He probably spent a good hour with me as I had lots of questions. I brought samples home so I could see what looked good against my cabinets. My kitchen floor was then ripped out and the new floor installed. I asked that the new floor be glued down and it was. The workers were professional and cleaned everything up. Had carpet installed in my bedroom today, and I am very happy with the results. The process took a while due to paperwork on the end of my Co-op and Hamilton was patient and understanding throughout the process. As soon as everything was in order with my building the process was seamless. Installers showed up a few min earlier than inspected, moved items carefully, cleaned up when they were done, were kind courteous, and I now have carpet. What more could one ask for? It was really nice to be able to ask so many questions during my consult and even get two price quotes and have time to think on different options as well. I have used these guys on two different occasions and was thoroughly satisfied on both accounts. In the past they did some carpeting in my kids' playroom. They advised on a good quality, padded type that was suitable and durable for this application. Yesterday they installed a nice elegant carpet in my upstairs hall with a runner down my staircase. They have an abundance of samples to choose from and help you plan your project very well. When they came to install the job was done in expert fashion and in one half day. George, the owner, seems to be a real nice guy to start with. However, he has a very fickle temper. When I decided to use his service, he seemed very thankful and said yes to the starting date right away. Then, I needed to finalize the project on the type of wood plank. He started to get very annoyed and complained to me on how his previous project did not go well with a similar type of plank and decided not to take my job and literally told me not to call and bother him again. He totally released his unsettled resentment on me from his previous unpleasant work experience. What the heck! I became his punching bag of his unsettled resentment. George became rude and unprofessional. He wasted a lot of my time in thinking that he was the guy for my project. He ditched me in the last minute and I needed to find another contractor under a very limited time frame. I'd never work with a guy like George, nice on the surface but weird and fickle inside! He exploded his temper unpredictably and unprofessional. He picks and chooses his clients and does not treat people equally. Shame on him. read more

Today I had linoleum put down in my apartment, and I couldn't be happier with the results!! From start to finish my experience with this company has been very pleasant. We dealt with Christian at first, he was very helpful, took his time to ask color schemes and price points, never once did I feel he was being pushy which I experienced at a few other places. When he came to give us a free estimate he bought a few samples because I was undecided on the flooring for my living room. He also let s know if in the end we decided against using them not a problem. My mother dealt with George when she went to put a deposit down and she found him to be pleasant as well. Now the workers who came today to put the floors down were great, they did take a long time but the end result was beautiful, I'd rather they take their time than rush and do a sloppy job. You can tell these guys took real pride in their work. I just wish I got their names!! I would recommend this company in a heartbeat, ask for Christian like I said very helpful and pleasant. Poor customer service with attitude that install problem is your responsibility to solve/fix not theirs. Wanted to charge $60 to cut down wood door, because they did give installer the cutting tool. They did install for another customer and did not charge to cut door down. Go to another store if you want to be treated fairly without the hassles. The owners response illustrates how it is the customer is fault/blame for any problems that arise. At point of sale, they knew I had a bedroom closet door, as they wanted to know if I wanted carpeting in the closet. No mention was made of any charges/need to cut the door down. They did cut down the doors for another customer for FREE, yet wanted to charge me $60. It is expected in most businesses that the installers show up on time for scheduled appointments. Instead of adjusting their business practices to avoid these type of problems, it is easier to blame the customer. read more

Ordered the rug in the store with the store manager. After 1 week of waiting, no rug. Called store and manager told us our order was complete. Had to wait another week for delivery. We first worked with George and he helped with the wood selection. He was very patient and explained options to us (several times). I really like the vibe that George and Christian give off - they are super professional, extremely patient and make you feel comfortable asking questions. They showed me applicable options in my price range and never tried to oversell. Prior to installation - they worked with my co-op building management company seamlessly and got the needed certificate of insurance quickly. That's huge - most companies make you feel badly about having to jump through co-op hoops while rolling their eyes - that simply never happened in this case They installed 500 sf of carpet on my schedule and the crew they sent (Santos and partner ) worked skillfully and cleanly. They negotiated some difficult cuts with ease and the job looked great afterwards. Moderately more expensive than Home Depot / Lowes, but the service is top notch and personalized. Time will tell whether to the installation holds up to foot traffic but so far I am very pleased read more

