As we had a tremendous experience at the Mattress Firm at this location in the past with the sales person, Alex, I decided to return there to get another one. As she was not there upon my arrival another sales person, Ralph, was available to assist this time. He was never pushy and was genuinely concerned about the type of the exact mattress I might have been looking for. The transaction was quick and smooth, having able to identify what I had needed. As those two pillows that were supposed to come with the mattress and the base upon the date of delivery were not available, I was explained that I would need to pick them up at the store when they come in later. On the date of pick up of these pillows, Ralph was not available so that another sales person, Walter, greeted me with such pleasant and authentic smile. He immediately recalled my name as one of the customers picking up the pillows, which I was blown away with. The pillows were already wrapped and had my name on them!! Starting from Alex, who provided us with very meticulous service, entertaining and keeping our toddler while we tried different products less than two years ago to Ralph, who was extremely efficient and precise, Walter who blew me away with his service, taking away my frustration of having have to visit the store again to pick them up, are luminous. But for Walter, my experience would not have been as near perfect as it was since I was already agitated and upset that the pillows did not get delivered on the date of the delivery with no explaination at that time. This Sleepy's is actually across from Queens Place (which, ironically enough, has another Sleepy's within the roundness). It's your standard Sleepy's; one or two sales people surrounded by a lot of beds. The sales people I encountered here are the anti-sales person; they didn't stalk us - and they didn't even greet us. We had to flag down one of the salesman to inquire about product (pillows) ourselves. It felt like that scene in Pretty Woman... where you walk in and no one wants to help you until you show some money. I had to tell him that I needed new pillows for the $5000 bed we just bought from Sleepy's (that he had to confirm in their database) before he made any effort to help. Then he pulled a sleazy one; trying to sell us pillows at full-price - failing to mention that they were actually on clearance until we were about to leave the store. AVOID AT ALL COST! THEY are all LIARS!!! WORSE THAN CAR SALES MEN! Sleepy's does not even deserve 1 star, but for reviewing purposes it generously gets one. PROBLEMS 1. Delivery was promised for next day, tuesday, comes friday instead. Upon calling the sales associates they promised to call back all the 10x's we called, never happened. When the delivery truck comes friday everything BUT the mattress was delivered. 2. They send over a defective/broken box spring. 3. Call the showroom and they said they will take care of the box spring when the mattress will be delivered (sunday). 4. Sunday comes, mattress is delivered and still no replacement box spring. 5. Call the showroom, they tell us that there was no notation of a replacement box spring and to call the customer service. 6. After several hours of being passed around from showroom sale associates to customer service and to other showrooms, nothing has been resolved and its now been one week. The stress caused by sleepy's is not worth the deals promised by this company. Go somewhere else and spend $100 more for some peace of mind. read more

I was at the mall yesterday in evening with my wife and two young kids. We had made a reservation at one of the restaurants and decided to check some stores out. We first went to DSW, and checked out the new styles. Then we went into Sleepy's next to the Outback restaurant to check out the Tempurpedic mattresses. We have been planning to purchase a new mattress soon and my wife wanted to make sure I tried out the Tempurpedic. Initially there were two salesmen. As we were checking out the products, one of them left the store. "Sanjay" remained and had given me the details of the mattresses. I did not like his vibe. My wife was checking out the pressure point computer when my youngest announced that he needed to use the bathroom. So I leave the store to take him to Target upstairs. When we return about ten minutes later, my wife was waiting for me outside the store. She explained to me that she had a bad interaction with "Sanjay". Apparently, "Sanjay" had made several inappropriate comments. He had asked my wife if she was there to purchase a mattress or just passing time waiting for a restaurant reservation. I was annoyed at hearing this and wanted to go in the store and confront the guy, but then I thought about yelp.com. My wife was also going to call Sleepy's corporate office to