I agree with many of these reviews-- I used Ponseti for about a year and a half and was very disappointed. They just blow leaves around. Visits were 5-10m at best. When we asked the guys to do some actual work -- remove plants that had died in the freeze months prior, trim hedges, weed, etc, we were told "not today-- I am trying to get to my sons baseball game". We expected the work requested would be finished the following week, but it never happened. They also overcharge. They charged us for something like 60 bags of mulch and 140 annuals planted. We did not need that much mulch nor were 140 annuals planted-- we counted. When we alerted Matt to our disappointment with the service we were receiving he said he would "check it out". 4/11/24 Update - Careful who you do business with. Ponseti is now suing me. He is back for more. A simple search on the JP Clerk of Court's website shows he is no stranger to litigation. Truly sad. I know many people have reached out to me in person, on Facebook, or via email regarding this post. We need to hold contractors like this accountable. Thank you for your support. We trusted this man to take our brand new assisted living home & do something special with it, he disregarded my ideas, did what he wanted to do, communicated poorly, & took advantage of us because it looked like we had a lot of money to spend. My wife & I own Audubon Care Homes Assisted Living & Memory Care. We own two small 10 resident assisted living homes in Metairie where we care for seniors who cannot care for themselves. I have lived in this community my entire life, I try to do business locally, & I try to be easy to do business with. Matthew was engaged to do the landscaping for one of the houses mentioned above that was just finishing construction & to refresh landscaping at our first location. In total, he has billed me for about $108,000. He has billed me incorrectly, inflated charges, tried to charge me $275 to meet to discuss what he planned on doing(twice, two charges), he has sent me statements with invoices on them that I have never ever seen, changed charges on at least one item, charged me for incorrect numbers of plants, almost missed the grand opening date for the home because he was not listening when I told him the date & gave him the flyer with the date on it. My experience with him is that he has been childish, unprofessional, argumentative, arrogant and claims his work & materials are far superior to anyone else in the area. I called around & got quotes for the work from other companies & they were literally half of the cost. The only reason i started to investigate my statements was because he invoiced me for 800 society garlic plants(only planted 116), 270 petunias(only 110), 45 & 50 bags of mulch for 'maintenance' that i did not authorize & that did not line up with the original mulch he put down at the houses (32 and 20 bags, respectively). He charged me at total of $13,990 for landscape lighting at one of the locations for front and backyard. Seriously? 14k? This was for a total of 40 lights & two transformers. He told me the lights each cost $90, so that is approx. $3600 in lights, call it $4500 with the transformers. How does this turn into $13,990? And I didn't even see the invoice months later when it just showed up on a statement. One statement he changed from $7440 to $16,865 & I didn't notice until I started going through each one individually, which at this point, has taken a total of 17 hours between sorting through the unorganized billing & invoices & statements. After close to 8 months he finally sent me paper invoices in the mail for me to review after i questioned his charges. Another invoice for $18,805, I knew nothing about until I noticed it on the statement. He also tried to charge me $170 to put fertilizer down at two houses. I can buy two years worth of fertilizer for that much. I told him before you do any additional maintenance type work, you need to let me know first so i know what the charge is before you start, but he failed to do so. He also removed a tree, then planted a massive patch of St. Aug grass where I had Zoysia grass. Since they do absolutely no weed control, i had to personally go to both houses, pull weeds & spray roundup because it was just out of control. The list goes on & on and on. What a nightmare. As far as maintenance work, his guys come for 10 minutes, weed eat a small patch of grass & don't touch the bushes or the weeds. All of the grass is now growing into the beds. How am I supposed to trust him that he puts down fertilizer & uses the quantities he says he uses when everything on my invoices is wildly incorrect. I have dealt with company for 6 months They are unresponsive and show up whenever. They come and blow the leaves around for ten minutes then leave. They left an unplanted flat of flowers here for 3 weeks. They died. I called one of the workers to return because they haven't serviced the back yard in a month. He didn't answer or return my call I spoke to the owner who was totally apathetic. read more