I would give it a minus 0, but am forced to do the 1 as that is the lowest avail. here.Having been a Nursing administrator for over 48 yrs and President of a non profit organization, evaluation is my skill set. Went to the store 2 days ago for 2 rm carpeting. George, the owner was pleasant and helpful in store. Appt for measuring was made for 9a the next day as per his request which was agreed on. Gave him measurements we had and he gave a written estimate based on our measurements and stated after he received the final measurement from his staff, which might me a bit off from what we had, he would discuss with us a better price since I told him we were a religious organization/tax exempt. In order to accomodate the 9a time, a few appts were cancelled. By 1030a no show no call from them. The store is only 10 min away from our location which we told him. Called the store asked for George, Harry stated George not there. Informed him we had 9a appt. Harry stated he knows nothing about it, no communication re our scheduled appt. Inquired if George, the owner is out for the day, isn't there a routine posted scheduling list so everyone knows what is scheduled for the day, and can assign the worker to go out???!!! He kept repeating George is not here, and he doesn't know anything about it. Would not address the problem. Finally he stated he would call George and get back to us. We wait another 1/2hr and had to recall Harry at the store. He then stated, without apology, that yes, George stated there was a 9a appt and that they would send someone over. The person arrived at 1130a, and wanted to know what colors we wanted. That was already discussed the day before with george, and why does the measurer need to have that info, he is not selling or arranging the contract, only measuring. Today, which is 2 days later, still did not hear from George, which he stated at the 1st day at the store, that after he receives the measurements he would contact me to discuss possible lowering price and make arrangements, etc. 10a today, 2 days later, no call from him. called the store 3 times, kept reaching answering machine. Finally at 1020a reached Harry, asked for George, stated he was busy and would call back. Waited another 20min, no call, recalled, reached voice mail again twice, then 3rd time reached Harry again, who stated George called but I wasn't there. Informed him I never left my desk or phone sitting waiting for call. He argued with me. He stated George said the price is the same, no discount. informed him I was doing business with George and want and have a customers right to speak with the person I had been doing business with. Harry stated he was on the phone paying bills and could not come to the phone, he would call later!! Customer came second!!! Informed him to have him call me without 10min which George did. I informed him, that I was not satisfied as a customer with all the above. He stated regarding the botched appt, it was he fault and that the price was the same will not lower. No apology for the above problems, just business (bad) as usual. I informed him that he stated he would give us a better price, if the sizing was not that much different, which it wasn't few inches only, he stated NO!. I informed him after 48 yrs of making and being responsible for administrative decisions, no way would I do business with him or his company. He had no reaction, no apology, no customer service intervention, no nothing, just OK, bye. In reading the other reviews, some are sterling, some disastraous. One customer stated that George is fickle, uneven tempered and picks and chooses his customers, and I would agree with that assessment. His business behavior is inconsistent, does not adhere to the agreements, does not apologize and the mess is left on the customer. the discount was not the main issue, but the disrespectful and unprofessional attitude, and the possiblity of more problems ensuing loomed large with more aggravation, stress etc etc etc. Experience shows that once it starts bad, will continue same way or worse. Even though we could have gone to College Point to get cheaper tiles, we decided to spend the money to have a pleasant experience. Harry walked me through the project and picked a carpet that was exactly what I imagined. He promptly came the next day for measurements and to assess the project. We picked a wool carpet, which I then brought in my husband and Harry answered any remaining questions. Our carpet was installed a few weeks later, it's beautiful and luxurious. If I could give this place zero stars I would. We had an appointment to have our carpets fixed in two rooms, they were old and rippled. I spoke to a man at Carpet One who assured me we didn't have to move any furniture, only breakables and to unplug appliances. We spent all morning moving our belongings out of two rooms. When the men arrived the one said they would have to charge us an extra $100 to move furniture. I explained to them that I was not told this and had specifically asked if this needed to be done and was told no. I could tell the older of the two men was just lazy and didn't want to work. The younger guy was ready to do it. We told them we weren't paying more than we were told and asked them to leave. We would have moved the furniture ourselves had we known. When I called Carpet One to complain I was told that the person I spoke to had given me "an estimate" which is a load of crap. Save yourselves time and aggravation and go with a different company. This is not how to treat customers. read more

