These people ignore your questions or just don't listen. If you bring up a problem, they just seem not to have heard you. Either their communication skills are very poor or this is a well-thought out part of their business model to incur more revenue. The consequence leads to frustration for you and more money for both them and your opponent's lawyer. I didn't deal with Holly Mattice, my dealings were with Brian Tubis who clearly was never working for me and failed in every way to advance my interests. Mr. Charles Wood along with his assistant, Kathy helped me with a particularly nasty eviction. I have been a land lord for going on 8 years and have never experienced bad tenants like the one I just evicted. I guess my luck finally ran out. Long story short, my ex-tenant is very well versed in California rental laws and used the system to squat in my home for as long as legally possible. Throughout the entire process, Mr. Wood and Kathy communicated with me regularly and kept me informed, and the case on track. If I could give this office a lower rating I would. I contracted with them last year and was asked to give them a $7500.00 retainer. When meeting with them at their office they told me to only talk if its important because the more I talk the more it will cost me. When I did talk they did not listen to the details and were very rude. When we got to court they sided with the opposing counsel! I was completely miss represented by this firm and Attorney Cynthia Kairys. Weak, unprepared, and rude. I fired them after the first court appearance and they took my whole retainer for one court appearance and very little paperwork. I contacted with another law office in the area they called for a new court appearance with in two weeks, got me immediate visitation and won me custody of my child. I cannot express my disappointment with this firm enough and would not refer them to anyone. read more

I see that there WERE10 negative reviews on Mattice Law Offices, mine included from just a couple weeks ago, in which all are deleted from the front page where they show, and the 10 negative reviews are now listed as "non-helpful" reviews, and cannot be read without digging into the webpage. I am not only disillusioned with Yelp as I still see nothing wrong according to Yelp rules with my review from 6/6, but find it more than unusual that there are 10 negative reviews tossed off the "helpful" review list, leaving 4 that rave about the firm, most from the same person or related. If this is how Yelp is working, than I guess it is not the helpful website we all may have thought it was. I get the feeling the law firm itself was responsible for having all negative reviews taken off, but did not realize that Yelp is being controlled like that. So I will briefly review the facts of my one time meeting with this firm again, try to make sure I do not include anything against the Yelp rules, and see if this too is taken down. I made an Will & Trust appointment in late April with the receptionist, who quoted me the price of $650, in which I would pay $150 at the initial meeting to be applied to the $650 total. I met with the lawyer Brian Tubis, he spoke in general terms for 15 minutes explaining several "options" with addl services included in their Will & Trust Service, at which point I really thought I need to confirm the price for this. He said the price is $1500, and I told him about the quoted price, he said they had a price increase and had added services (this had to be withing just 6 weeks), and I told him I only want the basic I was quoted. He said he would have to talk to an "Associate" about doing that, but would need me to pay the initial $150 either way. I reluctantly paid, thinking they will check with the receptionist and conclude they should honor the old price since quoted when I made the appointment,, but they declined me flat, said the price is $1500 and I asked for a refund of my $150 deposit, and was flatly declined again. This was like a "bait & switch" to me, and even if not, a reputable company will always honor their quoted prices, even if they did have a price increase of nearly 150%, which in itself seems very strange. TRUE FACT - THEY QUOTED A PRICE ON THE PHONE, DECLINING TO KEEP IT AT TIME OF APPOINTMENT. I I will never use this firm for anything, and advise anyone else to do the same, they came across as extremely dishonest, that is my opinion. (Yelp, do not take my opinion down) read more

I hired this firm and the lawyer that was assigned to my divorce case was good. I couldn't continue to pay the fee's I was being charged. When I asked if he would work with me, he said no. I had to hire a new lawyer. The outcome after this wasn't good. read more

I had heard such great & positive things about Holly Mattice that I had looked forward to working with her firm on a custody dispute. Unfortunately I was unable to get an appointment with Holly Mattice and instead was set up with an associate, Cynthia Kairys. Although I work as a paralegal, my firm doesn't do family law & so I sought professional assistance on a custody dispute matter. From my initial consultation I was told NOT to tell her anything negative about my ex and felt I wasn't able to get out things which I felt might've been pertinent to my case? I felt like my concerns for my child and his care were unimportant. Perhaps it might have been because I was a man and seeking custody of my son? I'm not sure. Despite this I decided to continue to work with her because I felt she was tough & this was just the way it had to be. However as time went on there were several things that made me question her commitment to my case and in a way made me feel like she was adversarial to me! 1) There was an issue w billing an hour for two emails that might have taken less than 10mins to write each nonetheless I was charged and paid it. 2) My concerns and emails would sometimes just be ignored. 3) There was an upcoming deadline and I needed to speak to my attorney about preparing some documents. I had a 3PM appt only to call and be told that my attorney was unavailable. Although I did eventually get a call back, in the end I felt I was better off on my own than being represented by Ms. Kairys as I felt that my case was simply NOT important to her. I didn't feel welcome. Again perhaps it was because I was a man and seeking custody of my only son. I do not know what her deal against me was. Nonetheless as of yesterday I terminated representation with her firm and hopefully my next experience with an attorney will be more pleasant. read more