complain about him. Again it reinforces why I dislike sales people. Instead of reinforcing the Sleepy's brand and working on a return to a Sleepy's store, he just was a selfish ass. Buyers Beware: Unfortunately Sleepys is famous for being pushy sort of shady company, but time is tight so we had to go with them. They are now claiming a "employee discount" is taking place and once we made the order he said he was giving that deal. It was a 5,000 bed bumped down to half the price. He also had claimed we had gotten an MySide bed, but it was a Sleeping Beauty (which was "high quality top of the line" but exclusive to Sleepys only. We wanted to cancel our order (because it was a "life time" bed and we decided to go a different route). Of course this was a huge problem to the sales man who was the manager! (Both a person at the store, and him personally on his personal cell number). He had gotten angry and said "Just receive the bed for 21 days and I'll waive the 400 dollar fee you are currently buying a lower quality bed at us.mattress.com and I don't want that. I gave you a special deal, with a lot of discounts. You have to come down to the store when I'm there to cancel the order". He gave a run around on when he will be there. I called sleepys.com directly. There was no issue canceling the mattress however, he had told me they are giving out the employee discount and he will bump down the price (We purchased the mattress thinking we had already gotten an employee discount). I say NO once again. He canceled it. I asked for confirmation, he said I had to go down to the store for that. Whew. Going to the BBB about this one Be sure to read your rights on the paper work. You have the right to cancel, and we canceled it before shipping. You also have the right to "try it out" for 21 days and get a full refund. My advice: If you want a top of the line mattress, don't buy one that's exclusive to Sleepys.Trust your gut and see the signs of someone trying to just make a sale. Go directly to the manufacturer and ask for suggested retail stores. read more

-UPDATE - Mattress Firm called me and stated they would give me a discount because of the inconvenience. The were suppose to send me an email and some sort of discount. Haven't received anything and it has been a month since the call. Would love for them to at least finish something on a positive note. Lets just keep this simple.. the called 24 hours before delivery and they stated 3:15pm - 5:15pm. The came to my house before 3:00pm with no prior phone call which was stated they would do before arriving.. When they did arrive early the proper people weren't there to receive it so they left my $4,000 mattress on my living room floor. They left my bed cover/protector and my 2 pillows there as well. I was told they would remove the old mattress and set everything up for me so I would be worry free and good to go. They did tell me that the warranty was for 20 years but with the loop hole of dirty,torn, or damaged in anyway would void it. Here I am moving a very expensive piece of furniture into the basement hoping the wrapping doesn't tear and I lose my warranty. The pillows that I was given free because my sales guy gave me no discount but 2 free , supposedly $100 pillows were great until I opened them and realized that 1 of them had mold of some sort on it. I called the store and spoke to my salesman. "Jerry store manager" was deeply hurt and in aw that all this had happened to me. He stated that he would contact the proper people to make this right for me in some sort of way. In a discount or anything else that he could do but he would have to contact upper management. Okay, here is the dope on one dope at Sleepy's. My sweety wife and I go into the large store on Queens Blvd., just a few blocks from our apartment, and lie down on a few king size mattresses. My wife and I like to shop very fast, so we say okay let's purchase a S&F King size mattress. The price on the bed is something like $3,600 reduced to a Sleep's special $2,600. I hem-and-haw and tell my wife that the cost is too much so let's leave. Unlike the car salesman to whom I once stupidly surrendered my keys to my trade-in car and was kept hostage as a result, this salesman has no such hold over me. Predictably, the salesman says, "hold on now, let me see if we have one in the warehouse. If we do you, can have it for 1,500." He says the warehouse, mind you, and not a floor model or a damaged or a returned model, etc. Oddly or oddly not (you guess), this was the exact same line a different salesman said to us in the same store just 6 years ago. In other words, it is bull. So we so okay and he patronizes by saying "you have good taste." Then although Sleep's website prominently advertizes that the custormer can have the bed delivered at a convenient