I rarely write reviews, but having shopped around before purchasing my wood flooring, I was well aware of what great service and attention felt like. George and Harry were so very patient with me, helping me find the right shade of grey for my wood flooring. They made sure I had plenty of samples to take home and never tired of my constantly changing decisions. The floor installers they sent were of the best quality. They made sure that the new wood flooring was the same height as the existing tiled hallways. They had to cut the wood around a curve and it was done with such precision and professional technique. Most horrible, heart-breaking experience ever! Don't go there! They are not trustworthy! If you made any kind of oral agreement with them, you've got to be careful. They will break the deal in a blink of an eye! If your bathroom is around 110 square feet (or less). And you want new vinyl flooring for the bathroom. Don't go there! Because they will tell you: "it's not worth the trouble!" Let me tell you what happened. The store is only a mile away from where I live. I went to the store two days ago to see what they had in stock. And I asked them about the price. Then I told them I would go to other stores as well. And I would come back to this store if I decided to get the job done here. I came back to the store today. I looked at the samples again. And after being in the store for 20 minutes, I made a decision on which flooring that I was going to go with. I was happy. The guy who helped me choose the flooring was friendly. And up to that point, everything went well. They told me they would come over to my place to do the measurements at 6 PM. And they would send someone over on Monday to install the flooring. I was satisfied with that. And I left the store. Two minutes later, they told me on the phone that they would not do the job. And they said I was fuzzy. I couldn't understand why they would just break a deal like that. And I still don't know why they thought that I was fuzzy. And they sounded so cold blooded on the phone. I thought maybe there was some kind of a misunderstanding, so I walked back to the store. And I asked them why they broke the deal. This time, they didn't even bother to look at me when I talked to them. The atmosphere was so negative and so different than before. I'm just a young lady. And they are all middle-aged men. I felt so helpless in front of those guys. I didn't know what was going on. And I was trying so hard to hold my tears back. The boss came from the other side of the store. I thought maybe he wanted to talk to me and give me a good explanation, or maybe he was going to apologize. But he didn't even give me a chance to finish the question that I was trying to ask. He was really mean to me. And the only reason he talked to me was because he wanted to make me leave. After the very brief conversation with the boss. I realized the reason why they broke the deal was because they've got bigger gigs. And they wouldn't get a lot of profit out of the deal the had with me. It was a heartbreaking experience. I was nice and polite to them. But they bullied me. They are not trustworthy. You will get hurt if you deal with this kind of people. They are not nice. Watch out for people like them! I don't want you to experience what I experienced today. Take care. Stay away from this store. I called them again. They told me they could still sell the flooring to me. But they would not do the installation. So I went back today and paid for the flooring. They will deliver it to my home tomorrow. The owner's attitude was much better today. read more

I had decided to do my homework before going to Hamilton Carpet One Floor & Home and set up in home estimates with Home Depot and Empire Carpet beforehand. Home Depot rep did not show up for scheduled appointment and I decided to not proceed with them, and Empire's quote was $700 more than what Hamilton quoted. From the first moment that I spoke with George on the phone I knew I made the right choice. My mom had referred me as she was very pleased with her installation some time ago, and I visited their showroom the same day I spoke with George and his colleague showed me my options and George came to my home that very day to measure my unit. This was this past weekend and today is Friday and my whole unit is already carpeted. George took care of the required paperwork promptly for my coop board and I was able to get all processed quickly, The installers were punctual and meticulous with their work. I could not ask for more. I will be recommending their services to family and friends. I am very happy with this experience. read more
