. Believe me, a cane is no substitute! By the time my husband brought home the walker, I hardly needed it. - Arrange outpatient PT early on because (1) a good PT provider will be booked well in advance, and (2) health insurers love to delay--UHC quoted a wait of 5 to 15 days for authorization! The homecare PT I received through Visiting Nurses was very basic and not particularly helpful. I hope my experience isn't typical. - Don't expect your post-op experience to be entirely pain free! I feel that Dr. Miller does a great job with pain management, but a certain amount of pain is guaranteed, especially initially. I would say that mine never exceeded 4 out of 10, and I experienced it mainly when getting in and out of bed and in and out of the car. Now that I have my new hip, I can tell that it won't be too long before my right knee will need to be replaced. At least I know exactly the right person--and right hospital--for the next surgery. read more

I had an excellent experience with Dr. Miller and his team. I had my hip replaced and did a ton of research before I committed to the procedure. I finally felt comfortable with Dr. Miller and his approach which significantly reduced the recovery time compared to my father's same procedure which he had done a year ago. My surgery was scheduled for 10:00am and I was cleared to go home by the physical therapist and the doctor by 6:00pm the same day. Yes, I went home the same day for a hip replacement which is awesome! Thank you, Dr. Miller, for a smooth and seamless procedure and recovery which gave my life back to play with my children. I think that Dr. Miller is a good surgeon, with the Stanford seal of approval, and in the end my hip replacement seems to be successful. However, I experienced complications and great pain in El Camino Hospital, which led to a longer stay, and then continued pain and complications at home, leading to a very slow recovery. Both in the hospital and post-op appointments, I found Dr. Miller to be defensive and dismissive. Based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend him. read more

Went to Dr Miller end of last year to obtain a second opinion on a recent knee replacement. I'd been told by other physicians and patients he can be very rude, and unfortunately, this was also my experience with him. He was rudely accusatory the moment he walked in the room, stating I refused xrays by his staff, when in reality I told his staff I just had xrays that were available if they wanted. He was extremely rude with me, abrupt, and blunt. Not at all anyone I would ever consider to see again, let alone operate on me. Waste of my time and money seeing him, and he offered absolutely no clear opinion as to what was causing my knee issues, and instead told me nothing could be done until at least a year post op. read more

"The vast majority of hip replacement experts in this country have abandoned hip resurfacing as it has been shown to have worse long term results than total hip replacement. Serious complications (pseudotumors, allergic reactions, cobalt poisoning) have become more commonly recognized in metal on metal reconstructions, like in the Birmingham Hip Resurfacing procedure." This statement is really a broad brush comment that is not the current state of hip resurfacing. If you are a good candidate for hip resurfacing (age, male, good bone condition, etc) the results vs total hip replacement are not what you are stating. The results you are talking about are dated, and due primarily to less experienced surgeons, and patient profiles most associated with women and smaller sized men. Current hip resurfacing procedures, done in the last ten years, by experienced surgeons who position the device correctly, and are selective with their patients, are not showing the endpoints you are claiming. I had to fly out of state to an expert, who has done over 3,000 of these procedures. I have seen the ten year data. Candidates for hip resurfacing tend to have done some research and have basic knowledge of whether or not they are actually "good candidates". Your website had hip resurfacing mentioned, enough to have made me call, since I was trying to find someone in Northern California who had enough procedures under their hat for me to trust them. You don't do the procedure is what you should say. Or take it off your website. I am 51, male, in good shape, and the chance of pseudotumors, allergic reactions, and cobalt poisoning are not likely in my case, since I am not female, do not require a small sized BHR device (now gone from the market), and am within the preferred age range. And I went to a surgeon who has done a lot of these procedures. So the part about hip resurfacing showing worse long term results than total hip resurfacing as a starting point for your argument is misleading, and, not true for those who are considered good candidates. read more

