I am super GLAD I was able to pick up my final pieces from this store and NOT have to deal with the nasty owner, Dvora, ever again! The clothes here are beautiful and exceptional. It is very pricey and I am eternally grateful for being helped by Lucia, this classy Italian woman who has impeccable style and taste. Her opinions matter a lot and I was able to get two dresses, a skirt, and a sharp blazer! I am sad this store is closing soon because I have been an original customer for over 15 years. Their pieces are classic and sexy, super sophisticated and timeless, but I think it's closing because you occasionally have to run into snobby owners like Dvora, who DO NOT know customer service, treat them like garbage by insinuating a customer doesn't have money, and also I heard pays her workers only 1% commission. It's terrible because I recall spending thousands here expecting Lucia to get a decent commission, but 1% is pathetic and really low especially when living in Santa Monica and West LA is not cheap at all. I am going to miss Lucia and the way she always remained classy and helpful when it comes to helping a customer such as myself look absolutely stunning, but I definitely will NOT miss the owner Dvora and her negative energy!!!!! read more

Someone had told me this store was one of the longest running on Montana which made me curious since I've seen many come and go since living in the area. So I went in there just now for the first time and there were two women working and two female customers. I walked around and looked at stuff to see styles and price points but the thing that struck me was how engaged and involved the two women who were helping the customers were. They made sure to ask if I needed anything without any pressure or making me feel out of place. Eventually when one woman (Erin) wasn't helping one of the customers, she asked if I had any questions. So I said "someone told me this is the longest running store on Montana, what is it that makes this store different and able to survive for so long?" I suggested my hypothesis and she more or less confirmed by saying "it's only us two who work here and we're both professional stylists." They make the experience personal and fun. They help women who go into the store leave feeling beautiful and confident. If I was a woman and I had the money I would shop there! read more

OMG- I heart this boutique. I got lost in here yesterday after lunch playing in their accessory display. They had the most amazing collection of hand bags and wallets, scarves, wraps, jewelry... I was especially taken with the evening clutches she has right now- satin, gems, gorgeous lining... Swoon. They carry some fabulous brands like Olga Berg (reasonably priced), Ted Baker (I heart Ted Baker), and others that I can't remember right now but believe me, this store is just lovely and so very tastefull. I will be returning after payday to collect a fancy wallet I spied (Marry Christmas to me), this awesome red patten leather clutch (Happy Chanukah to me), and my new satin evening clutch with the black stones (Happy Kwanza to me). I've lived in the area for over twenty years and have walked on Montana Ave on countless occasions. Almost every time I've stepped foot into M'attias (after seeing a nice piece in the window), I've been faced with unbelievable pretentiousness. And unfortunately, on a couple of occasions, I've been faced with blatant unkindness. On one specific occasion, for example, one of the employees commented quite distastefully on my figure size (I'm a size 10, for the record). These multiple negative experiences have compelled me to write this review. To the managers of M'attias: I would highly recommend schooling some of your staff (specifically an above middle-aged woman with a fairly thick European accent) on the art of humility and kindness (it really goes a long way in sales). read more

So sad the store is closing, Lucia has changed my wardrobe and improved my life. Never realized how important styling help can be, and she is fabulous. Will miss her tips and great eye for what fits me and can be coordinated with my other pieces. Wherever she works next will be the place to go, she is a treasure! What a great boutique!! I was out for a walk and popped in just to see what was inside... within minutes I was in the fitting room trying on the most flattering tops and beautiful and unique dresses. How do I choose? I liked them all. Lucia was extremely helpful and honest. She had wonderful advice on how to create multiple looks with one piece. I happily walked out with two dresses and a fun top. I'll be going back tomorrow for another top and jacket I needed to think about. Dang, I should have just bought it!! Wish I lived here!! What would I do without Lucia?? She is one of the most amazing (& honest) stylists I've ever met. Yes, M'Attias has a wonderful selection of clothes, but without Lucia's keen eye, taste, imagination, understanding of my style & comfort, & friendliness, I could never pull together SO many fabulous and flattering outfits for my body shape. She even helps me select terrific, versatile pieces to go with clothes I have in my closet that she sold me in the past!!