Just terrible. Honestly. I hired them as our umpteenth failed gardener in New Orleans, which is amazing, but bad as the pictures are, they were the best of the eight, if that gives you any indication of the quality of gardeners available here. I wanted them to do maintenance, but it was clear, like it is with so many in this city, he wasn't interested in doing anything without landscape design, and I literally hated everything from the Japanese maples to the badly installed magnolias. I miss my old garden. But what's worse is, my husband asked them not to dig up our climbing traviata red roses, and they did anyway. So he asked them to replace them TWO YEARS AGO, and he still hasn't done it. I keep giving these people more chances to improve, and I've sent pictures and messages in hopes that they'd "get the hint," but they just keep coasting and, with a freeze some weeks back, they never even bothered to clean that up, and I had asked them to make the plants behind the pool more even across the wall and not so overgrown, and they couldn't even figure that out. After a month at our other house up north, I came back to the pictures, and that was just the final straw. I don't know what I was paying a $250 monthly maintenance charge for because every time they came, the garden just looked worse and worse. read more

Service was mediocre at best, but what I am most upset about is the lack of professionalism from one of his employees. Young guy that pulled up in the van, name is something along the lines of Cane. He was loud, cursing, making derogatory statements, and even a few racial slurs. I do understand this isn't an office setting they are working in, but there should always be some level of professionalism no matter your profession. I just can't recommend this company to anyone. read more

I never leave reviews of anyone but at this point I feel morally obligated to warn the people of NOLA not to interact with this business at all. Matthew is the least organized business owner I have ever interacted with. Perhaps this could be forgiven if he were professional or affordable, however he is none of these things. On the first landscaping job, his crew broke my water line and destroyed some pre-existing plants that I didn't expect him to destroy. I brushed it off. I discussed hauling out the debris they left behind, he insisted that I should not lift a finger, they do all the work- I leave it and he sends someone to clean up for an additional fee. His guys left my landscape lighting attached by a pile of extension cords obstructing my front door for a week or two, I finally texted and he eventually sent out someone to wire it in at an additional fee. Another light stopped working, I ultimately fixed it myself. He repeatedly (3 times over 3 months for one instance, however this has been every time) sends bills for services that have already been paid despite me reaching out for months and noting that my payments had cleared with the invoice number documented with the payment. We agreed upon monthly maintenance which never happened, he literally just didn't show up; then he came nearly 4 months later to "make it right" despite me very politely but straightforwardly stating that his services would not be needed. What does he do? You guessed it, sends me another bill for the same invoice he has been sending ALL YEAR DESPITE ME HAVING PAID IT IMMEDIATELY WHEN HE SENT IT. Despite me telling him months ago that this is the most frustrating interaction I've ever had in my life. I can't even begin to imagine what keeps this guy in business in the first place. read more

Then he immediately had great ideas that would dress it up and make it look amazing. He worked within my budget and even added a couple of stones for the front (to step on) at no cost. Ponseti Landscaping did an AMAZING job on my yard. I contacted Matthew Ponseti to rehab my disastrous front yard. My front and side yard were covered in old, broken concrete, some buried, and some visible, overrun with weeds and an overgrowth of unwanted banana trees. Ponseti was undaunted by the task. Ponseti's crew rid my yard of approximately 500 square feet of concrete and weeds and built a gorgeous front yard garden, along with installing a new sidewalk, digging out my hidden curb, and planting grass and lovely crape myrtles for ornament and much needed shade between my sidewalk and curb. Ponseti also installed a lovely herringbone walkway with antique bricks that exhibits a time-worn elegance leading one to believe it must have been there from the time my home was built in the 1890's. Where once there was an unplantable mass of concrete and weeds, there now stands a gorgeous self-sustaining garden including camellias, society garlic, a beautiful maple tree, petunias, etc..., complete with irrigation and thoughtfully placed landscape lighting. To top it all off, with my new landscaping, my home's value recently appraised much higher than I could have expected, thanks in part to its Ponseti Landscaping Face-lift, making a lucrative refinance possible for me. Even more rewarding, my front yard garden, a living exhibit of Ponseti's vision, won 3rd place in the 2017 NOLA dot com "Jazzin' Up the Neighborhood" contest! Matthew Ponseti really knows his field. I found him a pleasure to work with and appreciated his excellent and attentive communication skills. Matthew Ponseti is the worst landscaper/business I have ever used. He does not follow up with his customers and never goes out to check on his jobs. He simply sends out completely inexperienced crews and mails bills to customers. We tried to use him for quite a few years and attempted to communicate our needs with him, which were not complicated, and he could never follow through nor did he care. When we did inform him that we were having to do the work and wouldn't need his services anymore he had the nerve to bill us. I would not recommend him!! Use someone else! read more