to them time, our salesman dismisses this concept completely. Okay, the delivery is supposed to occur on a Friday afternoon between 2 and 6 pm. At about 3 pm my wife calls Sleepy's to verify the delivery and they say that it was canceled. Of course they didn't call us and tell us this, which means I was out a half day's pay. I call the store on Saturday morning to find out about the delivery. The salesman that sold me the mattress tells my a cock-and-bull story about how the mattress I ordered was in NJ and that it was damaged and so it couldn't be delivered. Then he stupidity informs me that I was really lucky indeed because now I would get a brand new mattress delivered, one that was already in stock. He says, "You're really lucky to get a new mattress for that price." I am flabbergasted by such a remark and so I tell him that if the mattress from NJ was damaged I wouldn't have taken delivery, so why was I lucky? And answer there came none. Again, I cannot get the morning delivery that I desired and that they advertized. Some advise to the buyer of a mattress. Forget about finding out info from the internet. It seems the industry has it tied up with advertisements and not facts. Instead, go into the store with cash or a credit card and totally disregard the prices indicated on the items because they mean absolutely nothing at all. Every item in every store in this country is negotiable. If they can sell me a mattress that is originally marked for 3,600 for 1,500 hundred, just think about the markup at the supposedly reduced price of 2,600. Go into the store and low ball them, offering them 1/4 of the listed price. Let them squirm before you hand over any cash to them. Just imagine this dopey guy telling me how lucky I was to get a new mattress for 1,500. It probably cost no more than 500 bucks, made by slave labor somewhere in some ugly factory in the south. Once other thing, the salesman waved the delivery fee although it is advertized as being free. I received a followup call, perhaps from this rant, perhaps not I don't know one way or another. I was told by a polite lady that I was to receive a stock mattress, which is a new mattress. Well, that is what I ordered, so what's the big deal? Was I supposed to do cartwheels for getting what I ordered? The salesman at Sleepy's apparently was selling me a floor piece, but he never once mentioned that to me. If he had, I wouldn't have bought it. In any case, the woman that called me listened to my complaints like a saint. She was very polite and rational, as opposed to the salesman who was either dopey or supposed I was a dope. Furthermore, she said the mattress would be delivered in the morning, as I originally requested. I'll followup with this tale. The delivery is scheduled for Wed. morning. If it does not arrive by 12 noon I will cancel, something which I should have done already if it wasn't for fear of going through the same stupidity all over again. If all goes well I will indicate so on this site. If they throw in a couple of memory foam pillows I'll even remove this posting . Once last thing to mention. Last time a mattress was delivered by the same store I told them to take all the wrappings away from the building. Even after tipping them I found all the wrappings of the mattress in the apartment buildings hallway garbage area. This time I will accompany the delivery men to insure that they take the old mattress and the wrappings from the new one with them. More insanity from Sleepy's. The delivery was scheduled for Wed. morning, but lo and behold at 4pm today, Monday, Sleepy's shows up with the mattress. They did not call me ahead of time and it was mere luck that I was home. Was lied to by the manager peter at the store. A used mattress was delivered to my house. Peter gave us "free" pillows but when I called the customer service to complain about my stained mattress, I was told by the supervisor Joey that I paid for the Pillows. It's not free. So Peter bumped up the price of the used mattress by adding the price of the pillows to make it appear to give us a big discount off the retail price. i bought a queens bed barrier on Monday for $199.99. The people there told me that the product will be delivered on Friday which was 4 days from the day i bought! But my roommate got me a bed barrier that very night and i called in the other day to cancel my order and stop the delivery so as it would b a waste of time and labor. The guy working there assured me that the order will b cancelled and the refund will be made within 7 business days. Now when i checked my bank in 7 days the money was not there. So i called the store again and asked them what was going on. They told me to have patience and wait for a few more days cause it takes around 7 to 10 days to get the refund back in the bank! I