Went into store to request a return on a mattress and purchase a new mattress. Was told by the store manager that he should have never sold us a pillow top because he never sells pillow tops to larger people. Then he charged us a restocking fee. He said he should have never sold us that bed, so he shouldn't have charged us a restocking fee. read more

On November 29,2019 (black Friday) at approximately 5:30pm I arrived at the Mattress firm at 2107 highway k O'Fallon Mo #018038 location. It was my daughter, sister and I. We were greeted by David and I let him know that the reason I was looking to purchase today was because my 14 year old son will be having spinal surgery soon for his scoliosis and I needed him to have a comfortable bed when he returns from the hospital. We talked and I showed David the ad I saved on my phone about the free adjustable bed so that he had an idea of what sale I wanted. David told me that right now there was a deal and I could get the king for a queen price and queen or full for a twin price. The queen or full bed would be $499.00 dollars so the adjustable frame would be free. I let him know that I wanted the deal but I had to check my account and check out some more beds while I was here because I needed one for myself as well. David said that he will check back on us after he helped the other customers. After we checked out a few beds David was speaking with other buyers so Rich asked if we we're ok. I asked him about the prices on some pillows. The first ones I asked about were $200.00 dollars and I told him that those are out of my price range so he showed me some more which were over $100.00 dollars so I asked him did he have any cheaper. At this time he began to be agitated with me so and he said here is some $15.00 dollar pillows maybe you can afford them and tossed one to me. I turned to my sister and told her that I didn't like this one and I can probably get one later at Walmart. He asked me was I ready and I said yes will take the queen bed for $499.00 with adjustable frame. At this point he was really upset because David told me the wrong price. He yelled across the floor while David was assisting other customers and said "did you tell her this bed was this price because it's not and it's not apart of the promotion. David replied with "yes I did but I did not know it was not that price. Rich turns to us and say "well I guess we will give the bed to you at that price because he told you that" with an attitude. I told him that I wanted to check the different beds because he said it was a soft, firm and medium. I still was very patient with him and I asked him which one would he recommend for a child who will be having spinal surgery soon because he has scoliosis. He said soft or medium but it's up to you in a patronizing way and walked off. Rich came back like 5 mins later and said "Are you ready to buy now or what". At this point I am furious but I didn't yell or say anything. My sister asked him how long do the purchasing process take. Rich response was "10mins or so but you guys been in here for a long time now". This really hurt my feelings to the core. I am already going through a lot with my young son surgery without having to be RACIALLY PROFILED in mattress firm. He did not speak to any of the other potential customers like that and I feel like it's because they were a different race. When the Caucasian family before us left he he was smiling and said have great day and thanks for shopping with us. When we made our purchase at approximately 7:30pm and left he said nothing. I was not going to buy anything from this location because I did not like the DISRESPECT he showed to us and he suppose to be a Store Manager. Situation like this makes me never want to do business with a Mattress Firm again. This is not acceptable and should not be tolerated at all. I do intend on going to social media, news, and any other place that will hear me out so that this never happens to anyone again. I do expect for someone to reach out to me soon. read more