If you read my previous Review about Dr Miller's office staff you know I was very impressed with their professionalism. Now 2 weeks after my Double Knee Total Replacement surgery I feel I have enough information to write a review about Dr Miller's surgery skills. In a word, Excellent! And the Pain management has been superb from Day 1. I was not joking when I told Dr Miller as he removed the bandages from my knees to inspect the incision after 2 weeks "Ow! that is the most pain I have felt since before the surgery!" Here is my abreviated Diary Surgery - Day 1: After I checked into Stanford prior to the surgery, the assorted Stanford nurses and attendants would ask who is your Dr? I would tell them and they would just rave, "Oh, you are very lucky" or "His patients always do very well" Hearing that from professionals that just do surgery all day long was very comforting. And I know that they don't just say that about all the Drs because I overheard one of the same nurses asking another patient who had another Dr and her response was "Don't worry, You'll do fine" As part of the pre surgery I met with the Anesthesiologist team and explained to them I had 2 surgeries in the past and that I was knocked out for hours after the surgery and woke up completely disoriented. They recommended a Spinal block which is kind of like an epidural, it is a shot at the spine that blocks all sensation below the shot. I got the shot which felt like any other shot, just a minor pricking (They numb the area prior to the shot). I cannot say enough good things about this shot. They accompanied the shot with a minor sedative that knocked me out just long enough for the surgery. In fact I woke up in the OR as they were putting the medical equipment away. What amazed me is that I woke up completely coherent without any of the problems I had with my wrist or tooth surgeries. In fact I was so together the Head OR nurse handed me a phone and said "Here, why don't you call your wife and let her know you're OK" I did and my wife was shocked and relieved to be hearing from me from the OR :) Day 2&3 Because I had a Double knee replacement my surgery was scheduled late in the day. I got out of surgery around 7pm so Day 1 quickly rolled into Day 2. Anyway, basically I laid in bed reading and hanging out. The scheduled pain meds kept the pain under a 3 on a scale of 1-10 the entire time. On Day 2 I was able to get out of bed and shuffle to the toilet with a walker so I didn't feel like a complete invalid. By Day 3 I was walking a with a walker around the hospital wing and able to go up the small flight of stairs which is a prerequisite to being released from the hospital. I was released around 12pm of Day 3 and my wife took me home. I lived on the recliner with my feet elevated and my wife attending to my needs. The In house Physical Therapist came by every few days to check on me and to give me new exercises to keep my muscles loose. Nothing hard at this time since I was still in the healing process. Day 8 I switched from Walker to Cane! My kids are relieved because they were embarrassed by their Dad and his walker :) Day 14 I'm able to get around without the cane. I still carry it and have it with me per Dr's orders, but I don't use it for support, just as a back up and to hit people with if they annoy me. Day 16 I started the outpatient Rehab. Oh, that's where the pain starts! Seriously, my pain has never been over a 4 (It only went up to a 4 briefly when Dr Miller pulled those danged bandaids off :) I'm glad I saved those Percosets pain pills! I stopped taking them around Day 12 because I wasn't needing them, but I now take 1 or 2 prior to the Rehab session so that I can do the stretching they want without crying :) All in all I can't say enough good things about Dr Miller and the professionals that he surrounds himself with. Nothing but the best. I've missed so much over the years due to the pain of walking. I look forward to being able to take walks with my wife on the beach and play with my 4 young kids. I'm an ex-Orthopedic nurse (RN) and I worked at Stanford for many years. I left nursing to work in the medical device/pharmaceutical marketplace. So, I know how to research surgeons!! I chose Dr. Miller after interviewing six surgeons in the area. The reason why is because Dr. Miller ALSO trained at Rush in Chicago on performing a hip replacement via the 2-3 inch incision which is a technological advancement and a cosmetic breakthrough. I had my Right total hip replaced in March 2013 and I only had to stay in the hospital for one night, left as soon as Dr. Miller made rounds and I was sitting in the chair waiting for HIM;) In addition, his surgery was so perfect that I took care of myself post-operatively, because I have no family in the area. His partner-Dr. Vaughn assisted him on my hip replacement. I'm a young, late 40'ish female and I was horrified at the thought of an incision and today it's hardly visible and non-visible with a bathing suit brief. In addition, I'm African American and my incision never keloid. Dr. Miller used glue and never put staples sutures in my incision. I'm back at the gym and getting back in shape. I was a size 4 a year prior to my surgery, jumped