did wait for 7 more days. Now on the 15th day of my cancellation, the money is still not transferred to my bank. I called them once again about what the problem was. To my surprise, the guy says that the cancellation has not been carried out yet and asked me to wait 10 more days?!?! When i asked them how can they be so careless they simply said it's a minor 'mis-adjustment'! I told them that i would complain and to this they told me - Go ahead, Complain! And hung up! As great as the mattress is, good luck getting it. The post-sale customer service from Jerry, our salesperson and the area manager, has been a nightmare. In total, I needed to take 5 of my 10 vacation days from work in order to get two deliveries due to Mattress Firm's incompetence. Alex, a helpful rep, helped bubble up my request for a credit due to the inconvenience (see below for details). Given that Jerry was our initial salesperson and the area manager, I have been working with him directly on the credit, and by working I mean me calling multiple times, him promising to call me back with details, but to no avail. I finally caught him on the phone today, and he said he could offer a $75 credit on my $2600+ purchase, and also offered to throw in two pillows which he already offered (and did not deliver on) during the original purchase. On a $2600+ purchase and lack of follow up from the store, I don't think $200 at a minimum is that much to ask for, especially if you insist on throwing in free pillows supposedly valued at $180 each. When asked if the cost benefit would work in Mattress Firm's favor to just give me the $200 credit, he said "it doesn't work that way". As somebody who has worked long-term in a customer-oriented retail space, this is certainly not how I, nor any of my associates, would do business. I highly recommend that Mattress Firm reevaluate their training and development of staff, particularly management, if you intend on having any repeat customers or referrals. --- To summarize all of the scheduled and missed deliveries: Original delivery date: 6/26 [wrong address - did not get delivered] Rescheduled delivery date: 6/29 Exchanging box spring date: 7/7 [wrong address - did not get delivered] Spoke with Jerry, who said he would reschedule for 7/10 Rescheduled to exchange box spring date: 7/10 [did not have delivery on file] Exchanging box spring date: 7/17 Exchanges re: crediting my account - this has become a full-time job in and of itself. 7/16: Supposedly Jerry was working on it 7/20: Radio silence - called the store to speak with Jerry and he told me he would look into this and call me back within 30 minutes. No call. 7/23: Called the store and Jerry once again told me he'd call back within 30 minutes. No call. 7/24: Called the store, Jerry was busy but should be back in 5 minutes. Called again and was told he technically wasn't working but would be back tomorrow. 7/25: Called the store, was told the best he could do was a $75 credit. When asked if I could speak to somebody else, he said he was the area manager so it would be directed to him. Details on missed deliveries: I was originally scheduled to receive a mattress delivery on Monday, 6/26/17, and waited an entire day for a delivery that never arrived. First, the delivery truck called to say there was a delay due to traffic (beyond the 2 hour window), and when they finally called to say they arrived, they were nowhere to be found - somehow, their system GPS provided them with a different zip code (which was CORRECT on our confirmation receipt) that sent them to another part of town (by car, it was 20 minutes away). The delivery person told me there was no way they would be able to redeliver to the correct address not only that day, but for a few days after. My husband and I ended up sleeping on the couch and had to schedule another day off from work for a second delivery attempt. When the mattress and box spring finally came in on 6/29, I realized that the full setup was too large, so, per their policy, I called up Mattress Firm and asked to swap the full-size box spring for a low-profile one. I confirmed our address multiple times to make sure delivery would not be a problem this time around, and was reassured that notes had been made on our order for the delivery truck. Despite all of this, Mattress Firm once again sent their truck to the wrong neighborhood on 7/7 - again, the delivery service had the wrong zip code resulting in another missed day of work due to an error that should have been fixed. I spoke with Jerry on 7/7, and he guaranteed that the zip code was updated and would help us reschedule for 7/10. Once again, the delivery never arrived. This time, after speaking with a competent associate, Alex, there was no delivery because the store was doing inventory and had no deliveries scheduled.
