Just wanted to update: the photo attached is a photo AFTER surgery. Also I forgot to mention, when I went in for a check-up appointment (with a boot on my foot) he grabbed my wrists and asked how they were doing..

She didn't even try to properly diagnose them and just ordered an X-ray. Their directions for X-rays were totally inaccurate. It wasted my time. When I called them back, the front desk person was not helpful, and it wasn't easy to get in touch with them. Finally, I got the X-ray done. I made another appointment with them. I waited over a month before I got to see the doctor again. This time was with the husband. He just looked at the X-ray quickly and recommended PHP. He didn't diagnose my knees either. Somehow, I went ahead with the PHP that day. He said it's not covered by insurance and it costs $900, which I paid right there. The PHP worked for a month or so, but it wore off quickly. And they also claimed my insurance, which I questioned with no definite answer from them. I called and emailed their admin who takes care of billing, but they were silent and cricket. It was a total waste of my time and money. Please stay away from them. Recently, I met a doctor friend who used to know this couple. He didn't recommend them. I wished I knew before and had gone to Stanford instead.

It really is difficult to get hold of the front desk as well. The whole entire appointment itself took less than 10 minutes majorly discussing about insurance coverage for the MRI that I requested to take since his wife informed that if there is no pain in the ankle that I had due to a previous fracture injury then there's nothing much to do. She didn't even think about observing it but with her two eyes and told me not to worry since it's from previous damaged tissues around the ligaments which I can even observe that myself. Despite filling out the online pre check in form you still have to fill out multiple papers of new patient forms; really disappointed with her bedside manner nonetheless the professionalism from her. I requested to see a doctor who can listen to my concerns NOT the billing department. Cancelled the whole entire MRI and seeking for a new orthopedic doctor. Good luck.

Dr. Mehta did an x-ray that found no arthritis or bone spurs. She recommended PT type exercises. She said it was a minor tear and didn't recommend surgery that could possibly make it worse over time and cause arthritis. I did the exercises religiously for a month and took a prescription anti-inflammatory for a week. For years I continued to play tennis and pickleball with no recurring discomfort as long as I did the exercises three times a week. As I approach 80 years old (now I walk/hike/bike ride instead of court sports) I still have no issues with the knee. And a study recently came out saying meniscus surgery has proven to cause a worsening of the tear and painful arthritis. THANK YOU Dr. Mehta for protecting and improving my life.

Save your body, save your time, and save your money and go somewhere else…read more I paid out of network expecting timely orthopedic care; what I got was absolutely zero physical exam, a denied MRI, weeks of delay, and a threat to call 911 when I asked for accountability. I went to see Dr. Pamela Mehta as an out-of-network patient because I was in severe pain in my hip/pelvis area and wanted help quickly. Unfortunately, the visit was one of the most disappointing and unprofessional medical experiences I have had. Before the appointment, I was asked to get an X-ray. At the visit, Dr. Mehta looked at the X-ray and told me it looked fine. When I pointed to the exact area where I had pain, she seemed unsure whether the issue was my hip, rib, abdomen, intestines, or pelvis. That alone was concerning, but what concerned me most was that there was essentially no physical examination at all. She did not ask me to perform any movements, did not test range of motion, did not ask me to lift my leg, did not examine my gait, and did not physically evaluate the painful area. I explained that the pain felt bone-related and became worse when standing on my left foot, but there was still no meaningful hands-on evaluation. Instead, she ordered an MRI and recommended ibuprofen. The MRI was then denied by insurance more than once. Based on the denial explanation I received, the medical necessity was not documented adequately, and the clinical reasoning submitted does not appear to have matched my actual symptoms. Weeks later, the issue is still unresolved, and the office seemed unclear about the peer-to-peer process and the status of the authorization. The whole reason I paid out of network was that I was in serious pain and needed timely, competent care. Instead, I left with no clear diagnosis, no real exam, an MRI request that insurance rejected, and weeks of delay. This is exactly the kind of experience that makes patients lose trust in medical providers: a quick visit, little actual evaluation, an expensive out-of-network bill, and poor follow-through when the authorization fails. When I later went to the office to ask what was going on, the interaction became even more concerning. I was frustrated, but I was there because I had paid for care and still had no answer. During that office interaction, Dr. Mehta initially said something along the lines of reimbursing me so I would leave. When I responded that yes, I wanted my money back, she immediately changed position and said I would not be reimbursed, then threatened to call 911. To me, that felt retaliatory and punitive, not professional. It came across less like a physician trying to resolve a legitimate patient complaint and more like someone trying to use pressure and intimidation once I challenged the quality of care and asked for a refund. Based on my experience, this visit raised serious concerns about competency, documentation, follow-through, professionalism, and judgment under pressure. A doctor can have a bad day, but appearing unsure about the source of pain, skipping a meaningful physical exam, submitting an MRI request that gets denied repeatedly, and then threatening to call 911 after a patient asks for accountability says a lot. I paid out of network expecting expertise, urgency, and professionalism. What I experienced was a rushed and inadequate evaluation, poor documentation, poor follow-through, and an extremely unprofessional response when I questioned the care. If you have hip or pelvis pain and need a careful physical exam, clear clinical reasoning, proper insurance documentation, and respectful follow-through, I would not recommend this office based on my experience. = What is especially troubling about this response is the gaslighting. Instead of addressing the substance of my complaint, Dr. Mehta is trying to rewrite the situation as if the main issue was patient behavior rather than the quality of care, lack of meaningful examination, poor follow-through, and failed MRI authorization process. She says there was a "well documented physical exam." That does not match my experience in the room. I was not asked to perform meaningful movement testing, range-of-motion testing, gait evaluation, leg raise testing, or any hands-on examination of the painful area. Claiming after the fact that a complete exam occurred does not change what I experienced as the patient. She also claims law enforcement was contacted because of "threatening behavior." I strongly reject that characterization. No law enforcement ever showed up, and from my perspective, the 911 threat was used to intimidate me and reframe a legitimate patient complaint as a safety issue in front of other patients and staff. The issue is not simply that insurance denied the MRI. The issue is that I paid out of network expecting timely, competent orthopedic care, but received no clear diagnosis, no meaningful exam from my perspective, poor follow-through, and then a false accusation that I was thr

