Why do some business owners Take advantage of their situation with the people of Hawaii? Ace Hardware Marmac Is committing fraud! There is the price on the tag it says How much the item cost. When you approach the register and use a national coupon from Ace not everything is applicable towards the coupon and you don't get the discount you were intended to! Yesterday I spent $100 should got a $20 discount instead the discounted items brought my to down to $50 which only allowed for a $5 discount which save the owner $15. Also everything is cheaper online than in the store. But none of the items online at the cheaper price are ever available so it is a misleading ad that is designed to get people into the store to spend money on the more expensive items. The attitude of the store is that we are an inconvenience to them! There is a sign taped break by Each register that says "they have the Right to refuse service to anyone and we don't care who you are! " WOW And the owner is never around I ask for him every time I'm in there and employees are a turnover so obviously he doesn't pay them enough to keep anything but anything good around! I was told on the phone that there were 4 boxes of a small christmas tree holder. I called 3 days in a row, and they said they have it but I have to wait until the boxes in inventory are opened and put on the shelf. It matched the item number I gave off the website. I came in today, Tuesday and was told that there were none to begin with. Spoke with owner there, Mr. Marrs and he said that the item was never ordered. A few parking spots in the lots. Went In to buy something specific today and found some stuff on sale. Usually can find bird feeders and food, keys can be made here and the like. They even had some seasonal items still. Went to check out household supplies that I usually get at target. But they had it on sale here so might as well get it all In one place. They had a 3 for $10 sale but only got two items. So many different flavors to choose it's tough to decide but I like variety. Bought some hand soap and multi purpose solution along with a few other items. Chceck out wasn't too long of wait. Cashier had aloha even though she said they were short staffed. She was upbeat about it and talked story. All and all great experience and one my go to spots. read more

Ace is a name that conjures memories for any person who grew up on Maui or even across the US. The difference with Marmac Ace is in their name, literally. This family owned and operated (other location in Kahului) Ace is really an obvious tribute to the testament that is a family hardware store. In here you will expect the type of service, friendliness, and accidental hours of shopping around. I have come here for extra keys to be copied, new lightbulbs, buying supplies for a middle school science project, and to just walk around to see what's new while eating popcorn. Expect that the staff may treat your kids like their own niece or nephew. And if you can't find something, expect that a lot of people will end up making it their mission to help you find it. Very disappointed with what happened today at Ace Hardware in the Kehalani area. I stood in line at the same spot I've always stood when playing for items. Another customer cut in front of me, as I was about to correct their rude action the woman clerk said she didn't know where the line was coming from and shrugged her shoulders and laughed. She serviced the line jumper first. My recommendation would be to go to Lowe's or Home Depot for better service. You'll also get better prices. If you have to go into the store go knowing you probably will not be getting the best service possible. Go to Ace and be prepared for disappointment. read more

This is the second location for this store that is owned and run by the Marrs family. The building is brand new with on site parking. We went in, and had about 20 minutes to take a look at the place before they closed for the day. I must say that the it is brighter and more spacious than the "iconic" store on Alamaha Street in Kahului...and they still have that free popcorn at the front door! read more

The customer service when shopping is actually really great, staff are friendly and helpful in finding what I'm looking for which is great because I prefer to support local businesses. Unfortunately if you need to return a defective item the customer service is lacking. They did eventually honor their own return policy just be prepared for them to give you a hard time about it. I don't think I'd risk buying any big ticket items here unless you can see in store that it works. read more

This is my neighborhood hardware store (I left out the word helpful or friendly on purpose). They always send me a $5 off birthday card and something goes wrong every time I try to use it. Today's reason was that the rake I was buying was already at it's lowest price. The item was not on sale and there is no mention of the card not being accepted because the item I purchase is already at it's lowest price. So I try to get an explanation of why I cannot use my birthday discount card but the cashier just seemed to get more irritated and shorter with her answers than trying to explain something that doesn't make any sense. I guess Home Depot or Lowes is a much more helpful and friendly place to go from now on. read more

The Marr's family have truly built a great business, customer service has always been a double-plus including friendliness, smiles and all. We have lived on Maui since 1970 and Marmac Ace has always been our choice, even over the 'big box' stores. We moved into Maui Lani a few years ago and of course was thrilled with the opening of the new store there. The new has obviously worn off for a number of employees there, especially for some of the teen and early 20's female employees. Where are the unfriendly, sullen, crappy attitudes coming from? You are not just hired to do a job, you are hired to promote the spirit of the store and owners; which you do not!! If you don't like, or want your job, QUIT and make room for someone who cares and is thankful to be able to work!!