to a 12 due to limited exercise pre-hip and now 1 year later, a size 6-8. I have no problem at the gym, just can't run like a maniac for an hour. Being a nurse, I'm seen many complications post-op hip and my best friend just had her hip replaced two weeks ago in Chicago and she had horrible complications, stayed in the hospital a week---ugh! What's extremely relevant is that I didn't contract an infection in the OR, post-operatively or at home! MRSA is so common in the hospitals and it has nothing to do with the surgeon's technique, the organism just creeps out of control. Dr. Miller did not have to give me a foley for the surgery...I refused, actually it was no need! The BEST outcome is that my GAIT IS STRAIGHT! I was dragging my leg before the surgery and looking like a female night of the living dead walker...SERIOUSLY! My pain post-op was minimal, so I only took a few pills the first two-three days after leaving the hospital. I wish she could've had Dr. Miller and Dr. Vaughn as her surgeons!!! Dr. Miller is awesome and so are his office staff. It's really important for a successful doctor to have a staff that shines. Not only is Dr. Miller an outstanding surgeon and doctor (I had a hip replacement), but his staff is incredible. The guy who runs the show at the office is Michael Campbell, and I've never met a person who is better at his job than Michael. I instantly felt like we were old friends and he put me at ease with every step of the process leading up to my surgery and during the recover. I've never had such a pleasant experience with anyone at a doctor's office, and that's not an exaggeration. Dr. Miller is professional, honest, and friendly. He explained my situation and offered no nonsense advice. I instantly trusted him with my case, and up till the moment I went under on the operating table, he made me feel confident and relaxed that I made the right decision. Not to mention I'm shocked (in a good way) at how small the incision was and what a trouble-free recovery I had. That's an indication of a superb surgeon. Dr Miller did my hip replacement on June 9th. He is one of the best surgeons around. I was also very nervous about doing this, but I had a good feeling about Dr. Miller, and his office staff. Surgery started about 8am, and I woke up in recovery some time before 10am. I was not in any pain. My husband told me Dr. Miller was down in the waiting room by 9:10 with good news all went perfectly.... I was on my phone emailing work by the afternoon. Work wasn't the focus that day, but my mind was very clear to communicate from about 11 am on. He is on top of pain management, so that was not a problem. I am working on my exercises to strengthen those muscles and should be 100% very soon. My husband wants a hip replacement from Dr. Miller now because he really liked what he saw. (He doesn't need one) lol. Dr. Miller has a great office staff. They are all very nice and helpful. I had such a wonderful experience at El Camino Hospital in Los Gatos. And they all hold Dr. Miller in such high regard professionally, and personally. They are proud he's one of their surgeons. I'm Dyanna W. I am the one who had hip replacement. Using my husbands yelp account to write review as we share the same email address. Soo, I'm not your bravest person when it comes to surgery. I preferred to live in constant pain and denial rather then face hip replacement surgery. Enter Dr. Miller, who convinced me otherwise. I was terrified about taking that first step ...was thinking more about hip replacements of old..long recovery and lots of pain. I can honestly say that the biggest ouch in the whole surgery and recovery was when they stuck the IV in! I came too in the recovery room, pain free, thinking the surgery hadn't been performed yet. Three hours latter they had me up and walking. 24 hours later I was sent home, walking with a cane. The whole experience has been truly amazing. it has now been three weeks, my three inch incision has completely healed and I have the go ahead to start working out in the pool. For those of you who read this and like myself have put off going through with surgery, I recommend you make an appointment with Dr. Miller. He is the best of the best; compassionate, dedicated, and has a genuine passion for helping people, something in this day and age a rare commodity. My whole experience with Dr. Miller and his staff, from that first phone call to his office talking to the two Michaels who helped me navigate the crazy insurance maze, to getting me in quickly to see Dr. Miller, has been one of caring , professionalism, and best of all, pain free. I was referred to Dr.Miller after speaking with another area and I have never made a better decision. He and his Los Gatos staff were a pleasure to with throughout the process. I had a total hip replacement. From the first consultation I felt like all of my questions and concerns were a priority to Dr. Miller and his staff. He encouraged questions and communicates well with me as a person and a patient. Look, having the end