After a year of a terrible post-op situation I had two more opinions- both of whom said that the wrong procedures were done for my condition- that the procedures were appropriate for a pediatric case but not for a fifty-something woman. I rue the day I chose Dr Kim for my surgery. He apparently trained to be a podiatrist and then decided to get his MD after that for some reason. Even if I was willing, there is no assurance that if I had revisional (corrective) surgery to correct his work that I would be any better than he left me. I cannot hike, walk barefoot, do any exercise that requires prolonged standing/walking. It is awful. I consulted an attorney as to whether or not I had any recourse and sadly was advised that while I have "a case"- the length of time and cost to litigate such a case would not be worth the financial gain. More importantly, I can never get my old foot back and start fresh with a competent surgeon.

Cohen has great bedside manner & it's just an overall nice person as is Dr. King. The office even has x-ray and MRI on site which is helpful. However, after a recent injury, I was referred to Dr. Kim. I don't know if this guy was having a bad day but he was rude, non responsive & left in the middle of my appointment, even though he was an hour late. He was so condescending during the appointment & off putting that his nurse had to apologize on his behalf. He just walked out of the room, as I was asking questions about the injury and never reappeared. My fiancé who attended even said there's no way that guy is operating you, if that's how he acts during an appointment. The challenge with the office staff is getting a response. There are a number of other reviews for the same location and majority are around gaps in response or complete lack of response. I ignored those comments and went back to what I trusted and now know they were justified. I don't know what happened to this practice, but do not go. There are other orthopedic surgeons in the Bay Area, who are great, care about follow up and the overall outcome for their patients. I wish Dr. Cohen and Dr. King would leave this office because there's no way it's getting any more of my business. Now, in the middle of an injury where I was getting treatment from this facility, I'm now having to go to a different orthopedic surgeon.

The mis-diagnosis was one thing but its not the issue that frustrated me. What I thought was unethical was that they asked me to download an app and follow the program for physical therapy. Months later I received a bill showing charges of over $200 for using the app for a month. No input, no feedback, nothing else from them. When I called and asked about the charges, they said they would look into it and get back to me. I never heard anything but got another bill so I called in again and was told this time that i was being billed for the app. When I explained that I had no idea that they would bill me for an app, they said it was disclosed that I would be billed for the diagnosis in the app. I'm sure there was some fine print but what seems questionable to me is that the there was no diagnosis or feedback. I was told if I didn't want to get charged I would have to delete the app, which I did. If you are asked to download an app to assist with your physical therapy, I wouldn't do it from this place. For the short period of time that I did try it, the app contained an amount of information that could have been handed out on a 1-page flyer. It was low tech, clunky, and didn't do much more than check-in so they could send a bill. I hope the few dollars was worth it for them.
