After a short tractor ride to the fields, we started with the raspberries and were able to fill our container in about 20 minutes. We then moved on to the strawberry fields. After spending an hour and a half in blistering heat, I was only able to fill about one-quarter of the container because there were virtually no strawberries available. Everyone picking alongside us seemed equally disappointed and frustrated that containers were being sold despite the lack of fruit in the fields. What made the experience even more frustrating was the no-refund policy, which meant we were out the money regardless of the poor conditions. I understand that crop availability can vary, but customers should be informed when fields are nearly picked over or offered a refund or alternative. Unfortunately, this experience was extremely disappointing, and I would not recommend this place to others.

All of the staff was dressed up in Halloween costumes, which made it fun for the families too. Pie pumpkins were only $1 each, and these came in a variety of sizes from small to medium. Also, the small white pumpkins were only $1 each as well. Bales of hay are $6 a piece, and bushels of corn were $5 each. Also available was Indian corn bushels, pumpkins by the pound, and other decorations. They had lots of baked goods for sale, well as apple cider, popcorn and other goodies. The staff were very helpful and even offered to carry my items to the counter for me while I was shopping. One of the staff loaded my car with the bale of hay and corn bushels. But my sadness was quickly laid to rest because the new owners are just as enthusiastic about the farm and their produce as the previous owners. What do I mean by unique? Well, this time I found long bean which is commonly utilized in southeast Asian cuisine. I love adding it to many different types of salads. I simply wash it and cut it up and add it raw. Its delicious and healthy and once again I have never seen this at a mid west farm stand. This farm also produces very good honey. The new owner is also attempting to try growing some grapes for wine making and of course I purchased a bottle of his young red wine that has not been aged.

Family told me about this place and low & behold they have a large variety of meats at a reasonable price. Navigating the store is a bit cumbersome has they have it set up to flow a certain way. Other than that, for it to be on the smaller side of grocery stores it packs a lot of stuff from the butchered meat, to liquor, to seasonings. I had to do two laps to take it all in and stay to my grocery list, not randomly picking up stuff to purchase. Ultimately I picked up a few of their custom made brats, oxtail, and wings. The oxtail came out to $17 for what normally cost a bit more in other stores in other states. The wings prising wasn't bad either. So I'm definitely going to be back for that wagyu steak and other meats from the butcher area. Overall impression of Lowery's is high. Employees were friendly, they had a variety of goods, prices were reasonable.