of your femur cut off is never a lot of fun but I was walking in one day and in PT the next. First consultation, he provided my husband several options. The next visit was his surgery. Recently my husband had his full knee replacement surgery (right knee) on the morning of 09/07/2016 at El Camino Hospital in Los Gatos. Dr. Miller had informed me that he will come and speak with me after his surgery at 8:30 am. Sure enough, Dr. Miller was right on time. When my spouse came out of surgery, he was in the recovery room wearing a medical compression hose on both his legs to ensure proper blood flow to both his legs so that there's no blood clot after the surgery. In addition, his right knee was wrapped up with a cryocast. The cold water was circulating his knee to reduce any swelling. Several hours after his surgery, the physical therapist came into his room and assisted him out of the hospital bed to help him to walk using a walker. It was amazing to see my husband walking down the hallway using a walker. (This was a "video" moment) The nurses at El Camino Hospital were very attentive to my husband and me when I was experiencing a silent migraine. The nurses made their rounds and ensured my husband were given the right proper medications and followed up on him every hour. The physical therapist was able to help him walk and he was doing so well that he was given the option to either stay over night at the hospital or go home. My spouse opted to go home. After we returned home, two days later, the home healthcare physical therapist came to the house for an evaluation. The next visit, he started his physical therapy. The home healthcare physical therapy ended on 9/28. At this time, my husband was able to bend his knees at 95 degrees which was such an improvement. Before he had his knee replacement surgery, he can't even bend his knees at 95 degrees. My husband went back to see Dr. Miller for his post op on Thursday, Sept 29 and he will be released to go back to work on Oct 17th while still continuing outpatient physical therapy for another 6 weeks. Thru this whole ordeal, it's so good to see my husband walking. It's well worth it! We both can say that Dr. Miller is a miracle worker! (Thank you Dr. Miller!) read more

I was very worried about having both knees totally replaced. We knew no one who had experienced this surgery; then we learned of several relatives who did. Being scared I did what my parents always advised: Find a doctor who has done many knee replacements and is respected by other doctors. I interviewed several doctors and was very impressed with Dr. Miller - and still hold him in high regard. His office staff is very professional and always ready to help or answer questions. They inspired trust. It was very reassuring to hear knowledgeable people rave about what a good surgeon he is: nurses, patients, physical therapists. The post surgery few days were painful because I was out of it when I left the hospital and both my husband and I didn't really understand the orders for the medication. (Our son described me as loopy!) When I had the second surgery (on the other knee) we got it straight and it was a much better experience. WE SHOULD HAVE CALLED DR. MILLER. My last surgery was November 17 and my last physical therapy appointment was on February 25 and I felt ready to strike out on my own with another mile walk. (On my way to that appointment, I tripped on a part of the sidewalk which had tree roots pushing it up. Broke the fifth metatarsal in my right foot. Now I am grounded once more.) Oh boy. Had heard good things about this Dr. and went to see him for swelling in my knee. He was dismissive, arrogant and defensive when I was asking some deeper questions about what might be causing my problems (he did end up apologizing, but for me the damage was done) . He definitely doesn't like to be challenged in any way. If you like taking orders and can deal with a big ego maybe you would like Dr. Miller. ;) Suffice it to say he wasn't for me. Also any practice that forces you to take an xray before consulting with you is borderline unethical. read more

Dr. Miller did a total knee replacement on my right knee in March 2019. He and his partner, Dr. Vaughn have taken care of my problematic knees for the past decade. I wouldn't trust anyone else! I opted to have my surgery done at El Camino Hospital right around the corner from the clinic and had the best experience. The nursing staff were all wonderful! I was really nervous about the whole thing but Dr. Miller was very confident and that really helped me to relax. He patiently answered all of my questions, came out to talk to my husband after surgery, and saw me on his rounds early the next morning. I could have opted for a partial replacement, but I asked Dr. Miller to make the best decision once he got in there to see how things looked. I am so glad I ended up with the total replacement. I went home the following day. Truly amazing! Recovery is hard work, but the reward of being 100% pain free is amazing! He is the best! read more
